The workers and their work was beyond expectations. They expanded the sump pit and installed new sump pumps. They covered the floor from the front door and the stairs to the basement. Then covered all the boxes and clothes in the basement. Completed the work on the pit and pumps in about a half day. Then they collected all the dust, debris, and covers on the floor, stairs, boxes, and clothes. The workers and the sump pit work was beyond expectations. We called this company for a leakage issue we were having. A salesman quickly came out and was very helpful and knowledgeable. We needed drain tiles. The workers came out a couple weeks later and they were amazing. A few days later we discovered a leak by the new sump pump they installed. We called and they referred us to the warranty department who never responded. We tried a couple more times and no response. We resorted to calling the salesman who contacted the warranty department and promised they would call us.....they didn't. Now approximately 6 weeks later the leak has caused mold. We contacted the salesman again. He set up an appointment for 2 weeks from now!!!!! Seriously, I have already waited 6 weeks and paid you over $13,000!!!!!! I would never use this company again. Quick to come to my residence to sell me their services. Install seemed to go as planned except for the fact my yard has bubbles from where their pipe comes up. I checked the pit they installed and also noticed bubbles. That's when I realized that my washing machine is draining into their pit. I reached out to their warranty dept. several times but haven't heard back from them. Going on a week now. I hired this company to repair a leak in my basement. The project was completed successfully and the project area looks fantastic. The clean up after the completion of the project left a lot to be desired. I was left to scrub the kitchen floor. Outdoors was a huge mess that I had rake the grass to collect the pea gravel and hose down the walkway and the threshold to my mud room door. UPDATE #2: The worker who originally took out the drywall returned to repair the walls where plaster had cracked. He told me the issue was where the new drywall on the lower half of the wall (from USW) met the old drywall. My understanding was that this border had to be sanded and reinforced and replastered. This was done and the area was cleaned up, which I appreciated. I was able to paint the walls the next day without any further problem. I also received a check from the company which will help in terms of paying a painter to professionally paint the PVC pipe in the bathroom and re-paint the ceiling. This was the most satisfactory solution to the concerns that we had after the work was done. After this I have learned that it's important to ask questions even if you think they are silly questions (for example, "do you know where the stackpipe is?" rather than assuming the workers do), and to request to have the work that is going to be done explained before it is done. On a multipart, multiday project like ours this is especially critical and it can be problematic if different crews cannot knowledably speak about what is going to happen the next day. So one caveat is to discuss that up front with the inspector who comes in to sign off on the plan before work begins. Of course, this would not have necessarily prevented the cracking plaster but that was repaired quickly without any delay. I will see if this can go to 4 stars. I do appreciate the clear desire to rectify the situation and am glad we presumably will not have to worry about water getting in again. UPDATE: Spoke with Chris at USW who was very helpful and who did reach out to me after getting photos/videos from Luke our salesperson. He agreed that the exposed pipe was unfortunate, and that the communication around those plumbing decisions could have been better-- but indicated that there was no other option for situating it. He scheduled someone to come out and re-do the plastering that had cracked. And he offered a check which will be used to cover the paint job on the bathroom pipe. Seems to be the best outcome of the situation. I will further update after the work is done. ************************* USW was recommended by people we trust so we had them come to look over the finished basement that got water during the summer rains. They could not find the source of the leak(s) so we discussed the need for the whole shebang--tiles, plastic insulation, sump pump. We agreed to the work and scheduled it. The stack pipe (which sump pump connects to) location was misidentified as being in the laundry room, which we found out on the first day of work when the guy removing drywall couldn't find it. That resulted in some unnecessary drywall removal but they finally located it in the bathroom. We were informed that the PVC pipe would have to run along the ceiling through the laundry room and then along the bathroom ceiling, visible in both rooms. We said that was ok, assuming that a straight line of pipe would be what was visible and everything else would be hidden behind walls. These workers were strictly drywall and couldn't answer questions about the piping and plumbing beyond that. The next day of work, crews descended into our basement and blocked off the three rooms being worked on with plastic sheeting for installation of all the waterproofing elements and related plumbing. We stayed out of the way since it was a mess. At the end of the day, after the plumbing supervisor (who we didn't see) left after giving his approval, we were shown the work. See pictures. We were so taken aback we didn't know what to say. No one had come up to tell us this installation was going to leave so much exposed pipe. The following day was not a work day so the cement could dry. We decided with two more days of work scheduled that we wanted to know if there were any options for more drywall to be removed and the pipe repositioned behind the bathroom wall. We did not know if there simply had been no other option. I tried calling the office but kept getting the answering machine (tip: Do not choose the "existing work" option when you are prompted--choose the one that makes them think you are interested in a consultation. Those are picked up by humans). I tried contacting our original sales person who was sympathetic and said he would pass the pictures along but ultimately my husband got a call at the end of the day saying there was nothing to be done. After a week passed I began repainting in the room that got the water seepage. I thought this at least would go smoothly, but then plaster that had been applied over the drywall started cracking in numerous spots. Our original USW contact asked for pictures/video which have been supplied and agreed that it looked like "crap." We are waiting to hear about remediation. read more

