    Sausage Party

Was looking for a casual vegetarian lunch. This place was the perfect alternative. Very laid back vibe. Ordered at the counter for inside seating. The sandwiches were delicious. Make it a combo and enjoy their strawberry lemonade and fries. The sausage party sandwich was indiscernible from animal-based protein. Others in our group enjoyed the Up in Smoke burger with excellent plant-based patty and bacon. The burger was topped with some great BBQ sauce, as well.

I had the privilege of being invited to try the cauliflower bites at Twisted Plants today. After talking to the staff at the counter and receiving a very gracious welcome, I waited at my table for my treat to be served inside the restaurant. What a charming location. This little spot in Cudahy is located in main street next door to a childcare facility not far from the airport. When you step inside this colorful little cafe, you're greeted warmly by the staff and given immediate courteous attention! The cashier even took the time to read the ingredients on the cookies to me when the print was too small for me to see. I truly appreciated that!!! The prices are very reasonable for the vegan foods and the restaurant specializes in sandwiches made with Beyond Meat. Because of my dietary requirements, I cannot eat Beyond Meat but those sandwiches had my mouth watering with temptation! It was hard to wait for the cauliflower bites so I was glad they arrived quickly! I tried the BBQ bites. They were very spicy. I enjoyed them very much. They were not, at all what I expected! That's good! See, I don't like cauliflower! If those bites had tasted like "white broccoli" for 1 second, I would not have been happy. I was very pleased indeed and would definitely add this dish as a new favorite. Thank you to the owners of Twisted Plants for inviting Yelp Elites to taste your food. I drove all the way from Grafton for cauliflower! That wasn't necessarily the prize, though -- YOUR STAFF WAS! They were gracious, kind, polite, hard-working, friendly, courteous, and constantly cleaning the whole time I was there! It didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated! Thank you for being such wonderful workers and gracious hosts!

Yasssss! An amazing black-owned vegan spot in Wisconsin with food that makes you wish you had 7 stomachs to try everything at once. I don't even know where to start... Since I only have one little tummy, and it fills rather quickly, I was hard pressed to pick a couple of things that I could try, prepared to have the leftovers on another day. After looking at their wide array of tantalizing menu options, I finally settled on a few things. This Is The End - Loaded fries with bbq jackfruit, guacamole sauce (I omitted queso & ranch) and I requested the addition of their chipotle sauce. Dear baby Christ in a manger this was FIRE!!!! The spicy sauces atop those thick, crispy and perfectly seasoned tater wedges... All I can do is shake my head as no words hath I. This may definitely be the end...of my waistline. Hot Box - This is apparently on their secret menu. It's spicy vegan fried chicken with friends. Well, it's not the least bit spicy, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's de-freggin-licious. That crispy, seasoned coating on that vegan chicken with a perfect texture that wasn't too chewy, but not too thick or gluten-y (if you know what I mean). SALTED CARAMEL SHAKE - I do not know if this shake is seasonal or not. I do not know when the winds of life will blow me back to Wisconsin. But I hope that whenever I am back in town, this shake will be there to greet my mouth with the pleasantries of its succulent kiss. I tend to get poetically dramatic with delicious food. This shake was so darn delectable! Thick, sweet, tasty, and left me wanting more. AND it's vegan?! For what more can you ask?? Whether it's work and a foodie road trip, I cannot wait to get back to Twisted Plants to try the rest of their deliciously twisted menu.

Burger Time Twisted Plants had been on my to-do for some time, and a coupon deal got me there. I haven't been to Cudahy for so many years but I called in my order early and then made a detour on the way home to pickup. I'm all for plant-based and their burger selections did not disappoint. I hear they will have some dining space soon, so I will definitely stop back sooner rather than later.

Oh, finally! We finally made it to Twisted Plants, which is one of the restaurants featured in Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week 2021. I know many people have been raving about this place, and with it serving plant based fare, it was time to head down to Cudahy and give it a try. It's easy to order online and you can have your order "for later" and get an estimated curbside pickup time. You get a confirmation text as well. Now, on to the food! Oh my! As soon as we got the food, it smelled delicious, super fragrant! The "How High" sandwich (shredded jackfruit with bbq sauce!) definitely hits the spot. I chose this one after looking at the menu a few times and thinking I wanted one of everything. We also got a couple of milkshakes that were tasty and satisfying. Check this place out if you haven't already!

I had heard a lot of good comments about this place so I decided to give it a try with hubby. One thing that you really need to pay attention to before you go: the order time. They open at noon (which can be a bit inconvenient for early lunch fans like us). If you put in an order before noon (you can do it on the same day through their online system), you should expect to get your food at 12:30PM or maybe 12:40PM depending on the order volume. We got their Up'N Smoke burgers and hot cauliflower bites. Big portion size. The burgers tasted good but were kind of heavy in smokehouse bbq sauce. We both particularly liked the plant-based patty & fried onion rings. They serve yummy, golden, crispy waffles fries on side - awesome! The hot cauliflower was so-so. Maybe we should get BBQ sauce or sweet chili sauce. Maybe they would have tasted better if we ate them right away. They smelt so good in our car but tasted kind of salty and mushy after we took them home. They were spicy indeed! The guy who picked up our call and the lady who brought us food were both super friendly! Definitely a great option for vegan/plant-based comfort food in Milwaukee.

