Please come to this restaurant if you are in the Cincinnati area! First, I wish to state that I am not from Ohio and that this is my first time eating at Two Cities, but this restaurant might be my favorite pizza shop going forward. Second, I only had two of the items on the menu but so many of the other options on the menu looked amazing as well. This Two Cities was built inside the old city hall of Mason, with Mason being a cozy little town in of itself. The restaurant smells amazing upon entering, course it would because they cook their food fresh. It's even got a little ramp that leads down to the main seating area for mobility impaired persons. My first minor issue with this Two Cities was that the booth I was sitting at was slightly raised by a literal step, which nearly made me trip while exiting the booth because I hardly noticed getting into the booth due to my height (6'3 at the time of writing review). There are other booths though that are not raised, so an opinion is to be based of where you are seated. My waitress was really kind and offered a helpful opinion when I was deciding on which pizza to get after being seated by a host. The waitress also allowed me to put in my order all at once (drink, appetizer, and entree). The appetizer (garlic parmesan fries) arrived fast and were undoubtedly scrumptious; the fries were a near perfect mix of crunchy and soft with the shredded parmesan and minced garlic adding extra flavor. Their ranch is also superb. I got the 13" Rhythm Road Pizza (which I shared with someone. I could not eat half of a deep dish pizza alone) and it was something else. Most importantly, it had MASHED POTATO on it instead of a traditional pizza sauce and notably, chipotle aioli drizzled on top (there are more toppings, of course, but they're more normal toppings). Unfortunately, the pizza slices were unevenly sliced, leading to inconsistent slice size and the toppings slide off the pizza easily when scooped up with the provided pizza spatula, all minot grievances of course. The only true complaint I had with this Two Cities was that my waitress did not actively seek out to refill my glass when it was empty. I will say that my drink was not close to the edge for her to see, but it was within view from any view of the table. There were a relatively high number of customers in the restaurant for the time I was there (about an hour before closing), so I don't hold it against her for not noticing. The cups were average size, so I wasn't exactly dying of thirst while dining. The music inside was of good taste and was at a very respectable volume. The other patrons were also well mannered and I had no need to raise my voice to speak to my dining buddy. The final thing I wish to add to this review is how nice the bathroom was. They were very clean, had two urinals (short and tall), one wheelchair accessible stall, nice smelling soap, a simple water control handle, a foot doorhandle, and MOUTHWASH. This is only public building I have ever been in that has offered complementary mouthwash, let alone a bathroom. This could be an Ohio or Midwest exclusive thing, but I enjoyed using the mouthwash nonetheless. read more

The concept is genius: Two friends wanted to spark the great pizza debate (New York Style vs. Chicago Deep Dish) under one roof. Why fight when you can just eat both? A true bipartisan solution this country desperately needs. The Vibe: They took over the Historic City Hall building downtown and it's incredible. Tons of character. They have plenty of outdoor seating--you know, for the psychopaths who enjoy eating outside during the 7 minutes in Ohio when it's not 100 degrees with 200% humidity or 32 below zero. But hey, if sweating in your pepperoni is your thing, it's there. Inside, the decor is on point, with air conditioning. They've got a wall that looks like the Wrigley Field ivy, subway-themed restrooms complete with the overhead transit handles (DO NOT TOUCH THE HANDLES ), and even fake pigeons up in the rafters. It's definitely giving main character energy. Great tunes playing too--Billy Joel, Chicago. Huge booths. Friendly staff. Shout out to Ivy. The Menu & The Grub: Cold beer and pizza. Name a better duo. I'll wait. They have everything: wings, calzones, and NY specialty pizzas with... mashed potatoes? Wait, what? They also offer cauliflower crust and non-dairy cheese for our friends who can't handle lactose. Here's what we shoveled down: Bootleg Bread: Basic cheesy bread but baked with garlic and herbs. The crust was great, and the cheese was thick and substantial. Very good! Perfect seasoning. NY Style Pepperoni: Delicious, exactly what you expect. A reliable classic. #Boring Bull and Bear Calzone: Stuffed with pepperoni, bacon, mozzarella, parm, and garlic. The crust was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spot on. BUT here's the controversy... It came with their self-proclaimed "Famous Ranch Dressing." Look, I know people will fight literal wars over ranch in the Midwest, but I wasn't a fan. It had a strong Worcestershire vibe to it. A little too aggressive for my taste. Good for some, not for me. (The chunky "red sauce" was absolutely awesome, though!) The Plot Twist: A very nice surprise--they brought us a totally FREE order of New York Funnel Cake Donuts. Didn't ask, didn't pay. Maybe because it was our first visit? Not the best pizza but they have two unique styles (New York or Chicago) depending on your tastes. We went on a Friday evening and it was pretty crowded and the noise level was high. Be prepared to drop $25 - $30 for a pizza for 2 or 3. Good beer and wine list. Tight parking at busiest times. I'd been wanting to give this place a try for several years. With DLM opening up in that area, I ventured up there to visit both places! It's super cute, with a Chicago/New York fusion decor/vibe. They offer a thinner, New York style crust, as well as a Chicago style deep dish crust. Many things to choose from on the menu, but I wanted to keep it simple and opted for a small pizza. Knowing it was my first time, the server was quite helpful and cheerfully offering suggestions, which I'll keep in mind for future visits. The crust on the pizza was very tender, not chewy at all like some places can be. I don't mind a chewy crust, but I definitely appreciated the tenderness in this one. They go pretty light with the pizza sauce so I got a side of pizza sauce to dip my pizza. Perfect!!! This place is perfect for groups of all sizes and families as well. We ordered carry out, the pizza was great after a long day at one of the local parks. Our family enjoyed it. The toppings had great flavor, the crust was crispy and well cooked. Everyone was friendly that we encountered. The pizza wasn't ready until 20-25 minutes after given time which at 9:30 at night with hungry kids was a little frustrating but we will definitely be back next time we're in the area. read more

