My daughter and I stopped by the Ulta Beauty in Fairfield to try a perfume, but everything was locked up. An associate named NATALIE came over to help. She sprayed the perfume on a test strip for us but wouldn't even let us hold the bottle ourselves. Not sure if that's a new rule or what, but it felt a little awkward. Unfortunately, she wasn't very friendly either. It was only 11 AM, so the store had just opened, but she seemed like she was already having a rough day. When I asked about using a discount or the free tote bag promotion, her responses were short and kind of rude, with no explanation or helpful info about the perfume. My daughter definitely picked up on her attitude, which made the whole experience less enjoyable. We still bought the perfume, but the customer service definitely missed the mark. My review is not about the store itself--they are always friendly and welcoming. This review is specifically about the salon services. I went in last Sunday for accent highlights and a haircut, and unfortunately, the results were very disappointing. The highlights are uneven and only really visible on the left side of my head. The color is also inconsistent--very bright at the roots and orange toward the ends. The stylist mentioned having 16 years of experience, but throughout the appointment she seemed distracted, frequently talking to other guests and coworkers instead of focusing on the service. I paid $180 including tip, and the quality did not reflect that price. This was my first visit, and it will also be my last. I would not recommend the salon. read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at the Ulta in Fairfield today. I was being followed around the store by an employee in a way that was very obvious and uncomfortable. While shopping, I asked an employee a very basic question about a product, and she didn't even look at me when responding. She simply said someone else would help me and walked away, which came across as dismissive and rude. I later asked about the current promotion where you receive a free gift after spending a certain amount on Ulta brand products, and the other employee was also unhelpful and just stated they were out of the gifts. The overall experience made me feel unwelcome as a customer. It's disappointing because people choose to spend their hard earned money at these businesses, and customer service should reflect that. This Ulta is always pretty well maintained. The workers in general are quite helpful and friendly. I have never had a bad experience working here. If a product is not in stock they can order it for you. I'm a beauty product junkie so I'm here shopping quite a bit. Returns are pretty smooth. I deducted one star for the lack of hygiene for testing supplies (cotton swabs, alcohol, makeup removed, etc). If they can resolve that small issue, I would consider this a 5 star place to shop! read more

I went to the Ulta Salon today for a color retouch and brought a clear photo of the exact shade I wanted. From the beginning, I explained what I was looking for. However, when they finished, my hair looked almost the same as before just a bit brighter It was nothing like the color in the photo I showed. I told them I wasn't happy with the result, and they tried to correct it by adding another color, but even then, the final result still didn't come close to what I asked for. I want to mention that the stylist who worked on my hair was kind and tried to help. But the manager and another employee showed a very unprofessional and unpleasant attitude. The manager, especially, was not friendly at all, which really surprised me considering she represents the salon and should provide better customer service. I left the salon feeling disappointed with both the result and the overall treatment. Based on my experience today, I cannot recommend this salon. I believe they need to improve both the quality of their work and their attitude toward customers read more

Maybe the worst customer service I have experienced. Diamond ulta rewards member and walk in, am greeted. Several employees walking around store, none offer to help. I had to go stand in the checkout line to ask for help in fragrances. I asked if they had a sample of a fragrance they said "no". I then asked if they could make one. He headset messaged the manager, he went to get key, came back scanned box and said he can't make one. They lost a $180 fragrance purchase plus everything else I had in my bag. But, "I could purchase and return the item"? Why not make a tester? I will not be returning to ulta. This experience left a very bad start to my day. I will drive to a Sephora over the bridge because they do have testers and will open new boxes to make a tester. They also take returns, so ulta has nothing on them. read more

