I had a Keratin hair treatment done at The Salon here with Brendan F. He was excellent and my hair turned out great! He is very experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. A treatment like this can take 3 or more hours, but he respected my time (so please also respect theirs) and was focused on the (many) steps the entire time. At times it is difficult to find an appointment for long treatments like this, so I am glad I planned well in advance of my vacation and could go on a weekday when it is not too busy. The Salon and store is very clean, hand sanitizer is readily available, and everyone is masked even while getting your hair done, so I felt safe. Bring something to read if you have a long treatment because they cannot provide you with magazines, etc. during covid restrictions. I never post reviews but good service deserves recognition. So so soooooo thankful to have found Kevin!!! Somehow some way my 19 year old daughter found him fist actually. She is super picky about her hair and was very happy and impressed with her color correction, cut and style with him so I thought what the heck and gave him a shot too. I have pesky silvers that are very hard to cover so its been hard to be satisfied with color. Last night was my second appointment with him and I am just as happy this time around as I was the first. I was most looking forward to the wash and conditioning portion, and he did not disappoint! Really want to go into detail about how good he is but it probably would sound like something other than what it was! LOL! My trim and blow out left me feeling like a Goddess! I come here a lot, never had a bad experience, and all of the gals are sweethearts, but I have to say DeJenay is the best! I went into Ulta for my birthday to spoil myself and she was awesome, she absolutely knew her stuff (she specializes in Clinique), she had great recommendations for my pale face, and she was so patient- she took the time to teach me how to apply the different products rather than just selling them to me. I like to shop at Ulta beauty for my makeup needs. Good selection of colors for lip stick and gloss. I buy all my lip sticks here and eye makeup. Prices are very reasonable. They have everything you need for your beauty needs. I went to TJ Maxx which is at the other end of the mall. They have a limited supply of makeup but their prices are really inexpensive. I would suggest going here first since you might find something. Then go to ulta beauty second. Ross is next to TJ Maxx but they don't have a lot of beauty items. read more

I've been to this store half a dozen times only out of convenience - it's right around the corner from my house. The service is nonexistent. I've spent plenty of time wandering the makeup aisles looking for a a foundation or coverup and, given that I don't have much experience with makeup, would have appreciated if somebody helped me. Never again. I've been a customer here for years, spent thousands of dollars at this location. Today I made my purchase and when I left, a sensor set off the alarm at the door. I stopped and started to head back to the cashier who waved at me and said "it's ok, go ahead". I'm in my car getting ready to back out when I hear a knock on my window, it's store security flashing his badge at me. I rolled down the window to ask if he wanted to see my bag. He tells me to step out the car, like he's the police. I do and attempt to hand him my bag, he turns and says that we need to go back into the store. I turn off my car, gather my purse and head back in. With no apologies the clerk goes through my bag and compares each item to the receipt. The entire time I'm being treated like I've stolen something, not like it was at all possible that they made a mistake. Once everything checks out, she hands me my bag back and explains that since she wasn't there when I walked out the door, she couldn't comment on why I was allowed to leave. The employees at this store are young and don't have the customer service skills necessary to be managing a store. I told her and mr. a tough guy security that they may want to re-examine their approach, because it was rude and disrespectful. All I got was an apology that the sensor was not disarmed, not for my inconvenience or for being made to feel like a criminal rather than a regarded customer. I was helped by an amazing employee, I don't remember her name. But, as I was looking for a pink tone lipstick the security guard kept following me and keeping an eye on me as if I was stealing. There was plenty of more customers in the store but because I am a young Latina, I was the target. I felt discriminated and couldn't enjoy looking around peacefully. Not sure why they don't get better reviews. I've found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and the store has a great selection. If you go on a weekend it may be busy and you can't have your hand held, but be patient and someone can and will help you. Brendan in the salon is very knowledgeable and gives a great haircut, and Adriana at the Benefit Brow Bar does fantastic brows. So nice to have good quality so close to me. Thanks guys! read more

