I keep seeing this Twistee Treat when we visit Tampa, finally talking everyone into stopping. It was even better than I remembered. I had one of their Twirls, Pecan Pralines, and it was wonderful. My regular sized treat was plenty of soft serve ice cream topped with a sugary mixture of praline pieces. Big time flavor. We decided to go to twisty treat for just ice cream, but when we saw that they served hamburgers we became a little bit more hungry. The hamburgers were very juicy and well done. Everything seem to be fresh. We were pleased with when we walked up to the window we were greeted by a young lady. That was very nice all full of smiles and she acted like she was very happy to be at her job. There's plenty of parking spaces, as well as other shopping areas around. Is very clean has a few decorations and I was very happy about how clean it was how it was wheelchair friendly or handicap friendly kids were there and they absolutely loved it. This place is convenient to where we live so we come here a lot when my daughter is visiting. I like that they have a drive through as well as tables you can sit at outside. Plenty of parking too. The ice cream itself is very thick and creamy. They have all the toppings that a traditional ice cream place would have. They have banana Splits, sundaes, dipped cones, Milkshakes, cookie sandwiches, tacos and more. We also like this place because they have pup cups! I basically had to dig thru a layer of topping before I even reached ice cream and still there's more topping than ice cream. Huge quantity for low price. The walk up window is closed, by the drive through is open. My sons and I sat at a table, while my husband drove through the drive through. I got the kids size vanilla ice cream with pecan pralines and cookie dough. My older son and husband got ice cream tacos. I was shocked by how large everything was. If that's a kid size, I can't imagine what a large looks like. They did a good job mixing the toppings into the ice cream instead of just layering it on top. The ice cream tacos were huge too, my son and husband should share next time (which is what my husband said too, this isn't me trying to enforce a diet on him). I like that they have a couple outside tables that are covered with umbrellas. We were easily in the shade. I'll definitely stop by here again for a sweet treat. read more

Great little ice cream shop that serves up soft serve with a good variety of toppings, leading to rather endless possibilities. Keep in mind though that thanks to staffing issues its Drive Thru ONLY, The flavors of soft serve they have are pretty basic: Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry, which narrows down the tough question of what to get. Today I went for chocolate (which is always a winner in my book) and was craving peanut butter taste so i got mine with butterfinger and reese's pieces candies! I was out celebrating my dog's (11th!!) birthday with her in the car with me when they saw her in the passengers seat asked if i would like a FREE pup cup. Of course i said yes. It was hot and it was her birthday. I have not been to Twistee Treat since the 90's... and just had to stop and get a waffle cone since I was visiting nearby Kotobuki's. Kat (the proprietor) was friendly, and got my medium vanilla waffle cone to me very quickly, and let me know about an awards program they have. I sat in my car, with the tunes blasting... and ate the cone. It was good, just a little bit of a flashback to earlier times... that same sweet vanilla softserve that always seems to hit the spot. I've driven by old school Twistee Treats for years in Tampa Bay and never tried them. They looked old and unappetizing. All of a sudden I notice a brand new cone building being built right in front of the barber shop we take our don to. Then I heard that there was another new Twistee Treat in Carollwood. So, I finally tried twistee after they opened. Woooow! I've been missing out all these years of living in Tampa Bay! I'm a big fan of custard and the ice cream at Twistee Treat sort of has a custardy consistency, which I love! I really like the fact that there are seasonal flavors. The pumpkin is awesome and I can't wait to order again next Fall! The ice cream sandwich is HUGE! It took me 3 days (I took a few bites then put it in the freezer) to finish eating it. The chocolate chip cookies that the vanilla ice cream is sandwiched in between are quality real size cookies! This location is clean and festive looking, especially at night. There's good seating outside and the drive thru is so convenient. (I will frequent any joint if there's a drive thru...particularly when I look crazy...which is often). My kids love Twistee Treat and even hubby who acts like he doesn't like sweets (he's an undercover dessert lover) likes Twistee Treat. So far the customer service has been great too. I tried this place because the place I originally wanted to go had to long of a wait time. I'm not from this area so went based on recommendations in the reviews from my original destination. I've had better sundaes and it's decent for what it is but I do think it is slightly overpriced. The brownie was much smaller than what I am used to and I later found out it was an additional dollar. However, I'm not from this area so idk, that could be the norm around here. I give this rating only because the staff could have been more pleasant. At the window I asked a question about the price. I got a brownie sundae with hot fudge, caramel and nuts. The menu board said the sundae was $4 and some change but the total was $7. The worker seemed a little rude/irritated by my question. When I arrived there were four young people enjoying their ice creams. Not crowded as I was the only waiting to order. There was a little drizzle. Nothing major but no one wants to stand in the rain for too long. I waited for a couple of minutes before becoming too concerned. There were 3 people inside but only one was working. I suppose they were prepared in case Friday night got hectic. The one guy that was working seemed to be primarily focused on the drive thru. Not good for me as cars kept driving up. After a while a family showed up, a mom and 3 very excited kids. After another short wait, the guy came to the window, opened it and said he'd be with us shortly. He finally took my order and said I could pick up my order at the next window. I said, "thank you." As I was putting my credit card and receipt away he repeated himself. I'd heard him the first time. I responded, "okay." Then he said something like, "can you wait over there so I can take their orders?" I said, "you know I've been waiting for a while, you're not going to make my shake?" He said something like, "I'm going to after I take care of them." I stepped aside. I'd already paid so there wasn't much else I could do. I thought it was odd that I'd been waiting longer but no one was concerned about my wait. The whole time I could hear the excited kids talking about everything on the menu. They really hadn't decided what they wanted. Fortunately the guy didn't take all of the orders. A relief because I overheard, 'we have to get such and such for Daddy and 'we have to get such and such for your sister' and other stuff. It may have been a big order. The guy seemed to rush through making my shake. He slammed the cup on the counter in the preparation area so hard that some of the shake cane out of the cup onto the counter. Before you know it I had my shake. The shake was sweet. The consistency wasn't good though. It was part smooth and part kind of chunky. After drinking a little over a third of it, I couldn't really get much more through the straw. After I got home and some of it melted and I finished it. This was my 4th shake in the past couple of weeks. It was definitely the worst one. It was sweet but you can get a sweet shake at McDonald's or anyplace. You come to Twistee for a smoother, creamier experience. I didn't get that tonight. And I didn't get good service. Lose, lose. I won't be back. I can get a crappy shake anyplace. read more

Plus when I pair it with the hard chocolate shell topping it's even better! My coworker always gets the small twirl which is anything but small and they're always very generous with toppings! I'm giving them a four simply because of consistency. The amount of ice cream and price vary depending on who is working. When I get the small, there's times when I've received it half full and other times up the brim. 99% of time I order the same thing, but the price usually varies by about 75 cents. They have a loyalty program! Which is exciting for how often I visit, but it's usually a complicated process to look up members in their database (they search by your phone number). I've been a member since January 2016, but I haven't received any emails or benefits from it, so sometimes I'm not sure that it's worth it to have the cashier hunt for my information. read more
