Today was the worse cut I got from an hair stylist. The front desk person gave me this guy that had no idea what he was doing. Have you ever had a hair cut and the guy put mouse on your hair before he cut it. This place only has one good person cindy everyone else is a joke. He cut my hair in 3 mins and said it was done when I asked to cut a round cut that normally takes at least 20mins and there was barely anything done. They charged me $39 and said he spent time on it. They also jacked up my bangs it was a total waste of money and time. read more

I needed to get my hair colored before a wedding on a Friday and made a last minute appointment 2 days before. They were really accommodating with my appt, considering that I was requesting a 5:30 appt for an ombre job and they close at 7. I couldn't make it at any earlier times. Came to my appointment and was seated in no time. Cindy and her staff are really sweet and approachable. The coloring of my hair takes awhile so they ended up staying an hour past their closing time for me! The lady (name is Sa, I think) who worked on me didn't rush on me either. She took her time to make sure the color came out okay and styled my hair. I was really happy with the results and their service. I highly recommend them if you want your hair colored! I've gone here for a few years now and had my hair cut by three different stylists, all of which have been AMAZING! I consistently love the service and cut. Each are great at listening to what type of cut I am looking for and were meticulous with their service. They're friendly and lively, but aren't too talkative. They're good at checking in on you to make sure you like what you see and are thoughtful of their service. Beware if you have pet allergies as they do sometimes have their dog in the salon, but never barks and is well behaved. You may need to wait 15-20 minutes if you walk in without an appointment, but I never mind this! My appointments usually last anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour, but you get beautiful results because of how much care they put into it. I have been going to Ty for about 5 years now and I use to recommend them anytime someone asked for recommendations. I recently got my first dye job from them. Tbh I was extremely disappointed. I made my appointment specifically with Cindy and I was handed of to someone else. The lady doing my hair kind of forgot about me after putting bleach in my hair. In fact I think she over bleached it. During the washing process she also hosed my fave multiple time. It seemed like she was preoccupied. I loved Ty and how reasonable it is but I don't think I'll be going back there unless I'm desperate for a haircut. I was so tired by the end of it that I told her I liked what she did and left. I looked like a skunk. I ended up dying my hair with box dye after letting my hair rest for about a week and that turned out 10x better than what I left the salon with. read more

They do not perform Facials... a bit small and crowded salon, and the gentleman at the front desk didn't really know what they had to offer as he had to go back and forth to the beautician as she tried to work, I felt bad for her because she's trying to perform her services and she's unable to due to understaffing and a receptionist not knowing what services were provided. read more

My normal girl Tina was out so Cindy did my hair, and I absolutely love it. My only suggestion would be to discuss pricing with the clients prior to beginning the process that way the cost is understood. Even the first time I went I was unaware up front how much a cut cost. It did take 5 hours to do this, due to the fact they were short staffed because Tina was out. So yes they do amazing hair, however the running of the business is a different story. read more

The service was ok, I left happy but once I got home I realized the color and cut really wasn't what I requested pretty much at all. Really disappointed because the reviews are good. Another note is that if you have long hair, beware!! They used brushes on my WET, newly bleached hair brushing from top to bottom! It was so painful, it almost got to the point where I was ready to snap at the ladies yanking at my hair. I should have spoken up when the lady doing my hair was exclaiming that the hair framing my face was too short when I requested it shorter. I'm not satisfied and my bangs are stark against my bleached hair because they said they couldn't bleach it? I'm pretty disappointed. I came in here after getting recommended to Cindy by Laura S. You have to understand that I have never done anything to my hair before so after a fiasco of a digital perm from another salon, I ran as fast as I could here. As a walk-in, I asked if Cindy was here and lo-and-behold, she was the one at the front desk. She had another client who aleady had an appointment that showed up 5 minutes after I showed up, but she was super nice about it and made time to squeeze me in. Cindy took care of me and fixed me right up. She explained everything to me from start to finish. Afterwards, from coming in wanting to cry over my hair, I walked out feeling a billion times better. The other best part was that it did not cost an arm and a leg either. By the way, she does dry haicuts which I adore. Count me in as a new loyal client. You will definitely see me here again. Last week, Cindy cut my hair using a razor and scissors. I never knew what a difference a "razor" cut would make for my long thick hair. Cindy took the time to notice what would work best for my type of hair and then cut my hair to match the picture I brought with me. I'm a modest and shy person, but I feel OK saying my hair actually looked better than the picture! My appointment started on time and I was shampooed, cut, and styled in about an hour for less than $40. That's all the good news. The bad was the woman who shampooed and brushed my hair. She was super nice but she had these claws that she dug into my scalp when working the shampoo into my hair. Then instead of using a comb and working from the bottom up, she used a BRUSH on my WET hair! This is a big no no and almost a deal breaker (more like a hair breaker) for me. I realize now I should have spoken up and I regret not doing so. I hope that the boss at Ty Salon reads this review and instructs her assistants in the proper way of combing wet hair. I will return in the future and be sure to speak up if I see a brush in her hand. I encourage you to go see Cindy at Ty Salon especially if you have thick hair. I don't enjoy giving businesses 1-star rating but this business has forced me to do this. I gave them a chance to correct their mistake before writing this review. This hair salon completely ruined my hair. At first, I requested a trim to keep the shape of my current hair. Somehow, that got misinterpreted to shaving the bottom of my head while leaving the top long. Then, the stylist completely destroyed the top of my hair and it lost all volume. I told the stylist to go shorter because my long hair was completely butchered. So, I told the stylist to to give me a faux hawk and some texture. It was such a simple cut and the stylist failed to deliver again. I will let their work speak for itself. read more