Word of advice: if you're looking for help to find some new beauty product, skip this place and just go to Sephora or even another Ulta location. This place has horrible customer service. Walked in on a Tuesday afternoon to pick out some new lipstick and it took nearly 15 minutes to find an associate to help me out. There was maybe 5 or so customers In the store - not busy at all. i went in specifically to get a SULFATE-FREE shampoo. the girl who helped me recommended the matrix biolage color last line. she said it didn't have to state on the bottle "sulfate-free" that it would still be good. i had just gotten my hair done a few days earlier and my hair stylist said sulfate would strip the toner out of my hair. as soon as i washed my hair i immediately noticed how much the color had faded. the shampoo did in fact have SULFATE! i went in the next day to return the product and complain to the manager about the lack of knowledge from the employee. if someone wants a sulfate-free shampoo don't sell them a shampoo with sulfate that's going to ruin the color. the manager Amber apologized, gave me a refund and a "goodie bag" filled with useless samples which included a lip gloss from it cosmetics. i tried on the lip gloss but didn't like the color (fine, whatever)... HOWEVER this morning i woke up with bumps on my lip!!! i don't know why ulta is trying to ruin my life. they have wasted my time and money. now it looks like a have a cold sore/ herpes on my mouth and i have to go get my hair fixed since the shampoo they recommended ruined the treatment which i didn't even have for 3 days. total waste of my time and money. read more

I love this Ulta location they have the most friendliest staff! Every time I go to this location I have a good experience. I went into this location to do a return on a product that I bought for my face. The manager who helped me refunded me full amount even after i had used the product half way. The product was messing up my face and she was very understanding and did not give me a hard time at all with the return. I would def recommend this location. read more

I wanted to update my original review because I feel like they've improved a ton! The only big issue that I still have is I feel like they are always sold out of items. Like completely empty shelves in certain areas. I feel like the more popular items, or high end brands should have a little extra backup for customers. I don't work here, so I don't know if its a manufacturing thing, or just someone who is supposed to be ordering inventory. The staff is pretty friendly and super helpful. Today when I went in I had about three different girls help me, and I love everything I bought! So, I came in with my mother- and sister-in-law, and we went a little crazy. We picked out about $400 worth of products, but I had a 20% off coupon and a bunch of rewards points I could use. When it came to redeeming my points, they told me I only had $3 worth that I could use--that couldn't have been the case! I knew I had about 1500 points that were just waiting for me ($62 worth of points!). The cashier was able to check the system, and it appeared that someone used my account to redeem my points five days prior in a North Carolina store--what?!? The cashier called out the general manager, Jacquie, who was absolutely amazing. She called the corporate offices and tried to find out what happened. Their policy is to ask for ID whenever a customer redeems more than 1000 points at a time. So, obviously, something happened at the North Carolina store for someone else to use my points. She said come Monday she is going to look into what happened in more detail. Jacquie seemed to really care about my customer service, and was very concerned with the possibility of fraud on my behalf. The corporate office was able to rebuild my account and give me the points back (wow, that was amazing!!). It was really amazing, because my $400 purchase (omg.... who spends that much money in one trip on makeup/skincare?!?!?) was brought down to "only" $250 after using my coupon and points. I say "only," because that's still an insane amount of money to spend in one trip.... and it's not the only time I've spend that amount or close to that amount in the last six months... lol! I'm really happy with Jacquie helping me out, because obviously I'm a very good Ulta customer, and it's important to me that they take my account security seriously! read more

Wow. Came here for the first time needing advice. There were two sales ladies on the floor. One was very busy with another customer. The other was on her cell texting. I walked up to her and she ignored me. Finally I tapped her on the shoulder and she rolled her eyes. I let her know what I was looking for and she pointed out one product and asked if I needed anything else. I let her know I needed more advice but her phone rang so that was that. The store was filthy, makeup samples all over the floor, lipstick smeared on display cases. It was very nasty. Not the experience I was hoping for. Will never step foot in here again. read more

