We came here with a group of friends that all spend…read moretime at Oktoberfest some time ago and were looking to reconnect without having to fly to Munich. THIS was my favorite place of the stay, and the most authentic. You sit at benches/picnic tables, the food is spaetzle and schnitzel, the drinks are reasonable and the feel is pure German. If you have ONE stop, do Bodensee...and if you're staying for the weekend, make this your last meal. Highly recommended!!

Staff here is lovely. Even though we got here one busy night, everyone was attentive to what we wanted. The little one got a chicken tender plate with fries and a side of veggies, and my husband and I split the platter for two. Our waitstaff forgot our veggies, but quickly helped resolve this when we brought it up. The veggies came out tasting delicious. The platter for two was great, tons of meats and a great side dish of gut friendly foods. I wish the sauce was on the side, but it was a nice flavor. The reason for 3 stars was the musical entertainment. I wish there was an option for 3.5 stars, I don't think 4 stars accurately represents this restaurant. The musicians were so talented and got us all excited to be there. It was great to hear some guests know some songs, which added a unique atmosphere to this restaurant. We'd def go back, but prefer another German restaurant when visiting Helen.

If you're craving authentic German comfort food, this is the place…read more As a trained chef, I was impressed from the first bite. The Jägerschnitzel featured a perfectly crisp pork cutlet smothered in a rich, earthy mushroom gravy loaded with mushrooms and just the right amount of cream. The spaetzle was buttery and tender, and the potato pancakes were crispy around the edges with a soft, savory center. Pair them with the applesauce and sour cream for the full experience. The German potato salad was easily one of the best I've had, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of tang, and the sweet and sour red cabbage was the ideal companion to the rich schnitzel. We also sampled several traditional sausages, each with its own distinct flavor and snap. Everything tasted homemade, comforting, and true to its German roots. Add in the charming Bavarian atmosphere and a genuinely warm, attentive server, and it felt like a little trip to Germany without leaving North Carolina. I'll absolutely be back. I pretty much order the same thing every visit because I love it that much, the HÜHNERSCHNITZEL with potato salad and red cabbage, and to start we always get the giant pretzel with beer cheese. It just hits after being out in the sun all day. The schnitzel is always flavorful and comforting, and that pretzel with beer cheese is one of those appetizers that disappears fast. The restaurant itself is also really cute. You can sit inside or out on the balcony which is such a nice spot to eat and people watch. Service has always been good every time we've gone too. Overall, if you're spending the day in Helen, I definitely think this place is worth stopping at.
