Worked out great. The workers here come and go so it's just getting lucky to have someone help out who knows what they are doing. Years ago they were terrible at this location. But just last week they were great. We did the self reserve truck twice and it was easy. At one point we had no moving blankets in the truck and the staff were on top of it to get us some. It was my first time renting out a truck at U-Haul. I honestly didn't expect much since the reviews were low but it was the only moving rental company that was conveniently located. I made a online reservation for a 26" truck. It was fairly straightforward to book but the reservation times were limited and inaccurate. It also didn't make sense that they charge 3x more to drop off the truck at a different U-Haul location. It's not cheap either. They charge like $1.19/mile so it can quickly add up. I went in on a Saturday which they said is typically busy but I didn't have to wait long to get checked in. Everything was ready. Nothing exceptional about the service though. Here comes all the complaints... First, when we got to our truck, the back loading door was slightly open and apparently a homeless person was sleeping there. There were trash and cigarette butts in there. The cleanliness of the space was very questionable. I didn't feel comfortable putting my items inside but didn't have no choice. When we turned on the truck, the check fuel cap light went on. The tank came less than 1/4 full. During the entire time during the drive, the car's steering wheel was out of alignment and kept on shifting. When I called the customer service about it, they just said it shouldn't be a problem and that I can call the u-haul emergency service if the truck decides to break down. That didn't give me any reassurance at all as the driving didn't feel safe. Luckily nothing ended up happening. Overall, had a poor experience with this U-Haul location. read more

Recently picked up a truck for a quick move a few heavy stuffs. Book in advance- that's important. My pick up time was at 9am, right when they open. The truck was ready. Easy paperwork and I was out in less than 10 mins. They charge $0.99 per mile on top of the rent. The service was just great. Very friendly staffs. They will explain the policies, process and what to be done while returning. Just one sign - that's all you need; rest is online. Quite a great experience. Recommended this place. read more

We booked to pickup a 26' truck at this location and a mth ago for this location, then they call me two days before our move that someone hasn't returned the truck and they haven't been able to get a hold of them so they are sending us to pickup elsewhere 40 minutes away and that location doesn't open until 9am and we have movers coming at 9:30. Lady said she'll call me if the truck comes back. I call the next day to see if it was returned and another person tells me they haven't had a truck for mths. I asked why they didn't just drive it to the location which was on our confirmation and she said no. And no discount for inconvenience either. Worst location and service. Blatantly lying about truck not being returned yet. We should've just hired a trucking company. read more

This place is the absolute worst. Incompetent, rude and totally untrustworthy. I suggest you take your business elsewhere as they clearly don't value your business. I had an appointment for hitch installation with them. The website allowed me to schedule an appointment on Friday middle of the day. I took the day off for it. The installation guy called me few days before and told me he is off and wanted to reschedule. He moved the appointment to Saturday and told me it's first come first serve. Closer to my appointment I called the store to confirm the appointment and they said they will see me Saturday morning. I go in early morning Saturday, drove for 20 mins to get there and they tell me the hitch installation guy is off all week and they don't even have the parts for me. Why they didn't bother telling me when I called or why they didn't call and rescheduled my appointment is beyond me. There was zero accountability on their part and no regret for the hassle they caused me. I won't do business with these morons anymore. read more

Saw all the negative reviews and was concerned before renting at this location, however this was the only location I could get a 17 foot truck when I needed it. When I arrived I witnessed the employee patiently helping someone that didn't speak English through a translator on the customer's phone. From what I have seen they are very professional, patient, and kind. Also they were able to get me a 20 foot truck which is what I really wanted. The return of the truck process was also really smooth the next day. In all I had a great experience here. read more

