Do not take the word of anyone at this store. I went in to buy new blinker set up and harness for my trailer before trip to California to a bike show. They told me that the wireless set up works a lot better with magnets to go on the side of the trailer. I asked him if it doesn't work for the trip if they would refund my money. The guy said yes. Along the trip on Highway 40 the lights fell off one wire got wrapped around the trailer so that kept that light. The other one is sitting somewhere on Highway 40. I had to drive all the way to Bakersfield at night with no trailer lights to have a trailer company replace the lights I was gonna replace before I left. I came back and they said they would not refund my money for this piece of crap system that they sold me when I was going buy the right one in the first place. read more

Ok I don't go here often only once in every five to ten years. But the staff here are always great and helpful. The place is well organized so easy to get what you need. They're prices for boxes and other packaging supplies are very competitive and good quality. The trailer mechanical and electrical adapters are excellent quality and again competitive prices. Absolutely awful ! My wife and I reserved a truck and trailer 6 weeks in advance for a vacation trip to Utah. I went to the lot the day before my rental to measure the trailer to ensure that it would be large enough to haul our jeep. I found that it was a good fit and was to return then next day at 4 pm for my pickup. ONE HOUR before the pickup they called and said that they do not have a trailer for us rent ! I told them I was there in their lot the morning before and measured 2 of them and they told me that they went out and and that my 6 weeks in advance reservation did not mean anything since there are some people that reserve a year and a half in advance. ?!? What is THAT all about and what is the point of reservations at all ? We had a dog sitter, hotel reservations, the whole bit , AND just like that .... I'm screwed. Absolutely the lowest of the low. Pity there is not a negative review available as this place certainly deserves one ! read more

Went to the Prescott location to buy some double wall heavy duty boxes. Walked around the store twice and no one offered assistance. I went up to the counter where a young man was not waiting on anyone and asked if they had any of the heavy duty boxes. He said no, asked a coworker who confirmed no. I asked what should I do, call around to other stores and he said yes. He never mentioned that I could go online and have it sent to a store. I bought a new car with a hitch too small for my bike rake/carrier. So I brought my car here to U-Haul in Prescott, AZ, and Steven was the one to help me order the right part, and then when it came in, he installed it himself. Steve Let me know all about the warrantee. He set up my appointment when the part came in, And He was real professional, courteous and friendly...and had a great sense of humor which gave me a chuckle. The install was faster than I expected. I had bought an adapter for the hitch; to make it bigger, but it had way too much give and rattling and jumping. So I imagine that would wear a whole lot faster. What a totally unprofessional operation. I talked to Wilson, the hitch specialist, on a Wed. He told me to come by Friday @ 12:45 and he would look at the tow bar on my recently deceased husband's car and tell me if it could be removed. When I arrived at the appointed time, I was told he was working on a car and I could wait 2 hours until he was finished. He couldn't even stop for literally 3 minutes to come look at my car - despite the fact that I came at the exact time he told me to. The guy working at the front desk was a total waste of time & no help. read more

Horrible experience. Staff was not very helpful, had to drive to another location to get a truck & 5 minutes on the road, the truck was acting up and never felt safe. The cruise control didn't work half the time and the check engine came on a mile into our trip-only response from Uhaul was to call roadside service so we just kept going and crossed our fingers... It's not this store it's uhaul in general. I am not sure what is going on in the company but when a long time customer who has rented well in the 5 figures in the past 6 months. Plus retuned everything without a scratch and all paid for. When I rented the smallest covered trailer they rent for a haul to PV with my jeep. I extended it until the 10th then it was expected back on the 14th and the 15th the police show up to tell me if it's not back on the lot tonight I'll be arrested for theft and it was siting in the driveway with texts I and my wife had had with the return location. Only the day before and was told ok no problem dear. Your all set. Thanks you and see you tomorrow the manager had not flagged it with uhaul or with corporate or even with us own crew as no one could even see that it was even in trouble. Very very upsetting. No warning no nothing until 1 day over last due date. I get a visit from Police and told I will be dragged out at gun point as it will be listed as a stollen vehicle. That's how people die and seeing we had been keeping in contact to risk that when it was clear we were just late bringing it back. Really really bad news from the Prescott location. I have never been treated by any other uhaul like that in my life. read more