This Ulta could have so much potential if they actually hired more staff members with better attitudes. It's at a great location with plenty of parking and it's pretty big compared to other ultas and some sephoras. Their nyx products are always out of stock and so are their ck mascaras, even on a Thursday when they supposedly get their shipments and restock. And be careful asking an employee for help because they're are a bit snappy. They'll clearly see you walking around looking for an item or looking confused but won't bother to ask if you need help and keep talking amongst themselves. They also don't carry any Lorac products at this particular store but they do at other ultas. I'm still hoping they improve even though it's been a couple of years since they've opened. read more

I'm sad that this is my new local Ulta. I had gotten used to the cleanliness and friendliness of the Pacific Commons location, and expected to at least be greeted when I walked through the doors. Nope. Nothing. Just a couple of blank stares. I happened to be the only customer in the store (which was awkward), and there were at least 4 employees working at the time, none of which bothered to be of any assistance. In fact, two of them (a guy and a girl) near the Benefit products were rather rude to me when they realized I had a couple of questions about Benefit primer and mascara. I walked in thinking I would buy both, I wound up buying neither. There were also a few NYX products I was excited to look at but I was completely blocked from entering that isle because an employee was restocking a bunch of product. Which wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest, had she made even the smallest attempt to even acknowledge that she was completely blocking customers from entering the isle. There was no doubt she saw me standing there, yet she did nothing to either acknowledge me or the fact that she was in the way. I left empty handed and completely put off. Walked across the street to Walgreen's and got some makeup there instead. In summation, as another yelper so perfectly put it, this Ulta needs to get their shit together. read more

So I had a 11:20am appointment. I arrived there about ten minutes to eleven, introduced my self to the two ladies at the the cash register and told them about my appointment with Crystal. I was told that she was not in yet but they would let me know as soon as she walk in. So I walked around the store and around 11:05a.m., I went back to the cashiers and one of them told me that Crystal was now in and walked me over to her station. Crystal without asking my name told me that I had to wait until twelve o'clock because she had an eleven a.m. walk-in and she had another person at 11:20 a.m. I gave her my name then she said, "oh so you are my 11:20 a.m. appointment, well you still have to wait because I am doing this walk-in" by this time I felt frustrated because it's now 11:15 a.m. and she started helping this other woman. I left the place around 11:30am and around 11:40 am, I get a call from Crystal to see if I still wanted her to do my eyebrows. I just don't understand the why of making an appointment? The place is well organized but very poor customer service. It's not like I was begging for a free service. It's too bad that in such a nice area this place is not doing more for costumers. read more

The store is always helpful but DO NOT GO TO CINDY TANG who is a hair stylist there. She comes across as helpful and nice, and at first was helpful spending time discussing color, I showed her many photos..but she did not listen to the color I wanted for my hair, and became extremely IRRITATED and severely RUDE when I complained and wanted to come back for a fix. I LOVE ULTA! I was devastated when Borders closed, but was thrilled to see that an ULTA was chosen to fill its place (even though another bookstore would have been nice). You can find most of your favorite brands from Sephora in addition to a lot of cheaper brands, including their own ULTA line of products. Much more convenient than driving all the way to Emeryville. I was just browsing the store, testing out perfumes and swatching some palettes for future purchases because I need to make sure I like it before I buy it. While I was roaming around the store, the security guard followed me everywhere as if I was gonna steal something. I was offended because it's as if I could not afford the stuff or something. I was not looking around the store sneakingly as if I were going to steal something. I was not opening my purse or jacket. I basically gave her no reason to follow me like that. Wow the worst experience ever! Wanted a hair cut so I called the store - it rings and rings no message no voice mail so I go online to book. I book with Vanessa for 1 pm. Go early and check at noon and Vanessa isn't even working. They know the on line system dosen't work but nobody can help no offer of anything . When I ask for a manager I get Joan the cashier with no skills and lots of poor attitude. Wow I ask for a business card she can't cope and got some one else with no clue what customer service is or what to do.
