The men were very polite. The move was almost two weeks ago and was a little over four miles. I have found a number of pieces of furniture that have been damaged. A cabinet had white specks all over the side, a mirror had a large gouge in the frame, kitchen table damaged, wood chair with identical damages on both slats, lots of damage on a large dresser. We are moving in two weeks and used these guys in a previous move. We knew exactly who to call after great service last time 2 years ago. We were in an apartment with very narrow hallways but they guys were able to problem solve and get the job done regardless without damaging anything. Laura provides you with a quote very quickly and is extremely helpful in setting up your moving logistics. Highly recommend. Very nice, moved at a realistic pace, took care of my items. A couple things to keep in mind. You are paying these people by the hour and it relies mostly on you if they are going to exceed or finish before the estimated time. 1. Be clear and try to be exact on the estimate of what and how much needs to be moved. Time and resources are based on this. 2. I recommend boxing or bagging the materials up yourself. It's not worth paying someone over $100 to box and wrap things. 3. Move your materials close to the door if you can carry it some one the way. 4. If you can help carry light items out to the trunk then do it. Again, saves you time off the bill. Everything you take out to the trunk will save you money. We finished before the estimated time but I did all the things above. Most of the complaints I see are people complaining about the estimate (lied about how much they needed moved or it was a long path from the spot to the trunk) or the movers going too slow. Don't expect these people to be sprinting in and out of your house. read more

I was in a pinch and this was the only company that could get me moved within the short time frame I had. I had to move the contents of a one bedroom apartment about 10 miles. The original estimate was about $850, which I thought was ridiculous for the amount of stuff I had, but after the two movers dragged their feet throughout the entire process, my final bill was about $1050. These guys spent an hour just wrapping everything in plastic. It was overkill and clearly just a method to increase the amount of time the entire process took. The bill would have been higher but I ended up carrying all of my own boxes into the new place, and taking off most of the plastic my furniture was wrapped in. One mover spent 45 minutes reassembling my bed frame that probably required 16 bolts to be turned. In short - 2 Loafers and Truck employ an operate their business in bad faith and treat their customers like marks. Next time I'll rent a uhaul for $40 bucks and get a couple home depot loiterers to move the stuff for a third the cost. read more

I have a lot of knick knacks, a ton of books, and enough furniture at this point in my life that when the time came to move recently, the thought of renting a U-haul and trying to coerce family and friends to give up a week-end to help me lug boxes and bed frames sounded like a drag. I did a little research and lit upon Two Men & A Truck in Plainfield to move me, and I'm so glad I did. Matt and David, the two guys who did the job, did wonderful work: efficient, professional, in exactly the amount of time that was quoted me so the cost was what I expected. They had the tools, the strength and the truck to do it right; it would have taken me and whatever motley crew I could have scraped together 5 times as long to get everything moved from one place to another. This is the 2nd time I have moved with Two Men & a Truck and they were great once again. I lived in a 3rd floor apartment with a narrow staircase and a bedroom on a 4th floor. Two guys showed up (early, even!) and got everything packed away in about an hour. When they arrived we completed some simple but thorough paperwork and they asked for a tour of what they would be moving. They used plastic wrap and other protective materials on my items, and they were very careful with everything they touched. They even stopped at a second location to pick up a couch and chair. When we arrived at the new apartment, the guys removed their shoes and laid down moving blankets and plastic on the carpet before putting their shoes back on. They consistently asked if they were putting things in the right places and offered to move anything when they were done. I started to assemble my bed while they worked and they came in to help me. They finished earlier than estimated (which means it cost less!), were incredibly nice, and they were respectful of neighbors (twice they moved their truck to let someone park or leave). I highly recommend this location. My movers were Jason, and a tall guy from Boston whose name I didn't catch. read more

I have used 2 men and a truck 3 times. The first 2 times were great. Unfortunately the last time was horrible. They sent 4 men, saying the 4th was for free as he just wanted some hours. The first thing out of his mouth was "We take cash." They proceeded, with pants hanging halfway down their butts, to rip the screws out the side of my desk, take 20 minutes for 3 of them to wrap a small piece of glass for a piece I was paying them to remove; didn't wrap anything! I paid extra for tarps as the weather was bad so they wouldn't track my house after having had the carpeting cleaned and they said they "forgot" them. This charge was never removed. They damaged/destroyed my kitchen table and 1 of the chairs, broke an antique churn and antique lamp, destroyed my desk, ripped the netting off the underneath of my love seat and more. I disputed a charge of $300.00 with my credit card and nothing could be done as I signed the contract. This dispute wouldn't have even covered the cost of my kitchen set! Few pictures below. 5 very well-deserved stars to Two Men and a Truck... this is my 3rd time moving with them. Every time they've exceeded my expectations and made moving a lot less stressful than it could be. From Stormy in the office to Chris, Josiah, and JoJo the movers, everything went as well as I could have expected. They call you back fast when you call for an estimate. They sell boxes and will deliver them to your place for free if you order more than $50 worth. The boxes we really reasonably priced and good quality. Stormy in the office was awesome to deal with- she's a real pro and is extremely responsive. Chris, Josiah and Jojo were fantastic. Totally polite, careful, efficient, and professional. Not a single thing was broken. In spite of some awfully brutal heat they did a fantastic job and busted their butts for the entire time they were out. I would not hesitate to recommend Two Men and a Truck anytime you need moving done... these guys are the best. read more

