Who is cooking the lemon grass chicken ?!!! I got their lemon grass chicken comes with rice and veggies. 10/10 for me, chicken had flavor, veggies were celery, green bell peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, -- with a side of sweet and sour sauce??? But it was spicy??? --- definitely delicious. I love it ! If you can't eat spicy I don't recommend the sauce but overall the lemongrass chicken and the sauce goes well together !! It's so good. This place is soo goood!!! This was my first time dining at a Cambodian establishment and I was blown away. We even ordered the wrong curry dish by mistake and were still impressed by how it tasted! The larbb salad was delicious, I've only had larb salads that used minced pork so finding out they actually finely chopped beef was kinda impressive, making it meaty with a great balance of veggies. Actually each dish was seasoned perfectly. Their satay is fragrant but spicyyyyyy, they don't play bout their spice. My favorite thing was the chitterlings, it would smack so hard with a beer, hoping that their alcohol license gets approved soon! The service was good too. Parking was easy to find. What an incredible Cambodian restaurant here in Long Beach. I felt like I was transported to Cambodia through not just the food, but also the ambiance and the obvious community of regulars also enjoying their meal there. I came here on a weekend night, and it was packed, but with minimal wait. Ever since I visited Cambodia, I have been craving the Cambodian-style fried calamari, so I made sure to get that as a starter. The calamari was perfectly fried with its light batter, and then the fish oil and salt/pepper seasonings were spot on. I also got their Boat Noodle, and that hit the spot. It was spicy and refreshing, and all the meats were so tender. The noodles were the right texture too. I am so hoping to visit more to try even more of their menu--definitely give Monorom a visit if you are in the area! read more

Chill Cambodian restaurant with awesome beef skewers. Went for a weekday lunch. Plenty of parking in the strip mall parking lot. Was fairly busy but was able to get seats right away. There's a good set of lunch specials and opted for the beef bbq skewers. It comes with some pickled veggies, rice, and a side of bone broth. Everything was delicious - beef was well made and flavorful. Enjoyed it with some chili sauce. The broth was a nice addition - more of a mellow goodness vs the pop from the skewers and chili sauce. Stopped in 40 minutes to closing on Saturday evening. Right away we were greeted with a welcoming smile by one of the employee. Interior design is adorned with Cambodian artifacts and traditional Khmer checkered table cloth . Midway eating our food , I noticed a few employees ended their shifts for the night . Kind owner stops by notifying us to not rush, he will stick around to clean and to take our time to eat and to yell for him should we need anything. Highly recommend the mango salad , crisp , sweet , tangy a nice crunch with roasted peanuts and fried pork skins . Kuy Teav Phnom Penh is one of Cambodian popular noodle soup. The stock is made with pork broth with a hint of umami , light in color that packs a punch of flavors , with shrimps, pork slices , minced pork and innards. Be sure to ask for steamed beansprouts to add in the soup bowl. Another one of my favorite is the babaw saht chrouk ( pork rice porridge) with a mixture of assorted meats , pork blood cubes . Really hit the spot during this cold evening . Make sure to order a side of cha quay ( Cambodian fried bread) to dip in the soup. read more

Great Cambodian restaurant in Long Beach! The food here was authentic and comforting. I visited here with a friend for a Saturday dinner and the restaurant wasn't too busy. My friend and I shared a variety of dishes: -Student Noodle: If chow mein and pad thai had a baby, this would be that dish. Without the fish sauce, the noodles tasted like chow mein. This dish overall was good! While I would still opt for pad thai, the noodle texture was good and I enjoyed the flavors. We got this with crispy pork and it was tasty, but I wish it was crispier. I liked how it wasn't too fatty. -Fish Amok: It did not look like the picture, but the dish was still good. It was a sweet fish curry which was sweet from the coconut milk. This was tasty and the fish was soft. It wasn't fishy at all. This paired well with the rice. I would still opt for a savory curry though. -Beef Skewers: These were yummy and I enjoyed the charred flavor of these! The flavor was very similar to Filipino skewers. I liked how even the fatty parts were enjoyable. Steamed Rice: Fluffy and not mushy which I liked. It came served in this cute rice bucket which preserved the heat of it. The restaurant was decorated nicely and was pretty clean. Bathrooms available which were also clean. The service was good and attentive. There's lots of free parking in the lot in front. 1st time ordering bc I was wanting something different. I ordered to go. I ordered the sweet & sour Vietnamese soup (cahn chua), water spinach stir fry and student noodles. I LOVE the Cahn chua. The sweet & sour flavors were balanced. I did not add protein so it was vegetarian. The student noodles were good. They were just enough to go with my meal. Last but not least, their water spinach stirfry, which is called Ong Choy in chinese. The garlic and spicy peppers were a nice kick. The veggie was full of robust garlic flavor and tender. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, parking was limited and so I parked on the street. it was lunch time when I arrived and no tables were available. It is a hole in a wall place, but clean and inviting. My food was waiting when I arrived and the workers were super nice and attentive. I will be back to try this place again! read more

