So this place is exactly what you expect. A local diner. The interior had a cool vibe but I brought my dog so we sat out on the porch (they have heat lamps!). There was ample seating space and 3 separate areas to sit outside (1 area was closed though when I went). I got the Alhambra which was 2 eggs (any style), 2 pieces of bacon or sausage, and 2 pieces of French toast or pancakes. I went with scrambled, bacon, and French toast. The eggs and bacon was nothing special, fairly decent. The French toast was pretty good though. The service was a bit lacking - the waiter was hard to get a hold of and my friend who had ordered coffee, his creamer had some mold (eek) growing in it. He was completely turned off by the coffee afterwards. The waiter didn't seem to care at all. Just told us that sucks, asked if he wanted a new cup, and left. Not sure I'll be back based on this experience which is a shame because I am a local and wanted to support. Parking is plentiful but beware the spots are tight. read more

Then the move to SoPas...the space is beautiful, a feel of old but with a modern take. The vibe is lively, upbeat music playing and people talking away. Great feel and energy here! With the move from old to new, the menu has become more appealing and modern. With a bar that serves some upscale libations and food selections and plating that make you feel like you're gonna spend more than you actually will. The food here was really good and definitely worth coming back for. Came at a time when it was empty. Unfortunately, the service wasn't the best. The girl at the front desk was rude and not very helpful, had us standing around and later tells us we need to go outside to be seated by the host .. when it was clearly obvious we were confused. It didn't seem like she wanted to help at all . and our waitress seemed uninterested and had a bit of an attitude, which took away from the overall experience. One of our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and we had lovely memories in the past years. I really hope today was the one off situation but seriously, I really don't want to go back anymore. It's a double birthday celebration, we brought our own cake, the front desk told us there will be an extra $25 dollar charge for cake, totally ok! By the time we are ready for the cake, I went to the front desk, they even told me there's sparklers! Super excited, yes! After awhile, our waitress came over and asked how many pieces would you like to cut it? I said thats fine we can cut our own cake! Shortly after, she brought entire cake to me, in the box. I asked, what about the sparklers? She said, i dont know about sparklers, but let me know if you need a lighter. We didnt want to bother, so we light our own candle, sang the song and cut the cake. While eating the cake, our waitress came again. She said, Im sorry. The guy asked me to ask you because he said you're the birthday girl. Do you want the ice cream with the sparkler on it? Is that what you want? No, I dont want ice-cream with a sparkler on it. I just want a sparkler on my cake like your front desk said and it would be already light up, on the cake, and bring to the table. Instead, as a birthday girl, I received my cake, in the box. Oh well, its ok. We still love this restaurant. After 5 minutes, a table around us, got a cake with that sparklers on top and delivered to their table. What. A. Joke. I went to the front desk, tried to ask why this $25 dollars cake fee would be like this, received a cake in the box and while you said you would give me a sparkler with no table service? She said, its because you didn't buy our pastry thats why we are charging you. Such a disappointment, felt very puzzled and underwhelming with all the treatment while we are spending $300 for the night at a diner. read more

Oh how I'm saddened to have to change this review. I invited my sister here yesterday and she can cook some delicious food, one of which is chilaquiles. She knows I love them, so I said let's head on over to Twoheys and try them out. I've had them there now maybe 3 times and every time they are plated beautifully. Nothing is stacked and everything is flavored perfectly. With all respect to the neighborhood, I anticipated a lightly spiced sauce on the chilaquiles, but to my surprise it was very good! Well having bragged about this place we arrived to order and upon receiving a bowl instead of a plate was a bit different, but why not. The tortillas tasted like they were raw masa (dough) the meat was definitely still mooing and tasted not only bloody, but rubbery and the sauce or the entire plate was anything but flavored. The food was with all respect, disgusting. I was embarrassed as I had bragged about their food and treated her to this disaster of a meal. We both put a ton of tapatio as we initially thought maybe it was us not the food, but to both taste the same raw meat and non flavored everything. Raw chips was odd. The tapatio did nothing for the plate. The Dutch Apple pancake was different than expected but as you can see we didn't touch it. Sadly were afraid to do so. Will I be back.. not anytime soon. It just really left a very bad taste in our mouths. $70 later we were not impressed at all. Don't stack chilaquiles like that guys. Add flavor pls. The sauce tasted like a can of enchilada sauce that had zero flavor Ambiance... beautiful, but the rest just didn't add up. read more

