Update: After my last experience, the Uchiba team reached out to me. Adam expressed genuine concern about what happened and made it clear that my experience was not representative of the standard they strive to provide. What I appreciated most was that he listened and acknowledged my concerns without trying to explain them away. As a customer, I felt heard and valued. Adam invited me back for the next Ramen Night, and this time I brought friends. We were seated in a booth and ordered the featured ramen, which happened to be a gumbo ramen. It wasn't quite my taste--there was a lot going on flavor-wise--but the service experience was completely different. The restaurant felt much less hectic, and the hospitality really stood out. Eric walked us through the menu, made excellent drink recommendations, and made sure our waters never went empty. We also had the ube dessert, which was unexpectedly delicious. Everyone at the table was scraping the plate clean. A special shoutout to Stephanie at the host stand, who also made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Another noticeable improvement: the kitchen packed our leftovers for us instead of having guests juggle large bowls of broth at the table. I've been coming here for years, and this used to be my absolute favorite happy hour spot when I worked downtown. The food is still good -- that hasn't changed, and I truly appreciate that. However, my most recent visit was disappointing. We received a text just a couple of hours before our reservation saying there was no longer happy hour, even though the website still listed it. If you're planning to go for happy hour, I highly recommend calling to confirm first. I was also surprised to see that about half of the menu has been cut. On top of that, the service didn't feel special like it used to. The warm, welcoming vibe was missing, and I barely saw our server throughout the meal. Because of that, we ended up not ordering any drinks. It honestly made me sad because this place has been one of my favorites for so long. Second visit and it absolutely delivered again. Overall, an excellent experience with some real standouts. The oysters and the hamachi crudo were the highlights of the night. Both were beautifully balanced, fresh, and memorable. Easily my favorite bites of the meal. The crispy duck, while flavorful, missed the mark for me. It was a bit difficult to eat and felt overwhelmed by sauce, which distracted from the duck itself. Service was solid throughout. Attentive and friendly without feeling intrusive. My only real knock on the experience was the seating. There was plenty of open space in the dining room, but we were seated uncomfortably close to another guest, which took away from the otherwise relaxed vibe. Dessert completely brought it home. The crispy bao with Thai tea semifreddo was incredible and a must-order. Creative, well executed, and a perfect way to end the meal. Still very much a place I'll keep coming back to. Stopped in for dinner on a business trip. I was seated at their wine bar. The staff was attentive and friendly. Food came out a little slowly and I think might have been delivered to other diners as the wine bar and the sushi bar apparently have the same table numbers. UchiBa is a must every single time I'm in Dallas. It's one of those places that never disappoints. The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, and the food is consistently fresh and incredibly flavorful. My go-to favorites are the Brussels sprouts and the uni nigiri. I went for a solo date and chose this place because of the vegan/vegetarian options which were plentiful! They had a separate menu just for those who are vegetarian/vegan which is amazing. I ordered the chef's choice and tofu tom yum. The chefs choice was incredibly yummy, I could have ordered just more of that and I would have loved it. My husband and I had an absolutely phenomenal time at Uchibã for my birthday dinner. The space is a dimly lit, casual and refined atmosphere, perfect for special occasion or date night. Onto the food, the best part. Our standouts definitely were these nigiri pieces: hirame, hamachi, akamutsu aburi-style. By the way, any of these you can get aburi-style which was definitely a game changer for us. All nigiri pieces were expertly curated with garnishes and seasonings that blended with the fish, something that really tied the food together. We prefer white fish and for our fish to lean on the softer side, cleaner side. The hot food & rolls were also delicious, with our standout being the soft shell crab maki with crispy and fragrant fried crab, although the sauce is a little strong so we didn't use much. The real winner tonight was our dessert, the famous fried milk is warm and milky, perfectly balancing with the dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The ube cheesecake was also equally if not more delicious, actually not that strong of a cheesecake taste (perfect for me because I don't care for cheesecake). I adored the blueberry sorbet that came with it - I would order just the sorbet if I could. Lastly, and most definitely not least, we wanted to thank our server Honey for being the sweetest, kindest person we could ask for. She gave us some birthday treats on the house, and was so helpful in giving us recommendations. If I wasn't really looking forward to trying Uchi, we would've opted to eat here since the menu does overlap a bit and they had seating readily available. I got a Lychee Martini which was semi-sweet, mild in flavor, and easy to drink. Despite it being in the name, the lychee was very subtle and could've been more highlighted either within the drink or even a lychee fruit garnish like many cocktail bars do. OMG! The experience at Uchiba reset my brain like crazy!! I made a reservation even though it was just me, I ended up sitting at the bar. My bartender was soooo nice, helpful and accommodating. It was my first time here so I was going off her recommendations. She suggested I try the wagyu skewers, let me tell you they were the best skewers I've ever had in my life!! I still dream about them. I had two rounds of them! My second favorite thing was the ice cream, I can't believe I was hesitant to even try it out. I can't wait to go back! Went to Uchiba for a birthday celebration. It's right above Uchi, and there's convenient valet parking right in front. Lalo was our waiter and he was great and great at giving recommendations. We started off with drinks: the Lychee Martini and the Sakura Samurai. They also had a separate vegan/vegetarian menu, which was super helpful. A great spot for happy hour sushi! This restaurant is located at a rooftop level, and it's casual yet elegant at the same time. There's outdoor patio and indoor seating, as well as complimentary valet parking shared with uchi (although we had to wait about 20 min to get the car around 7pm given the dinner rush hour). The food was fantastic! My favorite was the Brussel sprouts, which were seasoned so well! Other dishes I enjoyed were the milk dessert, mango tapioca, and salmon and tuna hand rolls. