Admittedly, I was expecting very little from the twisted rail, I found it on a whim while I was thrifting in the area and needed lunch desperately. I'm so glad I did and my expectations were blown away. I'm a huge fan of chicken Caesar salads, so I set the bar very high. This was genuinely one of the best CCWs I've ever had. The lettuce was fresh, dressing was delicious and even the fries were perfect. I ordered takeout and my server was super friendly and the space looked clean and cozy. We have been there and so have friends and when MAGGIE is working all goes smooth bc she is witty friendly really good running the bar and serving and always caters to the people there. She knows how to direct the people who bring in cases of beer and kegs and manages to take care of everyone she is the best there some don't even go back to ask if you want a refill or anything their backs face the crowd Maggie should be the manager to show the others how to serve and be friendly bc when Maggie is there all is well! read more

I stopped here for lunch one day as I passed through town. It was one of the few restaurants open on Monday in downtown Honesdale. It is a relatively small establishment with a very clean interior. They have a modest beer selection as well as a modest menu. The food is quite reasonably priced. I got a chicken Caesar salad which was pretty good. The service was good. read more

Me & my girlfriend was shopping Main Street and finally found this cool bar, where we were thirsty and hungry in 95 degree heat ! and sat at table and digging the vibe and ordered a veggie burger and a brisket sandwich, which both were overdone and the burger was like a hockey puck! The only good thing was the sautéed Brussel sprouts ( amazing) ! And fries. I had 2 beers and a shot of Rumplemintz. We had met some new friends, and I wanted to buy a round for everyone. However when I went up to the bar to order another beer, the barmaid told me that I was stumbling upon my words and that I was DONE ! First of all, the bar was crowded, and she was busy, and she probably misunderstood me and she could've just asked me again what I wanted. I was not drunk at all and I have an accent from Queens that & being busy probably misled her. she is not a professional barmaid! Rude bartender with purple hair that seems to have many google review about her.. it's unfortunate management has done nothing to correct this behavior. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience at this bar on Sunday Aug. 4th, due to unprofessional behavior from one of the bartenders. My friend was refused service, not because of her conduct that night, but due to a previous Google review she had written -- which the bartender openly referenced and said, "she tried to get me fired." I remained respectful and neutral during the situation, saying nothing inappropriate to the bartender and trying to honor both perspectives. However, as I was walking out, the bartender made a sarcastic comment: "Yeah, that's why you and your friends are leaving hah!" -- clearly trying to provoke a reaction. My friend previously had noticed that SFM- short fat Mexican- was written on her receipt and during this one sided argument she doubled down saying "if she wants me to write that on her receipt again I can". Truly disgusting in a place of business. I calmly explained that I had nothing to do with their prior disagreement and that involving me was unfair and unprofessional. Instead of diffusing the situation, she doubled down, calling me "childish" and continuing to argue while I tried to have a mature conversation. We came to support the business and enjoy ourselves, but left feeling disrespected. Sadly, this isn't the first time I've noticed poor treatment from staff, especially toward customers of color. It's disappointing to see personal grievances take priority over professionalism and customer service. I hope the management addresses the pattern of behavior among certain bartenders before it drives more business away. read more

I have to say if it were not for excellent management this review would have gone differently. We took friends from out of Town to go to the Honesdale harvest Festival and decided to stop for a drink and appetizers for lunch at the Twisted rail where we had never been before. It was crowded but comfortable and we got a table, ordered artichoke dip and nachos, nothing complicated. We got our drinks in no time, finished them and waited over an hour for the apps. We were getting ready to leave and the owner/ manager came over and was so upset we didn't get our food due to short staffing issues. She offered to comp everything, the food finally came and we must say it was delish. She came over a few times and we paid for our 1st drinks( our choice) but she didn't charge for the second round or food. We were so impressed we will go back and try again. Sadly by the time we left it was raining and the festival was over. read more

Came for lunch on a Sunday with 4 adults and 3 teens. The waitress/bartender/hostess was not super welcoming, and the kids felt uncomfortable, like they shouldn't be there. We were told before ordering that the food would take a while to come out and they typically don't cook for large parties since they have a very small kitchen/one cook. When the food finally came out it was pretty good, and even though the r waitress didn't write our order down, it all came out correctly! I'm leaving this review so others are aware- it is a small bar with high top tables and food, but I wouldn't say it's a bar/restaurant. If you have a larger group and kids, probably not the place for you. I would go back for drinks/apps with another couple but not with my teens. read more

It's hit and miss because like a lot of places, they have a hard time finding workers. They're really good if you go at the right time. If you figure out when the right time is, please let me know. What a cool neighborhood tavern! We stopped by for lunch today for the first time. I sorta kinda remember an old tavern in this spot a few years (okay, decades!) ago, but never visited the old one. Whatever the old one was like, this place is cool, clean, attractive, and modern...while still looking like a traditional Pennsylvania small-town tavern. Just a really good vibe. We learned that we had parked in the wrong place: the empty parking lot nearby was actually a church parking lot. No problem, said the bartender, and gave us a couple "courtesy quarters" to feed a parking meter. Cool! I enjoyed a good local draft (I think it was a Wallenpaupack Octoberfest lager), and we had a nice lunch. The "Sonny burger" (named for the previous owner -- "Sonny's Tavern" was the name of the previous bar on the same spot) was on point: fresh and perfectly cooked. They got the fries right too: crispy, not oily. My wife enjoyed her Caesar salad. The bartender told us they occasionally have live acoustic music in the bar. This is not a restaurant but a local pick up bar. I had their special (Caesar salad) but it was terrible. The only positive thing I can say about this place is the one female bartender/waitress. I wish I knew her name but she is the restaurants savior. She does everything & I think overworked. We ordered a few appetizers to share and they were pretty good, exactly what you'd expect from a hometown bar. Prices are inexpensive! This is "dive" of a dive bar as it gets... and that's a good thing. They attract a lot of kids in the summer ... camp counselors i think but when the fall comes it goes back to the old regulars. As for the food? ... Very small menu which features a flame grilled burger on an old contraption that looks like it was built in 1862. Just a burger and cheese on a bun and it is so good, you'll eat 3 of them. And with the prices as they are... you can and have a few beers and still not spend over 20 bucks here. Great place... and burgers to die for ... especially if you eat more than 4 of them (which i almost did...) Oh and they have single $2 Pierogies as big as your face with sourcream! The reviews were spot on - this place is great! The bartender was incredibly nice and checked on us many times to make sure all was good. I had the Caesar salad with their homemade dressing - probably the best I've ever had! My husband had the AppleSmoked wings and rueben sandwich. The wings were so tasty and so was the rueben. I highly recommend this place. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it's got a great atmosphere and very very good food! Oh and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I was there today with my wife and friends for lunch. I had the Sonny burger, wife had the rodeo burger, friends had appetizers of potstickers pierogies and quesadilla. The Sunny burger was very good, they serve it with Valvedere cheese which was an interesting touch. My wife loved the Rodeo burger. Pierogies and potstickers were also good! Would definitely recommend this place. Don't judge it by the outside... the food was great! read more
