It is rare for me to write a review about a company but this place truly deserves one. It is rare these days to experience great professional service; however Daniel Desmond and his staff have a truly excellent and exceptional way of making each customer feel like we really matter. Moving is stressful enough as it it and it has often been compared to death and divorce. Moving often I have been to many different U-Haul Moving & Storage Centers over the years. Most of the time customers are rarely noticed and made to feel as you are being rushed out without the staff considering your needs. Daniel goes above and beyond to ensure your needs are being met and you are being taken care of with sincere and courteous professionalism. I made a reservation in April for a storage unit advertised at $85 for a June move-in-date. I called two days before my drive to Westminster to make sure my unit was all set up. Customer service confirmed it was reserved for me for June 6th. Upon check -in I was notified by Greg that the unit had been marked reserved and given away and that there would be an up-charge for a larger more expensive unit. Why would I make a reservation three months in advance to hold a unit if you just give it away??! Unacceptable customer service! Dan the manager was rude and I'm still waiting to hear back!! I came on a Sunday morning right when they opened up. There were a few guys already ahead of me, so I just hopped in the queue. It takes a while for each customer because they're mostly picking up trucks/vans, but the employees were working as fast as they could. All I needed was some propane, so when it was my turn we went out to get it filled and then paid at the register. It's hard to tell when there will be a long line, so it's hit or miss on the wait times. If you manage to get no lines, you could have your propane tank filled and on you way in less than 10 minutes. For $2.99/gallon, it's your best option to fill you tank up. read more

I rented a truck to haul a trailer and bought some of U-hauls magnetic trailer lights. After driving 15 miles on the 22 I arrived and realized one of the magnets didn't stick to the steel frame of the trailer like they were supposed to. The light dragged against the road due to the bad magnets and was completely destroyed. When I returned the truck I mentioned to one of the guys working and he said he'd ask the manager, who came out and said "that sucks" and wouldn't offer anything in return for the $30 I spent on the defective lights. All the other guys working were cool but the deadbeat looking manager didn't seem to care at all. read more

This place is a joke. Talk about horrible customer service. I had to and a move and rented a trailer. I waited in line in their store for 30 min while one associate helped another with a customer who had no idea what he was doing. After waiting 30 min they told me they trailer I rented needed repair and "they should've called me to let me know. The worst part is the trailer looked good to me. POOR MANAGEMENT! I have waitted for last 3 days to receive call but, They never called. I cancel my order from Westminister UHAUL. Westminister UHAUL does not have their direct phone number and phone number showing wesite is UHAUL main line. Customer service is worst and they have direct branch commucation problem . read more

They just installed a hitch on my 2015 VW Passat. I found out that they installed a used hitch and lost the underbody panel. The panel supposed to be trimmed and installed back on. read more

Terrible experiences each time I come here. Simply out of convenience due to location, I've given this U-haul my business twice, but never again. Summary for below: Go elsewhere. Integrity issues, poor business practices, shady manager & employees. First time I went, they gave my trailer that I had reserved away to another customer and did not call me to let me know, even after I had confirmed that I was coming to get it. Then the manager, Michael, saw me as I entered the UHaul store and refused to acknowledge his mistake, and hid at another computer a couple feet away. They tried to make me feel guilty that they had to look for the same trailer, and sent me to another shop to pick up a trailer. For this second and final visit, I had a trailer reserved for 24 hours, from 10 AM to 10 AM the next day. During a phone call to confirm the appointment, I told the employee over the phone that I'd definitely be late and that 10 AM wasn't an accurate time for arrival. He told me not to worry, and that he'd just put 10 AM. And why should it matter, right? I paid for the reservation times, so I should be able to pick it up at the 23rd hour if I damn well pleased. NO WHERE during this conversation did he state it would get cancelled if I came later than 10 AM. I show up at 12:30 (as expected), and an employee lectures me that my appointment had been canceled and that I should've told them an accurate time of arrival & explains how "lucky I am" that there's just one 6'x12' trailer left. We hook the trailer up, and OF COURSE there's electrical issues with it. I sit there for 20 minutes while the employee scratches his head trying to figure it out. But, magically, he's got THREE more 6'x12' trailers sitting there ready-to-go. After 30 minutes (don't ask me why I waited so long, I'm not sure either) of him trying to fix the electrical issue, he grabs one of the other three trailers sitting there and hooks it up in a minute. This uhaul is seriously the best! It's extremely hard to do anything through Uhaul's reservation line, so I just take the 10 minute drive and come directly here. Dan and David have ALWAYS made sure that we are taken care of. I stored my belongings here for 3 years and NEVER had any issues. Boxes boxes boxes boxes boxes. My condo is floor to ceiling boxes everywhere. 95% of them say U-Haul on the box. U-haul has surprisingly good prices on their boxes and they have a ton of variety to choose from. They are USA made and very sturdy. This location is fully stocked and very convenient. If you buy in bundles you save even more. Nice thing is if you over estimate the amount you need they give you a refund on any unused boxes as long as they are in their original condition. Unfortunately this is where the savings end. Their packaging tape and bubble wrap is a rip off. If you need this stuff get it at Sam's Club. There's a message board on the website that allows you to give away or ask for used boxes. I'll probably end up doing that to help somebody else out that's moving. Another useful thing about this location is the sell propane! Staff is very friendly but the office is always sooooooo hot and humid. Within minutes of waiting in line I'm drenched in sweat. read more