Getting in at Two Cities requires a bit of a wait at peak times but it's worth it. Unless you have a really strong preference, I recommend ordering one of each style. For four people, we ordered the Cabbie (NY style) and Windy City (Chicago deep dish) as well as the Bootleg Bread and Mac & Cheese fritters. (We did have pizza leftover.) The Cabbie was the surprise of the evening. None of us had had potatoes on pizza before, and I gotta say, it's better than it has any right to be. Rich, creamy, comforting. Really delicious. The Windy City is a solid deep dish rendition as well. Maybe not as stacked as you'd expect from Lou Malnati or Giordano's but honestly, that was fine with me! We ordered pick up twice from Two Cities now and their pizza is phenomenal! We got the Chicago deep dish style "Windy City," and "The Capone." These pizzas are massive! Extremely filling! The textures on this pizza... from the cheese to the toppings and sauce and the crust... it has that "crunchy" layer when you bite into it before getting to the bread. I learned that you can get your pizza "double" cut so it's not big pieces. If you have a lot of people to feed or thinking about portion control, I recommend going that route lol. Finally made it out to mason after seeing so many reviews on chowdown and I'm so glad I did! I'm a big pizza lover and two cities did not disappoint! Our server was awesome, the restaurant was themed so cute and our food was even better! We tried the cracked pepper Caesar salad which was good but had too much pepper and the NY finest pizza which was delicious! I liked that their red sauce was different and the crust was so buttery and soft. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed with many families waiting however, the bar area is first come first serve and we walked right up to a table. Pricing was similar to other non chain pizza places around here and parking was very easy around the back of the building. I can't wait to come back! read more

This was our second time ordering from two cities. We travel from out of town at least once a year. I think their pizza is phenomenal and their ranch dressing is delicious. I wish their bootleg bread was a little bigger for the price, but again this flavor can't be beat! We had the stockyard pizza, house, salad, pepperoni bootleg bread, and we ordered an extra container of branch to take home with us. I will also note that both times I've gone to two cities, the young person at the counter was genuinely kind and courteous. It was just enough to mention that I noticed, because many times anymore that is missing from customer service in general. Did a call in and pick up of pizza. It was our first time and so glad we found a good Chicago deep dish pizza in Cincinnati. The staff were very good and attentive when I got in the door. It was a Friday and the place was packed to the brim. This says a lot about the food when there is a line out the door. Be aware that Chicago Deep Dish will take about an hour from time of ordering to pick up on busy nights. It is well worth the wait! On the way home from Hocking Hills, my lady and I were wanting pizza, and my lady found this spot on a Google search. Glad she found it because it was excellent and not just for the pizza. The service was awesome, the place has a very unique and classic vibe, and we really enjoyed everything. We stopped in on Sunday a little after 11am. You can tell this building was an old municipal building and they kept pretty much all the old decor. We were immediately greeted by the owner/operator who was very friendly and inviting. He invited us to look all around the place too. He told us that, not only were they voted best pizza in Cincinnati two years, they were also voted best restroom. Seriously, you'll have to check it out, because it looks like a NY subway station complete with the sounds. Our server, Alyssa, was GREAT. Their menu features lots of appetizer options as well as calzones, salads, and both NY and Chicago style pizza. Their libations menu is nice too with a great beer and wine list as well as specialty cocktails. They even have an exclusive pale ale made by Sonder Brewing. Of course, I ordered it, and it was very tasty. My lady ordered a Cabernet for herself. We started with the legendary parmesan fries, which were some of the best fries we'd had in a while, made even better by the house made ranch that came with them. From there, we ordered a medium NY style margherita pizza, half with pepperoni added because they suggested it in the menu. Was that good too? Absolutely! My lady and I couldn't stop raving about it. After we were done, we received an unexpected surprise, in the form of some complimentary "first timer" mini donuts. They made the perfect sweet tooth finish to our meal for sure. A little crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, topped with powdered sugar. We will definitely be coming back here again because everything was so good. We really liked our meal here. There were a lot of ways to customize your pizza, including dairy- and gluten-free options. They also were able to accommodate a fairly large group on short notice, which was great. We had dinner with our family after a visit to Kings Island. I had really high hopes, but I would say our experience was just okay. The positives - the building is pretty and the ambiance hits you as soon as you walk in. The decor is neat and sort of an experience. The pizza was good, not great. The kids chicken tenders were very good, but I felt like there could have been a little more chicken for $9. Our server was nice and quick to refill our water. The not as good - the pizza felt overpriced, maybe we just ordered the wrong items? We didn't have time to wait for Chicago style since the kids were tired. Like I said before, good but not great. Also, there's a 3% charge if you pay via credit card. There is a sign but I missed it and wasn't expecting it; this is on me, but I tend to think of the credit card fee as a cost of doing business, especially when I already felt like the prices were on the higher end for pizza. read more

