My favorite was the pork larb because it had such a good balance of savory pork, fresh herbs, lime, and crunchy vegetables. Also, the restaurant is inside/uses a wedding venue space, so don't be surprised by the setup. But overall, good experience, will definitely come back and try more dishes. read more

3/29/2025 This will be my first time dining here in the AM. I've had in the past only dined in the evenings or special occasional events held here. The restaurant interior seems to be under construction/ renovation. Elated to see they updated their menu with some written descriptions and photos of the each food items. This really helps with deciding factors for some customers who might not be familiar with Cambodian food. Service provided by a young gentleman was great , He was friendly , attentive and apologetic . What a disappointment uuggghhh!!!!! Cha qua ( fry breads/ fry donuts) At first glance myself and my mom already knew the Cha qua was not cooked properly , it has some weight to it, ( should be light and fluffy) the dough was raw inside. I sent it back. The waiter was apologetic and a few minutes later came out with a new batch of Cha qua . I kid you not, I just chuckled and shook my head . I explained to the waiter, clearly the cha qua is not cooked properly, has a strong odor smell of yeast and the flour is not cooked through and as an experienced home cooks between my mom & myself the dough did not have time to rise and the flour ratio was not properly measured. The young waiter apologized once more and came back from the kitchen explaining what my mom and I had speculated . We asked that he not charge us for the cha qua. So , I didn't think this could get any worse right? LOL!! Cha mee khatang ( similar to chow fun / pad see ew ) I opted for seafood as protein of choice, with shrimps, imitation crabs & squids . The Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly. Except this dish didn't have much flavor. I rate it 2/5 BBQ roasted duck $25 for a half order. I been anticipating to try their duck for a few years now. To my dismay it was awful , damn! I expected so much more and it didn't meet my expectations. The skin was not crispy, had a funky gamy scent & tasteless flavor and came out cold at that. Rate 2/5 Baw Baw Kreung ( Cambodian innards / pork blood rice porridge. ) Deep sighs ... another disappointment dish . The rice porridge lacks savory taste, it was a tad under salt , by adding the fermented soybeans helps uplift the flavor. I find it gross! the minuscule fragments innards pieces has a bowel odor taste in our mouths. 1/5 Boat Noodle soup , was okay but needed some improvement. The noodles were too overcooked , texture was mushy, the flavor didn't have the savory beefy aroma, appreciate the fresh ong choy vegetables Rate3/5 Beef Stew w/ bread , crunchy crispy hot bread always hit the spot, dunk in hot beefy stew warms the heart. Unfortunately this dish stop short of a perfect meal. Although the meat was tender , the broth lacks the familiarity aroma of spices and lemongrass scent associated with this dish.. Very funky party scene with traditional Cambodian food and music! This place was filled on a Saturday night and loud upbeat music filled the restaurant. I was in the area and craving Lao Style Papaya Salad - Bok L'Hong. They make one of the best. Love the combo of the papaya, string beans, tomatoes. Fresh herbs, crisp, crunchy, salty umami flavor. Best to eat mix with the shredded cabbage and herbs to neutralize the saltiness. I wish they added more salty crabs. I also ordered the Beef Sticks Lunch Special served with rice and pickled carrots and papaya. It comes with a bowl of a tasty clear, beef brothThe beef is marinated, sweet and salty spices. I ordered the beef noodle stew, I had a craving and Udom hit the spot. Soup and noodles are delicious, soothing, & perfectly balanced flavors. One of the only locations in the area with beef noodle stew on the menu, comes w baguette or ja kwai bread. This place more spacious, clean and the food is still great. The food is less salty and greasy than hak haeng. I've brought their food home to people who've never had Cambodian food and they've enjoyed it. As someone very familiar with Cambodian food I appreciate the little things that add to the authenticity like the quality and variety of fresh mints, the small lotus roots, the banana blossoms, etc. highly recommend for any foodie. read more

