Authentic tasting Thai takeout/delivery food in Burnaby South along Kingsway opposite side of BMO. Grace is the nice lady who answers their phone and runs the front of house. They cater to several delivery apps and I've seen a lot of drivers picking-up food there. We usually opt to just call-in our orders and pick it up after 20 mins since we live close. You get a 10% discount for dinner orders (pick-up) plus saves a bit of money. They have a small dining area -- bar seating by the window. Their pad thai is delicious! We've tried tofu (with egg), shrimp (plus $3) and chicken. They don't scrimp on the shrimp so the additional price isn't bad plus the serving size is quite big. We've also tried #40 Black pepper (Chicken) - it was flavorful, lots of bamboo shoots and other veggies. #57 Pineapple fried rice with chicken -- it was okay, it was a bit moist for us as we prefer drier fried rice and the pineapple chunks were a wee bit too big. Their Thai tea was great. Loved their Basil Chicken fried rice (no peas and beans for us) -- so flavourful and lots of chicken pieces that it's enough to be eaten on its own without another viand. Reheated leftovers the next day and it was still yummy and flavourful. Their Chicken Satay is good too loved the satay sauce, portion size is bigger than your typical Malay/Thai restaurant and it comes with a side of potato chips. Really enjoyed my bowl of Tom Kha Chicken (coconut milk soup), big serving size and thicker soup -- so comforting and warming to the stomach and soul. Overall, Twinkle Thai is our go-to neighborhood Thai place. Pricing and serving sizes are really good value for money plus the food is made really well. Lastly, I'm glad that they are willing to modify our orders (by removing beans/legumes bec of hubby's dietary restrictions). I look forward to trying more things in their menu. read more

Green curry was chock full of flavor, the spring rolls seemed made in- house and were perfectly crispy. Food was piping hot on pickup and stayed that way thanks to the through and careful packaging. I was binging on Gooned Up with Donny and Hu Ayi - decided I wanted crab Rangoon. Turned out, it is much harder to find than a PS5. But this place has them within 50km radius so I had to try. Wow.... Very disappointed. No crab resemblance... not even imitation. Just a large dollop of cream cheeses. A soft 3 for me. The redeeming feature would be the wonton shell, flaky enough to earn the mark it got. Ok see you next week (cue slightly offensive but catchy oriental theme music). read more

Recently, a new take-out restaurant opened on Kingsway called Twinkle Thai (in the former location of First Choice Chinese). This new Thai restaurant is the brain child of the former owners of Sticky Rice Thai & Asian Cuisine in Surrey. While Sticky Rice Thai was a full-scale sit-down restaurant, the owners decided to scale things back and just focus on take-out now. That being said, there is a small bar-like area by the entrance with 6 side-by-side seats to accommodate individuals that just want to eat their food on-site. On my first visit, I ordered their Green Curry Chicken with Rice lunch special ($13.95). The curry was quite good (they make their own sauces) and had crunchy red and green peppers, large chunks of tender eggplant and chicken, as well as basil. There's just a hint of medium spice level here that's not overwhelming. On my next visit, I tried their Pad Thai ($11.95) with chicken, tofu, carrots, sprouts, egg, and onions with a mild sauce. The rice noodles that they use here are of the thinner variety but are nice and toothsome. At the end of November, I ordered their Red Curry Chicken lunch special ($14.95) which comes with a hot and spicy sauce, big cut pieces of tender chicken, bamboo shoots, basil, and peppers. Just feel like I'm eating mall food court foods. They display their coconut rice with mango also but they never have it or aren't making it so I find this deceiving. Busy Kingsway intersection as well. The food isn't quality but they're def trying. I did enjoy the shrimp moon cake. Wings was not good. Pad Thai and shanghai noodles are decent. DO NOT ORDER from here. Rancid eggs, felt sick after a couple of bites. Ordered the pad thai - they used the wrong noodles, no veggies, mixed soy sauce with other some other sauce. Beyond DISAPPOINTED by this meal. Instructions to make items 'spicy' were not followed. Veggies in the curry seemed to be from a pre-frozen mix (Corn, peas, lima beans & carrots). We ordered from Twinkle Thai, as they were able to make curry dishes vegan upon request. The Basil Stirfry was bland, Panang Curry lacked substance (it was a bowl of sauce) , and the spring rolls could be likened to rolls of mush. Peanut sauce was watery, without much peanut flavor. I'm sorry to have to leave such a bad review- unfortunately this meal was terrible. The coconut rice was the savior of the meal- so we didn't go hungry. This is my number one favourite Thai place. Their sauces for spring rolls, satay and deep fried tofu taste home made and really make the meal a star meal! Furthermore, if you live for yellow curry and don't want to burn your tongue off due to it being so spicy they will modify their recipe to make it mild. It's the perfect hint of spicy, but full of flavour. They are also very fast and always fresh food. I highly recommend them. One of the best flavoured grilled chicken I ever had and super juicy. Pad Thai, All curries are made from scratch and you can taste it.