William is the man. He was the reason my whole experience was great. Kind, funny, professional, quick, overall a good lad. I've been to this location before and have had terrible experiences. Today was the best experience I've ever had with U-Haul, because of William. Right away he greeted me told me he would be with me in just a minute as he was helping another customer. I originally reserved a tow dolly and asked if there was any full car trailers available instead. This wasn't the reason for the 5 stars, it was just luck they had one available. Like come on it's U-Haul, lol. William, was the reason for 5 stars. Invest in your people! After doing all the computer work and checking me in, he had me follow him outside to the trailer. I saw him act like a jerk to literally every customer, including myself, that he came in contact with while I was in the store. A guy with a language barrier was saying he could only bring in his car for a hitch installation on the 14th and the guy says, "For the rest of your life, the only time you have is the 14th?" What was funny was he was being a jerk for no reason because the guy didn't even pick up the sarcasm. He told me to hit "yes" for the extra coverage and when I declined he said, "Well let's hope nothing happens because you'll be paying cash for damages, we don't deal with insurance companies." I scheduled my two U-boxes being delivered to me on June 23, scheduled u- boxes pick up on June 30, and planned leaving date on July 1st. The boxes were first delayed to June 26. But they did not come on June 26 either, and the representative promised the boxes will come on June 27, and they will waiver the first month box rental fee to make up the delay. But the boxes did not arrive again on June 27, this time the manager gave the option to offer free moving help or $250 credit to make up the delay. Then for the next three days from June 28 to 30, neither the moving help nor the boxes came. Finally only one box arrived on July 1st, which is one week later and my planned leaving data. During the whole week, the staff keep telling and promising the boxes will arrive the next day but never happened. Even one week later, the box finally arrived, but only one box was delivered while I reserved two boxes. This is a disaster. Worst experience ever. My whole life was ruined for the whole week and the week following due to this delay. I have to cancel tons of appointments, forfeit multiple reservations, and heir junk remover to dump the rest of stuff that not able to fit in the one box because I can not wait any longer for the other box. And I did not see any of these credits they promised to make up the delay reflecting on the charge. read more

I made a reservation for a trailer to help a friend pick up some stuff down in Tacoma. Showed up on time for my reservation, from the start it seemed the guy hated his job or customers. Not sure he was having a bad day, but if I had the time I would of given him a piece of my mind. I walked up to the counter and there was no one around. The counters are side by side and he comes out and parks at the counter next to me. All he says is "here". I was at the counter, but I guess I wasn't on the side he wanted me on because he repeated in a louder rude voice "over here...". Right! Next we go out and I backup and maneuver my suv to the hitch. I have a backup camera with assist and can see him. I was off by a bit and I see him upset and wording a few things. Attitude through the whole experience. I get it, we have bad days, but the day had just started. Did I get the trailer I needed and did it do what I wanted? Yes, was service good? No. Service all around was bad! These guys have been here forever, and you should keep that in mind when you rent from them. You don't have to enjoy every minute you spend involved with a truck rental, but there's a reason why these things go the way they go. They keep their costs as low as they can, and in turn you don't pay a ridiculous amount. These guys deliver on everything they promise, without making any special effort to surpass that. That's perfectly OK. What you get is a sturdy little building of indeterminate age next to a busy 6-lane road. It's not the cleanest, not the dirtiest. There are shelves full of boxes and tape and whatnot scattered around. You usually come in from the back, since that's where the parking is for you, and for most of their trucks. Curiously, there is ALWAYS a line here. Always. Even when you walk in and think no one at all is in the room, by the time you get to the counter, you see that someone is ahead of you. Service here is slow. I got stuck behind someone Saturday who couldn't remember their phone number OR their home address, or that they had a land line phone. They had to look all these things up. Moving is stressful. It takes a lot outta ya. I get it. But this took the cake. Bottom line, there's almost always somebody here who is in the middle of a tiring or crappy day. So be sympathetic if you can. They do a good job of automating the receipts to your email, and you can even reserve trucks online now. That's cool! Their trucks come with little gar mileage gauges that show how close you are to operating the engine at peak efficiency. Floor it on a hill, you get no bars. Coast down the other side of the hill, you get five bars. That's about it for innovation around here. You get sturdy new trucks in good tune, kept clean. You have A/C. You have vinyl upholstery, so on hot days you stick to the seat. You can buy all the rope and other stuff you need, and rent blankets for padding. They ask you for a mileage estimate before you check out, and add 79 cents per mile to the hold they put on your credit card. Other than that, not much to tell, other than the fact that their bathroom is small, kinda gnarly, and that sink actually makes your hands feel dirtier when you wash 'em. But I've been using these guys as needed for years, and will keep coming back. read more