Good service, but the food was not as good. They served us old yellow rice and that was already a bad start. Nothing will taste good if you eat it with rice that sat in the warmer for too long. Old rice gives off a certain type of odor. The machu kreung soup at that point was just okay. The meat was a bit chewy and tough. The intestines were so tough and tasted old (as can see in pic), but we were hungry and we didn't want to waste food so we finished it. Definitely not worth my visit and my money. Since I was in the area waiting for my friend to get off, I had to snag the chance to finally try which is why I ordered a feast for myself. I've always wanted to try prahok ktiss and I wasn't sure how to eat it, so I asked the waitress. She was super helpful and let me know which condiments taste best with my chosen food and recommended eating the prahok ktiss with rice (and she was right tasted so good with it). Large selection of Cambodian cuisine in a large, spacious, ballroom, right in the middle of Cambodia Town in Long Beach. Probably better to go when busy so the quality/quantity of food is at peak. Came a bit after opening at 10;15 on a Sunday. It is located in a strip mall with a lot of parking spots, but it was full mainly because of the neighboring grocery store. Got greeted right away, and was seated at a table for 4 near the window (you could definitely feel the sun but it felt good, at least at the beginning). It's a colorful menu, with pictures for all the dishes (though neither of my dishes really matched the pictures). I really wish I had come with a group so I could have sampled various things: really wanted to try the Samlor Machu Kroeung (recommended by la_taco), but was afraid that I would be stuck with something I couldn't finish, and I was politely denied a chance to figure out what it might taste like. So went with the Cambodian stalwarts: egg rolls and phnom penh noodles. Both were below average compared to other Cambodian places in Long Beach. The egg rolls ($9.95), five but were of the mini variety (which I didn't expect). They had been freshly fried, and came with 5 small inner leaves of romaine lettuce (which matched the size actually). I was surprised at the size (especially when the 4 spring rolls on the same menu are cheaper but definitely larger). Was planning on eating one, and bringing the rest home, but ended up eating all of them. I also wish for that price, they had done a better job of adding more herbs or even just bigger lettuce leaves. The Phnom Penh Noodles ($12.95) had all the ingredients described, but in small quantities (one or two of each). The broth was pork based, very oily but temperature hot and flavorful. It came with fresh bean sprouts on the side. But in terms of the meat, there just wasn't that much things to go with. I was still hungry and shouldn't have been (not for that price). The server asked if I wanted donuts, which I agreed. The Cha-Quai ($2.50) was good, not too greasy, not too sweet...but I can't say I really understand the deal with always having it with noodle soup. Service was good, and I was checked on multiple times. The check came when asked for, and the receipt was digital, with a suggested tip amount of 15% (which appears at first glance that it was auto added, but then if you add up the total, it was not). It's a great space, though, and can understand how it can be a popular place for the Cambodian community for parties and events. It truly is a banquet hall, that could host a large band along with a full size dance floor (along with table seating to the sides). read more

Always drove by this place and didn't try it until last week. My gf and I both broke up with our bf's and were feeling down and she wasn't feeling well so I ordered, picked up and ate at her place. Wow! The food was so yummy! My friend liked their rice porridge with chicken and shrimp, I got egg rolls & their papaya salad as well as a pork and rice dish... I forgot what it was called but it was all so yummy! Will definitely come back! Also, I didn't know they had Karaoke Friday nights! Woohoo! I've been here 3x because it's a bit of a drive from San Diego, but every time we're in the area, we have to grab either lunch or dinner here and I love it -- the food, the live music, the hospitality. Everything is 10/10 and very reminiscent of my childhood. Food: - Cha Kreung or the lemongrass chicken stir fry is amazing! The flavors are fresh and savory and even my almost 2 years old niece loves it. - The beef skewers were really juicy, flavorful, and tender and I always have to get it when I come. - Mango salad, a must lol. (The only photo I have of my food because I was hungry lol) Live music: I love it personally, but yes it can get a little loud. But honestly, it's part of the experience. Also the singers are really nice and welcoming and will do rounds in between songs to greet