My wife and I purchased a home earlier this year with a finished basement. With the heavy rains in May, water came into our basement and soaked all of the carpeting. With the carpet removed and subsequent rains in June/July we discovered that water was coming up from one of the walls and cracks in the basement. From start to finish, I have nothing but praise for U.S. Waterproofing. Our inspector, Alan, was very diligent. While other waterproofing and plumbing companies were quick to suggest drain tile, he spent time making sure that it was needed. We spent 40 minutes running a host test to prove that it wasn't over-the-top seepage. Because it was a finished basement (albeit without carpeting at this point), we spent time going over the options and he graciously answered all of our concerns. He spent time explaining differences between the different types of seepage and how they are solved. He spent time how we could minimize work done in our bathroom and how we could extend the drainage past my deck. In the end we decided to go with U.S. Waterproofing because they are a full service company; they handle the demolition, drain tile installation, and reinstallation of all the drywall to get it back to the way it was before they began. Alan and Field Supervisor Mike came back to finalize the job details (interior drain tile, sump pump with backup pump/battery, dry liner along one wall, underground extension with a bubbler pot). Again they made me feel at ease with all of the involved work. When questions came up between that meeting and the actual work, Alan was able to answer them. The work involved one day of initial demo (removing drywall and part of the studs), two days of drain tile installation, and 3 1/2 days of reinstallation. Kudos to the demo foreman Oscar, Jason, and his crew. And kudos to foreman Julio and his crew for the drain tile installation. With my neighbors being so close, they were considerate of making sure the work stayed on my property. They were all attentive and willing to answer any questions I had or resolve any concerns that came up. For example, making sure the pipes going outside were going to be high enough to attach under the deck to allow the bubbler pot to be an extra distance away. And another example was making sure any damage to my existing drywall was fixed as well. In the end it was well worth it. When we had a heavy rain storm a few weeks ago, I heard water draining into the sump pit and then pump kicking in to carry the water out. No water whatsoever came into the basement! read more

I really wanted U.S. waterproofing to be helpful and work out, but that certainly wasn't the case. We have had sump pump odor issues for a few months and they were the second useless company to come out. An associate of an another owner in our building referred us. The sales guy came on time and took awhile to come up his solution. I shared my experiences and observations/thoughts that I didn't think better pumps would work, but he assured us that it would address the issue and we would be satisfied. So now a little over $5k later, we are in the exact same situation without any valuable replies from the company. 1. They assured us that the sump pumps we had were inferior and allowing the water to sit at too high a level, causing a stagnant water. Unfortunately they replaced our back up sump pumps with the exact same ones we already had. Which I only noticed because they did a substandard job, and I had to open it up and clean what they said they would do. It appears that they just wanted to charge us more from my view. I do think the main sump pump is much better, but allowing the water to sit a little lower and be able pump out more volume is absolutely useless to deal with our issue... especially as the last pumps dealt with the water fine - never overflowed or anything like that. 2. Quality of work- they dented a wall with a pipe due to carelessness. They didn't clean the sump pump basin at all as promised. They left debris in the bottom inviting future issues. Overall poor quality of work especially disappointing as the sales guy made plenty of comments on the cleanliness and quality that would be performed. Now I'm new to the region and never heard of a sump pump in a house prior to living here. I trusted the advice and experience of the sales guy, which was a costly mistake. Again, we are out over $5k with new sump pumps that weren't needed, but the company made a sale so good for them. Please don't make the same mistake I did. read more

great service. After initial application (leak in basement) area started to leak but it was taken care of few weeks later, and hasn't leaked yet!!!! I think it was roughly $1300 for three cracks in the basement wall. I also got a sump pump from them as mine was old and crappy, that was about $500+, it has WiFi capability so it alert me in a phone, that module not available yet but I was told sometime close to summer it will be; sump pump maybe a bit more expensive than once in the store but it's more powerful and I think quality is better, as they say "you get what you pay for it" read more