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly and offered great recommendations for our first visit. Started off with a lychee martini and then tried the subarashi. Both were great and very well balanced. We ended up ordering a bunch of nigiri and hot items but the highlights for me were the yellowtail, gyutoro dumplings, and wagyu beef skewers. Warning to vegetarians: I've been vegetarian for over six years--no exceptions, for ethical reasons. My friends and I chose this restaurant specifically because it advertises a separate vegetarian menu. I was given that menu, ordered directly from it while pointing to the items, and was seated right next to the waitress. I ordered two rolls. My rolls took significantly longer than my friends' rolls so I was starving and devoured the first. When the second came, I took one bite and immediately realized it had shrimp in it. Long story long-ish, both of my rolls were entered in from the regular menu. The vegetarian rolls and non-veggie rolls have the same names. To be frank, you have to be pretty stupid to not see the issue. This isn't a minor mistake. This is a fundamental failure in menu design, staff training, and basic respect for dietary restrictions. Vegetarians don't just "pick meat off." Some of us take this seriously, and this restaurant clearly does not. If you're vegetarian--or have any dietary restriction whatsoever--do not trust this place. They cannot keep their own menus straight, and they absolutely cannot be trusted with what they serve you. I left hungry, upset, and completely disgusted. read more

Why Uchi when you can Uchiba? Snagged an Uchiba resy a couple days prior to Friday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was thriving and had a swanky and intimate feel to it. Our server recommended that we order a couple items from each section for a variety of tastings. We did just that. Our items were brought out to us in a coursed manner and everything tasted really good. We had crudo, nigiri, scallops, and of course couldn't leave without getting the fried milk dessert. All the items were melt in your mouth delicious. The service was mediocre since our server was, at times, MIA but seemed like he had a lot on his plate. Our bill was upwards of $250 for the four of us (with no cocktails), and were still hungry when leaving. Nothing a quick taco stop couldn't fix post Uchiba. read more

Love coming to Uchiba when I'm in Dallas. Great happy hour spot with lots of affordable yakitori items and sushi. To be honest I'm mainly here for the drinks lol. $10 for the heavy in a barrel aged whiskey? hell yeah! Love the rooftop level because it's upscale yet a nice casual after work place. The meat skewers are $5-8! We got the pork belly, Tsukune, and wagyu. all really delicious but we had to order extra Tsukune because it was really good. We also tried the mini burger and katsu bun. the katsu bun has a really nice pickled cabbage flavor that complimented the fried katsu. The sake handroll was good too but nothing outstanding. The plantain chips are simple but soooo yum with a kick of spice. I thought the pork dumpling skins were too thick but the flavor was good. I would also say, at least on the night we came, the tuna was wayyy better than the salmon. This is coming from a girl who will always choose salmon over tuna any day. But the one thing that we got and actually ordered a second round and that you must try is the PORK BELL SKEWERRS! They're so good!! Not pictured is the negihama hand roll, which was actually kinda gross. Not too sure what aspect of it that I didn't like, but would not recommend that. We were also recommended the pork jowl. I didn't have the best experience with the omakase, but I truly appreciated how it was handled -- the manager listened and responded proactively to my feedback. On my most recent visit, Airielle provided amazing service. I've had many great experiences here, and the one time I didn't, it was addressed professionally -- which says a lot. Forgot to put in an order, had to flag her down to place another order, she took my empty cocktail glass mid dinner and didn't even ask if I would like another drink and walked away too soon for me to say something. We wanted to keep ordering but it was tricky to get her attention. After we realized we were forgotten, we asked the hostess for our server. We wanted dessert and cocktail but ended up getting tired of waiting and got our check. I usually go to Uchi and the service has always been 10/10 so this felt very strange and disappointing, especially for the $$. Food is always great but service will make or break an experience. If I'm being honest, I used to prefer dining at Uchi than Uchiba. Now, I love them equally. I love the vibe/ambiance at Uchiba. Their patio and bar feels more relaxed and it doesn't feel as formal as Uchi. I love sitting at the bar and being taken care of by the great bartenders: Hunter, Francis & our old fav Rick (who's no longer at this location!) Hunter is your go-to person for good drinks. His drinks are magical and dangerous, I could drink 4 of his blueberry pie cocktail and still want more. And i always say to anyone who I have convinced to try the drink: it tastes JUST like a blueberry pie! I love that he explores different flavor profiles and really get creative with his drinks. His pandan cocktail is a hit too. While they don't offer as many raw piece options as downstairs, a lot of their hot items are sooo tasty! If it were up to me, I'd eat 3 orders of the kinoko dumpling by myself. Kind of punching the air right now because I completely forgot to order the crispy tofu even tho I get it every. single. time. and I won't get to eat it again for awhile.