you, introduce themselves, and just make you feel welcomed. Hospitality: I'm not sure if he's the owner, or a worker, but the main guy taking orders and managing the place is really nice as well. He's always happy and makes you feel like you're family. As a Khmer, brought up in Phnom Penh, I can vouch for Udom and their authentic-ness here in the States. I do wish they had amok, but it is what it is! I used to frequent their other restaurant, Monorom, before they switched to the new location. They have a tonne of affordable lunch specials too, during the workweek. The dishes I've tried so far has been pretty good! The Phnom Penh noodle soup is a classic and highly recommended, along with the beef stew, beef skewers, papaya salad (bak lahong), and my personal favourite, cha quai (fried Chinese doughnut) with condensed milk. I usually get the morning glory, chicken or beef stew with baguette, and prahok (fermented fish). The restaurant itself is rather spacious and, of course, extremely clean, and the customer service is what I'm used to (good); it's a family-run restaurant after all. The menu itself is pretty extensive, with a mix of Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes - which is normal since that's what's influenced Khmer food. They even have live music on weekends. They're in a shopping complex with a Khmer grocery store in that block, but parking is never a problem. read more

I've been to this spot a few times now and I keep going back! It just reminds me of home and my trip to Cambodia a couple of years back. Pros: - the restaurant is pretty spacious and very clean. That's probably my favorite part. - the dishes I've tried so far has been pretty good! The Phnom Penh noodle soup is a classic and highly recommended. The Beef Stew was flavorful. The papaya salad is absolutely refreshing! Lastly, they make Cha Quai (basically a Chinese donut) and it's my favorite here! This pairs well with the noodle soup dishes. - customer service is pretty good. They always stop by with a smile on their face. There just 1 person (male) who wasn't as helpful, otherwise, everyone else is really friendly. - menu is pretty extensive. I try to stick to the Cambodian dishes vs the Chinese or Thai dishes here. - prices are reasonable. It's not a large quantity, but average of $10 per dish. Cons: - live music on Sundays. While I love live music, it was just absolutely too loud! It was so hard to eat and enjoy our meal. Our waiter tried to take my order from across the table when they were performing, I knew that wasn't going to work and I was a bit annoyed that he thought he could. Otherwise, they sang really well. We were visiting Long Beach for the day and looking for an interesting place to eat. We knew they had a Little Cambodia so we found this place. It looks like a banquet hall on the inside and you could tell they host events. The owner told us they have music on the weekends. I had some beef on skewers that was very tasty. It was slightly sweet and carmelized. My husband had a ground pork dish. The ingredients sounded weird but it was tasty. It came with crunchey vegetables you could dip into. We also had rice, for the entrees, and dumplings which were like small empanadas with a dipping sauce. We got a bag of baked goods to munch in before our meal. Boat Thai Noodles- this soup dish was good. I like the cook on the noodles and the broth had a good taste to it. Beef skewers-these were super yummy. I don't know what sauce or spice was use but I just knew I wanted more. Papaya Salad-we order medium spice and that was the right amount. I like the presentation on this dish and the papaya was good. Vietnamese sweet and sour soup-very good! I love the flavors and the soup was filled with a good amount of fish, pineapple, tomatoes, lotus root, and holy basil. This place on the outside looks kind of sketch. However, the inside looks better. It seems like they hold parties. They have a big space and plentiful seating. The price for the food is pretty reasonable. I like their beef skewers, around $15. Their noodles range around $10-12. I got the pad Thai with chicken and Phnom Penh noodles. Phnom Penh was good. Five stars for the eggplant alone! Best eggplant dish I have ever had and that includes Star Burmese in San Francisco- sorry my Burmese friends! Huge room lots of space to spread out and be comfortable with your family or friends, watch the cute French Cambodian toddler run around and around and around .... I initially setup a business page for them when I realized its no longer Dara restaurant (previous restaurant.) so I thought what better way to promote a new business other than helping people