Best vegan burger place around, hands down!!! I'm not even vegan lol but the food is SOOOO GOOD, I'm vegan every other Saturday afternoon!!! The staff is super cool and laid back. Restaurant is nice inside, nothing special, I usually just order online so when I arrive, it's just getting done. Mozz sticks are yummy, burgers are fire!! Sometimes during holidays they make soul food dinners... Don't short yourself, go ahead and pre-order those too!!!

Delicious vegan burger joint that has marijuana themed decorations. This was the first thing I ate in Milwaukee, and I am so glad I found it. Tried the Up in Smoke with tater tots. Superb burger, but I felt like I could have done without the onion rings and the plant based bacon didn't add much flavor or texture. Something that real bacon does. No matter though, it was awesome and I really like the fries. I'd probably skip the tots and stick with the fries which have that curly fry batter on them.

Dear Twisted Plants, Your decor boasts posters of many of my favorite movies from my time spent in my early 20s; your music playlist transported me back to junior high in the 90s; your food took my breath away. That strawberry lemonade was fire , your cauliflower bites were mouth-watering, and that lemon crack milkshake was the bomb! I have been trying to gently lead myself into becoming closer to vegetarian and I think this place offers some of the tastiest and creative options for dining out. My forever food-love is the hamburger and although I haven't tried any of theirs yet, I know they are going to be beyond mind-blowing because if what I ate was any indication of what's to come, whoa! The staff I interacted with are so nice and friendly, you can tell they take real pride in their product and service. Thank you for the good eats and delicious treats. Until next time!

This place is amazing! Hands and forks down for top notch vegan food. The fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade is well worth the price for it. I had enough to sip along with my burger and have plenty left for the car ride home. I don't mean to blow too much smoke, but the Up N' Smoke burger was a plant full of goodness. As long as you don't mind getting a little messy, this should be anyone's go to burger.

    Christina R.

Couple of friends and I ordered to-go and they had a good system to get the food to us efficiently while still in the car! I'm not vegan myself, but treats like this make me see that you can still get loads of flavor with meat alternatives. We got a the Up'N Smoke Burger and 2 orders of cauliflower bites to share. All the flavors were perfect together and the waffle fries were amazing! When the cauliflower bites were cooling down, the breading started sliding off, so I would recommend eating them while they're still fresh!

    Good location great food

I had ordered a cup of Tom Kah and was delivered and charged for a bowl of soup, which was a big price difference. That was a tad annoying just because we had nearly four different people approach our table to check on us to start. The timing of our dishes was off as well. I received my Pud See Yew and it was nearly 10 minutes until the Pud Thai came out and when it did the food had a horrendous burnt taste. We did send it back and they gladly corrected it, but at the same time something seemed off with communication. Our servers were nice, but they filled our waters like 30 times - every time we took a drink it seemed. Although very attentive, felt a bit overdoing it and didn't allow us to chat consistently without interruption of asking how is everything when we didn't really have food yet. It was more tom yum mushroom than "goong". Lemongrass sour and the little kick was perfect. Pud sweet basil leaves (beef) Ok, I know the word "sweet" goes in this dish, but it is sweeeeet. And it has way more peppers and onions than basil. It would have been a much better dish with basil and less sauce. Overall, I won't order delivery from them again. I might try revisiting in person sometime. No promises.

The greeting from the hostess was warm and friendly; she is an asset and really makes you feel welcome. Once we were seated and finally finished our struggle with what to order, we got our drinks. My cousin tried the Berry-cation from the summer menu and it was perfect for her - very fresh and a little sweeter. Cousin-in-law got the Thai Goddess, with tomato, and it was very interesting - not quite fruity and not overly vegetal - very cool. Our food was amazing. The first several minutes were just a series of different people saying "Oh my God" as we tried different things. There was no weak dish. We enjoyed a good mix of seafood and meat dishes, that included Golden Fungi, Phuket Jor Pu, Namya Pu, Kurobuta Pork in Panang Curry Sauce, Hung Lay Short Ribs, the Samurai Signature Set, Kinnic Crisp Shell, Nam Prik Aon, Waygu A Rockfire, Mango Sticky Rice and a complementary birthday Yuzu Cheesecake. We reviewed the menu while we waiting for seating, which took far longer than we wanted, more than 30 minutes standing in the cramped lobby area with a bunch of other people. Hats off to their host for being friendly and even a little entertaining and I like that you can order coffee at the register area and drink it while you wait. Too bad you can't get a cocktail out there. The menu sounded great and we were ravenous so we were excited to order. By the time we were seated we were limited to about 40 minutes to get to a ticketed event, all in. I told that to our waitress so she could pace the meal accordingly. While I understand that she can't control the kitchen time, I don't think she showed any expediency or attention to my statement. Spoiler alert - we were late. Two of us ordered the biscuits to start with jam. I was happy to try them and they were good. My coffee based martini hit the spot, but it was spilled a little when it hit the table and our server didn't say anything or wipe it off. My mom liked her bloody Mary and it was decent. When our food came I was immediately disappointed by the appearance. My chilaquiles looked like they had sat under a heat lamp for ages - the egg was dried and over firm. My chips were spicy, but 100% soggy and nasty. My black beans were - meh. Not a good dish overall. My mom actually didn't find fault with her Honeypie Benedict. I tried the hollandaise and it was fine. My cousin did not enjoy her Hopple Popple skillet at all. (Potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, mushroom, bell pepper, cheddar, two scrambled farm eggs) She found it difficult to find any egg, as it was apparently shrunk into tiny bits. The potatoes were like fries and it was overall bland. Not a winner. We certainly won't be back. The dishes don't live up to the interesting descriptions of them and the hype seems to be from an earlier, better time for this restaurant.
