I wish I could give this place 0 stars but i guess 1 star will have to do. My friend and I visited this ulta to look around at the holiday gift sets. The whole entire time we were being followed and felt very uncomfortable. We tried shaking it off since we were excited about to new holiday makeup items. While looking at a gift, an employee comes up and asks if we needed help but came off very rude. We told her no and that we were just looking. She walked away into the middle of the aisle and stood there to just stare at us. My friend needed to find a new setting spray so she walked over to the urban decay aisle and she said to another employee "she's going to the setting sprays". I went up to the lady who was talking to her employee through the mic because I had a question about if ulta carried gift sets with a variety of different makeup brands. I said excuse me about 2 times while she had her back turned and I wish i had asked someone else because she came off hostile and rude. She looked at me as if I said something stupid and said with an attitude "the only gift sets i know of are within the same brand" which was totally understandable. Then she said rudely "you can just build your own" and i thought there was a new ulta thing to build a gift set so i was interested and told her "oh they do that here now" then she proceeded to say "no buy the full sized items and build your own" with an attitude. I was thrown off because i did not know what i did to upset this lady. This Ulta in Fairfield needs to teach employees to treat others with kindness and respect. You may not like your job but that does not mean you should treat others terribly because you are miserable. I used to love shopping at Ulta but now that store makes me uncomfortable and I feel judged when even looking or touching an item. read more

This review is solely for services at the Ulta salon in the Fairfield store. (The store itself is kind of messy and product is always out of stock). The appointment for the salon was easy to book online and I got an appt in less than an hour on a Saturday. I was unsure when I went in, only because the last few times I got a cut (from other salons/stylists) the results were terrible- but Jessye was fantastic! She got me for my appointment right after I got there and sat me down. I wanted a cut and deep conditioning treatment. She took time to check out the condition of my hair and talk about what I wanted & what she recommended before bringing me to the sink. I got a great cut, exactly what I wanted, she kept the length and freshened up my layers. She was super friendly the entire time. When it came time to style she did an amazing job- my hair has a mind of its own and gets big and frizzy when blow dried, but I left with smooth hair, and soft romantic curls at the bottom. Past experiences have made me realize that a lot of stylists don't know how to tame my hair and make it look nice when blow drying. I almost always leave a salon to go home and fix it myself. But not this time! I will definitely be back to see Jessye for my next cut. read more

I've giving this place a couple times to pick up some items that I use on the regular. However every time I come I'm waiting in a line that's unnecessarily long. There seems to be no speed of service and also no awareness of customers in line. When you have a big store you should have more than one person ringing up customers, so that way they can leave and a timely matter. Both of the trips that I've made to this location I have not bought anything because of the line situation. This location is great for stepping in and returning things you didn't like from the other stores you do like going to. The employees here are so rude you walk in and they just all straight stare at you walking in. No greeting, no hand wave or anything. Like I get it you don't wanna work there for the terrible pay Ulta pays you and this particular locations manager is the absolute worse. So I get why these employees act this way so Ulta corporate y'all need to remedy this location something. The testers are an absolute mess. There are never enough employees at the register. Thelma Rose is the absolute BEST! I was her client in the concord Ulta, and when she moved to Fairfield I just new I couldn't trust my hair with anyone else, so I drove over to get it done by her again. I love how she really takes her time to make sure your hair is at its best. She's super fun and sweet, and easy to hold a conversation with. My session took about 5 hours, and she made sure I was comfortable the whole time and knew exactly what I wanted. Definitely recommend her and the other stylists there! :) read more