By the second day it was flat on top Called for them to either redo it or refund me for it $165 is a lot for something that didn't last! I also gave her a $35 tip! Bought foundation at this store, discovered when I left that sales associates had stocked the incorrect color foundation in that slot. I live about five hours from any Ulta store. Asked for assistance on their website with exchanging the unused bottle, and they refuse to process exchanges for sales from the retail store online. What a terrible policy. If this company is so splintered off into various corporate subsidiaries that they are unable to operate as unified entity for the purpose of bare minimum customer service, it's really not worth it. I wish I had gotten the names of the two ladies that were there the day I went in. One lady was literally everywhere and asked if I needed any help almost every time I saw her and did it with a smile. That is excellent customer service! There was a younger lady at the register and I asked her for help with a product and she just pointed to where it was and said if they had it, it would be there. Then she walks away. I actually needed to see the product that was behind the glass door (perfume). I stared at her as she walked away wondering why she just left and didn't help me look at the product. I decided to go look for the older lady that was actually helping me look for products earlier and she was able to help me. The same younger employee that was no help rung me up and did the transaction so fast, handed my bad and walked away to go do whatever she was doing. This review is for the ULTA salon, I got my hair cut, specifically I got the signature cut with Jessye and she was beyond amazing! I wanted someone who was going to do a good job layering my hair and she blew my mind. She did a phenomenal job, before her I only had one person do my layers well, but she's now in a location far from me, so finding Jessye and having her do an amazing job the first time did it for me. Either way the employees and on one occasion the security guard was following me and my siblings around. It's very uncomfortable. This last time I went I was genuinely curious about a product so when I was approached by a second employee she didn't even know what to say about the product. It's not a nice way to treat customers who are spending their hard earned money. I could understand that it is their job to ask the customer if they need help but in this case she didn't get someone more knowledgeable to help. I live in Fairfield but this was the 1st time visiting this ulta. It was not stocked very well alot of shelves were empty. The vibe was weird too, the employees didn't seem to eager to help and Tram on register 2 was a little rude to me, I did not enjoy her interaction at all. First she asked my friend and I if we needed baskets which we didn't cause we were literally checking out that moment. Then the sweet security guard came over and personally handed my friend and I baskets. Even tho it wasn't needed we still thanked him for his sweet gesture and took the baskets. Well while Tram was checking me out she asked "I thought you didn't need a basket"? I didn't but the guard gave me one, do you want me to be rude to him and tell him no go away when he already brought it over. She then laughed it off. Then when I was waiting for her to finish processing my transaction she tells me push the button for receipt which I already had and she wasn't even paying attention then she was like oh yea there's a lag. Because there is no way to enter NO STARS FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION! This review is not based on their salon but their front cashier and the store manager! Rude - rude and rude! I bought $300 worth of products from here; you think a simple greeting such as "hello, how are you"? could roll off of their lips! Oh no; the cashier who was at the counter, looked absolutely amused to be there, and such politeness, as she walked away as I put my things on the counter. There was no eye contact - but no, "someone will be right with you, or perhaps the person who was standing in front of the register could have said something. No they both stood there and the one of the girls finally started to ring me up. Here's a TIP: perhaps the sales person who's helping the customer buy the damn products that bring revenue to your store that assist in paying your paycheck - could talk to the cashier and advise her as to which products are comped because of the # of purchases on a certain brand of product. Because clearly - the cashier NOR THE STORE MANAGER; are aware of this. Not to mention; I'm a manager as well and I don't work in the retail business (but I have) but how about a thought: LEAD BY EXAMPLE???!!! Or why not brush up on that customer service training! I am beyond annoyed - especially since I called; and you know I'm sorry but I didn't have a good experience while I was in your store and then I get home and I see an additional $40 on my charge card because the manager didn't know those two products were comped! So while I'm on the phone; oh wait - I get disconnected conveniently exactly at 6;00pm as the store is closing - and then call back 3 more times and then she actually answers. Granted she was apologetic........but at this point I am beyond rational. So yeah my voice has a bit of 'tude in it and then she has the audacity to say, "I am just trying to help you"!??? No! Your not! What you should have done was payed a bit more attention to a customer who was there onsite in your damn store because guess what; I buy a lot of makeup and I would have made your store my go to store - especially since you have a knowledgeable person such as Abby that helps customers pick their products! BTW - I GIVE ABBY 5 stars; patience, kindness, helpfulness and genuine care for the customer. Ok, wow. I've never seen such a nasty, unkempt store! I will never shop here again. So many things out of stock, general mess everywhere, nasty testers that I personally would not touch, just gross. Normally I would never say someone needs to be fired, but whoever is in charge