we continue having issues with the pump from US water proofing that they put in our basement. We have had our main line rotted out which was another $700 cost on top of having to pull out everything in our basement losing precious pictures wedding because of the system that they claim was supposed to be put into the main sewer system, but if you google it, it states you shouldn't because this overloads the system We've had to buy multiple pumps to get all the water out of our basement, which is another cost of $500. It just seems like ever since they put this system in our basement we have spent more money nobody from the company has come out to inspect the system even though every year they are suppose to come out or make an appointment with us to check and make sure the pump is running correctly. its like once they got paid, they forget you exist. just tired at this point of the money that has come out of our pockets ever since we had this put in this in our basement. I had US Waterproofing out to my house to see what could be done about constant water getting into my basement every time it rained. They sent out a knowledgeable sales guy within a week of my initial call. After an hour or so of looking around my basement, Marc the sales guy, came up with a few options to tackle my situation. After deciding on one of the options, a work order was created and I was told construction would start a few weeks later. During the course of construction I was told me water main was knicked and was leaking but that they would have someone come out the next day to take a look at it and talk to me about it. I burned a day of vacation and took the day off work so I could be there for that conversation. All day the workers were pouring bags of quickrete and doing whatever around the job site, but never once did anyone come up and talk to me about the water main issue. At 4:30pm I see all the workers wrap up for the day and go home. Never once was I made aware of anything being done, it just seemed like business as usual. Tried to get a hold of the project manager but that was almost impossible. I go in the basement and it looks like the work is done but a lot of unfinished stuff laying about, i.e. electrical fixtures and conduit laying about not reattached to the wall, a support beam that was taken down and then just left on the ground, an extension cord wrapped around a gas line being used to power the sump pump that they installed (the lack of foresight about this really irritates me), tried to hook up my utility tub and washer only to find out that the pex pipe for these two are cracked. The best part...it rained last night....and I am still getting water in my basement! Between the lack of communication and shoddy work, I really feel like I was just a dollar amount to this company and not really a customer. Hands down the worst way to spend $18,000. read more

I reached out to them for a quote on a few standard cracks in basement. What I got was the most expensive estimate I've ever seen- $3500 for three very typical, non-structural cracks. Their sales approach was extremely aggressive and pushy, trying to pressure me into a quick decision. The person who gave me the estimate didn't seem like an actual technician but more like a middleman who outsources the work to other contractors and pockets the markup - that's my strong suspicion. I've since received multiple other quotes from reputable companies that were many times cheaper for the same work. Based on my experience I do not recommend this company. I had a leak around a pipe in my foundation wall, serviceman was very informative and answered all my questions. Very professional.

