I hired ABF UPACK on Aug 6th. I agree they are comparatively cheaper when it comes to full fledged moving services. I had hired UPACK to move goods between Toronto and Stamford. They had promptly delivered the truck. Their contract or agreement stated that estimated move is 2 business days once the vehicle starts moving. But here is what happened to me. I had relocated from Toronto to Stamford and I liked the 2 days estimate bcos it gives you an idea as to what to expect in terms of scheduling the unloading process. But what happened to me was very much unacceptable. Right from day 1 I started tracking the move of the shipment. They will ask you to call the destination terminal which I did. The folks at destination terminal tell you what is the expected time when you should expect to receive it. For me my contract said 2 days. But when I called on day 1 they said after 4 days. Then I started following up every day and then on the 5th day, when I called they said the next week. So I called up their customer service and asked them why was there such a discrepancy between their estimates and reality. (at the time of writing this review, I have still not recd my shipment). They just coldly apologized and said that they cannot control when the trailer moves. So the bottom line is whatever they give you on the contract is very high level estimate. I will not choose their services every again. I have lost lots of money in this wait game. Go with someone else but not U PACK. Poor customer service and bad delivery timings. Their contract terms indemnifies them from all responsibilities. DO NOT CHOOSE THEM IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GOODS. Please pass this message along. I made the horrific mistake of leaving my number to receive a quote. I have had 8 calls from different numbers & 5 Voicemail's. I've had to block each number, not to mention these calls came through at 9:45p. I DON'T EVEN WANT A QUOTE ANYMORE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE. read more

If could give zero stars, I would. I had a horrible experience with my Seattle to NY move. Note: A version of this review was also sent to their customer service, accounting and safety email aliases, but no response yet. ABF completely lied about the features and quality of their "weatherproof" storage containers. After paying ABF nearly $5,000 to see that my belongings were taken care of, my things were delivered in a wet, moldy and DESTROYED state including antique, heirloom family furniture, collector's literature, and thousands of dollars' worth of clothing and shoes to name a few items. Not only were my valuables ruined, but I had the most horrific time coordinating the drop-off time for my trailer. Someone from ABF called to collect my last payment for storage (which was a huge, huge mistake - something I should have held until I received my things). They said my truck departed from the NJ terminal at 12:15 and should be there in about an hour. So, I scheduled movers to come at 1:00. The truck didn't arrive until 3pm! I called the dispatcher's office 10 times and all they could tell me was that the driver left at 12:15. I had NO IDEA where my things were for nearly 3 hours. After my 7th or 8th call, the dispatcher finally told me the truck driver would call me, which he never did. This was by far the poorest, disorganized communication I have ever encountered from a business. Not only that, but I lost another $125 because I had movers sitting and waiting. Another inconsistent promise from ABF that cost me money. The customer service and basic infrastructure of your business is entirely flawed in the fact that you can't tell your paying customers where in transit their things are, or have any way of getting in touch with your drivers. It is unfathomable that ABF says they're a moving/storage company when they show such utter negligence toward a customer's priceless possessions. I have no way to pay to fix the water damage done to my grandmother's dresser. I will be paying hundreds of dollars to see that my molded clothes and shoes are wearable again, though I may just have to throw them away. While you may say they are just "things," these "things" represented the life I built for myself over the past several years and represented connections to family that I can never get back. U PACK PAYS 10 CENTS PER POUND FOR FREIGHT THAT THEY RUIN. You agree to this in the service agreement. The truck moving my stuff flooded, everything I own is ruined. ABF agreed that they were responsible for ruining my stuff, but they paid 30 dollars for the coach. It was such a joke, I'm so angry at myself for not noticing this in the liability statement. I am posting about it so other are aware, IF U PACK RUINS YOUR STUFF, AS THEY DID TO MINE, THEY WILL PAY YOU PENNIES FOR ALL YOUR EARTHLY BELONGINGS. They have the highest rate in the industry for settling claims. You know what that means? They ruin stuff regularly and pay 10 center per pound for it. (Also, when you have the deal with ABF for scheduling the truck rather than U-Pack, their customer service is a joke, but that's basically irrelevant after they ruining thousands of dollars of my stuff and paid me nothing for it.) read more

Okay here is our story with u-pack. We book our 3 relo-cubes for drop off on 10/12/2014. Went smooth and Sonny McKinney is great. Drop off is for 10/27/2014. On 10/22/2014 we get a call from "MIKE" who works at the local terminal. He says our flatbed truck is broken down and can you re-schedule which is left on a message on my cell phone. So I call right back and tell him I need it for the scheduled days and tell him I'd paid extra to make sure dates were good. I then ask if there is only one flatbed and he says yes and they are waiting for a part. I explain how much planning went into this move and he says he's sorry that I should call the u-pack office which I reply maybe you should. He says he already did but if the truck gets fixed within the next 2 days he will call me. Living here on Long Island NY I thought having no resources but one flatbed to be rather strange. Ok so I call the u-pack office and the REP is aware of the issue. I then explained my situation and asked what they could do for me. She offers to take $500 off the move if I'd like to take our belongings to the terminal ourselves. I find this odd because what are you really giving us, the price quote would have about $500 less if we had done a "terminal load". She then offers me the phone # of local movers that could transport our belongings to the terminal for us at our expense. Wow!!! We tell her that's not good for us and let's wait it out and see if the flatbed gets fixed. So she asks " so you don't want to cancel" I reply I'm not canceling sounds like your canceling because of the truck issue. The whole idea of us loading our belongings in the cubes was very important to us. And the reason we couldn't re-schedule was we were only going to be down in SC for 2 days to receive the pods. Plane tickets already purchased. Ok so now I get a message on 10/23/14 from u-pack CS that mike from the terminal had asked them to call me to tell me that the truck was not going to be fixed. I guess Mike knew we were upset and didn't want to make the call( said that he would call us) not a big deal but would have been nice if he called as he said he would. So I call u-pack CS and get Kelley. She was great but really she just didn't have the resources to help. One truck breaks down and there goes the whole operation!!!! I guess we could have understood the truck situation and the inconvenience that we incurred but the only solution that u-pack would have provided had to be a solution that didn't effect their bottom line. Maybe there have been some good experiences with u-pack but ours was not one of them! read more