be able to search for it. I honestly hate giving bad reviews but I could not would good conscience not leave a review. I came to buy their white chicken that they sell for 4.99lb if you purchase the whole chicken or 5.49lb for half the chicken. And I also bought a whole duck. So I ended up spending over $42 over the food. Which I didn't mind as I wasn't going to eat this all to myself, but make a lunch plate for my sister and drop it off at her work. And bring some over to the temple to give to the monks. After splitting the food and delivering all the food to where I was taking it. It wasn't until I got back home to eat myself, that going through the chicken; I found a dead worm. To be honest, I wasn't going to let me stop from eating it until I saw even more when I pulled out the first one. There were multiple. I had to call my sister to not eat the food and told my mother in law to get the food back from the temple before the monks eat it. I then had my hubby take back the food to get our money back and initially they refused. They weren't threatened by him telling them that he was going to call the health department. Instead they responded with "all they're going to do is shut us down for a few days and then we open back up." But eventually they gave him the money back. Stating they didn't want to lose a customer. I hope whatever they are doing to their food, to double check it and clean properly. I'm honestly disgusted and I didn't imagine I would find something like this after the place looks great after the remodeling. read more

What a great place! After I Googled "Things to Do in Long Beach", Anaheim Street popped up for its Cambodian restaurants. With the help of trusty Yelp, we landed at Udom Khmer and boy, were our expectations perfectly met! Newly opened this year, it's a mix of Cambodian, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine and I'm totally in love with the venue. It feels super local and what you would expect in ambiance with part spacious ballroom, part to go food, part casual dining! The best part? There are even karaoke singers with a big screen showing the most recent Lakers game :) The food was perfect, holler for the duck! I haven't had khmer food in so long and I drive 2 hours here to eat! I just saw that it had decent reviews and so I chose to come here. When I went, it was on a day where they had a live band. Music was too loud and everyone looked depressed. The food: very overpriced and uses old food. I ordered a salad and it's 2$ for each meat add on. The Chinese donut was cold and hard as a rock. I had to ask them to reheat. The menu looked like Chinese/viet food to me. I also got a whole duck and it had 0 flavor. The fatty pork was good however. They ran out of chardonnay and other things that I wanted but maybe there is a food shortage other restaurants may be in the same pickle. Haha. I love a good hot pot, so upon searching on yelp and I ran across this Lil Gem. The truth is I had a slight head cold and allergies and I wanted to knock this out real quick before it turned into anything else. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner I presume she was very welcoming. I then asked did she serve any soups with lemon grass. The answer was yes and the price was just right $18.00. And also ordered a small side dish of beef I believe it came with sweet chili sauce and rice with a small side salad. Now back to my soup. My soup was delivered to the table in the cutest hot pot full of veggies, chicken and pork. Yasssss Lord the soup was layered with an abundance of flavors and I topped it off with the chili oil and Hot green tea. My head cold was then sliding out from the chili's and upon arrival to my home it was clear. That soup was just like the popular medicine ball featured at Starbucks. Amazing Khmer / Cambodian food. Highly recommended. They are very helpful and friendly.

In SoCal, the best ethnic food is usually located in a strip mall - Udom Khmer is no different. Come here to get really good, affordable, legit Cambodian food. Lots of lunch specials too. Came here late afternoon/early evening on a weekday, and my group basically had the whole place to ourselves. Big place, with a stage probably for events/weddings. We got the Phnom Penh noodle and lemongrass chicken which was the perfect amount of food for 3. Great depth of flavors and quality of food prepped in both dishes. In the Phnom Penh noodle, the soup was clear and rich, yet light, with a generous amount of add-ins. The lemongrass chicken could've had more chicken to go with the vegetables in the dish, but was tasty and a flavor explosion nonetheless. Will be back soon!