This review is for the propane service only, I've been coming to this location for propane refills for years. Fairly recently they began a pay at the pump type service where once they are done filling your old tank they swipe your card and off you go. Its faster than it used to be having to walk inside and maybe wait in line to pay. Before filling my tank the gentleman checked to make sure my tank was up to date and still able to be refilled, I had it tested and certified a few years back and it was still current. I'm not sure but i think you get 10 years form new and then 5 years for recert, It is still cheaper to take your existing tank and have it refilled, not only do you get a 100% fill instead of 75%, it still costs at least $5 cheaper than any exchange. I believe the exchange tanks are shipped only 75% full due to transport concerns of sitting on a truck in the overheating / over pressurizing and leaking out through the safety valve. read more

I had made a reservation for a trailer about a month and advance, for some reason the employee who had booked my reservation had mixed up a lot of details, he did not even book the correct size trailer. Upon looking over my reservation I noticed these issues and then called over a week in advance to fix it, I get on the phone with the employees there and they said they could not help me, and just forwarded me to their scheduling phone number... There I talked to someone who was able to fix my reservation times and size of my U-Haul to the 6 x 12. It wasn't until the day I was moving, that I show up at U-Haul to pick up my reserved trailer come to find it is the 5 x 8 size. I am moving to another state, as a broke college student this was a nightmare. I asked the employee there if there's anything she could do to help fix the trailer, and she said she had none available. She was kind, but did not even bother to look at availability at surrounding locations because simply it is the end of the month and assumed that everything is booked up. Frustrated, I tried to do what I can to make it work, but called the scheduling office to see what went wrong, apparently the upgrade was done when I called to fix, but an employee at the store had apparently downgraded the size afterwards without notifying me!? Now I am THOUSANDS of dollars in debt because of the furniture I couldn't fit in my ONE TIME move to a different state. This was an absolutely DEVASTATING mistake. My disappointment is immeasurable and my move was ruined. Update: I was told to bring it back before they close at 6pm when we had first picked it up, only to receive a call at 9:30am while we were still on the road from UTAH to bring it back by 12?! Luckily they were able to push it to 2:00 but still absolutely unacceptable. Thank goodness I left as early as I did! Lastly, the manager wasn't even around to do anything so now I'm stuck in limbo until he comes back and handles this horrendous situation. Update: the location has just force charged the other half to my card without trying to make any calls or contact from the manager (as promised) no attempts to better the situation or even take responsibility for their mistake. Absolutely unacceptable, now unfortunately customer service has to deal with an earful due to the absolute idiocy and unprofessionalism from this location. read more

Oh my gosh these guys are fantastic! Nick and Dan were efficient, patient and kind. They treated me like family. Moving is stressful, these guys made this part fun. I cant find the name of the sweet guy who checked me in...but EVERYONE had big smiles on their faces and reminded me that in this messy world...their are truly great humans! read more

Unbelievable.... just remember that if you bring the trailer back late they will charge you double! When you rent your trailer MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THE LONGEST CONTRACT PERIOD....if you don't and only ask for a few hours but bring it back in four hours they will double charge you!!!! What a rip off. This is their scam... I left a 5 star reviw because the service and trailer were wonderful. But a few days later received a double charge to my account. When I pulled up the info I found that they said I exceed my contract time of 2 hours and because I used the trailer for a total of 4 hours that constitutes a double charge. This company sucks and they don't tell you these things until you notice it on your bank account. Beware!!!! read more