We just got our basement sealed up. So I can't speak to whether they did a good job keeping the water out. Only time will tell. The problem is they had to cut into our driveway to access the outer wall and the concrete fill job looks awful. When I called them about it they said it is standard "feathering" process to keep the concrete from cracking. They call this out in the fine print of their paperwork but they should show people photos of what it will look like when it's finished before people sign off to agree to this. It's horrible and makes our property look junky. I feel like they just want to squeeze the extra cash out of me to do the cement fill job. I would have preferred to fill it with gravel and dirt and grow some plants along the house instead. read more

He told both my partner and I that we had two weeks to decide whether or not we wanted our deposit back. We ended up finding another company(PERMA-SEAL), who did the job for half the price. We called US Waterproofing within two weeks with no answer. 3 weeks later, we were told that only a manager can return the refund. A whole month after our estimate we finally heard back from the manager and they told us that we had 3 days. What a bunch of liars. I own a 21 year old townhome and this past May, which I believe was the rainiest on record for Chicagoland, a foundation crack developed that allowed seepage into my finished basement.  With a few phone calls and some documentation, my HOA (homeowners' association) contacted both US Waterproofing and Permaseal to have this covered repair taken care of.  As US Waterproofing had the earliest  available freed-up opening, they were picked for the followup and subsequent repair.  After an inspection, the foundation crack was subsequently located and repaired and the drywall also repaired by mid July, which was actually a couple months ahead of their competitor.  This past summer was a very busy period for these guys and I was happy the job was done on whatever timeline. Firstly, John of USW came out for an initial inspection and was very good and thorough at doing and explaining his external water hose test, crawling where he could under my back patio deck, and doing an internal foundation wall inspection (via a sump pump closet) to identify the likely crack location.  He was a real pro and represents USW very well to the customer.  Foundation cracks aren't always where you think they might be just based on where you see the water.  Their price for the foundation wall and associated drywall repair was $1700 which I thought was quite reasonable and paid for by my HOA as mentioned.  I had to do my own internal drywall painting as it's kinda oddly not an HOA covered expense, but it was no biggie for me. The foundation crack repair guy Valentino came out by appointment a couple weeks later and did his thing.  He didn't wear a mask until I put my own mask on after a while and he then followed suit.  Being a vendor, I thought that wasn't tip-top professional especially at that time during our pandemic.  When done with the repair, he mentioned the foundation wall was a bit extra tall at 8' and the crack might be deeper than usual and that I should defer his scope of the drywall repair for a week, so the crack repair could dry and a second confirming external water test be done.  He also said the repair he did was pretty solid, so it was sort of contradictory talk.  I was initially told the whole job would be completed that day.  Anyway, I said ok to the prudent sounding idea of retesting and waiting for a third appointment for the drywall repair.  I was to await a followup appointment call.  After another 2 weeks wait, I finally initiated and arranged that appointment after some confusion about who was to contact whom.  My HOA contact was admittedly also involved in the followup confusion.  I mentioned to USW the plan that the drywall repair guy was also supposed to be doing another confirming water hose test, but USW didn't know anything about that and hemmed and hawed about not being able to do that with this drywall guy blah blah, and I said forget it, just do the drywall repair.  We had coincidentally already had rain in between and I inspected myself that there was no seepage, so I was comfortable going ahead.  The whole job could have been done in one day as it turns out 2 weeks earlier and coincidentally right at the start of a three day 4th of July weekend.  Overall, despite the described hiccups, I was still quite happy with the job USW did, but did knock back an otherwise 5 star rating to 4 stars. read more

They were hired to raise the concrete in our driveway and the walkway. They destroyed our property with huge gaps in the sidewalk and uneven driveway . They have large chips in the driveway where they cracked the cement and tried to hide it. There are separations in the walkway and driveway and everything is uneven. They gave us a refund which they wouldn't have done if they did the job properly. We had the adjuster out here who had admitted that they did a horrible job. We have before and after pictures of the piss poor work that they did. They come up with excuse after excuse saying that it was like that before they started. But we clearly have before and after pictures and they are liars. Now it's gonna cost us $10,000 to repair the damage in the driveway and the walkway. And in the meantime when it rains we have a chance of water seepage into our home . I honestly would not recommend them. They don't know what they're doing. I have a drain tile installed before in the basement by US waterproofing in our house. There are moisture spots all over the basement floor. I reported it to them and they came to see it. However, they didn't address the problem and just told me that it has nothing to do with the drain tile but maybe due to leaky pipes somewhere. Other companies said drain tile is supposed not only to avoid flood but also stop moisture coming out through the floors. So this only means that US waterproofing either didn't do a good job with the drain tile or just doesn't want to honor their lifetime warranty. read more

