I had an experience at Ulta Beauty that I felt deserved recognition--not just for my own visit, but for something I witnessed in store. While waiting in line to return an unopened product, I observed a situation between a customer and a cashier named Bryce. The customer had opened and used a product in the store, and when Bryce calmly explained the store's policy regarding opened merchandise, she became increasingly rude and belittling toward him. Despite being spoken to disrespectfully and even being told she would leave a negative review, Bryce remained composed, professional, and respectful throughout the entire interaction. I was the next customer he assisted, and although it was clear the previous interaction had been difficult, he still greeted me with kindness and maintained a positive attitude. I had such a wonderful experience at the Bend Ulta yesterday thanks to Norman, the senior artist. He has an incredible eye and immediately understood what would work for my skin tone and what I was actually looking for. His recommendations were spot on. The ILIA foundation stick and Bobbi Brown cream blush he helped me choose look amazing and feel effortless to wear. Beyond his talent, Norman is genuinely debonair, kind, and thoughtful. It was clear that the other artists in the store adore him, and the energy around him was warm and collaborative. He really listened to what I needed and made the experience feel relaxed, personal, and confidence-boosting rather than overwhelming. This was one of those rare makeup consultations where you walk out feeling like yourself, just better. I went in on Friday, the 1st of May on May day! I asked about this one product and they said you need to talk to Norman so they led me to this young man who's in charge of their Lancome products. I think that's what he does. He helped me so much! I've never had anybody take the time to really assist me in any store to be honest he helped to be fine this beautiful lipstick and lip liner and then he applied them to me right there! I'm not a hair and make up girl, nor am I huge product whore. Because of this, I'm not in Ulta very often. But on occasion, I might pick up some sunscreen or face lotion. I go to check out and the cashier asks for my member phone number, to which I inform her that I'm not in the system. She tried to get me set up with an Ulta account and I refuse, telling her I don't want to be in their system. Girlfriend starts strong-arming me, saying that I NEED to register because it "makes returns easier" (isn't that what receipts are for??). I decline again and I get MAJOR attitude. I just want to buy my sunscreen and be on my way...and no, I won't be returning the sunscreen, as I've bought that brand dozens of times. I forgot my hempz lotion and always use it so had to go buy more and they had an Ulta in Bend along our travels. Glad to find it and the service was outstanding and good Covid precautions, I just paid a lot more for it than normal. Definitely a little too pricey of a store for me. $29 for lotion I normally pay less than that for two is insane, but I love Hempz that much I paid the price. I got a different scent to try something new since they were sold out of original and i will have a new scent once back home so i don't have multiple of the same one. We were visiting from another part of Oregon, but figure we just put money in the economy of where we visited so that's ok, there was a line to get in as they are limiting how many people in the store, but it was quick about ten minutes to get in. read more