I recently moved from CA to NY and used this service. I only had about 1 bedroom worth of stuff. The people on both ends were both helpful and friendly. Especially Lori Graham but everyone from Martin the driver who delivered my trailer to the final guy who showed me the trailer in Brooklyn were great people. I only had one broken mug, which was ultimately up to the customer to pack tightly and smartly which I did. I brought 2 HDTVs with me and both made it handsomely. One star off was mainly because my truck wasn't ready until 11 (or 7 business) days later. I understand this is quick enough but it was advertised as 5 business days. Everything else was top notch and I would use them again for my inevitable move back to sweet sunny California. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with ABF Relo-cube moving from Brooklyn. You do need to be flexible as timing windows on the days of drop-off and delivery can be wide but I definitely recommend this service! We were able to fit a good deal into one Relo-cube, it is surprisingly big. Dave, the deliverer on the Brooklyn end was so helpful and it was a real pleasure to meet him. read more

Overall I had a good experience with U-Pack. It was the cheapest option, all of my things arrived on time, the staff was helpful and friendly, and none of my things arrived damaged. My one complaint was that they couldn't give me a delivery window time for when my things would arrive. I was driving into town from another city on the day of delivery and since I didn't have a time window of when my things would arrive, I couldn't gauge what time I needed to be at the apartment to receive the trailer. That being said, they called to say they would be delivering promptly at 8am, which would be great had I planned for this delivery time, but I was still on the road. That being said, they were able to deliver later that day and luckily I was able to find a TaskRabbit who was flexible enough with his schedule to unpack the trailer, so it all worked out. It seems logical to me that they would be able to provide a delivery window in the future. read more

I am a disabled woman with a friend who has been waiting for my cube since yesterday. The storage facility I am waiting at closes at seven and now they tell me that I have to wait another 45 mins. for my cube to arrive. I am going to have to stay with my belongings overnight in the parking lot in a strange city because two women cannot possibly unload a cube and fill the storage unit before closing. I am beside myself and so sorry that I went with this company. The Wisconsin end was fine. The Brooklyn side is rude, ill-informed, and one star is way too high for them. read more

I never EVER write reviews that are poor but as I am sitting here waiting for my package, and I feel obligated to let everyone know how AWFUL this company is. My package was supposed to arrive last Tuesday so I took a day off as I got a call to confirm I am home... No one came, same exact thing happened on Wednesday took a day off got a call confirming I am home and nothing. I called the following Monday because their phone are out on Thursday and Friday. I was told I need to schedule ANOTHER TIME again on Tuesday. I asked for a morning delivery and nothing I call the office and no answer. I call customer service and they can not put me in touch with the drive only the dispatch (where the phones don't work). They emailed the dispatch and left a note on the system telling them to call me when their phones work. I leave for work at 11am on Tuesday morning knowing they won't come. I get a call at 3pm telling me to come outside because the delivery truck will arrive in 20 min. I explained that I left for work, there should be a note in the system that I require the delivery in the morning and Rescheduled it (for the 3rd time) for Wednesday. I called today (Wednesday) I confirm my morning delivery and I was assured it will be here before 12pm. It's 1:10pm and I am still at home. Their customer service it's terrible and attention to detail and care is non existing. I called them once again and explained to them that I was told that I should be getting my package before 12pm and I was told that they have a lot of packages and they sent it through ANOTHER company, they provided the number of the company and quickly hung up. I called the other company and was told that it is on the truck and it will not be any later than 5pm. They are cheap yes... And you get what you paid for!! Unfortunately for me I could not choose how my package will be delivered. NEVER AGAIN! RUN the other way pay a few dollars more and use a NORMAL company like UPS, USPS, FEDEX, or DHL. I had a great experience with ABF Upack on my move from Florida to Brooklyn earlier this month. I chose the terminal-to-terminal option, and it really was seamless. I packed the trailer in Orlando where I moved from, and it was simple. I packed my stuff into 3ft of trailer space and used tie downs and straps to secure it all which was both necessary and efficient. The driver there placed the bulkhead for me (the partition between my stuff and commercial stuff) which was great because there was no way I could do that on my own (I'm short and weak). I was quoted 3-5 business days for transit. My truck left Tuesday night after I packed it, and by that Thursday I got a call from the Brooklyn terminal to schedule my unloading as the truck had arrived! I was flying up that same day and was blown away that the truck had beat me to New York! I rented a zip car and unloaded by that Friday evening after a few trips back and forth. I was pleasantly surprised with how great of an experience I had.... I was afraid to acknowledge how well it was going until it was all finished as to not jinx myself it was that impressive. No issues, no hidden costs or fees, never thought I could move out of state for ~$500, the most economical option I found for sure. Oh yeah and there's a family of geese that lives in the Brooklyn terminal that were cute too read more
