Raising my rating from 3 to 4. This is the second time in a year I've rented a truck from thus U-Haul location. Today, I did not have a reservation but was able to get a van on short notice to move a large screen TV that just came on sale and we bought. The staff had a vehicle that was clean, operated well and the size to do the job. Although this was a couple hour job, the price was right and filled a niche, for me, in a vehicle suited for such a small job as mine. One watch out - and this is no rub on this location but of all vehicle rental businesses - they advertise $19.95 a day then in small print "plus additional fees". Those "additional fees" are largely taxes and fees added by the friggin government. My bill came to almost double the 20 bucks. I brought my new car to this location on June 8, 2026 for a trailer hitch and wiring installation. The experience was a disaster from start to finish. The installation took over five hours. When I finally picked up my car, warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. The installer told me he had accidentally disconnected a parking sensor during the job. A week later, when my niece sat in the rear seat for the first time, I discovered the interior trim had been reinstalled incorrectly, pinching the rear seatbelt so it cannot retract. This is a serious safety hazard. I also found one trim clip badly mangled, consistent with someone using the wrong tool, and a second clip missing entirely on the other side. I now have to take my brand new car to an authorized Toyota dealership for a full inspection before I can even trust that the hitch is safe to use. When I tried to contact U-Haul corporate to file a formal complaint, both of their published email addresses bounced back as undeliverable. If you value your vehicle, I would strongly recommend finding a professional installer elsewhere. read more

We bought a new small trailer and had issues with the hitch; it dragged the ground on every small bump. An hour trip on I-5 was not going to be safe. Despite the later hour and a busy schedule, James fit us in and worked with us to set up the hitch so that it was safe and workable. He gave us his time willingly and ably. I pulled out my cell phone in the waiting area to play Angry Birds and a short round woman yelled at me from reception that I'm not allowed to film inside the store. I told her I wasn't filming and she just screamed over me. No words, just screaming at the top of her lungs for 10 seconds. It was insane. I'm laughing about it now but at the time I was shaking from adrenaline, confused and angry. I just left and went to another location but had to post about it here. These folks are great. Went in on Monday to see if they could put a tow package on my new Honda CRV. They were able to schedule me for the following Friday and it was in the shop for two hours. Good quality workmanship and the price was very reasonable. These people were very helpful too in explaining to me the options and what the cost would be. I've use these folks to install trailer hitches before and I definitely would recommend them. read more

I've rented from this location three times and it's always a good experience. Sometimes they run a little low on the smaller trucks or vans so it's good to reserve them online before hand so you can make sure that the vehicle you're needing is available. I know there are a lot of not positive reviews regarding the reservation system but I've never had an issue and always rent from this location. They also have moving boxes and everything you may need for moving and storage just like most of the U-Haul locations. I really like the vans that they have because they really have a lot to get up and go under the engine. It beats renting the box trucks which sometimes are hard to handle and maneuver if you're not used to driving a big truck. The pick up and drop off was really easy and quick. Whether you need to haul something a long distance or just do use during the day this is one of the good locations in Lacey. Only down side is there isn't a lot of places to park your car on location if you're just renting a van or truck. read more

Beware, tow dolly I just rented had seriously frayed straps! I was not shown how to use the equipment so I didn't see it at first. When my son asked why they hadn't checked the equipment first, he was told they depend on the customers to let them know when the equipment is messed up. Unbelievable and quite a liability risk! We tried to get a discount since our 2 hour job turned into 6 hours and we had to purchase a ratchet strap to supplement the POS tow dolly, but her argument for not giving a discount was "well you got the job done, right! I suggest you choose a different equipment rental outfit. read more

