2022 Update - from 5 start to 1. They used to be incredibly accountable, but over the last year they've taken a nose dive. I've hired them to do two more projects, one for my sick brother, one for myself. The one for myself was about a $4k project installing sonos all around my house. The bought and delivered the Sonos. One of the big sound bars was broken. They were supposed to replace. That was 6 months ago. At first he was keeping me updated and then he slowly stopped responding, then just texting and giving excuses. Now we even have issues with the work they provided being unstable connection, didn't fall best practices with the product, etc. He has $850 of mine and has no gone completely dark and will not respond or answer my texts. I would not trust this company with my money or my family. It's so sad to watch someone completely ruin their own good name and reputation like this. These guys did an amazing job, on several different levels. I have experience with electrical work, but was in a bit over my head with a project with getting wires ran. Tyson came out to check out the situation, and was great at communicating. He knew that I had an understanding of the process, so our conversation was technical and informative. He got a bid over quickly, and we talked through the entire process before scheduling. On the day the work was done, Alan and Owen were the technicians that came to do the work. Both were very well at communicating, and even better at problem solving. Just like any 30 year old house, there's always going to be stuff that comes up along the way, and they came up with some pretty great solutions. No drywall had to be cut open to run the wires, and we were left with a very clean installation, and a home theater that sounds great. I called these guys to come in and professionalize my janky ass DIY home theater installation, which originally had wires running everywhere and an off-center, off-level TV. We scheduled time for Tyson to come through and assess the situation and provide an estimate. He showed up on time and upon reviewing the situation, made pragmatic recommendations on how to proceed and later that evening sent over a quote, which I found to be perfectly reasonable. We scheduled the appointment for two days later to complete the job. When that day arrived, Allen and Owen showed up on time and first off, these are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. We recently picked up a large display for the living room, and now it's time to get it wall mounted. OK, you could just get it hung up on the wall with the cables hanging down for a couple of hundred bucks, but why not take it a step further and have a clean, hidden cable install. And if that only costs a bit more than a basic install, it's a no brainer. Based on the excellent Yelp reviews, I emailed Tyson Whiteside for an estimate, and they were able to send out their estimator the same day. The estimator was very professional, outlined all the options, and had a written proposal to us within an hour of leaving. I did some extensive research on companies in the Portland area who handle mounting of TVs/wiring inside of walls and are very happy we went with Tyson Whiteside A/V. I contacted Tyson for a quote and he came over the next day (on a Saturday) and I had the quote by email early the next week. I was having 2 large TVs mounted (1x70" and 1x55"), all wiring inside of walls to include my speakers for the living room tv. We scheduled an install date for the next week. His crew arrived (calling me before to let me know they were on the way) and completed the project in about 4 hours, which included a complex wall wiring on our living room due to stairs behind the wall. Jose, their sheet rock guy came out two days later to patch/texture/paint the wall downstairs where they needed to open the wall up for wiring. I can't even tell any work was done inside the walls. Right away they came out (an hour away from their headquarters,) to inspect the needs requested, they then responded with a great recommendation. Since then, any time I've had a question or concern with The TVs or remote questions they answer right away, whether it's a quick user error question or something else, they give great directions. Tyson and an employee came out to bid our job which entailed moving TV & all equipment to another room while a remodel was going on and then moving it back when the remodel was done. We were told that we would receive an emailed estimate that same day. After two weeks we have received nothing and we followed up with 3 voicemails and 1 email. Tyson was very professional, he came out for the initial meeting and from there the people that came were his install team. They did a good job! The only issue was the conduit on the popcorn ceiling in my apartment, they were hoping the adhesive would hold but when it heated up this summer it came detached from the ceiling. So they came out and fixed the conduit that weekend, which was very impressive. Also my partner wanted the overscan from the projector tightened up a bit and they adjusted the projector the look amazing on the TV. They also installed a 7.1 stereo system , and cleaned up all the wiring with zip ties. The installation and service was extremely impressive. I'd like to preface this by saying I was not paid by these guys to write this and don't normally feel the need to write reviews unless I feel they're truly deserved. I live in a smaller two-bedroom apartment so mounting our TV over our fireplace was pretty much the only option we had, and I'd never had a TV mounted in any of my previous living spaces so I certainly wasn't going to experiment with my brand new 55" LG. When Tyson arrived for a consultation (which was free) he went through pretty much every option possible although it was pretty straightforward what we needed. He also reassured me with his history of working on houses (renovation and what-not), his dedication to his job, and the fact that he's insured up to $1M. Hopefully he won't ever need to use it though... Cut to next week, Alan and Chris showed up almost an hour earlier than scheduled. We went through exactly what the process would be, how it would look, and asked if I wanted certain adjustments or extra space for any future additions or modifications (which I do). They're super friendly, nice and obviously great at what they do. They will make absolutely sure you're as happy with your setup as possible before taking each step. An hour and a half later there is plenty of space in my living room, and my snake pit of wires has been wrangled up very discreetly into the wall. Everything looks perfect. Chris and Scott did a great job at my home. They mounted my TV and sound bar over my fireplace. It looks terrific. They tried very hard to not cut into any drywall but ultimately they had to make a small hole in order to retrieve some wires. We had a problem when we found out that my mantle was 1/2 inch lower on one side. This made the tv look crooked. They came up with a good solution and I think it looks great!! (Not one person has noticed anything looking crooked) They also were very tidy. They left my place clean of any debris that they created during the install. We just had a home theater set up done by Tyson Whiteside and the results are perfect. Work included installing various audio components into my entertainment center. They also mounted speakers on the back wall for surround sound which involved getting into our crawl space to run the wires so that there was no penetration to the flooring. His price also included a lifetime warranty on his workmanship which includes coming back for any items that need tweaking without a charge. I've had the same service done in other cities for less money than Tyson charged. But I've never had workmanship and attention to detail like this. read more