We just had the worst moving experience with this company. We went through the estimation process listing all the items we wanted to have moved. They suggested 4 men and 5 hours total moving time. They sent us 4 men who had never worked together as a team before and it was a complete disaster. They were constantly arguing with each other which slowed things down significantly. They were the opposite of efficient because of their dislike for one another and we are the ones who payed the price. I do not know what was going on between them. During unloading I asked them several questions regarding putting things back together that they took apart and they said ok and walked away to supposedly do it. But then when I went to check on it it wasn't even done. I had to go back to them and say hey you didn't do it and direct them to do it again. My husband had to help them unload because they were taking so long it was just getting frustrating. And even when they said everything was unloaded and put back together my husband and I found multiple things that were not put together. The experience was worse then awful it's everyone's nightmare experience. Then the "boss" Chris came over and was trying to smooth things over and discount our services because it was taking way too long and he knew it. I am just going to say charging us for 1 hour more than I was estimated was not even close for making up all the work my husband had to do to help during the move and after the move to put everything back together that they forgot. Plus they put a huge dent in my fridge which will serve as a constant reminder of how bad this company was. I cannot stress enough how horrible our experience was and how expensive it was as well. Absolutely not worth what we were charged and I feel robbed of my time and money. If they are putting a team that has never worked together they need to supervise them the entire time because they hated each other. They openly argued and stormed off when they didn't agree. our bill was considerably over the estimate. The movers were very careless and were supposed to wrap all furniture and put the mattresses in bags. They didn't bring the bags so they used the shrink wrap for mattresses and didn't have enough for the furniture. A glass sided curio was shattered and there were many nicks on the furniture that wasn't wrapped and they didn't even wrap all the mattresses. it took me forever to get reimbursed for the broken cabinet and the people I spoke to seldom did what they said they would do. Don't move electronics/TVs with this company!!!!! There is an uncharge for TVs and we thought movers were going to use special TV cartons for protection--the kind you can buy at uHaul. Our 49" Samsung TV that we paid over $1,000 for was just wrapped with a moving blanket just like our other furniture. The uncharge was for "extra special handling" as we were told by Laura--Office Mgr when trying to file a damage claim. Flags should have been raised when we saw the driver of the truck unable to backup onto our driveway. The same man kept slamming the front door when he would enter and exit the house. My husband had to ask him not to slam the door. He was obviously upset about something and had a very bad attitude. Continuing with the horrible experience, Kate help my husband with the reservation and said his motorcycle and power washer would be no problem to transport. On the day of move the movers refused to load both onto the truck because of safety concerns. We had to hire another company who told us in advance that if the gasoline was completely drained from both items it would be transported without a problem. I would never use the company again. They suck. Brian the manager should not even be a manager with the nasty attitude he has towards customers. I called in and received a quote. I was told $1000 dollars for 2 hours and if I use 3 hours or more I will be charged $1300. My appointment was for 8am. They arrived at 9am. They did not start moving things till 10am. The men had me sign a waiver for any damages to my property. They busted my 65 inch flat screen and did not mention this. Screws are missing from my other tv. When I called to complain I was treated like a liar from this manager named Brian. This is not the company you want to do business with. read more