In the last two weeks the wife and I have hired trucks from here for around seven days. The team were always kind and courteous despite our many questions, they gave good advice, and when an idiot customer locked the keys in the truck we were to use they gave us a free upgrade. These guys are great! I parked my car here for about 10 days as I rented a UHaul truck to drive to San Diego, where my daughter just moved. When I got back to pick up my car, they remembered me and asked about the trip, which is a really nice feeling. They really care. And they washed my car while I was gone! Excellent customer service. So I just came here to get some propane, the usual place I go to was out of power this day, and I needed to fill 5 5 gal tanks, but decided in a pinch I could get one tank filled and pay a little extra, I live just down the street from this place. They have a little canopy over the propane filler tank and it sits at the end of the parking lot away from the store front. They have all kinds of signs to just push the ringer button to get service, so I'm looking all over the canopy for this f###$ing ringer button. Well I give up and am just about to start walking to get someone, out comes out this rather slow individual, and doesnt really say anything as he is walking up, finally I say hi, which really should of been him that said some kind of greeting, but well you have probably seen some of the other reviews. So I say I was looking for the ring button all over the place, he kind of grunts and says some one tore off the button, (probably over joy from there great and friendly customer service), no sorry or anything, I had visions of them laughing from behind the desk in the store front, they are quit capable of this. So he takes the tank and started hooking it up, I ask him how much the propane is, $3.45 a gallon, I must of gasped, because he asked me if I wanted it filled, and I said well I guesse rhat is why I brought it. He said well some people just get a few gallons, that stopped me and I thought that was a good idea, so I only got 3 gallons which came to more than of I had regularly filled the tank. They are sharks and scuzzy, they prey on that u need it now. I took the rest of my propane tanks today to my regular place and saved 25 dollars, it is a $1.45 less a gallon. Dont go to these people unless u are truly desparate. So I rented a truck once from these yahoo,s and I would agree with other comments that these people are the slowest and worst service possible I can literally watch mold grow, I would have been better off going out to hawks prairie and would have saved time. I live close to this god aweful place, stay away, stay far away from these jerks. read more

We have rented here several times but it keeps getting worse! Every time you come back you restart the entire process over again which takes way to long. Have had issues with wiring on equipment and dealt with rude staff. Definitely needs to update system and better service. read more

We are a local veterans group that was successful in collecting over 500 sport balls from the Olympia community on November 11, 2017; these balls will be given out to military families that have financial hardships during Christmas. I asked the store clerk if we could get a military discount and she said we had to contact the "corporate" office. I was disappointed but went ahead and rented the truck. The store manager contacted me a couple of days later and said we did in fact receive a discount because they had given me a free upgrade (just didn't tell me that when I signed the contract). The 15 foot moving van we rented was old and worn out; it had nearly 90k miles and the windshield wipers smeared the rain while I was driving. The interior light didn't work properly so off-loading the 500 sport balls was a challenge in the dark. I returned the van within three hours of renting it and was charged for a full day. read more

We had a great experience at this location, and wanted to thank them. We had a battery die while we were hooking up, and they went out of thier way to help us jumper and start our truck. In the confusion, we forgot to take some of our furniture pads, and Steve was very helpful in crediting the missing pads, even calling our destination location to let them know that we would be returning less than the contract stated. One star... I don't give out a lot of one star ratings because I can usually find something good about any place, but I will be avoiding this U-Haul business like the plague. My daughter and son-in-law moved up from California and used two of the U-Box containers U-Haul offers. They were delivered to this location. They called and made a RESERVATION to pick them up. The first thing that went wrong was our reservation doesn't mean anything other than they will have them on a trailer at that time. NOT that they will help you or be ready for you at that time. We still had to wait 45 minutes while they took their time on other customers buying boxes etc... Finally it was our turn and they had us pull our truck down and hook up to the trailer. They manager (Tyler Andersen) was helping us and after he hooked it up mentioned he didn't think our full size Dodge 4X4 truck was large enough to pull the trailer. It would have to be rated for at least 5,000 pounds. He mentioned we might have to rent one of their trucks. We were instructed not to leave yet so we got the owner's manual out for our truck and it said the rated towing capacity was 7,250 pounds. Well over the 5,000 he mentioned. We go inside to find him and he is now sitting behind his desk helping other customers so we have to wait again for our turn in line... I'm getting a bit upset at this time because I don't believe customer service involves ignoring customers and making them wait in line more than once. When we get back up to his desk I point out the owner's manual rating and he said it doesn't matter because the "Curb Weight" of the truck isn't enough. I tell him the truck can handle that trailer and the content just fine and we will sign a disclaimer of liability if he wants. He just kept saying he can't let us take it as the curb weight isn't enough. I ask where he is getting his information from and he turned from me and was starting to ask another customer if he could help them. At this time I was furious as I'm not accustom to having someone treat me so rudely, so I jumped in and was not going to allow him to ignore me so he finally said we can either rent one of their trucks or they will have to load the U-Boxes on a lighter trailer and that would take another hour and half. The assistant manager came by and said he would load the boxes on another trailer right now for us so we could get going. He saved the day as for us getting these boxes to my daughters. We looked up "Curb Weight" and it's the trucks gross weight found in the driver's side door jam. It was over 6,600 pounds. I believe he just wanted to rent us a truck. read more