I was here Saturday for breakfast for the first time (3/2). Despite the rain, there were several people dining inside and waiting to be seated. Our party of 2 didn't wait too long to be seated. We sat in a booth. It felt like we had privacy, but it was on the loud side since it was busy. We both ordered the same meal, but my friend had the original pancakes. I'm curious to try the non buttermilk pancakes. It almost felt or tasted like the buttermilk pancakes were undercooked ? I inquired with a waitress and was told those were 2 eggs despite it looking so small. The portion of my friend's eggs looked twice the size of mine. This was a good amount of food 2 eggs, choice or bacon or sausage, 2 pancakes. Found a hair in my pancakes. :( I brought it to their attention, and my pancake was replaced. My beefs with Twoheys: Food isn't consistent from one day to the other. Example, I ordered the Chicken Picada. Outstanding. 3 days later I ordered it and the noodles floating in butter sauce.. Same issue with the Mushroom Pasta. Outstanding then a few days later noodles swimming in the sauce. I ordered breakfast with sausage. The sausage was pale. They didn't brown them. Would not recommend this restaurant if you have a stroller or need a high chair at your table. They have a strict fire code policy of only seating parties with strollers/high chairs at specific tables so you end up waiting a long time to get seated (which is not ideal if you have a fussy baby). We waited over 40 minutes and ended up ditching our stroller at the car to get seated instead of continuing waiting for a stroller friendly table. Food is fine, service is slow but friendly. But overall not worth the hassle if you have a little one! read more

It's been a while since I came out for breakfast at Twoheys. I know they have a good breakfast and excellent coffee so it was super difficult to decide what to order as I was trying to be healthier today and reading the menu I was like "Oooo pancakes! Ohhh bacon! Oooo French toast! Oooo sourdough!" I was a split second from ordering the Lumberjack breakfast that has everything pretty much, but Yelpers saved me... by posting delicious looking photos of the "Healthy Breakfast." I do like pesto and I liked the idea of not regretting everything I ate after I left. So... tried something new... and I did NOT regret it. The grilled chicken was DELICIOUS and the cold pesto was a perfect complement. I did get regular eggs instead of the egg whites, and so I liked my eggs lol... But the avocado, tomato, toast, fruit and everything else was perfect as is. I would totally get this again. I practically scarfed down the chicken it was so good. I did get the $4.50 coffee though - free refills and it's really good - plus I like their little carafe :) Service was good and food came out fast. I'll come for this again. read more

3.5 stars I used to go to the Alhambra location a lot when I was in college. It's where I tried my first Patty Melt, discover sweet potato fries, and had my first Monte Cristo. Yes, I was sheltered from American food...especiallyAmerican breakfast items. Unfortunately, I haven't been back since my college days, so I'm glad to have the opportunity to revisit Twohey's for brekkie. I ordered the Eggs Benedict ($15.95) and a French Toast ($10.95). I thought they were ok. I can't say they were the best I've ever had...just ok. I think my joy is based more on nostalgia and not having to do my own dishes after a meal. The Eggs Bennie came with a slice of chewy Canadian bacon. The hollandaise sauce was not too salty...and was a bit cheesy tasting to me which was good. There was 2 slices of French Toast that was pretty good as well. I look forward to coming back for lunch to get my familiar favorite - Patty Melt w/ sweet potato fries. read more

