" Drinks for friend's birthday, tropical dream " We had a great tropical drink experience here . They cut open a coconut, pineapple or whatever fruit you choose from the drink menu . They blend up the drink and put it in the fruit , the pictures are below . Incase my explanation doesn't get your mind spinning , lol. The vibe this time around was comfortable, friendly and warm . Parking is difficult but manageable. The prices are reasonable for the area , quality and portion size .

Went late on a Sunday to grab drinks and hopefully a quick bite; the kitchen was open luckily, we got seated quickly and had to order quickly. I went for 2 sushi rolls and the mango sticky rice drink. The sushi was delicious the drink was a little harsh for my taste. Overall solid place for sushi with a full bar

I really wanted sushi and the place had good reviews and it was walkable from where I was staying plus the menu had squid. Squid is my favorite and not many places have it on the menu. Well they ran out of squid and I should have left at that point. So I order the sashimi sampler. The fish tasted ok not the best but I like to bite it in half when I eat and that wasn't possible. So not great fish. The back bay roll had avocado in it and it was so brown. At this point I didn't want to order anything else. Our waitress was very quite and gave us a dirty look when we were leaving. The place didn't have many people and some just came in for a drink and left.

Typhoon Asian Bistro is located right on Boylston Street just over a block away from the Copley Square T Station. My order was ready for pick up. Sushi Burrito $13 Big sushi roll with lettuce, avocado, gobo, kanikama, sesame seeds, tangy kabayaki sauce with your choice of protein (Shrimp Tempura!) Unagi Buns $10 two pieces, broiled eel, cucumber, oshinko, yama-gobo, kabayaki, and steamed rice buns The shrimp used in my sushi burrito were about pencil thin, so definitely not one of those shrimp cocktail sized creatures. However crab surimi filled in the role of meat in the burrito. I did however think I spotted (and tasted) a bit of wasabi tucked in the burrito. The steamed buns were filled with a colorful hodgepodge of matchstick vegetables and TWO slices of eel apiece. What more can you ask for? Though I think I prefer this style of consumption filled with a meatier choice of protein... 3.5 stars

This was a really nice and chic dinner spot. The restaurant wasn't crowded so service was prompt and great! The staff was very helpful and fast with bringing out the food. The calamari was crispy and different but very yummy. I loved the seafood bruschetta, which had crab meat. The scallops were very good and came out still on fire. The mushrooms sauteed with the scallops were very savory. It was a really cute spot to grab appetizers for a fast dinner.

I've noticed that this location has thicker udon than the original. This is a 12 out of 10, and I don't just hand those ranking out willy-nilly. I came here through winters first, which is honestly the ideal origin story. The Spicy Hot Udon in Boston winter is the equivalent of someone putting a blanket on your shoulders without being asked. The broth hits deep, the udon has that perfect chew that tells you someone back there actually cares and respect their noodles, and you leave feeling genuinely restored rather than just full. Then summer came and I almost made the mistake of skipping it entirely--because soup in summer? I mean c'mon. But silly me, I should've tried the Spicy Cold Udon sooner than later. Same exceptional broth. Same gorgeous chewy noodles. But served cold in an absolutely refreshing way. I mourned all the summers I could have been eating this. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service moves at a pace that impresses you without making you feel like you're being processed; the atmosphere is nice and simple too. Anyway: hot or cold, winter or summer, just go, get some, sip some amazing broth, bask in all of it!

The decor is bright and cheerful and the room (and restrooms) sparkling clean. The service is quick, gracious and calm. And the food is delicious! The restaurant focuses mostly on soba or udon noodle dishes with a good selection between hot and cold options. It's not going to be the best udon or soba you've ever had. HOWEVER, I tried the cold ikura & uni cold soba and LOVED it. It's seasonal, so I tried that one out and was extremely surprised about how much I enjoyed the bowl. Not too much soup and the uni didn't completely obliterate when I stirred it up. They do use American wasabi though, and I found it superfluous to the dish and wished it was served on the side. But regardless, despite not having some extremely high quality noodles, the flavor and experience of the bowl itself was super pleasant. I ended up coming back the very next day because I wanted to try their clam soba. The clam soba only comes hot, which is a bit unfortunately because I actually think a cold clam soba with some lemon or yuzu would be phenomenol. I've been seeing recipes for it online so I've been wanting to try it, but their clam soba is a lot more standard and hot. They had a very good amount of clams in it, but I generally like their cold soba better. Still good, but didn't give me that feeling of needing to come back the very next day like I did with the ikura-uni combo. Overall, I'd still come back when I'm in downtown!

It was the Asian-American community's go-to spot for dine-in, take-out, or both! This was back when they had their location in the Lesley University food court too - people would be lining up for 30+ minutes to get a coveted seat at one of their humble seats. I look fondly on when they would yell "perfect" whenever I finished my bowl, praising how I slurped every freshly cut udon noodle and devoured every ounce of broth or crispy tempura bit they put in there. The new location is just a few stores down, still in/out of the Lesley University mall area. It has a nice ambiance and feels less cramped. While I miss the "perfect" yelling, the flavor still tastes just as good even if it's gotten an insane amount of hype since then. Would highly recommend ordering takeout if you're in a rush - they do it very efficiently, both at the original Cambridge location and the new Seaport location too. I'm so happy for all of their success!