of this store needs a reprimand. Sadly, this store is a true reflection of a mall that has such a bad reputation. Rose has been doing my hair for over a year. I had curly, frizzy, damaged hair and have tried so many different treatments in the past (Japanese rebonding and Brazilian blowout). She introduced me to the keratin treatment which I absolutely love and also is able to keep my hair healthy with the best coloring. I first was with her at Concord Ulta and followed her to Fairfield because she has just been so true and loyal to keeping my hair healthy and up to date. Would definitely recommend! A message to the security guard it's very impolite to stare , and as a black woman it's very discomforting to the point where It felt like it would have been a crime for me to leave this store without buying anything . My hair got so toned, it's grey. I have a ruined shirt that's bleached and in the trash. All from a, "Master Stylist". The salon manager made it right with me, though the store manager shrugged her face and smiled like it was a joke before getting help. The appointment really started on a positive note though. I'm chill, and was excited to try out a new salon/stylist. There's really no excuse for smiling and laughing at me when you ruined my shirt and turned my hair gray. Like, face the circumstances professionally. As stated, the salon manager was professional for his staff. The toner will indeed wash out, but it's just not okay to run away from your problems. I was furious and started to shake when the stylist said, thanks! See you next time!! Oh girl... We all run the risk of getting our hair and clothes ruined from time to time. I wish I could give zero stars for this place! My 15 year old sister decided to get her makeup done here, against my better judgement because I told her the employees at this location have 0 experience and knowledge when it comes to deeper skin tones. My sister has a caramel complexion and she ended up walking out with a chocolate complexion with over exaggerated eyebrows! Her makeup was at least 2 shades darker than her complexion. Her eyebrows were a complete mess and her eyeshadow was applied unevenly. When we called Ulta to let them know about the makeup, Thelma offered tons of excuses. My sister is 15 years old, if she's unhappy about something she's not going to let you know. She's very quiet and reserved. She spent $45 of her own money to get her makeup done and it was done terribly! Even when we went into the store for our refund and to show Thelma the photos, she was very unresponsive and seemed to careless about the unsatisfactory work. She was unapologetic the entire time. I called before going in and was told store hours are 10am-9pm Monday-Saturday. I went in at 8pm Friday just to return something really quick. I had to drive into town 15 minutes and the doors were locked at 8pm. Internet hours also state closed at 9pm, store front also said closing time is 9pm. Please fix your store hours on the door, internet, phone recording and tell all employees to state the correct hours when calling the store. I came into the store looking for a new skin care regimen. I have terrible hyperpigmentation and was watching several YouTube videos before coming into the store. But I still wasn't confident. I asked one of the employees for help and they introduced me to Allie. I expressed my skin concerns and she was very patient with me, educated me about each product which I absolutely appreciate and love love! I've only been in 2 Ulta stores. I'm so excited to announce that Ulta now does tape-in extensions. I've been going to Alyssa now for awhile. I come twice a week due to a injury on my shoulder it's hard to wash my own hair. The whole entire time we were being followed and felt very uncomfortable. We tried shaking it off since we were excited about to new holiday makeup items. While looking at a gift, an employee comes up and asks if we needed help but came off very rude. We told her no and that we were just looking. She walked away into the middle of the aisle and stood there to just stare at us. My friend needed to find a new setting spray so she walked over to the urban decay aisle and she said to another employee "she's going to the setting sprays". I went up to the lady who was talking to her employee through the mic because I had a question about if ulta carried gift sets with a variety of different makeup brands. I said excuse me about 2 times while she had her back turned and I wish i had asked someone else because she came off hostile and rude. She looked at me as if I said something stupid and said with an attitude "the only gift sets i know of are within the same brand" which was totally understandable. Then she said rudely "you can just build your own" and i thought there was a new ulta thing to build a gift set so i was interested and told her "oh they do that here now" then she proceeded to say "no buy the full sized items and build your own" with an attitude. I was thrown off because i did not know what i did to upset this lady. This Ulta in Fairfield needs to teach employees to treat others with kindness and respect. You may not like your job but that does not mean you should treat others terribly because you are miserable. I explained to Allie that I was trying to move away from spending so much money on make up and if she could recommend some products that are not that expensive but similar to the ones that I currently use.