Senior citizen reporting: hey hey hey! They have an outside patio, which is covered and enclosed with a nice wall. The food is Wow! Wow! good! My favorites are the CORNED BEEF HASH EGGS BENEDICT and ROASTED CHICKEN. The menu is filled with lots and lots of choices. I dare you to find something you wouldn't want to eat! My first time here since they moved to South Pasadena from Alhambra. On a Sunday morning 9am in September, my hubby and I found parking in the back lot and sat in the bar area. The waitress behind the counter greeted us and watched football as we ordered our drinks. The decor inside is very nice with plenty of tables inside and patio. I ordered the craftsman-eggs, 2 sausages, hash browns, sour dough toast. The waitress was very nice and very good on refills of water and coffee. I've thought long and hard about posting this review. My husband and I were in on Valentine's day for a late lunch. We had onion rings, turkey dinner, salad, burger and iced tea. I understand that stuff happens, but I found a worm in my burger. I immediately got sick to my stomach and told the server. They comped our meals but made my husband and I pay for our drinks and onion rings. Unbelievable. I was so grossed out I didn't wanna wait around for a manager, but their handling of this situation is deplorable. The least they could have done was to take care of our entire bill. I had been meaning to come here since they first moved here. I love the look of the place. I was surprised that they have a soda shop, the bar, and the restaurant. It looks very modern and clean. The service was great and quick once we were seated. There was a bit of wait, and it was worth it. I forgot to get a picture of the biscuit and gravy, I think that maybe my new favorite. I love supporting local businesses, but when the managers don't train new employees, and don't reimburse you for their mistakes, then that's a problem. I placed an order over the phone. When I got my order, I realized it was not what I ordered. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager. She mentioned she was going to reimburse me for the mistake. She said the the girl who took my order was new. At the end, I didn't get my reimbursement and I couldn't eat what I got. It was disappointing. The manager the opportunity to make things right for the customer, but she failed to do so. Not sure if I will be ordering from here anymore. read more

I believe this is owned by the owner of Foothill rests in Pasadena. First time dining at this recently opened location ( think it opened within the past year unless I'm mistaken). We used to dine at the original location a couple of miles away on Huntington Drive. Love what they've done to this location and the breakfast was good. So many options and those in the know always are hip to the good portions and service that you can expect here Daughter ordered the s'mores pancake and she raved about it, which in itself says a great deal as she's even pickier than myself. Waffles were very tasty and they even had chicken and waffle option I believe. I tired the California Omelette and found it well prepared and tasty The restaurant itself is bright and fresh and the servers were quite attentive and since the menu had so much to offer I know that I can always find a variety of options upon my return. Been back here a couple times now, always loved having breakfast here, even before they moved to South Pasadena. Avocado Toast is new for us, but it was delicious according to our guest, and looks very yummy! We also ordered the Chorizo and Eggs plate and the Alhambra, which is essentially a breakfast combo of 1 egg, 2 pieces of bacon, plus French Toast. Everything tasted good, though not necessarily exceptional. But the zucchini bread was really quite tasty and moist! Been going to Twoheys since back in the 90s when I attended Alhambra High School and this place has had its ups and downs like any place. But it was basically my alternative to Norms since I ate there 4 days a week lol. Comfort food all around. Everything here is good. Service has always been good at both the original location and the new location. Prices have gone up but it's going to continue to climb as long as people continue to vote for it unfortunately. I absolutely loved dining in for the AYCE ribs specials during the holidays and now every Friday at this new location . Meaty hearty portions on refills. Juicy, tasty, and tender, they remind me of Tony Roma's in the past. Prices are a bit steep at $30 a person in comparison to Shiki Seafood Buffet $34.95 (ribs/seafood) in Rosemead and Vegas buffet in Glendale $29.95!(ribs seafood). As a result this place has priced me out after 30 years but will always remain home to me forever. The Twoheys bitter sweet sundaes are a staple. It really imo is one of the best desserts in the area. Twoheys desserts really are something to look forward to... it's something you have to order every time. Besides me whining about the AYCE pricing, everything else on the menu is just awesome combined with really good service every visit. French toast one of our favorites and while some reviewers complain about pricing of breakfast I just want to point out IHOP costs the same and more now but the quality of this restaurant in terms of theming and cleanliness is the winner every time. Shout out to previous servers and current ones: Special call out to Patricia (taller from old location), Crystal (previous location), Christian (a while back ago), and Daniel (glasses, super charismatic). While I wouldn't come back for AYCE I would for everything else and the service. Value for somethings -1 Star but otherwise still a 5 star establishment overall!
