We are locals and foodies. Twisted Shrimp is a well-worn, but cozy and comfortable, quaint eatery with the best fried shrimp I've ever had anywhere - period! The shrimp are always fresh, large, have an amazingly light batter, and cooked to perfection. Shoestring fries are the perfect compliment. Really great food, and priced right, which is tough in the Keys. We keep our boat at a marina nearby, and eat here often, its become the go-to place when we want something close and good. Not really being a fan of fried shrimp, was leery of it, but after ordering it once, order it now all the time. Its cooked in rice oil, and has a gluten free breading. They have a lot of sauces, all very good, but I liked the cilantro-lime and its great with their shrimp. Shrimp tacos, and the fish also very tasty, and we're always looking to try different things on the menu, but the shrimp is hard to pass on! You have to look for this place- its tucked back in the row of buildings its in, but well worth the effort to find it. Probably the best deal in the Keys for a great seafood dinner. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits, shrimp rice bowl, tuna tacos, shrimp basket (1.5 pounds of flash fried, lightly breaded fried shrimp) and Brussels side. Wow the food was world class and the prices were very reasonable. There is zero view and limited ambiance so take out is a great option. We will be back! read more

They desire a Michelin star just for their shrimp & grits; rivals any in Charleston, SC. Stopped by here for lunch and wasn't disappointed. Service was great and food was even better! You place your order at the front register and have a seat. The food comes out quick, and is steaming hot. No question wether or not it's fresh! This was one of my favorite spots to eat during our trip to the Keys. The shrimp was very lightly battered and was amazing! Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get! Great shrimp. Great sides. Large portions and served quickly. We wanted to stop on the way south but traffic was bad and parking was full. So glad we stopped on the way back out of town. Traffic was still bad and the parking was crowded it is a small lot. Open kitchen was fun watching the chefs cranking the food out. read more

Got there as it was opening for lunch, but owner not ready. Wait 15 minutes with his dog barking at us. Maybe the dog was hungry for human meat? Walked inside and confronted huge floor puddle (small pond) in front where soda machine was (right next to bathroom). Went to bathroom to wash hands and it was filthy. No soap. Toilet not flushing properly. Decided to pass on having lunch there. Drove on. Happy with that decision. read more

Really enjoyed this place. We were looking for a dinner spot, and saw the good reviews and had dinner here. It is not a full sit down service restaurant, which we were a little disappointed. The seating area was small, and a bit hot. But the fried shrimp were awesome! Definitely an awesome place for quick meal or takeout. But no beer :( read more