Product selection is amazing. I go there to get items from "both sides" of the aisle. If you shop at Ulta, you know what I mean. However, the customer service at the Bend location has been awful and getting worse. Funny, if you're over a "certain age", it is hard to get anyone to help you. (Yet we old ladies have all the money!) I even had a young sales lady say "you old ladies just don't know how to do your brows". LOL I arrived Wednesday Nov. 4th at 10AM. I asked the two cashiers (one was training) to send help to the Ulta brand displays. After THREE requests and 10 minutes, no one ever came to help me, I put my basket with items on the front counter and walked out. Hope the store manager will read this. Unfortunately because they have most things I need, I have no choice but to shop here. I tried doing my makeup shopping on Amazon or Target/Walmart and it just wasn't the same. The website sucks sometimes, always slow and lagging especially on my phone. My biggest complaint is the staff. Every time I get 'curbside pickup' and check in once I arrive, I literally wait 5 minutes before I have to go inside. Every time I go inside, I find a few employees just sitting around so there must be a problem with their website and curbside service like a lack of communication. I have been a Sephora loyal forever. I've been rouge since the program began. However not only has Sephora, in my opinion, been letting their customer service slide so far downhill you can't even see it anymore, they also constantly get my orders wrong, or leave things out (I don't live close to a store anymore). Tori and Sam were so amazing, not only with their unparalleled help, never feeling like I was being pushed to buy anything....EVER!! I cannot say enough good things about Tori and Sam!! I came in when they were getting close to closing, knowing for the most part exactly what I was looking for. I recently got engaged and asked about a travel hand cream....no hesitation, I got (in my opinion) the best one ever!! I'm from the Northern California Coast, and what this cream has done for my hands here is amazing!! I can't even imagine how soft they'll be when I get back to a less dry climate! I cannot say it enough that these two woman not only went above and beyond for me, they were just so lovely to deal with. They gave me samples without having to ask.... for which you frequently do at Sephora, even when you spend thousands there a year. Which in my opinion is ridiculous...they don't even offer. Sure if you ask they'll do it, but why should I have to ask when I'm in store dropping hundreds of dollars?! I walked out with a lip balm that has saved my lips, rather than the Burts bees I usually use (Mario Badescu...phenomenal!!!). Many products I would have normally ordered through Sephora I bought through them, because I needed them, and why not buy from two women who are going above and beyond for you. I spent all of my college years working in customer service, one of which was a job at MAC that I had for several years. I could go on but I think it's needless to say these two women have converted me to Ulta! I'm not saying I will never shop at Sephora again, because they do have products that I use that are not sold at Ulta. That being said anytime I can shop at Ulta as opposed to Sephora I will. Especially when I come to Bend, which my fiancé and I do frequently, to see these two lovely ladies. I won't pat pictures of the samples but let's just say they gave me a small version of the best mascara to ever exist. Which I needed to throw in my purse. Go see these amazing women!! Worst haircut I have ever had. Had the haircut on 09/11/21 at 6:30pm. I called the Salon on Monday 9/13. I had tried calling the salon for 30 minutes- they have no VM. Had to call the Ulta store and ask to speak to the salon manager. They were able to schedule me for Thursday 9/16/21 at 1PM. They called me at 9:00Am day of to tell me it's cancelled and the only open appointment they have is on Saturday for the same person to cut my hair who messed it up the first time. They are not offering me a refund and I now have to go somewhere else and PAY MORE MONEY to have my haircut fixed by another Salon. Went in and stood at the salon desk for over 10 minutes, all the while ulta associates walking right past me or around me. I finally asked someone if they could get me checked in for my haircut. The gal I spoke with was a brand ambassador so she went to find someone. About 5 minutes later a gal showed up and let me know their hairstylist had called in sick. I asked why no one called to inform me? I mean when you have an appointment that should be a simple courtesy. The gal asked someone over their earbud system and told me they did call me this morning and left me a voice mail. I informed her I never got a call this morning, nor a voice-mail. I informed her that I drove in 40 minutes to be here for my appointment & if I would have received a call I wouldn't be here having this conversation. All she could offer me was I'm so sorry. I am taking back my Five star review. I would like to start off by saying that the Women who work at the Beauty Bar, Hair salon and the facial bar are amazing, I give them 5 stars. However, the management is horrific. I got my eyebrows done a few days ago by the sweetest girl but because of the lack of proper lighting she missed a few spots that I couldn't even see! Until I got home and my boyfriend pointed them out to me. My eye lid was also very swollen, which happens. But when the swelling went down I noticed that the wax job had taken off a bit of my skin, Iv never had that happen before. So of course I called and asked to speak with a manager about fixing my wax job and told her about my skin being taken off. She told me that it would be no problem and for me to come in and she would have one of the girls finish my wax job and that they would refund me my money. Well, when I got there the manager would not come to the front desk to speak with me. She had the cashier running back and forth to "relay her messages" to me saying, that I would either be refunded my money or I would have to pay for a whole new service... not at all what was discussed over the phone. I had the cashier go get the manager for me to speak with face to face. Here is where it gets really bad. The manager comes over to me and says "O you want BOTH?!" ... I replied "Yes, they need to fix the job that wasn't finished in the first place and refund me for the scratch on my face." I said this while pointing to the spot. She then leans over the counter and squints her eyes at me as hard as possible...She then says "ok but I can't refunded you the whole amount because I already gave the girl her tip money". I replied jokingly with, "that's totally fine I'm not that much of a B****." While saying this, the manager raises her eye brows up in a gesture as if to say, that I was. I had a facial right after this at the same place ... instead of having a relaxing and enjoyable time I was tense and just wanted to cry. But thankfully the girls who worked on me were very enjoyable and professional and made the experience tolerable. Picture is attached. It's been a few days and my scratch is healing up nicely. None of this was a big deal and easy to fix but the way I was treated is why I am giving them one star. read more

If I could give this business "0" stars I would! My wife sent me into Ulta with a product name and pictures. I needed a hair clip and hair ties for her and my daughter. I went on a Saturday, and was surprised it wasn't as busy as I thought it was going to be. I walked in and no one acknowledged my existence. I walked past a lady who seemed to be training another employee. I said excuse me and they walked right by me. They went to the back of the store, and I had to go to them. I showed them the picture of the product I was looking for from Ultas website. I asked if they had the hair ties. She laughed in my face and said "no" absolutely no explanation or a thought on where or when I could get them. Just "no"! I am in customer service, this really frustrated me. I had a consultation with the salon manager of this Ulta about doing a balayage on my hair. She assured me she could do the service and I made the appointment with her. On the day of the appointment she put the product on my hair and rinsed it out and said she wasn't happy. She then proceeded to do it again and also put foils in my hair. I told her I didn't want foils, I asked for a balayage for a reason. I didn't want the highlights near my roots due to my gray hairs and the need to do root touches every 3-4 weeks. She then said "Don't worry, I won't charge you". I again stated that I did not want foils and she continued to argue with me. After rinsing out the bleach the second time, I ended up with the color in the picture. Yes, ORANGE hair!!!!!!! Not a balayage, but a two toned mess!!!! And she wanted me to pay $216.00 for it. After 3 1/2 hours of sitting in her chair and her wanting to process it a third time, I left. Without paying a cent. The cashier had the nerve to ask for a tip. The next day I woke up with chemical burns on my face and scalp. I called Ulta's corporate office and their solution was to give me a $10.00 gift card and have the store manager call me. That was a joke. I went in a few days after the phone call to return the shampoo I bought and the same store manager that called me (Mary) was extremely rude as soon as my name appeared on her register. I spend a lot of money in that store and they have lost my business for good. I have had to spend $390.00 so far to fix the mess they made and I'm only on the first step. I still have a couple more to go. Take my advice, if you like your hair, don't go to this salon. If you feel you must, DO NOT let the manager, Cara or Carrie or whatever her name is touch your hair!!!! read more