I love Cindy! Congrats to her for leaving the nest (Beauty Express) and starting her own salon. This place is located near 290 and 1960. A little further than what I'm accustomed to, but definitely worth the drive. Cindy actually listens to what you want. A 2 inch trim is actually a 2 inch trim. She also gives you helpful tips on how to maintain your hair. She's a friendly lady and usually strikes up a conversation so there's not an awkward silence. Cut and color, she does it all. Definitely my go to lady whenever I need my hair done. And I'm VERY particular about my hair too. P.S. Reasonable prices compared to high end salons who aren't half as talented as her. read more

I'm writing this review as Cindy is doing my hair because I've realize I've been in a relationship with this lady for almost 15 years! She has been styling my hair over many milestones of my life- from prom, graduations, weddings, bridesmaid duties, bad-did-it-myself haircuts, etc etc. Cindy is the best- she's honest and usually advises me what to do when I come in looking for a small or drastic change. She will tell me if my hair texture/condition can handle whatever it is I'm trying to do. You see I came to Cindy back in HS after a bad perm (from another salon) that caused me to start losing a ton of hair. Thanks to her recommendations and how she cuts my hair you couldn't tell that I'm going bald back then. I use to go to Beauty Express and would wait for hours to get a haircut due to the store front overbooking her. So I was really happy that Cindy became her own boss and open Ty Salon three years ago. Although the drive is far for me, there's no one else that I trust more when it comes to my hair care needs as Cindy. Pricing is decent and affordable. Takes walk-ins and tries her best to accommodate with time. They are treated the same as appointments. She cuts fast. Shampoo and blow dry/style included. Great energy!! Con: Appointment made at 5, but didn't get seated for shampoo until 5:20 and didn't get to talk to Cindy until 5:40. By then my hair was freezing. My appointment time was definitely not honored. Like the other reviewers, I really like Cindy a lot. She has great taste in hair and knows what works for you and what doesn't. The good is that even though she's half an hour away, she doesn't overbook like it was before (when she wasn't the owner). The place is clean and contemporary, the service is excellent. The location is easy to find, but I don't mind the drive! She does really great updos and more fancy hair styles for those of you looking to get something new for a wedding or party. If you need a makeup artist and/or hair stylist for your wedding day, including your bridal party, she's your go-to girl! Ty Salon was my go to salon before my friend started doing hair. But recently I wanted to try a different salon & my hair came out to be a disaster. My friend was busy & unable to fix my hair so I called Ty salon 15 minutes before they close. I told them it was an emergency because the salon I went to messed up my hair. Cindy answered the phone & told me she'll wait for me even though they were closing. Ty Salon not only fixed my hair & did a wonderful job but they were accommodating regardless of me coming during closing time. Cindy was very sweet & polite about the situation. This is my second time coming to Ty Salon and I'm so happy I've decided to write a review. My first visit I went in with the intentions of cutting off my long locks for a short a-line long bob. I wish I could remember the name of the girl who cut my hair during that visit, because she did an excellent job. Between the shampoo (BEST scalp massage I've ever had), cut and style (all for only $25!!), it took a lot longer than I'm accustomed to from other places, but every second was worth the wait because she really made sure that every strand was perfectly in place. Fast-forward 8 months and I was really wanting to get my hair re-styled since I hadn't done anything to it since that initial haircut (I'm too low-maintenance for my own good and go way too long between cuts). After having my hair butchered at another salon while I was out of town, I knew I'd have to come in and have someone fix it for me. I thought I'd have to go a lot shorter in order to make my hair look decent, but she did such a great job of fixing the layers and my bangs, and blended the layers perfectly all while keeping the majority of the length. I'm extremely happy with the service I received during both of my visits - I'll never get my hair cut anywhere else again! read more

