My date and I visited The Blue Parrot Grill for lunch, and it honestly turned out to be the perfect lunch date spot. It was a beautiful day, and the atmosphere of sitting outside on the deck overlooking the waterfront was absolutely perfect. Relaxing views, great weather, and a laid-back vibe made for an awesome experience. The food was great too! She started with the Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap appetizer and absolutely loved that it came with a side of asparagus -- and honestly, the asparagus was delicious. The only downside was she forgot to ask for no onions on the wrap, so she only had a few bites, but that definitely wasn't the restaurant's fault. I actually took the rest home for lunch at work the next day, and it was really good. For her main meal, she ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and truly enjoyed it. I started with the wings and tried the Italian Garlic sauce -- first time I've ever seen that flavor offered anywhere -- and it was delicious! For my main course, I went with the BLT and was very happy with my choice. Overall, between the food, the service, and the waterfront atmosphere, this was a really enjoyable experience and a great place for a lunch date. We'll definitely be back. read more

Drove over an hour to see some live music (who was very good - Jared Evans) but we were very disappointed in our overall experience. The drinks: The two girls ordered Miami Vice and I ordered a Rum Runner. The Vices were not frozen the strawberry puree was not a puree and the pubs colada potion tasted like whip cream - had to return them they were so bad. My Rum Runner was meh at best. The Bahama Mamma wasn't much better as the mix of the drink was way off compared to the liquor. My beer was barely cold. The food: Appetizers: Fried pickles and fried Mac & Cheese bites - both delicious My blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich was delicious and was cooked to perfection. My onion rings were huge but way undercooked. My wife's buffalo chicken salad very little flavor except the chicken pieces themselves. Huge amounts of ice berg lettuce but mostly the bitter white parts. Very little other greens at all. Our friends Mahi Mahi Tacos were delicious. Service: Food and drinks were served relatively fast & our server was attentive. I did find her annoyingly over the top. She kinda ruined the whole relaxing vibe. Our total bill was $118.00 (they did not charge us for the 2 bad drinks) Overall, not worth the drive. The view of lake Norman is so-so unless you're right along the railing. As someone who grew up in the Atlantic boardwalk culture, the ambiance of a bayside bar & grill is spot on. Gorgeous sunset views, boat docks, reggae music, and a beachy cocktail menu. The food also looked similar in its offerings- lots of seafood. Shrimp, different types of fish prepared various ways, and supposedly "homemade crab cakes". I ordered the entree... which came with 3 large round flat Patties made with imitation crabmeat and fillers. For $30 I would have rather gotten 1 good size handmade lump crabcake with Atlantic blue crab than 3 'krabby Patties' My dining mates food was all decent, and as expected but nothing to make you crave returning for the food alone. We had a great overall experience at Blue Parrot Grill, good food, great drinks, and waterfront dining of Lake Norman that really sets the tone. We both ordered the seafood trio. The shrimp and scallops were excellent, fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The mahi, however, was a bit dry and didn't quite match the quality of the rest of the dish. As for appetizers, I'd probably skip the gator bites next time, they were chewy and lacked flavor. Service was attentive and friendly, and the views alone make this place worth the visit. With a couple of menu tweaks, this could easily be a standout spot. Please note, Toucan's Lakefront Restaurant and Blue Parrot Grill are located directly next door to each other at 167 and 169 Pinnacle Lane in Mooresville, NC, and share a parking area. Both restaurants are owned by the same family, Alida and Peter Gjuraj. The shared parking lot is known to be limited during busy times and located on a sloped incline. The vibes here are immaculate - truly 5/5. You're tucked in with a little marina to pull up to, super close to the water. We sat in the shade, and they have bar seating as well. All the beers are bottled, which to me was a slight bummer, as i personally prefer the taste of draft beer. That said, they have a good range of options and lots of frozen cocktails in addition to your usual suspects. Food was good - it won't change your life - but solid seafood in a casual, beachy setting. You'll be happy with whatever you order. I'd be here often for drinks. Our server was super attentive, very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks came out fast. Again, nothing is going to change your life, but you feel like you're on island time, and you could hang out all day. Prices were fair as well. We stopped by here after an trip to nearby attraction. It was on the noisy side being there was a bachelorette party there and they keep the music loud but it was a Friday afternoon. The service was great and the food was excellent too. I have to say the shrimp or the biggest we've seen around and tasted awesome. One member of my party had