Being a visitor here, I would imagine this place has lines out the door on a Saturday, and it did before and after we got there. Located in Deep Ellum next to downtown Dallas, this area in general has wonderful restaurants. Twisted root is no exception. I must say their system is quite efficient, got our food in about 15 minutes. My milkshake came out very quickly. Each person gets a random name on a card when waiting for your order, mine was Matt Damon. They make things fun and interesting, We tried the verde rabbit burger, and the southern comfort burger. Anything with fried green tomatoes and really good bacon is an awesome match made in heaven, in my opinion. My son devoured his Nathan's hotdog, all in all if, I lived down here, I would try and frequent this place at least once a week. read more

I love a good off day and especially when it's on a Monday. It was a beautiful sunny day and I wanted to eat lunch on someone's patio. So we decided on Twisted Root. I've heard good things about this place. Everyone raves about it and I wanted to try it out. I always enjoy a good burger. So, I'm not really sure why I haven't been here before. The atmosphere was pretty cool. They had little quirky signs all over the place. Your order name could be anywhere from Tina Turner or Lt. Dan you got no legs. :) We made our way through the line and I ordered the Hawaiian on a pretzel bun and my boyfriend had the Big Tex. Also, If you love pickles they have a variety that you can choose from. So go ahead and fill up those condiments cups to your heart content. It took about 10min for our order to be called. I immediately went for the French fries. They were very tasty. Next, was my Hawaiian burger. Oh my goodness. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The mix of sweet and salty was awesome flavor explosion. I don't know this could be a favorite. Instead of getting desserts we got the Caramel Apple Shake and the Watermelon Sweet Tea. I mean it has enough sugar content to give you that dessert feel. :) I would say pass on the Watermelon Sweet Tea. It's not all that sweet and the watermelon flavor does you no favors. The toasted marshmallow s'mores shake was on point -- creamy, but not too melty, with a nice milk chocolate flavor and bits of graham cracker throughout. The toasted marshmallow topper was delicious swirled with the shake part. My girlfriend had the banana milkshake and the vanilla was very creamy and good. Talk about foodgasm. Our other girlfriend had the house made root beer float and wow, it was perfection. I would order that in a heartbeat (as the custard shakes were on the heavier side and were a tad sweet). After being one of many stranded in Dallas Texas in December after Christmas. (We got stuck in the surprise tornado.) Me and my significant other took it upone ourselves to enjoy one rainy afternoon. So we went to Deep Elum to try Twisted Root. (Recommended by a local.) They have the kind of sense of humour I like. Stickers all over the walls, and sayings in the washroom of "what would Chuck Norris do..." all over. Side note if you don't like a good old what would Chuck Norris do or say don't go here even if you like burgers. The vibe was so chile and awesome with a "get your shit together and order already, (nice tone) what would you like" feel I can't resist. Thanks for the experience. Cool burger joint with a decent menu and lots of draft beers to choose from. It's a bit loud with several big screen projectors playing old MTV type videos from the 80s and 90s. I want to love this place, but the actual burger meat left a lot to be desired. The beef patty itself was large, but almost flavorless. I bit into several chunks of gristle, which is a deal breaker for me. I will return to try the turkey or veggie burger, but the beef is not the best and needs to be seasoned better. It's a neat concept where you stand in line and order then grab a table and wait for your food to come up. The burgers were juicy and delicious and they had quite a variety. They also have massive containers with different kinds of pickles. You order your sides separately. Prices were good and options for burgers, sides, and salads were pretty good.
