    Great views!
    Lara H.

We had a great overall experience at Blue Parrot Grill, good food, great drinks, and waterfront dining of Lake Norman that really sets the tone. We both ordered the seafood trio. The shrimp and scallops were excellent, fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The mahi, however, was a bit dry and didn't quite match the quality of the rest of the dish. As for appetizers, I'd probably skip the gator bites next time, they were chewy and lacked flavor. Service was attentive and friendly, and the views alone make this place worth the visit. With a couple of menu tweaks, this could easily be a standout spot. Please note, Toucan's Lakefront Restaurant and Blue Parrot Grill are located directly next door to each other at 167 and 169 Pinnacle Lane in Mooresville, NC, and share a parking area. Both restaurants are owned by the same family, Alida and Peter Gjuraj. The shared parking lot is known to be limited during busy times and located on a sloped incline. Toucan's is open year-round, Blue Parrot Grill is primarily an outdoor venue that operates from March 1 through October 31.

First time here.. I am thinking I will try the crab cake.. nope.. all filler and for 28.00 it is not worth it. The atmosphere is nice, beautiful scenery and good beer.

The vibes here are immaculate - truly 5/5. You're tucked in with a little marina to pull up to, super close to the water. We sat in the shade, and they have bar seating as well. All the beers are bottled, which to me was a slight bummer, as i personally prefer the taste of draft beer. That said, they have a good range of options and lots of frozen cocktails in addition to your usual suspects. Food was good - it won't change your life - but solid seafood in a casual, beachy setting. You'll be happy with whatever you order. I'd be here often for drinks. Our server was super attentive, very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks came out fast. Again, nothing is going to change your life, but you feel like you're on island time, and you could hang out all day. Prices were fair as well. This is more of a 3.5/5, but Yelp has its limitations lol. We live a little far, but enjoyed this spot and would come back!

The Blue Parrot Grill is a great place to have a drink and look out over the water. Views would be especially good at the seats pictured. As it was, we were tired and a little hungry, so this gave us a decent place to relax and refuel. We would probably return if we were in the area.

Amazing start to 2026 season! Food was excellent! Service was perfect. They have a great group of wait staff that works together to make your experience the best! We come for the view. This place always makes us feel like we are on vacation!

First blue parrot makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean The view is one of a kind. And the food and drink are great.

Lovely place right on the water. We had an early lunch for 7 people. I had the Caribbean chicken bowl which was super flavorful packed with pilaf, black beans and chicken. Server was super nice and I would def come back here again if ever in NC.

We also loved they have this! We had one & he was part of our family... his name was freeze and my MIL adopted him.

We moved to the lake this past summer and we love to come and sit at the bar, have some YUMMY frozen drinks and their teriyaki shrimp is "chefs kiss"

    Beautiful sunset spot

A low-key gem I almost do not want to review and give away! Service is amazing, servers seemed to enjoy working here. The drinks WOW - I was afraid that the sweet will be too sweet but they were just right (and that's a compliment from an AAPI) Food Always get the crab cake. Other seafood is 50:50 - usually overcooked and/or saltier than flavor, but it's not a michelin spot, nor did it uncharged for being next to the water.

We stopped by here after an trip to nearby attraction. It was on the noisy side being there was a bachelorette party there and they keep the music loud but it was a Friday afternoon. The service was great and the food was excellent too. I have to say the shrimp or the biggest we've seen around and tasted awesome. One member of my party had the fried shrimp platter while I had the blackened shrimp on a salad and both were excellent. I love the ambiance overlooking the lake. It was a 90 plus degree day so the table umbrellas and fans definitely helped. I'd love to come back next trip down and catch the sunset.

So they share parking lot with toucan, which is right next door. Parking is quite limited when it's busy time. It's on a slanted slope so it's weird and scary looking lol. The first item we ordered was chicken and shrimp plate, the bbq chicken was delicious. It was a good size for the both of us. The second time we went, we had surf and turf, ribeye and we ordered medium rare and it was like medium well. Kinda bland and not the best. Although we do enjoy their French fries. We also ordered their chili and it was okay. Not the best. Service is not the best here. They are kinda inattentive when it's busy, they kinda forget about you. But I think even when it's slow, you don't really get the best service either. It's lakefront, plenty of space I think. The ambiance is pretty chill. Like any other restaurant I guess.

I have stopped here twice for lunch when driving by. The atmosphere is a 10 on the lake with great views, comfortable seating, and fitting beach music. However, the food is blah. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but the Grilled Chicken Sandwich was boring, the fries weren't great, and the Chicken Tenders had no taste and it was a tiny portion for $11. The service was good. Overall, I would recommend giving it a shot just for the vibe, but I wouldn't recommend going here for the food.

The inside was decorated in a fun lake theme! Red flag alert: the menu is massive. I'm a firm believer that no kitchen can master everything from A to Z, and Toucan's kind of proves the point. It was "just okay," maybe as much as good but not quite GREAT but the Shrimp Platter actually held its own! The shrimp were huge, well-seasoned, and the rice and beans were a surprising highlight. The real MVP of the night, though, was our waitress. Managing a party of 15 is usually a recipe for disaster, but she was a total pro. Every order was correct, the food arrived hot, and our drinks never hit empty. Go for the lake vibes and the stellar service, stay for the shrimp, but maybe keep your expectations for the rest of that giant menu in check. A solid choice for a big group outing! The cocktails looked refreshing, but overall were just okay taste-wise. Food was decent, nothing bad but nothing that really stood out either. Service was unfortunately the biggest downside. We waited quite a while for someone to greet us outside, even though there were only a couple other tables. I finally went inside to find a server and noticed the staff all gathered together while there weren't any tables inside. Overall, I'd come back for the view and atmosphere, but not necessarily for the food, drinks, or service.