Setting: Seems tiny but once you step into the back for haircutting, quite a vast length. Very clean and child friendly. Hair wash: The lady who gave me the wash was very gentle and even gave a relaxing massage rather than the simple bubble and rinse. Haircut: The guy asks you for a recommendation and allows you for a picture to give the preferred haircut. I am quite satisfied with the result and was very nervous too because I was deciding on getting bangs. But, everything came out alright as the bangs did come out to be what I liked despite being different from the picture I given. I have been to Cindy at TY Salon a few times, with satisfaction. However, after my last visit, I will not be back. Cindy literally butchered my hair. It is the worst haircut I have ever had. The highlights she gave me are also pretty awful; they are uneven and "spotty." Cindy overbooks her clients and then rushes to service everyone. As a result, having an appointment really makes no difference at all. She will leave one customer mid color and/or mid cut and start working on another customer, leaving you sitting there with no explanation, no nothing; she just walks off. I find this rude and consider it poor customer service. The salon is nice and modern, but the service is otherwise lacking. Came here total 2 times in a 1.5 month time span. The first time I had a trim so it was ok. Still same price as a regular haircut but ok, 25 for a trim is not bad. Or not to the point that make Me cry after they took 2 inches of hair off me and rob me, and I had that experience before so I guess I'm used to it. The second time I came, I requested the owner lady and she did cut my hair while cutting 2 others somehow that makes me laugh. She tried to have a 'meaningless' conversation with me meaning she talks but doesn't care about the topic that we just said a second ago, since she ran back and fort with other people and answering to her husband or so I think he was, or reply to me some random facts that she present i asked, I understand, she just try to make me feel not ignored. I appreciate her trying. Although the style I request she had it way off the first time, too long, then I asked for a bit off to make it look like what I wanted so she took a lot off, I mean a lot like 3 inches. And she cut it dry which was scary.... Regardless, I think she did a good job even the length was too short. At least I got the style I want and it does not looks like I need to go somewhere else to fix it so giving the 3 stars. I will upgrade it to 4 or 5 if she could have been patient and not just cut it short to be done with it, because there will be no hair to cut anymore, still makes me laugh, I might be too generous. Some things I have noticed is that Cindy is very talented in hair cuts but not so much in dyeing, highlights, and balayage. I got my hair colored here and it was another person that did it. I started going to Ty Salon in July 2022. We had just moved to Houston and I needed cut and color badly so I went off the "great" reviews on Yelp! I was able to get in quickly and Cindy was great about listening to what I wanted. My hair tends to fade red and I wanted to add highlights and somehow go ashy. She knew exactly what to do. She and another lady worked on my hair and got me to the color I wanted. I went ahead with a moisture treatment and haircut. I was happy with how my hair looked and got out of there at $180 with tip. The next 2 visits were good but I never had the same person work on my hair. Seems like the only one that is there each time is Cindy but she stays super busy. On my 4th visit a new girl colored my roots and asked how I wanted my haircut. I agreed to long layers. I think this lady had never done this cut before because the other ladies were chattering a lot to her in another language and pointing to my hair. She pretty much butchered my hair so bad that I had to go to a different salon to fix it. I was hesitant about going back to Ty but needed highlights and lowlights again just before Christmas 2022. Cindy had 2 girls that I had never seen there work on my hair. It took them almost 2 hours to do the foils and color in-between. When we went to rinse out they were scrubbing my head so hard for another 30 minutes. I couldn't get an answer in English about what they were doing. They chattered back in forth in another language that sounded like arguing. The highlights are really uneven and super obvious how bad it is if I put my hair in a ponytail. I left the salon thinking I paid $180 with tip for highlights and lowlights only. After I looked at my credit card statement, they charged me $280 with tip. I called to verify and they explained it has always been that much. I told them I only got highlights and lowlights - no haircut or treatment. Bottom line is you will never have just one person working on your hair, you are risking getting your hair ruined and have to go somewhere else to get it fixed and the price is different every time you go! Once again, amazed by the color of my hair! Cindi is amazing at color. I have had soo many compliments and people keep requesting her information. I agree with some of the others.... the time spent in her salon, is not a quick visit, but the outcome of her cuts or color are well worth the wait.