I rented a 20ft on Thursday 5/15/14 @ 4:00PM, for 3 days @ $39.95/day + $.79/mile. I returned it at 3PM Sunday as planned. The truck was a new Ford and it ran beautifully, zero issues! We moved 2 full loads of home furnishings. We only drove 52 miles in that period, they credited me for the over-estimate on mileage. As I left they chased me out to the lot and gave me my GPS and garage-door remote which I had forgotten in the truck. Lee Keith was the counterman that handled everything, he was very professional, pointed out all the costs and risks and advised me of my options. What can I say...they did everything they promised and I did everything I promised. I just love it when things go exactly like they're supposed to. This rental cost a total of $170 and it was worth every penny! Tip: if you have to make several short trips with full loads, pay the low daily rate and keep the truck for longer, even if it sits for a day between loads, it's worth it. We reserved a cargo van for 1pm. When we got there no one was in the store we waited for 20 min into our reservation. The guy working didn't even acknowledge that. We only reserved it for two hours. Then when we dropped it off the guy takes the keys and moves then van and says he will email the receipt, so we are done and leave. About an hour later I get a phone call saying that we are late returning, I told the guy no we dropped off the van an hour ago and he literally hung up on me. Worst customer service ever. Insanely poor customer service and communication. I reserved and paid for a trailer hitch installation scheduled for mid July. The day of the installation, I received a call letting me know that they did not yet have the hitch and asked me to reschedule to late July. I let them know I'd need to call them back. Over the next couple of weeks, I tried calling, emailing, on-line chatting numerous times so I could reschedule and verify the part installation, but could not get a hold of anyone at the location. I checked online and they had automatically rescheduled me to July 27th. Lo and behold they called me on July 27th to tell me that they still didn't have the part, so I ended up cancelling the reservation entirely. I can understand issues with parts availability, but what is really disappointing is the absolute lack of communication. I made SEVERAL attempts to try to reach out to them to confirm, but was only notified of delays day of. It was critical that I had the hitch installed in July, but due to the lack of communication from this site, I was left with no time to pursue other options that were previously available. read more

AA5 star movers need to change their name I went online and ordered a truck and trailer for Lynwood store pick up. to move equipment from storage to my business. I realize this is not the stores mistake but they don't give any other way to review the business online. I also added two movers for four hours of help accounting for two hours of travel time (one hour each way). AA5 star movers I got a call the day before the move, from Shawn. asking what time I wanted them. I got a call later in the day, also from Shawn, saying they wanted to add an hour labor to make up for the cost of gas for the drive. I told them fine no problem. I got a text from Shawn at 8:30pm tonight from the mover telling me he didn't want to do the job because he didn't want to drive that far. I was scheduled to have them there to help at 9:30am tomorrow morning. I had to cancel my move entirely because I couldn't get new movers to help at the last minute No idea what I'm going to do now! Last several visits have been much better. Super fast checking out of the trucks. BUT, make sure you check the cleanliness of the truck bed before leaving. Well this morning we go in to pick up our truck and they say they don't have any. Mind you I can see 20+ trucks. They tell us they rented us a 10 ft truck FROM THE CITY WE ARE MOVING TO. So now we have to DRIVE TO THE CITY we are moving to to go get the truck that is SMALLER then we need, so now we will have to do more trips and pay twice the miles because we have to drive an empty ass truck one way to being with. I went in person to reserve a truck at the location at 19130 SR-99, Lynnwood, WA 98036, on Thursday April 14, early in the afternoon in order to guarantee a reservation for an appointment with a narrow window on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00. I emphasized my only requirements were a smaller vehicle and a guarantee of availability. We decided on the vehicle (10 ft box type) and a pickup time of 11:00, I was clear that I would pick it up at any time that was most convenient to him but he said on Saturday it didn't matter because they were busy all day. When I arrived at 11:00 I was told they had no record of my phone number or name! When they asked if I had received a reservation number I replied I was told I just needed to arrive with my DL and credit card ( shame on me, never again!) and asked me to describe him but I couldn't. The only good thing was the guy helping me today was patient, courteous and understanding. Otherwise I probably would have gone off on him. He suggested I contact 1 800 U-HAUL. I thought that was a fool's errand but the young man who answered was also patient, courteous and understanding and to my utter amazement was able to quickly locate another truck (a van) at a nearby neighborhood dealer I wasn't even aware of! There too was a kind and patient man who quickly got me in the van there. Now granted, this was a pretty great ending, but believe me if I could definitely ID the a****** who screwed me over I would make it my life's mission to exact revenge! That guy was either TOTALLY inept or just plain mean! I am VERY unhappy about that! National customer service for U-Haul called this location to arrange for us to pick up 5 bags of moving blankets as a one-way rental for our move to GA from WA. Apparently, although U-Haul nationally does allow for rental of moving blankets, local (Seattle area) stores do not. They are only given out if one rents a truck, etc. When the national customer service person spoke with the "District Manager" to make the reservation she was told that they wouldn't rent the 5 bags of blankets to my family because, "they aren't supposed to do that." However, I was able to rent a number of the blankets from the Everett store when I presented my reservation paperwork to the girl the other night. She chose to honor the national policy over the local store policy. Smart girl. I am a retired corporate manager so have some experience with the disconnect between national policies and those of local retail stores. It does not benefit the company or customers not to be consistent. When we made our reservations, we were treated with a national policy but then when we arrived at the store, we experienced inflexibility on a local level. U-Haul needs to improve their business approach, or else their reputation and service record will continue to be extremely poor. read more

