A/C not working, hot in there. Long lines, no postal workers. Slow as molasses. Avoid.

"A year has passed since I wrote my note," the narrator reveals before laying bare that he "hope[s]…read morethat someone gets my message in a bottle" in the Police's 1979 number one, UK chart-topping, hit song of the same name. But what if, instead of those pleas echoing from the vocal chords of an island castaway, they were delivered matter-of-factly from one of the many soon-to-be-satisfied patrons of the U.S. Post Office located at 10901 Rhode Island Ave. in Beltsville, Maryland? First, we would lose all manner of suspense in the lyrics credited to Sting; and, second, the narrator's devastating visual discovery of "a hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore," signifying that he's "not alone in being alone," would never have happened, because the bottle, carefully sent via USPS, would have reached its intended destination within the relayed projected time.

Customer service was great at this location. I went here yesterday for the first time to inquire…read moreabout passport services. I spoke with a staff member who was Asian, I'm sorry I didn't get his name but he was so helpful in answering my questions and explaining the process. I was impressed and appreciative. I went back today with my documents and a young lady named Shawnte assisted me. OMG, she was so pleasant and helpful, she patiently took care of my documents and gave clear instructions, at the same time assisted other customers just as efficiently and friendly as she did me. It is refreshing to receive this type of service AGAIN! I have gone to several USPS locations in Rockville, Bethesda, Kensington, College Park and now Beltsville. I have to say the service and tone of this Beltsville location is superior than the others. I say it's refreshing because in today's world the type of service we receive is horrible. It's absolutely horrible to call any business for assistance and receive appropriate service. We're lucky to get a person on the phone and one who can actually resolve the issue. Thank You Beltsville USPS!! You're doing something right !!

Yay, for a new post office with easy access. Not really easy parking though. There is metered…read moreparking out front which was easy to snag during COVID times. There is a garage right around the corner, but I would probably come back another day rather than park in a garage. Don't risk parking in Safeway or Capital One lots. They tow. I went specially to use the self service kiosk machine. There was a guy attempting to use it, but gave up and I zoomed in. It's a bit more detailed than when I use to use it several years ago. At first it told me my recipient's address didn't exist. You also now need to give the measurement of your package. All in all, it was quicker than waiting in line as there was about four people there. The guy that left? He came back to the kiosk. I offered to help him, but he declined my offer.

Downtown Silver Spring deserves better. I've been alive a while, and this is one of the worst post…read moreoffices I've been had to deal with - on multiple stops over the years. There's some sort of grim sickness in the attitudes of all of the sullen, unhappy clerks. They seem to have a grudge against certain people who aren't like them - know what I mean? I blame management, who tells them this sad attitude is OK. They're a disgrace to the great USPS. Also, physically, the space is repulsive and poorly designed, adding to the bad voodoo. Shut this down and start fresh with a new DTSS location, and show these clerks the door.