He didn't even inspect the tank to see it had been recertified, but when I went back to show/tell him they were locking the door and said they are closed. Go elsewhere!! Would give them 0 stars if I could. Made a reservation, or so I thought, day before moving and I find out they never made it... After I found out they never made my reservation that 2 days prior they said they made, I asked to talk to a manager and ended up waiting 20 minutes for her. When I finally talk to her, she doesn't care AT ALL that my reservation wasn't made or that I just had to wait 20 minutes for her. Couldn't even fake an apology. I had a scheduled appointment to get a trailer hitch installed at 11am. At 11:45am, they had yet to touch my car and I had to seek them out to find out what was going on. They apologized and said they were running 2 hours behind and asked if I could come back later. I lived 1 hour from the store and told them this was not going to work. I cancelled my appointment and found a much friendlier place to get my hitch installed. It took 7 days and 4 phone calls before they refunded my money for this as well. Their 1-800-Go-Uhaul customer service people were not apologetic or friendly at all and no one seemed to know what they were doing. The only good thing was Cody, the store manager, who seemed to actually care and quickly handled my refund after 7 days. I will never use UHaul again for anything if I don't have to. read more

Staff was very polite and helpful!!! They could tell that we had had a miserable few days prior to arriving at their facility to unload into a storage unit and return a truck, and went out of their way to make sure that we were well taken care of. About an hour and a half before they closed, they came and let us know about the time, and reminded us (kindly) that we needed to be out by closing, and then added that they would be sure to come back and give us a ten minute warning. It was all done in a kind and respectful manner. I'm looking forward to dealing with them again in the near future! read more

I have rented U-Haul trucks numerous times. This was by far the worst rental experience ever. After waiting over 20 minutes to receive my truck, my truck was blocked in by another truck and I had to wait again while that truck was moved. Upon entering the truck I realized that the gas level was not what was stated on the contract - it was far lower. In addition, the check engine light was on. U-Haul has now instituted an extremely cumbersome check-in check-out process that requires extensive use of a cell phone. I will not be renting from Uhaul again, particularly this location. Technology has taken over customer service to the customer's detriment. The response from U-Haul involved numerous phone calls, each with extensive time on hold. At this point, I am not sure that the gas charge will be reversed. At any rate, it has not been worth my time trying to resolve the issue. If you have other rental choices I suggest you explore them. read more

HORRIBLE customer service!! Made reservations on 2/9 for a truck to move on 2/27, got a call today 2/24 that they over booked the trucks and there's not one available. They even refused to give us a discount on a smaller truck, there own website states "your reservation is guaranteed or we'll give you $50". We will NEVER use them again. read more

The angry reviews below seem to reflect customers general frustration with moving and confusion around U-haul's reservation policy and not this actual location - in fact, of the myriad of U-haul locations I've done business with across the PNW this is the ONLY one that delivered prompt, attentive service. When unexpected snowfall added time to my moving process I called to find out how much I would owe for returning the truck late; they immediately waived the fee and added time to my truck rental at no cost. They gave me helpful price comparison information that ended up saving me a significant amount of cash (although I wish I'd known they carry the absolute cheapest -and even some free- boxes before I'd bought all of mine!) and made the truck rental and return process (something that has usually been a thorn in my side during moves) the easiest part of my day.