We had an awesome experience here. Dan and the other employees went above and beyond to make sure we got the right equipment and were fully taken care of. They also gave us a great deal! The employees were all personable and helpful. The truck was very clean and all equipment worked great. I would definitely recommend going into the store to talk to the associates instead of booking a reservation online. The associates are able to talk you through the process and give great advice. We made an online reservation to rent a 5x8 utility trailer for 2 days. However, upon arrival, we found out that there were no more 5x8 trailers and they upgraded us for no extra cost. We forgot the gentleman's name who helped us initially, but he was awesome and got us up and going very quickly. On the day of our return, we came 2 minutes before they were supposed to close, and we felt awful, but Greg met us with wonderful customer service and kindness. Keep up the good work! read more

Westminister, CA - Rented 20 foot truck. Clean (and they even swept off debris from loading ramp before I took the truck out), good tires, mechanical good. Customer Service was great. There seemed to have been a disconnect between main call center and local/regional centers regarding actual in inventory vehicles in Lakewood, CA but they worked through it and got me confirmed for a truck closer to our destination area. Upon returning the truck, David was excellent, professional. Made the end of the process as good as the start. Thank you! read more

Wow, this place is the absolute worst. The General Manager Dan was rude and the guy at the counter is incompetent. We had a trailer hitch APPOINTMENT last week and we were there on time . We had to wait 3 hours!!!! And then still could not get the hitch installed because their reg installer was not there and the substitute installer was backed up. Then they gave us a new appointment for today at 8:30 AM. We were again on time but we're told that AGAIN their installer is sick. Wow a trailer hitch "super center" with no installers gives out appointments and won't even call to cancel. What a waste of time !!!! Do not try and make a reservation for anything because odds are they will tell you that you need to go to another location to see if they have what you need. After looking around the area for good Uhaul locations, this one came up on my yelp, I gave a try. And I was glad that I did! Michael helped me and he was fast and a very kind person. When I return the van there was another guy and he was nice, too. Happy employees = happy business. Not sure why this business get only three stars.... I would use this location again for sure when I need. Ive used multiple Uhaul businesses and it's always hit or miss, I had a horrible experiences in the past. Usually those bad ones are owned and operated by the same guy. So I always look for locations which have multiple employees who are always present during their business hours. Staff was competent and friendly and helpful. Solid place to rent a truck. I think the storage facilities are overpriced compared to other places, however and that having a multi-floor storage facility with no elevator is not OK. If you need storage, use the public storage 100 yards down the road, but just rent your truck here. read more

I booked an 8 feet pickup truck to tow my 20 feet boat (3000 pounds) and told UHaul at booking. At the time, it seems that everything was Ok but they told me to purchase my ball. I purchase an adjustable ball ($125). But on the day of the pickup, when I told them that I was getting the truck for my boat, the manager refused to give me the 8 feet I had booked and said that I needed to get a 10 feet truck for this purpose. I looked up their truck online and the towing capacity was more than sufficient. I asked the manager why I could not get the pickup truck and he told me that he did not believe my 20 feet boat was that light. Since I had no choice, I took the 10 feet truck. But I kept it only for a day instead of 2. When I returned the truck I was told that they were going to charge me only for the day I used. But the day after they charged me for 2 days. Between the extra day and the ball kit I purchased, I wasted $225. Overall, I would not trust the staff at that location and I definitely do not recommend it. read more