the fried shrimp platter while I had the blackened shrimp on a salad and both were excellent. I love the ambiance overlooking the lake. So they share parking lot with toucan, which is right next door. Parking is quite limited when it's busy time. It's on a slanted slope so it's weird and scary looking lol. The first item we ordered was chicken and shrimp plate, the bbq chicken was delicious. It was a good size for the both of us. The second time we went, we had surf and turf, ribeye and we ordered medium rare and it was like medium well. Kinda bland and not the best. Although we do enjoy their French fries. We also ordered their chili and it was okay. Not the best. Service is not the best here. They are kinda inattentive when it's busy, they kinda forget about you. I have stopped here twice for lunch when driving by. The atmosphere is a 10 on the lake with great views, comfortable seating, and fitting beach music. However, the food is blah. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but the Grilled Chicken Sandwich was boring, the fries weren't great, and the Chicken Tenders had no taste and it was a tiny portion for $11. The service was good. Toucans and the Blue Parrot are "The place to be" on the lake! The views from this restaurant are beautiful. There are no inside seats here like there are at Toucans.. which I prefer outside so it works out.. we normally try to eat at blue parrot first! The music makes the environment. The food is good not great in my opinion but the alcoholic drinks are GREAT. On the early evening of Friday, March 27, 2026, I have a very dear friend who came to this establishment with his dog , just as they have for many years prior. My friend and his dog., which, by the way, his dog is a registered service animal, were greeted with disrespect , discrimination, and seemingly hostile approaches from an employee and another gentleman . The employee proceeded to harshly verbalize to my friend that his dog was not welcome and they would have to leave. The random gentlemen physically grabbed the chair and just about pulled it out from under my friend.! His dog had on collar and leash which were fastened to the chair. Under federal law , ADA , Americans with Disability Act, strictly prohibits, any discrimination towards any individual with a disability , and when individuals are assisted by a service animal and are denied access to the establishment heavy lawsuits, fines, and penalties are consequences of the establishments denial. When an individual enters any establishment and our assisted by a service animal, by law, the establishment can only ask two questions to the individual: question 1: is the animal assisting you due to a disability? Question 2: what type of skills does this animal perform to assist you? They are not allowed to ask for certified animal service documentation and they are not allowed to ask about the individuals disability. The only time an establishment may legally deny the individual and the service animal access is if the animal shows any type of aggressive behavior. I myself can personally vouch for the character of this animal, as well as anywhere from 250,000 to 350,000 individuals from North Carolina down to Key West, Florida and as far Midwest to South Dakota that have come in contact and have interacted with this animal that this animal shows absolutely no aggressive behavior at all whatsoever. The Blue Parrot Grill has broken numerous federal laws, and I believe this can go without saying have displayed mannerisms of common courtesy and customer service. read more

We went to the Blue Parrot patio and moved seats and began to sit down, It was half full because we didn't see anyone to help us around. A group of 3 staff members came out with an ugly attitude and told us we couldn't eat there (thought this because we had a box of leftovers that we were planning to eat it there), and we are not allowed to just move tables. Then made faces at us. The same girl with a pony tail started to talk to another staff member while we could hear every word and rolled her eyes at us. That is not the customer service we expected. last weekend of the season: it was 70 degrees and clear skies with the sun shining on the patio... pulled the umbrella so we wouldn't waste any of the warm. only took a second to get accustomed to the glare off the water but we never did get adjusted to the cackling of NYC lawyers on holiday or the unsupervised youth running amok but Trevor did his best to make it work for us: we started with shrimps and cocktails then a couple fishes and finally a mild word of contempt for the rabble: half a dozen blackened shrimps and a few pineapple rings arrived in all their barbequed-rum glazed tiki glory. managed to finish the plate without soiling my shirt so yeah..!! as we bid them farewell my very nearly perfect fish sandwich showed up accompanied by steamed brocollis and some sauce while the cutest of chicks had fish her way: grilled plus fried plantain and a nice pile of slaw. we both went with the mahi and were quite pleased with it all: soft buns, light flakey fishes, crisp shredded slaw, and non-mush veggies :-) kinda bummed that this was the last scheduled weekend, but kinda glad we end the season oh a high note ...and Trevor says Toucan's next door is open year round for your tiki fix (and maybe a singapore sling?!) read more