Ron from US Waterproofing was very professional in helping me solve a seepage problem. Because of how our basement wall was finished with brick and stone work on the inside, the repair required to be done from the outside. This required digging down to the footing and applying a membrane across ten feet of the foundation. There was a cement slab that needed to be removed, and Ron arranged for this to be done. The crew that came out was very courteous and completed the job over several days. Afterwards, we replanted a few plants that you see in the picture. Living in Brookfield, waterproofing is a necessity. We had the good luck of discovering the previous owners illegally lied to us about our home and past seepage issues. So we were stuck with the bill in finding a reputable company that would give us a reasonable quote and do a great job in waterproofing our basement. Enter U.S. Waterproofing. They attempt to drive hard sales and receive as much profit as possible. They're a business, I get it. So after receiving various quotes throughout the years from both U.S. Waterproofing and Permaseal, in addition to general contractors and no name companies, we went with U.S. for their "winter" specials. They provide various warranties we felt would be helpful, if needed. The price also included their Aprilare system, which I definitely see as a benefit. The initial process was painful as we haggled back and forth about the price. I'm never one to accept a first or second price, so I gave it my all in ensuring a reasonable quote. We signed on two months later and work began a few weeks after. Customer service started the process bumpy. Our go to guy was in the hospital when I called to inquire what time the crews would arrive the next day. I suppose there wasn't a handoff system? At any rate, I got it figured out. The whole waterproofing process took a little longer than initially quoted due to them doing work during the coldest days in January in 50 years. I understood, no biggie. What irritated me was the behavior of their hired crews. In the dead of winter they left cigarette butts on the side and in front of my home. It was even worse when we encountered that the same crews also left piles of rocks and debris both in our shared gangway and front of our home. No professionalism or oversight displayed here. I brought this up after it took my husband having to clear all of this up and scored an additional $150 off our price. It should have been more, though. This should never have happened. The next hiccup was the permit process. Kelly in permits was helpful and did all she could, but it boggled my mind that this part wasn't officially cleared until April which was two months later! There was apparently no communication between my village and U.S. Waterproofing which therefore delayed the obtaining of said permits as well as the approval and verification from the village. Yet, why was I the one left with this huge headache? I was the one who just dropped 10K! Did U.S. Waterproofing do the job they were hired to do? Absolutely. My basement is now able to handle a tsunami. Was it the best price I could find? I would like to think so. Was it a seamless and enjoyable process? Absolutely not. I've had problems with water in two window wells for years and finally had U S Waterproofing fix both. I had both liners replaced, two new covers made, and they installed an interior drain tile system because, to my surprise, no exterior drain tiles were ever installed along the foundation on that side of my house (built 1962.) The work was top notch and they were professional and responsive. The only thing I would fault them with is they left a mess in my unfinished basement, but they did call to follow up about my concern and offered compensation for the excessive dust left behind. read more

YES! My basement finally no longer gets water. I had 3 vertical cracks in my basement wall. The gentleman who came to my house was very helpful in explaining my options to fix my leaky basement. I did not feel any pressure at all to go with the company. After getting a couple of estimates, I decided to go with US Waterproofing. Shawn Finnicum came out to examine water leaking into our crawlspace. By being patient, thorough, and methodical, he was able to rule out a ground water issue and then test the chimney area above. He was able to identify the area where water was getting in - the corner where the chimney met the gutters/siding. Having called upon U.S. Waterproofing on two occasions over the past 20+ years with respect to basement seepage issues, when I recently noticed water on the floor of my garage that seemed to be coming through the foundation, I again turned to U.S. Waterproofing. Ben Shachter came to our house for a free consultation. He explained why our problem was not a foundation issue and suggested some possible explanations and courses of action (none of which involved services to be provided by U.S. Waterproofing). Ben was knowledgeable, patient, and thoroughly professional. I hope it's many years before I actually need to use U.S. Waterproofing's services, but if such a problem arises that's who I will contact. read more

Made an appointment to discuss repairing a foundation crack and replace a 20 year old sump pump. Estimator was professional but estimates seem based on software algorithms. The estimate for repairing the foundation crack seemed high based on similar work we had done to repair a previous crack on another wall. The estimator suggested we get the other company to do the work but promised to see if he could revise the estimate. The estimate for the sump pump replacement was $870. Mid City Plumbing estimated $475 for the same work. We went with Mid City and canceled the USW job. Waiting for our $218 refund from USW. Despite USW's claim that my money was being refunded I was contacted on 10/17 notifying. me that I had to explain the reason for cancellation.before they would refund my deposit. This was not stated in the paperwork I signed and just another hurdle that this business uses to harass customers who find that their prices are high because of high advertising expenses and other overhead expenses. So far the office is not impressing me. I had called a few days ago to talk to a foundation specialist and in order to do so, I had to make an appointment which I didn't even want. I asked if the rep could call me before he came out to talk about the property. It is less then an hour from their 2 hour appointment window, and no call. So I called them and was on hold for over 7 minutes. Finally they answer and said he should call 15 to 30 minutes before arrival and they will transfer me to customer service. .. then I was on hold for another 6 minutes. I didn't need a heads up for him coming, I asked to talk about my house with him before he was on his way. That shouldn't take 13 minutes of waiting to get that straightened out. Their office is strictly ment for appointment making and no experts to talk to which is a shame. Seems like that's how most of these companies are now....they just want to literally get their foot in the door first. **(Finishing review after 2 customer service employees called and asked for a review update and apologized for the long hold) The rep did call me back and he said he was on his way already. So at the house he was nice and patient and gave me his thoughts and why the foundation cracked and what their solutions would be. Their bid came back and they were the highest bid out of 4. We had major flooding recently after spending over 16k to "waterproof" our basement this year. Our neighbors on either side of us had no issues, so I figured I'd give these guys a chance to do the right thing and fix what was obviously a disaster. Mike comes by, and has no desire to find has no desire to find a solution. He tries to blame the city for the backup. I tell him our neighbors didn't have issues, so that doesn't quite make sense. Then, he tries to blame it on the sewer lead from our house that he seems to suggest was poorly installed. He looked a little taken aback when we told him that pipe was installed by his own company. He then backtracks again and tries to say it's the fault of our sewer not being rodded. Guess what, we did that in spring of this year, no issues, and all the paperwork to prove it. Well by now he's run out of excuses, so he can't say for sure, but it's no fault of us waterproofing. Truly embarrassing. To top it all off, the plumbing they did had major leaks (see photo). If you need ways to spend 16k, I can give you some suggestions, but hiring us waterproofing won't be one of them. read more

