    Green Curry Chicken
    PennyandRusty P.

Recently, a new take-out restaurant opened on Kingsway called Twinkle Thai (in the former location of First Choice Chinese). This new Thai restaurant is the brain child of the former owners of Sticky Rice Thai & Asian Cuisine in Surrey. While Sticky Rice Thai was a full-scale sit-down restaurant, the owners decided to scale things back and just focus on take-out now. That being said, there is a small bar-like area by the entrance with 6 side-by-side seats to accommodate individuals that just want to eat their food on-site. On my first visit, I ordered their Green Curry Chicken with Rice lunch special ($13.95). The curry was quite good (they make their own sauces) and had crunchy red and green peppers, large chunks of tender eggplant and chicken, as well as basil. There's just a hint of medium spice level here that's not overwhelming. On my next visit, I tried their Pad Thai ($11.95) with chicken, tofu, carrots, sprouts, egg, and onions with a mild sauce. The rice noodles that they use here are of the thinner variety but are nice and toothsome. At the end of November, I ordered their Red Curry Chicken lunch special ($14.95) which comes with a hot and spicy sauce, big cut pieces of tender chicken, bamboo shoots, basil, and peppers. Unfortunately, they decided to stop serving lunch and just focus on take-out during dinnertime.

Pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, green papaya salad.

Food was ok, nothing special. Tasted more like Thai and Chinese fusion. Spring roll was cold. The price was expensive for this type of food at a only take out place.

Omg sooo f****** good…read more Service is good. Place is nice. But the most important part? Everything we ordered were amazing, price is right and portion is good. Tom yum fried rice was their special and we gave it a try. It comes with some seafood with shrimps, and squid. The flavor and spices in this fried rice is out of this world. Massaman Kai: the chicken was fall off the bone tender. And the curry was very well seasoned. Even if I just have the curry sauce with plain rice it would be heaven. Mango sticky rice. Can't go wrong with this. But they added something crispy on top and elevated this dish even more. Will definitely come back. In fact my mouth is watering now so I need to come back here asap.

Not in the best seats, but it was fine. The air con was blowing directly at us so it was quite cold. We spoke to the server and they immediately helped us move our table back so we were more comfortable. Overall, service was excellent! Seafood Tom Yum fried rice 5/5. Bursting with flavor. Big chunks of chicken and shrimp. T yum flavor really shone through. It's one of their specials so it might be limited time, I'm not sure. Massaman Kai 4.5/5. Chicken was tender, fall off the bone. Sauce was delicious and creamy. However, there were a few pieces of potato that wasn't completely cooked through, but some were perfectly fine so that was only a small miss for us. We only had a little bit leftover but still had to pack it home so none of it would go to waste. Mango sticky rice 5/5 not on their menu but so happy they had it this day. Delicious and the perfect way to end such a wonderful meal. Lots of mango, rice was wonderfully cooked and still warm. 100% coming back again!

Came for lunch on a Saturday and luckily the restaurant wasn't full at all…read more Pad Thai (lunch special) comes with chicken wonton and soup. It wasn't too sweet and the noodles weren't too broken. They are very generous with the tofu and quite a few pieces of shrimp. There was a lot more pork than there was rice Penang curry - perfectly sweet with the coconut curry. We got a large rice and it was definitely the right choice to go with all that curry. Would definitely get this again Service was okay. As there's only one person working the hall, it can be hard to get their attention. Overall the price is good for the amount of food you get.

I need the number for their mango dealer because it's always so sweet and ripe! I always order pad thai at any Thai restaurant, and this is decent but the portion is on the smaller side. Owner is always friendly, great service, I love supporting family owned local small businesses that offer delicious eats at great value! Happy AAPI heritage month!

The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They all arrived relatively quickly and my favourites were the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai was fragrant and on the sweeter side which I like. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to go around so I didn't get a chance to get a good taste of it with the rice. However, I scooped some curry sauce from the khao soi onto the crab friend rice and it was delicious! Finally, we tried the mango sticky rice and my goodness, it was so pretty! The rice was warm and sweet which paired beautifully with the slightly tart mango. I'll definitely have to come back to have more of the khao soi noodles!