I have been to this location twice with good experiences both times, especially with the technicians. First, we bought and had installed a hitch. I thought we needed a wiring kit so paid for both that and the hitch on line. When I went for my appointment, the technician came out to get me within 5 minutes so he could "show me something," which I thought was ominous; however he just wanted to show me that we were already pre wired. He then went into the main waiting area and processed the refund himself, stating that this would be faster then me having to wait for someone to be free. What great service. A week later we rented a trailer and once again the technician was great, he hooked everything up and unhooked it when we came back. Only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is one of the latches on the loading door to the trailer didn't latch, though the second latch held our load just fine. Also the staff at the service desk are not the friendliest. read more

This u haul has been amazing to our belongings for the past two years. It has been very easy to make our monthly payments and the staff is always super friendly. They keep there facility very clean and offer climate controlled units. They have huge vaults to store your belongings in. We hired professionals to pack our units with furniture. They we're recommend to us from u haul and I will never move again without them. That was the biggest life saver! This facility has plenty of room for large box trucks. They have double doors that open automatically. They have good security,with key pad access. If your looking to store your furniture long or short term I would highly recommend checking out this establishment. You won't be disappointed! read more

We had a couple of heavy items we didn't want to do ourselves and we asked about "lumpers" for hire. We were provided a couple of contacts and everything worked out great! I'm getting late notices on uboxes that I have returned and no one seems to be able to fix it. 4 different people have assured me it's been corrected and I continue to get notices. Made an appointment for Wednesday to have hitch and wiring installed. They called on Tuesday and said parts were in but now my appointment magically was moved to Easter Sunday. I had arranged for a ride for Wednesday, but oh well. Went Sunday and all they could install was the hitch because the wrong part for the wiring was ordered. The hitch was installed but they forgot to completely put my exhaust pipe back together. And after hearing a clunk in the rear of my car I took it in to my auto repair guy and he found a bolt, nut and washer that was in where the hitch was installed. Yep, they only installed five of the six required bolts. That is scary. It may be ok to rent a truck there or even rent a storage unit but I know one thing for sure. Never let these people work on your vehicle. read more

We had U-Haul install a trailer hitch on our CRV. I checked YouTube and was going to do it myself but decided to have them do the install. I will never go back there. They left screws out of the fender which should not have been touched. There is a plastic cover which should have had a small portion cut out to fit the hitch, but instead they removed it a threw it away. The muffler needed to be unattached from two rubber holders which they did and never re-attached the muffler. When my wife returned home the muffler was hanging down and making a rattling noise. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would. They have been the most stressful part of our move, hands down. My husband and I had a quote in their system for a one-way tow-behind trailer. A week before our planned move, they called us to make a reservation for the trailer so they would--and I'm quoting the phone call directly--"be sure to have the trailer available" the day of our move. We were charged $100 for the reservation. TWO DAYS before our scheduled pick up day they called us back saying they actually didn't have the trailer there, so whoops, sorry about it. After a 30 minute phone call in which it became clear to my husband and I that this company does not care about customer service whatsoever, we were told we would have to drive 50 miles out of our way to pick up the trailer in ASHFORK, as they couldn't be bothered to fetch it for us to fix THEIR OWN MISTAKE. Bottom line, use uhaul if you want to be overcharged for inconvenience and stress. I will never use this store again. read more