Ryan was great to work with and gave me an estimate to seal a crack that was very reasonable and I set an appointment for a Saturday morning. That's where to positive review ends, I called the morning of the installation to get the 3 hour window of when they would be here to do the work. They showed up an hour late without even a phone call to say they were running behind. When the showed up they parked in the center of my drive blocking in my wife's car making it impossible to leave for the appointment that she was late for because they were late getting to the job. U.S. Waterproofing came highly recommended and I'm sure the work will exceed my expectations but the professionalism of the work crew has lots of room for improvement. I wish I could give them 5 stars but I'm not happy with the service. read more

Needed a few old rusty well liners replaced. They sent a rep, James, on 9/22nd to assess. He gave a quote w/ a fair price and service date of 10/2nd. Never received any follow-up or confirmation calls. On 10/1st I called, texted & emailed James but he went ghost. Spoke w/ a guy in customer service who informed I was taken off the schedule and should have been contacted by now the reason why... said he was going to let James' supervisor know. The day service was to take place, I contacted customer service again that I have a bad feeling about the company and no longer wanted to do business with them. Transferred a few times, given vague explanations and finally told a manager would call me. Today, almost two weeks later, no one has contacted me. Thankfully, no down payment was made. Just thought I'd give them a chance even after reading multiple reviews from customers who waited weeks & months for work to be done. 10/16th: I'm changing my rating from 1 to 3 stars because I finally received a callback from Rob with a sincere apology. He even offered to do the project w/ no new charges if any additional work is needed. I had to decline the offer since the work was already done by another company. read more

They have no conscience -- watch out. The company refuses to refund my deposit -- when no work has been done. In fact, they were problematic with getting anything going...I had to keep trying to get them to even file the needed permit. They always had a "reason" why they weren't handling things. Much later, when it was clear that this is not a company I'm comfortable working with, I said I'm not moving forward and since they haven't filed the permit don't proceed with permit application. THEN they filed a permit. Still, no work has been done. Their "inspector" hasn't been here. Again, no work has been done. I gave them many weeks' advance notice. Their schedule, etc. has incurred no negative impact. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the beginning but they have proven to be unreliable, difficult, evasive, and their pricing is inordinately higher than other companies commensurate in size. The director of sales was very rude and said he thinks they're entitled to the money even though no work has been done. They lack integrity and are taking money that is not theirs. We do not have a good rating for this company for several reasons. First, they did not do a thorough check of the work to be done. They ended up digging up the side of my driveway that didn't need to be done because they hadn't checked inside where we took the drywall/panels down where we told them we think the leak is coming from. They had to come back and seal the inside because when it rained the water was still coming in as usual. And they did they such a sloppy job that I had taken pics of to show but of course nothing was done. Secondly, we were to have a year of interest free payments and we got 30 days. I'm assuming that because they didn't like that they had to come redo a mistake they made they cheated us out of the interest free for a year. We are not happy with that! I would not recommend this accredited establishment because of these two very important issues we had with them. My advice is to be careful if you are using them and pay very close attention to everything they say and do. read more

Finally I had my mold-infested drywall and carpet ripped out and I called in U.S. Waterproofing. They patched about 20 cracks of all sizes and replaced two storm drains. It is SUCH a relief to know there's a major storm coming our way and not having to worry about more water in my basement! AVOID! We had basement flooding twice over a 3 year period- US Waterproofing came in both times, and both times were confused with the flooding pattern. Multiple people came to assess the basement both times and finally I was told, it is probably seepage, you need drain tile. I put down a deposit of around $7700 after their initial visit thinking I would do the drain tile. After conferring with multiple plumbers, the city, and my insurance company, it turned out the issue was DEFINITELY the city sewer back up after downpour type rains. All of them said there was no need for drain tile at all. Well US Waterproofing will not return my deposit, even though the deposit was for work that does not need to be done and was the wrong recommendation to begin with. Instead, I have 2 holes in the walls they created to check for drain tile that they never repaired. I have $7700 that they will not return.
