Loved being able to go outside as well on that beautiful day. There was a lot of food but the sliders were the hit of the party. Not expensive as compared to other venues I had checked out. This is an Australian-style cafe purportedly run by Australians. To be clear, I am not a basic bridesmaid stumbling around Nashville in a drunken haze and willing to eat anything (the median Nashville diner as far as I can tell). I know what an Australian cafe is like, as a one-time Brisbanite (if anything, my reviews vastly undersell the number of delightful Australian brunches I've eaten). Of the places I've tried to reduplicate the experience here in the U.S., including another one in Nashville, this one comes the closest. And while their culinary scene has considerable deficiencies otherwise, Australians are very good at brunch. This location, an expansion of a NY-based operation, has gone up in a hip area, with a splendid redecoration of a historic brick building. They validate at a neighboring parking lot, but it looked a bit dicey with all the construction going on in the area. The menu offerings have the sort of tinge you'd find in Australia; my matcha came with a strawberry rose flavoring which delivered immediate satisfaction. The lemon poppyseed waffle appears to be a signature item, and it was quite beautiful, with artfully arranged cream on one side and edible flowers on the other. It was on the caky side, but I didn't have any trouble with it being too dry when I mixed carefully with the syrup and cream. There are a lot of places in the U.S. where you order a waffle and literally just get a waffle, but this subtle mix of tropical flavors, the clash of indulgent creamy cheese with fresh fruit, the extra touch of aesthetic presentation, this is all very typical what you'd get Down Under. These sorts of cafes are always full on weekday mornings (unlike this one in the U.S, which was packed on the weekend and empty on Monday) and you look around wondering what the people eating here do to earn enough money to afford this sort of brunch. It's a different culture. Anyway, I was stuffed, but they offer lunch and dinner and if I'm in Nashville again I'll surely be trying those out. Giving three stars because the service and management needs improvement. Went in for the first time based on other reviews about the food which is pretty good. Good, not great. Why does a nothing special breakfast burrito cost you $21 just to add chorizo or bacon. Really? My bigger gripe was that we ordered expresso and a cappuccino and never got them until we were almost done with breakfast despite asking twice. Meals came out super fast while we waited for the coffees. First, our server said the "machine" was down. Another person then said they were training a new barista for the Franklin location. A manager came by after we paid our bill and asked us how things were and whether they could improve. I was honest that coffee should not take 20 minutes and should not come at the end of our meal. I felt she asked to check a box but really did not care about trying to make it right. No offer to take the coffee off the bill or maybe even offer to give a coffee to go. I came in on a Friday morning around 10am, and there were quite a few people. I was seated immediately and my server was super kind. I ordered the smashed avo toast with a poached egg on top. I'm usually wary when ordering avocado toasts because they can be really good or pretty bland. Unfortunately, I was left wanting more from this toast. The fresno chilis gave it a kick, but I think some balsamic or something else would've taken this to the next level. I also think I should've just asked for salt, I think would've liked the poached egg more with it. There were two gender neutral bathrooms that were also trendy here. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our visit to this warm brunch eatery. The neutral tones of the decor and the diverse wall textures gave this restaurant a unique modern yet homestyle feeling. This is a perfect spot for a brunch date with a loved one! I definitely recommend to get a reservation a day or two prior. We came in as a walk-in around 11:30AM and we were handed a 1 hour and 30 minute wait. It is worth considering that it is a smaller, more intimate restaurant. I walked in on a Saturday around 1PM with no reservation and was seated at a table right away, which is always a happy surprise in Nashville! Granted it is far enough from the crowds on Broadway which may deter visitors from going. They do validate parking - check the website for specific instructions, there's a particular lot you need to park at. I ordered the seasonal scramble with an oat milk cappuccino, and while the cafe was pretty full with people, the wait was not long at all. The seasonal scramble had a toast bottom with a tomato eggplant mixture underneath the eggs, and topped with micro cilantro (honestly a bit sad and wilted) and a bit too much paprika oil. Besides those nitpicky things, it was decent, and filling enough. I can imagine this is a cute spot for a casual brunch or weekday meal, they also have some yummy looking cocktails which I didn't try this time around. We went on a Thursday for lunch around 12. When we got there no one was there to greet us, we had around some 5 minutes for someone to come and seat us. Our server didn't look our sound to exited, he just served us some water and gave us the menus which were kind of wrinkled. After that our sever never came back to our table and we had to wait about another +5 minutes BUT I had to call the server in order to order. Our food didn't take long, a different server brought it to us. Sincerely the food was the only thing that saved this experience from being really bad.
