It's a thing now that I have to make a stop here for Thai food. Long Beach has loads of places but this one takes the cake for me. There's a few nearby which fiends have referred and raved about, but this one left a lasting impression. I love me some boat noodles and they do not disappoint. The nice thick broth with loads of meats all mixed in together. Then you have the Chinese broccoli for the perfect veggie paring. Wow, it so good. Some places cannot get their broth right which does make a major difference. Sometimes it ends up being too watery and defected the purpose. Here, the broth is perfect. Also any of their curries is excellent. This time we went with the massaman curries. Nice thick broth with peanuts, potatoes, onion and carrots in a coconut sauce. Another flavorful dish. And of course we always get the papaya salad Thai style with shrimp and peanut. There also the Laos style with fermented fish sauce and salty crab. It's quite nice too but it could be too strong of a taste for some people. The food has always been excellent. Service was always excellent with friendly staff. Went to Charm Siam with a group of friends and tried a ton of dishes. Thai sausage, pork belly, soft shell crab appetizers, seafood salad, yen ta fo soup, boat noodles, and crispy pork gra pow. Overall, really good. The portions were very generous, especially with the amount of meat and seafood they give you, and everything was very reasonably priced. The standout for me was definitely the pork belly. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while still tender and juicy inside. The boat noodles were also excellent and tasted very authentic. Definitely one of the better versions I've had locally. Only minor critique was the seafood salad. The dressing leaned a little sweeter than we expected and could've used a bit more sourness/tanginess to balance it out. We got the papaya salad (Lao style) and boat noodle soup. This was one of the best boat noodles soups I've had! I love that they include tendon and a massive piece of tripe, and they're generous with the meat portion overall too. I had to give some of the meat to my boyfriend since there was a lot of it, but no complaints here. The soup was well balanced. It had a slight sweetness to it and the spice level was perfect. I got level 8 and it definitely had a kick, but it didn't overpower the dish. The papaya salad was great and reasonably priced compared to other places I've been to. The servers were very friendly. Yelp suggested this hole in a wall place on Broadway 15 minutes away, and boy, we're so glad we tried it. This was probably the most authentic Thai food I've had in my life. Their thai tea is probably the best I've had (I ordered a small the first time and a large the second time because it was so good). Their steamed gyozas are so good and have a bit of a crunchy garnish on top. Their egg rolls were also good and not too oily. I also ordered the crying tiger (marinated beef) to eat with their pad see ew. The crying tiger was good but it's basically a la carte meat so I'd recommend getting a rice or noodle dish to eat it with. Parking is street/around the neighborhood area. My first Uber Eats order bcz I am on a mission to try mango sticky rice dessert from as many places in LBC as possible. It's Saturday , my laundry and order delivery food day. I ordered 2 mango sticky rice, fried tofu, papaya salad Lao style, a crying tiger, a dry egg noodle with char siu pork, a chicken with sticky rice. Packaging was good but the papaya salad was dripping out liquid and it was a big job to clean it up bcz the smell was funky. I like funky but not on my furniture. THe papaya was shredded thicker and it was good but had no roasted peanuts which is one my my favorite to have in this salad. The egg noodle with char siu had good flavor but the noodle was so over cooked and mushy texture. Fried tofu was good but it's good from most places. Crying tiger beef was not grilled and didn't have the brown crust or medium rare texture. It was well done and chewy. The chicken and sticky rice was different than in Thailand and at any place I've had it before and not in a good way. I looked nothing like the photo in the menu. My rice was already hard and tough to eat while the chicken was dry and some pieces had seasoning and others didn't. It's a total miss for me. I am happy to report I am glad I got 2 mango sticky rice because it was delicious and lots of mango sliced nice and thick. THey gave a good amount of coconut sauce and it was not too sweet. It's mango season so I am indulging when it's good and fresh. I've heard good things about this restaurant but my first trial was not so great. There are so many great Thai restaurants in LBC so it is tough competition. I will give it one more try bcz I will reorder the mango sticky rice. read more

They do a good job of balancing the sweetness with the savoryness of the basil. If you're a big fan of basil, you're going to love this.
