Bought an entry level Giant road bike for my 15 year old son about two months ago. He had a manufacturing defect with the rear derailleur after about a month. I'll give them this, they have lots of product. If you're in the market for an over priced beach cruiser or comfort bike, then this shop has a pretty good selection of Electra, Giant and Trek bikes. As someone who is an active bike rider, though, both road and mountain, this place has always been a total letdown. The staff is generally friendly, but I never get the impression that any of them are that enthusiastic about bikes, know the product particularly well, or even ride for that matter. They have a smattering of higher end Treks and Giants, but no one there knows anything about them or can explain anything substantive about them. I don't think anyone there knows the difference between a presta and a shraeder valve. There's always just been a weird vibe about that place that's hard to put a finger on. I can't say it's really sterile. That would imply a degree of cleanliness, efficiency and organization. It's too dumpy and disorganized for that.. A better description would be "soulless and incompetent" It's like they decided to take the worst elements of generic corporate culture, namely the depersonalization, and didn't even include the obvious benefits in brand identity or organization. The tall, bald guy who's the manager is kind of creepy, and I think I remember him from Supergo years ago. Snide, awkward and not very personable, he's like the unholy spawn of Bill Lumberg from Office Space and Lurch from the Addams Family. It's not all bad, though. Some of the staff are actually pretty friendly, and it's gotten a bit better over the years. Still room for lots of improvement. read more

My husband purchased a beach cruiser here and loved it. I made so much fun of him because i called it his recliner on wheels -- not a true bike. the wheels are flat feet technology which is amazingly comfortable. so needless to say, i put my road bike on hooks in the garage and purchased my own beach cruiser. The service both times was excellent but different. Being in my 50's sometimes you have to gear down for the younger sales person, laid-back attitude. Both were very knowledgeable and super friendly. They both seemed to be anxious to want you to be happy and if you did or didn't buy the bike - that seemed OK with them. This i mean in a very good way. They mentioned that there was lifetime free service for any problem that could come up but there was NO high pressure sales at all. We purchased a couple inexpensive accessories and again received no pressure to do anything except be as happy with biking as they were. About a month later, my padlock developed a problem which they quickly fixed (unfortunately by cutting it off my bike) and then happily gave me a brand new lock at no charge. Although it is unclear whether this was my mistake or the lock's malfunctioning, they didn't hesitate to make sure i was happy even at my insistence i pay for the new one. They are sometimes very busy and you have to wait in line for service, be patient, it is worth the wait. read more

Great service but you get what you pay for. I bough a beach cruiser from this shop. The staff member that helped me was extremely knowledgeable and able to understand my needs and wants in a bicycle and steer me to the bicycle that i eventually fell in love with. They are a bit pricey but the level of service and customer care almost make up for this. Follow up had my chain break on the bike 2 months after purchasing it, when i brought it back in to get it replaced without hesitation they replaced it free of charge and sent me on my merry way. read more

Not knowing anything about bikes, nor haven ridden one in years... I was a little nervous as to what I was getting myself into. However, within seconds, this cute blond came up to rescue me from my sheer panic look. Peggy is her name, and she was extremely helpful. She helped me pick out a bike within my price range, that fit my tall stature, and helped me pick out all the additional things I needed (lock, lights, helmet). Everyone was so nice, and willing to work with me. They even specified my bike to make it easier to fit in my car. Great service, fun atmosphere. I would recommend anyone to check it out. Skip the service department. Both the person at the counter and the manager were rude and tried to rip me off. After repeating myself three times, I managed to push their paperwork back across the counter and walk out. They wanted $20 to look at a wheel, and I went down the street and fixed the problem for $1.62. They are used to people walking in with out a clue and swiping the credit card. Look around, there are better options offered by more professional service staff. read more

came here today to get my tires fixed today and i really enjoyed this place.... the staff here was very helpful and kind. i got helped out right when i walked into the door. my bike is running like a champ now. i did get a lesson on road rules to by a female staff member...her attitude was pretty rude but i guess its cause i was wrong and she has been riding for over 20 years. but otherwise a great place. i strongly recommend this place if your looking for a road bike...cruiser or a mountain bike. read more

Went into this shop to browse the cruiser bikes in hopes that my wife would find something she liked. We knew we wouldn't be buying something the first day as the search had just begun. The manager "Jeff" greeted us and was amazingly helpful. Absolutely NO pressure and we felt like he was legitimately there to help us find the perfect bike. He encouraged my wife to ride a couple bikes and she fell in love with the Townie bike. Jeff told us he had the bike in white but it wasn't built yet. He called the next day like we requested and said the bike was built and ready for viewing. We went back down and again he was very patient and attentive. My wife rode a couple of the bikes again and eventually found the perfect bike for her. We left the shop and went down to the strand and immediately went on about a 9 mile ride. We recently visited the Newport area from the north bay, and we needed to rent bikes for the day after discovering my sister bike we were going to borrow had been "lost", and my bike was broken. We got a late start after all this, so they generously gave us a half day rental rate, which helped a lot (seeing we were on a budget). I also think the rental bikes they gave us were of such a great quality, and felt practically brand new, I would have maybe bought one if I lived in the area! Upon returning to the shop, we had an unusual request for the part to my "broken" vintage European bike that was sitting back home (thus we had to rent), and the guy helping us was so nice that he went in the back and came back out with exactly what I was looking for, explaining they always keep spare part for this sort of thing. I was thrilled to say the least!!! They were so helpful, friendly and cool about what a pain in the ass we were! Despite the fact that we could have just got the part first, saving the money on the bike rental after all and just gone home to fix my bike, I was much more comfortable and stoked to be on one of their brand new, comfy cruisers and so happy we rented from them. Well worth the $...A+ all around!!! read more

We got ripped off at Two Wheels one Planet they sold us 3 tubes that were defective and they knew it because the put them on sale 3 for $12. Went through all three tubes very quick they were all definitely defective. Not cool - my son was stranded and we were all inconvenienced when this happened to use three times in a row. Hands down best bike shop in the coastal OC area. I have bought 3 bikes and countless accessories here and have yet to have an experience less than excellent. My latest purchase was my daughter's first "big girl bike." I bought it back in August when they were having an AMAZING sale, and they held onto it until Xmas for me. I picked it up Xmas Eve, and the guys helped me add some extra accessories, and made sure I was completely delighted. (And my little one was super stoked with her new bike!) Customer service is head and shoulders above other shops- staff are friendly, knowledgable and never pressure you. Live out of town but was visiting my sister in Newport. Got a new bike for my wife, at a big box store. A part of the brake fell off during transporting to Newport. Was told about Two Wheels, so went there. Dropped off the bike at 10 for the new part, and adjustments. They were finished at 4 as promised, work done was perfect and price very reasonable. Awesome, customer-focused service. I walked in with my bike needing minor service and Jonathan, the service manager, greeted me immediately. He looked over the bike and saw the issue. He fixed the issue while I waited and found a couple of other adjustments the bike needed. While he was making the adjustments, a salesperson approached me, complimented my bike (he's right, my Trek is awesome and I love it) and asked if I wanted to see the current model of my bike. He wasn't trying to sell me, because my bike is only last year's model, he was just trying to have conversation and build relationship for when I am ready to buy a new bike. Peggy spent an hour with me directing me through the apparel and the must haves of cycling wear. A week later I came back with new shoes, cleats and pedals.