It really does amaze me every time I go into Ulta how absolutely horrendous the customer service is. I am the first to say that I spend messed up amounts of money on makeup; not just for myself, but also as a professional makeup artist . Today is a good example of Ultas customer service because it's just like every other time I go there. We walked in and there were 3 employees standing near the door talking, and not a single one of them acknowledged us. As I shopped not a single worker gave me the time of day. In the Benefit section looking at brow pencils I was looking at the testers, when a worker doing a girls makeup picked up every single tester I was looking at and took them away to where they were doing her makeup. Acting as if I was completely invisible. There was a single employee who asked if I would like a basket and I was walking up to the checkout line struggling to hold the products I was buying. I have never had a good time going in here. I really hope the workers are making top dollar because they sure do act like they're worth some hot shit. Bend doesn't have a Sephora , but I wish and wish and wish every day for them to get one. EVERY SINGLE time I come into the Bend Ulta, I get treated like garbage. Some of the woman (not all of them) have the WORST customer service!!! I've worked in makeup before, and I shop in makeup so much. Having them look you up and down, tell you to give them a few minutes (when there was no one else shopping) and then not help you. Over the years since this ultra has been in this mall I haven't been too impressed with the service or friendliness of the staff and stock of make up. But over the past 6 months I've been pleasantly surprised and feel like the staff are much more friendly and welcoming than they were before. I've also noticed a greater effort to keep their shelves stocked especially when it comes to different foundation colors and they're always willing to help you find a different foundation in your shade if your favorite one is out of stock. Some make up stores can feel quite pretentious when you walk in if you're not wearing a full face of make up and can treat you like you don't know what you're doing or that you don't know about the products you're looking at. This is not the case at this Ulta and I've enjoyed all products I've purchased from there! read more

Traveling for the month and I didn't have time to get my hair done at home. Took a chance and made an appointment with Charlette for cut and color. Ended up with highlights too. I love my hair. The stylists in the hair salon are extremely nice. You can get a blowout for $40, which is a steal. The employees who do hair and skin services seem nicer than the cashiers, not sure why that is. Anyways, overall it's a good place in Bend and I'll continue to shop here! read more

I came in for a Clarisonic, ended up with a LOT more... A lady named Jackie helped me with the entire process of picking out the facial brush along with accessories. So much has changed about this product since I last purchased one in 2012. I appreciate her patience and knowledge! As I continued to shop, the ladies working were all very friendly, made eye contact and asked if I needed any help. Brook was the cashier and explained how the member rewards work. We also had a great conversation while she rang up the (*many*) items I bought. Very professional and she even asked if I wanted help out to my car. Super disappointed! My husband called a week ago and scheduled for me to have my makeup done before our maternity pictures. It was such a relief to be able to not worry about messing up my makeup and having a crazy pregnant lady cry about it. Well we show up at our appointment time and one lady says she sees our appointment and that it's on the book. So we stand there for 20 minutes waiting for the lady who my appointment is with. She comes up finally to say I don't have an appointment and no one would make it right. Off to Macy's to get my makeup done! I suggest you get everyone's name involved when you make your appointments or maybe only make appointments online where you can have proof so this doesn't happen to you too. I am a make up novice and a few weeks ago I went into Ulta to get a new make up overhaul. I kind of knew what I wanted/needed and was assisted by Maria that day. She was so knowledgeable and helpful with my questions. I asked for help finding another product and she just pointed me in the direction. I tried asking her about products and she said she didn't know. While it's very convenient having an actual makeup store in town, at Ulta the employees tend to be very rude to me and my friends. We are younger and have just started college,last time we went the employees were rude and kept only showing me cheap products when I said I wanted to improve on my current makeup supplies. They followed us around and would stare and stand close to us if we so much as got our phones from our bags, while testing a foundation one employee even shouted "hey lady!" From several aisles over and then approached and asked what I was doing. Later My friend was looking at an item out of the box because the tester was gone and an employee ran up and was being condescending and tried to tell my friend that there were other testers (there weren't, which we pointed out) then she said she needed to replace the tester but refused to walk away after we continued looking and when we asked about similar products to something she said there were none in the store and that what I had at my house already should work even though I just told her it wasn't working for me, I walked over two aisles and found the exact product I was lookin for that she has just denied was even in the store. I am appalled at how we were treated just because we are younger and were carrying bags (I think that's why they treated us badly) my friend ended up spending $90 and I spent $75 still can't believe they treated paying customers like thieves just because we are younger. I've never even written a review before and am always very patient as I also work in the customer service industry, i literally downloaded Yelp and made an account just to write this review.
