    Biscuits & gravy

This is actually a hotel restaurant but it is open for all. It's small & not too crowded for late breakfast. Service was good, little slow but we didn't tell her we were on a schedule. Drinks were ok, we all tried an aperol spritz - very bitter but that seems to be that drink. The lemon blueberry pancakes were nice, needed more toppings. The sausage gravy was overly -thick & gummy, kind of cold & not much given to put on a biscuit. Bacon & eggs were cooked right & toast was good. Chicken & waffles were okay, waffle was a little soft & chicken a little more done than we liked overall, food & decor were nice & gets you fed.

Came here durning a work conference with some coworkers. The food was good. I enjoyed the breakfast drinks. The prices were high, but the issue over all was the service. The waitress seemed super annoyed that we were there. Over all people in Nashville mostly came off as rude, so many this is normal? Being from Texas the southern hospitality here was lacking. Ambiance was fine. It was a cute little place. Over all I enjoyed the meal, but probably wouldn't be back. They are also only open until 2pm so keep that in mind.

Cute little spot inside our hotel. The menu had a nice variety and they offer some boozy morning options as well. The coffee was good and a decent strength, which is always important. I definitely recommend the cinnamon rolls and the egg sandwich with potatoes. Those potatoes were really tasty. Definitely worth a visit! The service was a little glitchy, there seemed to be some disconnect between employees themselves and customers, but since the food was good, I only felt it deserved a 1 star deduction. Hopefully, it was just an off morning. Still worth a visit! Update: went a 2nd morning, food consistently good, but the service is just not good unfortunately. Not busy, but still fail to follow up or check in on us, and on their phone/distracted while we sat there waiting to order and for our check. Food honestly is 4-5 stars, but service got worse maybe 2 stars. Would we eat there again next time in Nashville, possibly, but only if staying at Holston House.

TENN located in the Hyatt hotel which is walking distance from all downtown hotels. Love that this is a brunch spot so my husband and I decided to check it out. We walked over and waited for a good amount of time before we were acknowledged to get a seat. I was surprised since a handful of employees walked by us. We finally got seated and it took awhile for a server to come and greet us. Once we were greeted, we got our waters, ordered coffee, and food. There was a wait for our coffee. We were right by the coffee bar so I watched when our order would be up. The baristas were hanging out so I figured our waitress didn't put in our order yet. Once we saw our waitress hanging out she noticed we didn't have our coffees and started making them. Not sure why the service was so slow all around except with the food. Overall, everyone was really nice but didn't understand the lack of acknowledgment and slower service when the restaurant wasn't busy. For brunch, my husband ordered the loaded bowl with steak. It was great! Steak was cooked medium and came out just right. The bowl was topped with a paprika aioli. Diner vibes. Loved the colors. Would come back for the food but not the service.

The staff was extremely helpful and engaging. The drip coffee was great. I sat at the bar so getting great service was convenient. The Sammy I ordered was not good and $16. I don't know if it was due to how Smokey the bacon was but it took over the whole sandwich so I didn't come close to finishing it. I definitely would not order it again. I am sure there are other items on the menu that may be worth going again for.

This place was a big disappointment. The food was burnt so bad and the pancakes were hard to swallow they were so dry

This is connected to the Holston House so it was an easy breakfast location since they are connected. We had a sampling of everything with the our choice. Everything was great except the biscuits. They were quite dry and there wasn't enough gravy to counteract the dryness. Overall, a good experience. We would be back.

Visited July 22, 2023. Honestly food taste is about a 4/5. The Avocado toast is 5/5, absolutely recommend. Also ordered the chicken biscuit. The chicken was flavored beautifully but the biscuit and potatoes was dry. The price was 50% more expensive than other places in the area with the same items and portion. TENN's ambiance is scaled nicer so I wouldn't mind paying the price if the food was perfect and service was better. Arguably my table asked for more time with the menu when I was ready to order but our server disappeared for 15 minutes before coming back to take our orders. I was getting impatient because I brought my toddler & worried she'd be hangry. I'm not sure if there's a pooled tipping system, but when our food arrived none of the staff came to refill our water and there were a lot of servers before they slowed for their mid-day staff meeting. The manager was so kind to let us know that they are about to have a staff meetings so we weren't feeling some type of way when everyone disappeared. There is a parking lot across the street BUT they validate Valet Parking so please use the service! It's much more convenience and will save you the stress of finding cheaper alternatives!

Pretty bummed with our experience here. Service left something to be desired. Pretty nonchalant attitudes and not too eager to provide service. Order was wrong a couple times. Dont recommend ordering the hot chicken here as it's done better elsewhere. I did enjoy the item I ordered though: the BLAT with fries. I was starving though. Great bread on the sandwich. Not too thick. Maybe it was just an off day for the service. It was also freezing in the restaurant. Even the waitress was hugging herself. Just kind of a blah experience. Fun tea selection though!

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is. chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.

We started off by sharing orders of Lobster Bisque (see picture) and Burrata with Toast (see pictures). We really enjoyed both of them - the Lobster Bisque was so creamy and smooth and the Burrata was cool, fresh and clean. They were a great combination to start our dinner experience and I would recommend both of them. Since it was a Friday during lent, my wife opted for the BBQ Shrimp Pasta (see picture) and I went with the Daily Fish Special on Blue Corn Grits (see picture). As we always do when we go out, we shared our plates and really enjoyed both of them. The BBQ Shrimp Pasta was rich, buttery and smooth and the Fish Special was a tasty white, flaky and blackened fish served on a bed of rich, creamy blue corn grits. Started in 2012 by a father and son duo, this is the original location of the establishment despite many other outposts now present through the southern US. Now, back to the spice level. Beyond the standard selections, there are extreme variants like Damn Hot! and Shut the Cluck Up! That's where things get really interesting, because survival instincts always get tested when things are not standard. Those levels are not for the faint of heart. The hot chicken here is legitimately phenomenal regardless of level chosen and the tenders are the most famous cut. The pimento Mac and cheese and the bacon grits are not to be missed as sides. Food was brought to the table and we all agreed the chicken and various sides were delicious. Everything was seasoned well, and hot items were hot and cold items were cold. Counter staff and food runners were all friendly and efficient. Noise level was mild to moderate and temperature was doable after the rain shower. Will be glad to return when visiting Nashville again to repeat order the chicken and also try new menu side items.
