I told them I had my own lock after I put my things in there. I locked it with my own lock. Returned their lock then a hour later I get a call later saying that she cut my lock off because I put it on the wrong unit. How did I put it on the wrong unit when the unit has tags on it if there's no lock? Also, if I put it on the wrong unit that was another customer's, would've had another lock on there? +3 witnesses states I put my lock on the right unit and I have a video. so then my stuff was left without a lock until I got back to put another lock on there. I told her on the phone I was on my way with another lock when I got there the office door was locked stating they be back soon. I was literally in the car with my nephew on the phone with her coming right back . I am telling everybody about this incident and I won't be a customer long!

No water or cold/heat damage, no animals, etc. They do a pretty good job of keeping their facility secure and they're pretty nice, too. The prices are reasonable and have been stable my whole time using C&A. They're, without a doubt, the best storage option in the greater Wonder Lake-McHenry area. Trust me, I visited a number of places. C&A was the only one with competitive pricing, lockers that don't smell like the dead or cigarette smoke, and an office that doesn't offend every visual and olfactory sensibility common to humans. So why only give them four stars? They're so goo that, when I was looking for lockers, they had far fewer available than any of the competitors. They had two available when I was looking compared to eight at the place on the far end of Barnard and 12 at a place on 120 in McHenry. I forget the rest of the places I checked. In short, if you can get in here, do it. They're great for long-term storage and also have very good gate hours for people who need to get in and out of their locker on a regular basis.

The prices are much more reasonable compared to a lot of places north into Wisconsin and more south into Illinois. Eric was extremely helpful and made the process painless. He showed me everything from the bay doors (how to open and close, codes) to making sure the unit was locked securely. Then this crappy bunch bought out the old folks. I immediately call them to set up automatic payments. NOPE. I have to bring in precious Trust papers and a death certificate. Are they going to want to keep copies? These papers are none of their business. So I miss a few payments before Christmas. Then they slap you with a $25 late fee. So now I owe about $100. Now I made it through Christmas, I was going to pay the $100 I owed. NOPE. NOW I OWE $200. RIDICULOUS! Frankly an old customer like me gets a $20 break on the cost. I am sure Cube Smart is trying to push ALL the old customers out. I have talked to the onsite manager many times. KRISTY, who won't give her last name, doesn't seem to remember talking to me at all.