I ordered the pork belly bao buns, but they missed the mark for me. Coming from NY, I'm used to bao buns being marshmallow-soft and pillowy, but these were a hard, and the pork belly itself was quite tough. Our wonderful waitress noticed I only took one bite and brought the manager over. He explained that the cut is naturally mostly fat, which I understand, but the texture just wasn't quite right because it should be tender not tough. I declined a replacement dish, and he kindly credited it on our bill, though the interaction felt a little awkward. My husband's salmon unfortunately had a very heavy mustard flavor. The spinach farrotto underneath was quite salty. Since there isn't a kids menu which is fine, my daughter ordered the burger plain, but it wasn't really a hit for her. My coconut guava Paloma was okay definitely the best part of my meal though it tasted a little artificial. The ambiance has a lot of potential, and they had live music playing. However, it was a bit too loud for the space, forcing guests to raise their voices just to speak to each other. We also noticed our table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly before we sat down. The absolute silver lining of our evening was our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, highly attentive, and took great care of us. She is truly the reason I am giving 3 stars. She mentioned that they offer a completely different menu for brunch. Because the setting is so pretty and the service was so good, we might give them another chance for brunch down the road, but we likely wouldn't return for dinner. Proof that lighting and plating can hide a lot! Captured these beautiful views last night, even though the dinner itself was a bit of a letdown.

Our server, Payton, was kind, provide good service throughout our meal. I ordered the fish and chips and the steak, and both were very good. The beautiful waterfront view and live music made for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. My only suggestion is for the staff who seat guests. First impressions are everything in hospitality, and I noticed the menus and napkins were tossed onto the table rather than being placed down with care. It may seem like a small detail, but it sets the tone for the entire dining experience. I work in the hospitality industry and have traveled all over the world, and I've learned that outstanding customer service is just as important as great food. Even on busy nights, those little touches make guests feel welcome and encourage them to come back.

2nd edit .. i am finished exchanging with the owner. My record stands for itself on Yelp and so…read moredoes the owner's. Negative reviews boil down to the way she treats customers and the environment she promotes. But as she likes to say... NEXT .. This is bullying behavior and it doesn't look very professional. On every review platform others have been treated exactly the same. A Tip? for what exactly? The stellar service? Ruining my birthday dinner? Maybe she should pay her tip as the owner for treating customers this way. It IS refreshing to hear her defend her employees, as I have read comments by former employees she's treated horribly. My daughter-in-law simply said she felt sorry for the server working under these conditions. The owner responds to unfavorable reviews harshly. She wasn't present, didn't know the facts, yet responded within minutes of my review. To correct the account she provided: WE asked for the police after reaching an impasse. We were speaking with the manager, not "scolding" her daughter. We asked for the owner's contact information because we did not know the manager was her daughter. Once we learned that, my daughter-in-law asked for her father's information, assuming the owner might be "Eddie." It was an innocent misunderstanding. There was no shouting or harshness. Two steaks were overcooked. We intended to pay our $197 bill; we never refused. The police can confirm that. We never saw a receipt, only the total on a check. The claim that we refused payment is false. The fish remake offer came much later, after escalation, not immediately. I've written over 69 reviews in 14 years, and only four have been one-star reviews. This is the only review I've had to edit in response to untrue claims. We chose this restaurant to celebrate despite locals warning us about bad experiences. The menu looked promising. Most of the food was fine; the issue was service. As long as everything goes perfectly and you don't complain, you'll probably be fine. We were seated on a side patio in direct sun with no shade despite having a very fair-skinned infant with us. We asked to move and were reseated inside, even though we had requested a lake view, believing this was the only patio. We were not told there was a shaded back patio. The hostess made it feel like an inconvenience. Our server later explained seating is based on server quotas, not guest preference. We rarely saw our server; expo delivered most food. When I spoke to someone in a "Staff" jacket about seating (later identified as the owner's daughter), she turned away without engaging. The issue escalated when both steaks were overcooked twice. After another wait, a manager arrived who had been shucking oysters nearby without acknowledging us. Her shirt was soiled, which raised concern about presentation. She said inconsistent steak cooking was not something they could control. The steak was remade, but still overcooked. Because it was my birthday, my husband waited to eat with me while others started. By the time my replacement arrived, his fish sandwich was cold and no longer served at an appropriate holding temperature, which raised concerns about food safety. We again asked to speak with someone and were told it was the owner's daughter. We said we would pay for everything except the overcooked steak and cold sandwich. She refused. Because we could not resolve it, we asked for police assistance. Employees stood near the front door though we had never refused to pay. The sandwich was later offered to be remade, but by then we were ready to leave. The issue was never payment. It was poor food quality, poor service, and refusal to correct a reasonable complaint. The steak was eventually removed from the bill. The issue came down to a cold sandwich and the expectation that a party dining together should eat together. When mistakes happen, acknowledgment matters more than excuses. I have dined worldwide and rarely experienced service like this. After reading other reviews, I noticed a pattern of the owner dismissing feedback and responding defensively rather than constructively, which may explain the low ratings. Aside from this restaurant, we had a wonderful visit to the area and found other great restaurants. I only wish we had read reviews beforehand. The police told us the owner said we were no longer welcome back. OH Darn.