The food is really good, and the menu has pictures which are it easy to pick out what you want to try. Although the owner said he would help us pick out the best dishes he offers next time. Monorom Cambodia is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was great--friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The food was amazing across the board. I don't remember all the names of the dishes (wish I would've written them down!), but honestly everything we ordered was delicious. The rice alone stood out--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and comforting, the kind that keeps you coming back for more. To top it off, the peach tea was excellent, refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, great food, great service, and a spot I'd absolutely recommend if you're looking to try authentic Cambodian cuisine. I haven't been to this establishment in over 10 years (maybe 15). The interior was clean. The service was nice and friendly. However, the food was pretty underwhelming and lacked flavor. Porridge - 6/10 It was okay. Beef Lemongrass with Rice - 5/10 Not enough "kroeung" (spice paste made with lemongrass, galangal, etc). Pork Chitterlings with Rice - 5/10 Overcooked chitterlings. Beef Skewers - 5/10 Chewy and lacked a lot of flavor. The marinate was completely off. Overall, I would say the food was not crafted for my flavor palette. read more

We have been to this place years ago and though sp we thought of giving it a try last night. I think it was a big mistake picking up food 30mins before closing. We ordered phnom penh noodle and crispy pork. The noodle broth was too salty to the point that my wife threw away the broth and just ate the noodles which defeats the purpose since the broth is a key ingredient. The crispy pork was not that crispy and looks not fresh. The marinated carrots and cabbage was chewy and looks old. Im expecting alot grant this place has 4+ stars and 700+ reviews but there is nothing memorable from this experience other than stay away from this place. I found this place on Yelp and was excited to try their beef stick based on other reviews. I took note that the location was sketch (that was definitely an understatement) but I was still down to go by myself to try it. I called in the order and it was ready quickly. The service was friendly and the restaurant literally smells of delicious food, super homey. The papaya salad was the only edible thing and it was average. The rice was severely dry and the meat stick was inedible- like chewing on a hard pink eraser with no flavor. I was actually confused, it look like it was marinated for a long time and looked so flavorful but it was so bad. The parking lot was more than sketch. There are large groups of people sitting in their busted cars and standing around the parking lot just watching people park. I didn't think anything of it until when I was walking out from the restaurant, I saw them checking peoples doors to see if they were locked! I parked at the opposite end of the lot and this grown man blocked me in and refused to move even after asking him nicely- he threw a man-child tantrum and said he was security for the lot and didn't need to move. If he was security, why block me in and not let others pass? Luckily I was able to finagle my way out of that mess. Perhaps it was an off day but that combined with the parking lot is enough for me to never come back. Went on Sunday around 2:45pm. All tables were full but one woman had her food packed ready to go. The most disappointing part about this restaurant was their service. Even though they saw my friend and I waiting, they weren't in a rush to get the table ready for us. They also didn't come to take our orders quickly and the food itself actually did take awhile. They originally gave us the wrong receipt when it came time to pay also. The people that served us weren't very friendly, kind or helpful The food itself was also underwhelming. I had heard the pin noodles were great so I tried them. The portion size is good and it's an average Asian noodle dish but it's nothing great. I actually felt it lacked some flavor. On the menu, it says it comes with a choice of meat, but it wasn't until the bill came out that I saw ordering the tofu was an extra $2.95 charge. The tofu was good though. The noodles are fresh and chewy. The vegetables are fresh as well. Don't plan on coming back but at least I got to try. read more

The food is absolutely amazing here. I make the detour out because it's legit Cambodian food. My favorite dish is the Phnom Penh Noodle. It comes with a huge marrow bone. The spices and onions make the dish so flavorful. I also got the XO fried rice and was able to get extra veggies (bok choy). The rice had a good seafood flavor from the XO and it wasn't too salty. There's a nice sauce that comes with the rice that adds a little extra something. The staff is so patient, especially when I'm asking questions trying to decide what to order. The restaurant is cozy so it can get pretty tight if you have a big party. There's parking but it's in a smaller lot in a strip mall. Can feel slightly dicey at night though. read more

Another visit and was not disappointed again. This spot is legit authentic Khmer food. The husband and wife duo - amazing when it comes to service. The restaurant is clean and when you walk in you're greeted with a smile and can sit in any available spot. This is my favorite Phnom Penh Noodles (dry) my absolute favorite. Being half Cambodian, it was truly a treat to find a meal that tasted like the motherland/home cooking, and Monorom went above and beyond to deliver! Even my parents, who prefer cooking at home vs. going out to eat, raved about it and that's when you know a place is good. From the moment I walked in, there are smells of fragrant lemongrass, toasted rice, and bubbling stews. We ordered Sach Ko Ang (grilled beef skewers) for the table and I had the Khmer BBQ Pork as my entree. Everything was perfectly marinated and charred and the portions were generous. My parents enjoyed the food so much that they ordered additional beef skewers to go. What really impressed me was the consistency and care in each dish. It's clear that this is a family-run restaurant where the recipes come from generations of love and tradition. The staff was friendly throughout our dining experience. Had to wait over 2 hours for a table of 7 people and after waiting the table that was getting ready for us was still dirty so had to wait about another 15 mins. Excellent food and service. I don't claim to know what authentic Cambodian food should taste like but I do know I love the food served at this restaurant. The beef skewer and BBQ pork are a must and so is its signature rice noodle soup, Phnom Penh. I've tried several dishes here and loved them all except the lemongrass soup, which is just too sour for my liking. Think Tom Yum but twice as sour and that's the Cambodian lemon grass soup.