Nine months ago I used two men and a truck. I was given a quote of four hours. The guys that came then were quick and efficient, on time and a fantastic attitude. (Even though it was 97 degrees out that day) They moved me start to finish in 3.5 hours. They were amazing. I own a real estate company and have referred TMT because of that one experience. Needless to say I will NOT be recommending TMT ever again after my last experience a week ago. The guys that showed up to move me were a little late...No Problem. One guy walked in an groaned and said "you got a lot more stuff than we thought cause we are suppose to go on another job later. They were SO slow moving boxes.They took a 3.5 hour job and made it 8 hours. I didn't have anymore "stuff" than I had nine months ago. As a matter of fact I had less because I had had a garage sale. They complained about how many days in a row they had worked. Which upset me about the management at your company. You sent me people that should have adequate time off. I am sure they were tired and therefore they were slow. They broke a 250.00 lamp because he picked it up by the top and not the base. At about hour 3 I got a call that there was an issue that I had to take care of at my new house. I asked the movers if I could leave. They said yes. A HUGE MISTAKE!! After the movers had moved me into my new house I took a drive to the condo I had to drop the keys off. when I walked in the house I was furious. They left 15 boxes an end table and a lamp. So after I had to pay more than my estimate for slow movers I got the pleasure of moving boxes in my small car which took me 4 trips at 30 minutes round trip. I would NOT recommend this Two Men and a Truck office. The person that I dealt with to get my quote did a great job but the general manager that called to take my deposit was VERY unreasonable. At the time of my reservation, the closest office in Downers Grove was closed due to COVID-19 so all moves were being done from the Plainfield office. I simply asked if I could get a credit for the difference in travel time since this was out of my control. He smugly stated that it was also out of his control and that he would cancel my reservation. I tried to stop him and pay my deposit but he hung up on me and cancelled my reservation. That's unbelievable in a time of economic stress. It's not like a credit for the difference in travel would have been much different and now they have lost what would have likely been a $1,000 purchase. Absolutely unbelievable! Red Flag! Do not use this company! I hired the company for an internal move before the start of my renovation. They drop my marble dining table and it was damaged, they gave me a little over a $100 for what I thought was going to be a $840 repair. Moving forward, I called them back to put my furniture back in place and requested the same movers because they knew how everything was placed. They sent out different people without letting me know, the guys called the office and they said one of the guys was no longer with the company. Thanks for letting me know. Also, they said I needed three people because of the weight of the table. Two guys were moving the table and it just fell apart. The table was damaged more than I thought from the initial move. Now I'm without a $5000 unique table that I do not have the means to replace. Nor, is it available. The company has not rectified the situation and with their policies, I do not believe it will be acceptable with the amount of my loss. read more

I think this may be our worst experience yet! I moved a mile away and contacted this company for moving larger items only. I will admit that I have a lot of things in my home, but they sent 3 teenagers to move my belongings. We hired the company for 6 hours, and they hadn't packed anything on the truck. They ended up moving half of the things that we originally identified for moving. When I contacted the manager, he told me his guys moved slow because my home was unorganized. They teens spent hours taking workout equipment apart, we ended up paying them to stay longer, but still had to hire another company who moved everything in our home in half the time and half the price. Several items were broken, initially I was happy that I purchased the insurance for additional protection, but at the end it wasnt worth it at all. Waste of money for sure. read more

BEWARE! Do not use this location or this company. They have inexperienced movers who are under paid and could care less about your belongings. The truck broke down and they charged me while they had to fix their truck on the highway. Several items were damaged because they did not pack the items correctly. They offered me $39 when I filed a claim to cover over $1,000 in damaged furniture. Don't do it. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and take them to court to recoup my loss. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! I used them on 2/2/7/15 and it was like herding monkeys. They sent 3 young men who were fresh out of "training". They didn't know what they were doing and it was chaos from the moment they arrived. They dropped my desk down the stairs and shattered it. Ditto a bookcase. They dragged my box springs through a salt-filled puddle. Lost all the pegs to my brand new media case so I can't put the shelves in. Packed frozen food in the bottom of a box filled with cleaning supplies and left it sitting on my living room floor, only to be discovered when it started leaking. Left the first place without telling me, leaving one room not packed and not moved, leaving me to do it myself. This is just a small sample of the circus they made of my move and the damage they did to my property. I asked them to protect my floors at the new address as they were brand new. They didn't put down any floor protection, tracking water and salt all over the floors and new carpeting. Once again, left the new place without telling me and before they were finished, and I ended up getting locked out in the cold for 2 hours trying to stop them from leaving. When their operations manager came out to inspect the damage, he called my furniture cheap and told me he refused to believe me when I told him I wasn't offered mattress protection. They are now offering me $0.30 per pound for the damages. That won't begin to replace or repair the damage they've done. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! read more

Used these guys a year ago. The only reason that I wanted movers was because we had new furniture that I didn't want to ruin. Low and behold, these guys ruined it. Back of leather couch was all gouged up. When I questioned the leader of the moving crew, they tried claiming that it was due to "an unusual circumstance". The door was the same size on both ends, and they got it out of the old place fine. Now, they did honor the state required insurance...but the damage is unrepairable and the insurance payout was not even close to being enough to replace the couch. Looking to move again in a month. Won't even consider these guys. If I want my stuff damaged, I'll just get a bunch of friends to help me move and save my $$$. Take a pass on this group. You might pay a few bucks more for another company, but it's probably worth it. read more

Absolutely terrible. The driver was rude and had a bad attitude about packing my items, which I was paying $10 per box, at the minimum. They broke one of my suitcases because they put 250 lbs of gym weights in it. They threw an irreplaceable ceramic lamp in a duffle bag, which caused it to shatter. They then proceeded to lose my new Shark vacuum. They also would ask where boxes went but place them somewhere completely different. They offered me $60 for my suitcase and $0.30 per pound for my lamp and vacuum. read more

If you do not want your furniture to be ruined PLEASE do not use 2 men and a truck! 3 young teenagers came to move my large home, did not use proper equipment and have scratched and banged my expensive furniture. What should of been a 5/6 hour move took them 8+plus hours and they could not fit all my furniture in there trunk. Which left my husband and I to fend for ourselves in hiring a trunk to get the rest of the furniture. Please do not use.