Pizza week can be adventurous. So we ventured out to Mason to this popular spot on a Thursday night. Busy spot! Occupying an old government building built sometime around the art deco days, this establishment offers pizza whose crust are signature style of Chicago and New York. The building has a foyer, bar, two dining areas and two outdoor areas. One of the outdoor areas was heated and lit, while the one next to the alley was closed. Our wait time was about 15-20 minutes but as soon as a bar table was available, we jumped on it. We ordered a Thyme Square that came out overcooked, and a build your own cauliflower pizza. Subsequently, the Thyme Square was taken off our bill. We salivated on the Chicago style pizzas that came out for other patrons, but didn't order it due to it not being available for the Pizza Week specials. We'll definitely be back for either a Wrigley Pie or a build-your-own-Chicago. read more

Food it incredible, that's the only good thing. First time I went there a worker was incredibly disrespectful to me to the point where we didn't even get our food yet and decided to switch to takeout and leave then the waitress gave me the most ungenuine apology ever. Left an email to the owner and the owner was nice and gave us a refund and said he would talk to the staff. Reguardless of that situation I waited for awhile because I was scared to go again but the next few times it was a fine experience and food was good as ever. Until yesterday, joined waitlist like usual and we check in and are told a time and a spot that we are in line. Next thing I know we went 2 spots back so I guess their system is anyone can join the waitlist at anytime in the day then get a seat almost as soon as they walk in rather than the typical restaurant where you have to be there by a certain time or you get taken off the waitlist or moved to the back of the line. So apparently they can tell us we have 15 minutes then it could change to an hour and we could be last in line just by sitting there and waiting. This is the most inconvenient and uncoordinated waitlist system I've ever encountered so I'll have to stick to carry out because thats the only thing ever consistent here and I can't just have a nice simple dine in experience. read more

Been wanting to go here for a few years. Between the long lines and distance from the restaurant never made it (40 minute drive). We decided to go on a Sunday afternoon and surprise they have 50% alcohol from 3-5 everyday. My adult son had 3 different mixed drink specials and I had a bottled cider. They have many specialty beers on draft. If they had a cider draft I would have gotten it. The Chicago pizza was fantastic. My son and I each ordered a large pizza so we would have leftovers. I had the pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and he had pepperoni, sausage, bacon. This is the best pizza we have had in Cincinnati. We have been to Chicago and it was on the same level. They have New York Pizza but didn't want to try based on reviews. We also had the mac n cheese balls. They were a little over fried for me but my son loved them. The service was fantastic. They were obviously short-handed because there was a wait with many open tables. We put our names on the list before leaving home. The staff was very friendly. I spoke to the management while waiting saying this was our first time. He gave us a complimentary donut dessert - small powdered sugar donuts. Friday night pickle lodge off Tylersville rd. ordered 20 wings and salad with large deep dish pepperoni pizza. wings were flavored well - but the size of the wings were very small. cooked great but needed to be bigger - they weren't cheap. Pizza had maybe 6 slicecs of pepperoni and really couldn't find them. Pizza was undercooked and had NO flavor. Very disappointing dinner from them as I have been here many times. Two Cities change the size of their large NYC style pizza and it sucks. The crust is to thin and there was very little sauce on it. I bought 3 large pizzas that cost $100. The quality was poor. Over cooked, paper thin crust and very little sauce. I bought these pizza for my house guest. Hardly any of the pizza was eaten. I have over 1 and half pizzas leftover. Should have gone to Costco and bought their $10 pies. read more