What a great experience! We had heard about U.S. Waterproofing from a few neighbors and family members so we decided to give them a call. We were able to get an appointment for an estimate that same week. I appreciated that we received an email prior to our appointment with information on the advisor that was coming to our house, as well as a video greeting from him. Definitely made me feel comfortable and at ease about having someone come to my house. We worked with John to figure out what we needed for our basement. He was so thorough and really took his time to explain everything to us. We learned so much about seepage! We did not feel rushed or pressured at all, we felt informed. We also received estimates from 2 other companies but nobody was as professional or had a better price than U.S. Waterproofing. Honestly, our experience was so much better with U.S. Waterproofing, we probably would have chosen them even if their quote was higher. But thankfully it wasn't. The customer service rep was really on top of it when it came to scheduling our pre-installation walk-thru and installation. On the day of the actual installation, everything went seamlessly. The 6-man crew was on-time and worked SO hard, for 2 days straight. Very hard workers! Our water problem is now completely fixed and we would not hesitate to hire them again. I've have worked with US Waterproofing over the years and was very satisfied. A couple of weeks ago they came out to looking at our seepage problem. The represented said no problem and took a deposit. When the crew came out to install a membrane they said they needed ComEd to remove the shield so that they could get behind it. I talked to 4 people at ComEd, including a supervisor, who all said they don't do this. Calls to the representative and his supervisor have gone unanswered. I have disputed the charge with my bank to recover my down payment. Very disappointed with this service. read more

He took his time to do his best to educate us on water issues in general as well as our specific ones. While he could not definitively locate the source of our leak. He did explain the best method(s) of narrowing down the possibilities. I had them out a few months ago to fix a leak in my basement. They came out 3 separate times and I still kept getting water. My flooring was ruined and I had to get a contractor in to assess the damage. They were supposed to plug cracks in my wall but did not fi the job correctly. They pretended to do it right and put plugs in the wall but glued them to the wall without injecting the correct material to fix the cracks. Because of their negligence, I need to replace my floor and also had mold in my walls. New drywall, insulation, etc was needed. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! read more

This is the first time in over 20 years we are hoping for a hard rain... the old side of the basement is fully waterproofed & half the outside has been waterproofed too! People have said they are expensive ... well, I'd hate to add up the time & hours spent vacuuming up the basement every time it rained ... and why didn't we take care of this year's ago? We recently had US Waterproofing raise a sidewalk in the back of our house where water would pool and eventually seep into our basement. The sales person David, came out to the house, saw the area and told us they could do the job. When the crew came out to start the work on 5/30/24 I could tell something wasn't right by how they were looking at the area. I asked the one gentleman, Hector, if he could do what was expected and he said yes. After about an hour or two, I went out to see how the job was progressing. Hector told me that they were stopping and that he was doing more damage than good.. They raised the sidewalk but never finished the work as the surrounding area of decorative brick was now damaged and heaved. Hector called the office and advised me the balance owed. I wrote a check and paid for the services giving it to Hector. I took pictures and texted them to the salesperson, David. His response was "I will call you in the morning", this was on 6/7/24. To date, I have not heard from him. I did hear from US waterproofing though - LOOKING FOR PAYMENT. On 6/19/24 I received a call reminding me that services were performed so payment was expected. I told him services were performed and I held up my end and paid the same day even though the job was not completed to satisfaction. He asked if I wanted someone to contact me, I said yes. Well as of today, 6/28/24 I am still waiting for the call and my check has cleared. I believe the salesperson should have told us what could happen to the surrounding area and we probably would not have done the project. It will now cost us $5500 to fix the damage they did. The sales person was extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. However, the sales person misled us into how the work would be done and what the finished product would be. It was especially surprising because during the consultation the sales person commented on poor quality that a competitor did at the property, but ultimately US waterproofing did the same. We are selling our home and noticed some water stains in the crawl space. I called a handful of waterproofing companies in the area and US Waterproofing was the first to have an appointment available and were the most professional and helpful. Buyer beware. Us waterproofing does not stand behind their products. We had our ejector pit redone by us waterproofing. Right after the 4 yr warranty was was up, the ejector put pump failed. I called to find out they no longer use the brand of pump installed AND will not service the pump they installed 4 years ago. They wanted $800 + and said bring in an entirely new system. Nope! I called a plumber, $400 later and a 5 year warranty. read more