I Dealt with this Uhaul on two occasions. My first interaction was INCREDIBLY unpleasant as the they were Quite understaffed, causing more than 8 people to wait for more than 45 minutes and the "customer service" representative whom I worked with was terribly rude and short. He did not provide any details on the transaction and when asked clarifying questions such as "where will my shipment be delivered," he became frustrated and attempted to speak down to me. It appears he forgot who the customer and customer service agent was. The second time, I pulled in to return some equipment and the sign stated to wait in vehicle while I received assistance. After 25 min of sitting in the vehicle, without even being acknowledged, I went inside for assistance. Still only two staff members to the 10 people waiting in line. The Uhaul off hwy 99 and Multilteo speedway is certainly the superior of the two location. Unless you want long lines, terrible customer service and rude/un attentive staff. read more

Fraudulent tactics by the owner. They will try to make you pay for insurance even if you show them you already have insurance. They will make you prove you have insurance an then tell you its not valid, and charge you for insurance. Here is the catch: If something happens to the rental, they will not go after your insurance, they will charge directly your credit card for the damages, therefore why do you need proof of insurance? Also in U-haul's website it clearly states that you don't have to buy insurance if you don't want, nor you need to prove you have insurance. I showed this to the arrogant owner and he blamed it on the area manager, so I had to call the area manager and ask him if this was the case. The area manager told me that, no it was not his decision, it was solely the decision of the owner. I had to also discuss the fraudulent tactic with the area manager to make them take the insurance charge that the fraudulently inserted. I had to threaten the area manager with legal action for the fraudulent tactics they practice. Also apart from the owner, who is a condescending guy, I was screamed at by an employee for incorrectly parking the truck in their premises when I was returning it. He even threatened to call the cops on me for parking the truck in the parking lot and taking the keys with me until they opened the store at 8am (I arrived at 7.30am). Good start by getting a good welcoming only to be told they couldn't help me because he had already closed down every system. I understand if it was 10 minutes from closing, but we came in 30 minutes from closing no less than 20! It's ridiculous the employee here couldn't just do his job and helped us out. If your sole purpose of going here is to buy propane, don't waste your time go to texaco a few doors south. You'll be in and out fast. Waited at U- Haul for over ten minutes. One clerk was clueless on how to make a reservation and had to restart the process. The other clerk who was cocky beyond belief finished with the customer he was helping the started to help the customer behind me. That customer said I was first. Clerk said I'll be right out. Went out to my car waited another few minutes, looked in the window he was helping the customer behind me. I let out an audible WTF which customers #3&4 heard inside and left. I luckily saw that Texaco had propane and was in and out in less than five minutes. Sure it was a little more expensive but how much is you time worth?