I'm getting ready to move and was getting frustrated trying to figure out how I'm going to get my stuff from here to California, I don't have enough stuff to rent a big truck, but too much to fit in my car...my car isn't suited for towing and wasn't sure what my options were. Scott found me the right size truck with a tow dolly for my car and made sure it all fit into my budget. He was super friendly and understanding, i couldn't have asked for better service!!! VERY BAD TRUCKS and SERVICE- I rented a 15' truck on line and within two miles the check engine light came on in addition to the fact there was 1/4 fuel. But the frosting was they were so rude and slow. This was my fault because I had said 20 years ago after having the uhaul car trailer brakes catch fire and nearly burn my Toyota 4Runner, then the same truck broke down a few miles further in NM, which caused antifreeze to run in the cab all over my wonderful dog. I had to rent a motel and wash and stuff off of him and wait 2 days for the truck to be repaired. Nothing had changed in 20 years and this is a dangerous nasty company. Go to Penske or Budget!!!! The company will send you a request for condition of the truck they just rented you so DO NOT fill it out as they will use it against you if something happens during the trip and it will!! read more

Really bad service. I ordered online for pick up. When I went to the store no one was wearing a mask behind the counter. No curb side pick up. I asked why no one was wearing a mask and I wanted to wait outside. I muttered dumb sh$T to myself not to anyone but I was overheard. I am a very non confrontational type person. Called to see if they offered any trucks with liftgates. Spoke to a clueless woman on the phone which began giving me trailer sizes. I politely let her finish and then repeated myself stating I did not need a trailer, I needed a truck with a liftgate. I was promptly hung up on and not called back. I just want to express my gratitude to Scott and KJ for their help with my move from this U-Haul self storage to Las Vegas. They both gave exceptional customer service as well as a great deal. Despite having had a storage unit there for over (7) years at one point, and having filled propane tanks there.... being told "Be right with you" after several staff saw me at the propane station, and I rang the bell as required; doesn't mean standing there for 20+ minutes without a follow-up "hey, we haven't forgotten about you.....we're slammed." But, no. I called after I drove away to inquire if they were even filling propane today, the employee said yes, but that they were busy and it would probably take a half-hour. Had I known that, I would have either (a) kept on going and driven away to another place or (b) waited another five minutes... read more

Over charged my credit card for 2 months in a row. Spent hours on the phone talking to several people. Went in person and they told me they didn't know how to fix the billing and just pay what I didn't owe. Said they would leave a note for manager never called back. Left several messages for him. Customer service is a joke. They NEVER followed through with any mistakes. I would pay my bill in full and get an email the next day saying it was late. read more

The way it is set up is ridiculous. The turn off to enter is confusing and it gets worse from there... One way to go in and loops to go out, BUT parking requires a person to head into the one way exit traffic... Just a stupid set up. Then the front door is pretty far and I am handicapped. Waited at the counter with the guy right in front of me on the computer, talking to the guy next to him and no one greeted me at all. read more

This is the worst storage area I have ever used and the worst uhaul office I have ever worked with. If you have any other option I strongly encourage you to stay away from this location. The staff, in general, couldn't be more lazy or disinterested in providing service or working together as a team. I have stood in line while one guy is helping the customer and three other guys are shooting the s##t with him. No one stepped up to the counter to help us they just "hung out" while we waited for long periods of time. On several occasions I have seen one guy ask co-workers to help him and they just stand there and watch. The service is terrible and it is clear they just don't care. When I got my security card to swipe for entry and to disable the alarm it didn't work so every time I went to my storage and opened the door the alarm would go off. I had to go up to the slow service desk to ask several times for my card to be fixed before someone finally fixed it. The entire complex is on the side of a hill so there are hardly any flat surfaces. This is harrowing during rain, snow, or with heavy load. Additionally, when it snowed the snow was not plowed or shoveled at the loading area or up the hill to get out. It was dangerous and treacherous this winter with sheets of ice 1-3" thick and it will be there a long time because it is almost always shady in that area. The complex is a set of buildings in a rectangle with garage sized storage along the inside perimeter and the building on the front which has the smaller storage units. All are accessed via the middle. Down the middle of this center they park U-Pack containers, trailers, and trucks making navigation to and from storage and loading dock very difficult due to lack of space. If you have a large pick-up truck, a truck and trailer, or a moving truck that you need to back into one of these garage sized storage units or the loading dock for the smaller units you will find it very difficult to do. Even entering and exiting is difficult as you can only enter as a right hand turn and exit only to the right so lots of u-turns are required for access. Between the lousy service and terrible conditions every trip to this complex is extremely agitating. I encourage you to find better service and conditions elsewhere and save yourself a lot of agitation, save yourself from unsafe conditions, and save yourself from auto damage. read more