I rented a trailer for 9 days from the Westminster CA location. When I arrived to pickup the trailer the lady that helped me was friendly and finished the paperwork efficiently. We went out to hook the trailer to my car. She hooked it up and tested the lights. The break lights and turn signals worked. The running lights did not work. She told me to pull to the return area and someone would come check it out. This is where the issue began. After several minutes someone came out and checked my car's power at the trailer plug. My car is a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder with factory towing package. The guy who tested my car had a poor attitude. He said the problem was my car and walked away. I waited a while and nobody ever came to tell me what the plan was. I decided to go to my house where I have equipment to troubleshoot the problem. At my house after diagnosing the problem I found my car had a blown fuse in the panel under the hood. I went a bought new fuses and came back and changed the fuse. As soon as I put it in it blew again. I unpluged the trailer and changed it again. Now I checked the power at the plug at the back of my car. I had 12 volts at the running light pin. I then used a continuity meter and checked the plug on the trailer from turn signals to ground. No shorts. I checked running lights to ground and it was shorted. I followed the wires under the trailer and found a connection where the wires split to go to each side of the trailer. I cut the running light wire. I tested for a short and it was still shorted. I tested for a short where I cut the wire. It was not shorted here. The short must be in the 3 foot section the wires run through the tongue of the trailer. I ran a separate wire on the outside of the tongue and connected the wires where I had cut it. I tested for a short and it was not shorted any longer. I plugged the trailer into my car and all lights now worked great. I have pictures and video of what I did. My complaint Is the Uhaul trailer was causing the problem and the guy who checked my car didn't even check the trailer for a short. Just gave me attitude and said I needed to fix my car. No help whatsoever. I had to spend 2 hours before I could load the trailer and get started on my trip. Thank goodness I have the skill to troubleshoot this issue. I am very dissatisfied with this rental. Makes me not want to use uhaul or recommend uhaul to my friends. read more

Made a reservation for a hitch install and paid for it up front through the website. I'm running late so my wife takes the van in on time. Wife waits for 35 mins just for someone to help her while I'm on my way to pick her up. I show up with them saying hitch never got delivered. I ask why they didn't call me. Worker says "stuff happens." I ask, "what's the point of a reservation if they can't even guarantee delivery of the product." Worker states, "you're supposed to wait for our phone call before showing up." Huh?! So what's the point of a reservation? They say it should be a couple days til delivery and to wait for our call. I don't get a call and have to call the central customer service phone line to get an answer. Store manager calls me and states that the part never came in their shipment, and that he'll look into finding it at a local store. He never calls me back with an answer. Staff is very inefficient and it seems that it's always someone else's fault. After reading other people's reviews especially in hitch installs, I ended up cancelling and refunding after waiting 30 mins in customer service. Don't waste your time! Even customer service admitted that they have a difficult time directly contacting any local store. So what's the point of customer service! They're worthless. UHaul should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I have used u haul many times for moving. I have not used this dealer before and doubt I will again. I delayed picking up the truck for 2 days as I was not yet ready. On the third day the agent said they will rent. It out to someone else. The truck was new and in excellent condition but the throttle was a bit touchy. I hurt myself and to make a long story short I kept the truck 2 extra days. They were accommodating on that. When I returned the truck one guy checked it in and another did the paperwork he was over eager to charge me the $5.00 a gallon even though I put 4 gallons when returning it and I drove it a grand total of 13 miles. I had to dig up the original rental doc to show him the needle was in the wrong spot originally. The friend that was to pick me up did not answer the phone. I have been 47 years old for 15 years, and I was worn out, I asked the clerk if there was anyone that could drive me the 2 miles home. He said he can call me a cab. The u haul store in Buena Park did this for me before and the store on fairview in eastern Garden Grove offered to drive me before also The attitude of this tattooed wonder was less than friendly or helpful. I must admit the other staff were acceptable. Note: I walked the 2.2 miles carrying my 2 laptop bags and push broom. When I noticed my fingers turning blue and had cramping I realized I am not 20 years old today LOL. I also discovered that they have their heads up where the sun don't shine when it comes to billing the billed an original $39.00 when I got the truck then another $47.00 when I returned it then 4 days later billed me another $189.00 (the amount of the final bill). Fortunately the two authorizations cleared over the weekend but still left me short on cash read more

So, I read the recent reviews. That's after I was reassigned to this location due to an equipment availability issue. Horrified as I was reading recent experiences, I still had no choice, and went in expecting the worst. Melvin was low key, professionally handling a busy line on Sunday with numerous customers , and taking sufficient time to ensure each customer was thoroughly satisfied. David was exceptional. Fielding concerns during the rental period and going above and beyond (in my opinion) for the customer. We've all been there. A time when both customer and employee recognize a human situation, and the employee can either choose the easy road and respond like a robot, or choose the other road and treat you like a human. David did the latter. I don't know if they are purposely stepping up their game, but I was pleased enough to write my first Yelp review today. It's because of them. Thank you Melvin & David. read more