At first, I thought hiring such a large company may not be the best idea. I'd just be a number. I was wrong. Great company. Personal attention. However, the company really needs to look at paying their staff more per hour. Extremely tough work. Higher pay leads to happier employees who stick around for a while. Amazon Warehouse employees making $14hr, Walmart $15hr. Travesty they aren't paid more as tough as the work is. How about pulling some bulletin boards on 294 North and move the cash into salaries. One bulletin board is enough. Too much marketing. Move some marketing money into salaries. Pay your number one resource, the workers on the crews. Otherwise, no complaints. Cant really speak about value as I really don't know what other companies charge for same work. I'm a real pain in the butt when contractors working on my home. Rarely do I not have complaints. It took two separate repair sessions to finally stop our basement leak. The first repairman worked for an hour and 15 minutes; the second worked for about 45 minutes. Neither worker checked to determine if the leak had actually been repaired, nor did they tell us to check and how to do so. (To check, one has to run a garden hose outside at the area of the leak and let it run full force for 30 minutes or so.) For this we paid 938 dollars. read more

My wife and I purchased a home earlier this year with a finished basement. With the heavy rains in May, water came into our basement and soaked all of the carpeting. With the carpet removed and subsequent rains in June/July we discovered that water was coming up from one of the walls and cracks in the basement. From start to finish, I have nothing but praise for U.S. Waterproofing. Our inspector, Alan, was very diligent. While other waterproofing and plumbing companies were quick to suggest drain tile, he spent time making sure that it was needed. We spent 40 minutes running a host test to prove that it wasn't over-the-top seepage. Because it was a finished basement (albeit without carpeting at this point), we spent time going over the options and he graciously answered all of our concerns. He spent time explaining differences between the different types of seepage and how they are solved. He spent time how we could minimize work done in our bathroom and how we could extend the drainage past my deck. In the end we decided to go with U.S. Waterproofing because they are a full service company; they handle the demolition, drain tile installation, and reinstallation of all the drywall to get it back to the way it was before they began. Alan and Field Supervisor Mike came back to finalize the job details (interior drain tile, sump pump with backup pump/battery, dry liner along one wall, underground extension with a bubbler pot). Again they made me feel at ease with all of the involved work. When questions came up between that meeting and the actual work, Alan was able to answer them. The work involved one day of initial demo (removing drywall and part of the studs), two days of drain tile installation, and 3 1/2 days of reinstallation. Kudos to the demo foreman Oscar, Jason, and his crew. And kudos to foreman Julio and his crew for the drain tile installation. With my neighbors being so close, they were considerate of making sure the work stayed on my property. They were all attentive and willing to answer any questions I had or resolve any concerns that came up. For example, making sure the pipes going outside were going to be high enough to attach under the deck to allow the bubbler pot to be an extra distance away. And another example was making sure any damage to my existing drywall was fixed as well. In the end it was well worth it. When we had a heavy rain storm a few weeks ago, I heard water draining into the sump pit and then pump kicking in to carry the water out. No water whatsoever came into the basement! read more