The sunsets just adds to the great food and great service. It is rare that you find great seafood inland North Carolina.

We came here on Mother's Day to celebrate two birthdays and had a party of 13. Got there as soon as they opened and were able to secure a table big enough. It was covered and right on the water. Our server was really wonderful. Price for food is extremely affordable compared to other places on the water. The drinks, while absolutely delicious, seemed weak? I had 2 Miami vices and hardly caught a buzz. Someone else in our group got a piña colada and it tasted like a virgin. Overall, the ambiance, service & prices will have us coming back. We had a $77 tab with 4 frozen drinks, 2 entrees and 1 kids meal. I've spent that at a Chili's and that obviously doesn't even compare to a view and menu like this. My wife and I just moved to the Lake Norman area from Alabama (still have Alabama licenses). I have previously dined at this establishment a few times when taking the boat out. Today was a special day the bar tender grabs my ID feels it and says this ID does not feel real.... My job requires me to be above the age of 21 to be able to hold the licenses that I hold. I attempted to show my other government issued documentation but the bar tender went and got the manager, the manager came up to me pushed the cards towards my direction and I quote " WE ARE NOT SERVING YOU." I replied I have been here multiple times and pretty frequent. he said "I HAVE BEEN HERE 17 YEARS, WHEN YOU TOP THAT COME BACK." this disrespect from him was unreal. make sure you have only a North Carolina licenses everyone. read more

It's a saturday night, and my friends and I were looking for a good dinner spot. We found this place online and we called ahead to inquire about our party of 8. The girl who picked up the phone recommended we show up 30 minutes before to ensure we get seated at our preferred time. I'm not sure who the girl was, but clearly she only wished for our demise. Like the good civilians we are, we do as she says, we show up at 6:30 with the intent to be seated at 7. Once we approach the counter to put our name down, the host tells us with a malicious smile, "The wait will be one hour." I am slightly startled but I regain my composure and go back to the waiting area with a smile. A hour and a half passes, I go back up to the same host. His blonde side part that was falling off the side of his head distracted me for a second before I asked him about the hold up. He proceeded to tell me we would be seated soon. 30 more minutes pass and my blood starts to boil. I even saw the two male hosts mock me and laugh at our group still waiting as if this was some little game, but they didn't know who they were dealing with... I then saw one of the hosts bend down to pickup a menu off of the floor and all I could see was a sparkly rainbow thong gleaming in the moonlight, because it was now nightfall. After waiting over two hours the boyfriends led us to our table and slam the menus down as if to prove a point. They then walked away with sass comparable to a privileged 16 year old girl who drives a white Range Rover. What we soon discovered was that McDonald's has nicer facilities than this restaurant. My poor friend who is handicapped had to climb over the table just to get into her seat. She recently got into a boating accident which cause her leg to be twisted at a 18.5 degree angle and the fact she had to put her life at risk to get into a chair just disgusted me immensely. As we finally relaxed into our seats we took in the atmosphere, blue LED lights everywhere. I don't know who's gonna tell them, but this is a family restaurant, not a strip club. Our food arrived and I will give them props, it was pretty good. We paid, and started to walk out the door when I felt hot breath in my ear. It was the blondie from earlier, and he whispered to me, "Don't come back and stay away from my man." I laughed nervously because now I felt threatened by this string bean built boy. I got back to my car as quickly as I could and sighed in relief that I made it through that nightmare of a dinner. In conclusion, don't come to Blue Parrot. read more