BEWARE of chaos's, horrible customer service & a manager who does not have a handle on her store. We had used this facility several times since 2010 for different services with good customer service & competent staff. That, however seems to have changed dramatically. Last September, rented a van for 1 day & service was very unorganized, but it happens. Two weeks ago we ordered & scheduled a hitch installation online & prepaid. It specifically says at the bottom that a U Haul representative from the location will call to schedule a time on the day you requested. Well that never happened. When I called to question why I was never contacted, first I got, "I don't have any paperwork regarding that", than "Oh, I see we tried several times to get ahold of someone & no one ever answered", when I replied there was no way that happened, the story changed to "oh, yes it looks like we talked to someone & that wasn't convenient". REALLY??? None of that was true & I was furious! After more run around, got a date & time scheduled. Mind you, this was all in one call. Brought our vehicle in & left it for installation. Returned to pick it up & in all fairness the installation crew did a GREAT JOB on the hitch. When picking the completed vehicle up, I was told I owed the amount that I had prepaid. I stated " it is paid", the rep said "no it's not" & I said "yes it is" & again he said "no it's not" so I shoved the paid online receipt at him. He than said, "oh I guess it is". We had purchased a trailer in Phoenix, which we had to go down & pay for with no vehicle to pull it back with. Had the our vehicle been done on the date I originally requested it would have not been a problem. At the time of pickup we told the rep that the new wiring plug on the hitch was not a match to the trailer plug. Showed a picture of the trailer plug & was sold an adapter that would work. Drove down to Phoenix again thinking there would not be a problem. Of course, arrived & was incorrect. Drove back without proper lighting between vehicle & trailer. Returned the incorrect adaptor to U-Haul the next day. We live a distance from this U Haul so, NOT HAPPY! We decided that we just needed to bring the vehicle back in & have U Haul do the rewiring for the correct plug. We are not that knowledgeable & don't have the time to do anymore running around. I called U Haul once again & talked to a rep. I stated what we needed & that I wanted to set up an appointment for Monday because we had our first camping trip coming up this weekend. I was told "oh, you don't need an appointment for that. Just bring it in, no problem". My husband took off work early yesterday, & it is out of his way to go to this location. He arrived & was told "we are too busy to help you, this is the adaptor you should need, but it probably will need to be hard wired because of this wire & that wire, blah, blah, blah". "You can make an appointment if you want". REALLY??? Normally I am a patient person who does not complain, but this is ridiculous. As my husband was driving home, I called U Haul & got a lady who wasn't even at that location, just answering their phones. She patiently listened & told me that the representative should not have told me to "just come in", she was emailing the manager who was already gone for the day & the manager would call me at 9:00am this morning. Well it is noon & no phone call, surprise, surprise!!! Who knew it was so difficult??? There is no way I will ever return to this U Haul. If you are just renting from U Haul, there are plenty of other U Haul facilities in the area. You don't have to tell me again, you don't care about your customers!!! read more

After spending over $300.00 to have a hitch installed, electrical, and a drop down, I realized that I needed a 1 7/8 ball instead of the 2" that they gave me..... I was refused an exchange and was told I would have to buy the 1 7/8" ball. Watch out! This place and its management is a racket. read more

Super great people! We are moving to TX next month and originally wanted to get a trailer a couple weeks ahead of time, but didn't realize that the rental period was a max of five days.