I went in for the deal on a cut & style for $37. I ended up getting all over color too, since they had a good deal for that as well. The stylist was rough with my hair and didn't clean a lot of the dye off my face. I had a dinner to go to after and hid half of my face behind my hair. Later I parted my hair down the middle and combed it out only to see that there was a lock of hair sticking up about an inch from my scalp. Literally the worst cut I've ever had. How could a licensed hair dresser make this kind of mistake? It looks as though I got something stuck in my hair and had to cut it out. I will now be very self-conscious while wearing my hair down. Today I went here with my boyfriend to do a return and pick up some products. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to get so I spent some time looking around. I immediately realized something was weird when all employees started standing by where we were, and asked if we were finding everything okay. This is a common tactic practiced by department stores to try and spook thieves. I know because I worked at a store that would do this and I also had to do this at some point I'm time. However, it was to people who were ACTUALLY scamming. It felt weird having them hover over me while I was looking through the items and I immediately felt a huge rush of guilt even though I had no reason to feel guilty. It was just overly uncomfortable. Anyway, the heat really turned up when the security guard started walking around us. The guard doesn't come in unless employees inform him of suspicious activities. But there were no suspicious activities to inform him of so I don't know what the hell their issues were. I walked over to the opposite side of the store to look at the drugstore products. And the security guard followed. He kept walking back and fourth by us. My boyfriend was dressed in sweats and a hat, so e automatically thought they were stereotyping him. But it's literally cold outside, so if they're judging people based off their clothing, then obviously that says a lot about them. I started talking loudly to let the dumbass security guard know he was noticed and he wasn't being clever. I told my boyfriend if he had something to say to come say it if he had a problem (the guard). The part that really pissed us off was when we were in this corner looking at items and he peeked his head over to look at us. And then he went all the way to the front of the store to look at us ??? It's like dude if you wanna check us then check us. We SEE you. We wanted to leave faster because he was being so weird and stalkerish. We weren't stealing anything, but I almost wish I had since they wanted to be so up our ass about SOMETHING. The employees here are such ugly people. And the security guard is whack. I got my haircut here by Raven and it looks awful. I asked for a basic haircut that any hairstylist should know how to do.. A trim and layers. My hair is completely uneven with one layer. And I didn't even schedule an appointment with her. I had scheduled an appointment with Marisa and when I got there she delighted her appointment to Raven. I should have left right then. Made a same day appointment with Jessye. Despite the delayed appointment due to the holiday rush, however, that quickly negated it due to her part of providing good customer service. Very happy with her cut, style, and her personality - open/honest and no BS. I am definitely coming back for my daughter so until then, I will update my review and hope her service is consistent. Let's talk about ALLIE! My operative goal Friday afternoon was to track down a lip gloss by NYX that I purchased randomly last year add another all to location. Upon searching at the check stand and everywhere else I could think of I did not locate this particular brand, however I randomly found something extremely close in the clearance section. Let's just fast forward to the customer service experience. When asking ALLIE if she'd heard of the item it didn't sound familiar to her however she did pull out her phone and take a look at the item also tried looking it up in their system but to no Avail. We did find that the item was in fact something that was limited edition sadly. She suggested another brand and although I never got around to checking that brand I did stumble across something that was quite similar in style and color. Once reaching the check out like most of us do I began picking through the lip glosses and debating on whether I needed all 5 glosses being that I have tubs full of them the brand I decided to purchase was Maybelline so I decided to get online and see where else they sold this brand and style of lip gloss. I wound up finding it at target for $4 as opposed to 8 but they were sold out of a majority of The colors. ALLIE went the extra mile, Applied coupons that I had no idea where available to me, Informed me about my points which I had no idea about. She also gave me this cute little swag bag with samples of mascara and testers. She was extremely informative, very friendly and very helpful. it is very rare that you walk into an establishment and get that type of customer service. I also think that some people just naturally have it!!! It isn't forced, it isn't rehearsed IT JUST IS. Not only did she have amazing customer service in assisting me with what I was looking for but she assisted me about sales going on in an entirely different store. So after heading to that store in several thereafter I realized it was time for me to go after all I had only come to the mall that day to exchange my wall flowers and peak my head into ULTA to see if they possibly have the lip gloss I had purchased a year ago. upon searching for my keys which are generally held by the key ring on my finger I noticed that they weren't on my hand and they weren't in my purse. I also notice that my Tiffany glasses were missing from my face which I generally never take off unless I have the case with me. I knew I hadn't set a lot of things down at the next few stores besides ULTA so before freaking out completely. I walked back into the alter set my purse down and began looking through my purse thoroughly. At this time they were completely busy. I looked at ALLIE she looked at me and it didn't seem like my keys may have been there but she says "you back again" And I replied I don't know if this is a good visit and she says did you lose some keys and expensive glasses? I think my heart started beating again and I was extremely relieved. Not only was my experience with her pleasant but silently I observed her Interaction with her employees and she's really an amazing manager and ULTA should be proud to have her as head of this location!!!!! I am not exactly sure who the district manager is for the ULTA in Westfield Solono mall Or who ALLIE's manager is BUT she is nothing short of amazing!!! read more

The worst ulta I have ever been in! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I've had multiple negative experiences in this store and there is a serious disregard for any customer service skills. I've had to return makeup minutes after purchasing it when I've opened products and found that they'd already been opened and used. When I returned the makeup I was asked if I was sure that I hadn't used any of it or opened it.... Today I tried to buy a hair remover which, according to the sign was on sale for $8. I waited my turn in line to pay and when she rang up the hair remover it came up at $18. She repeatedly told me there was nothing she could do before sending me to stand by myself next to where the product came from to wait for someone to verify while she continued to ring people up. No one came to help me for 5 minutes and I went back to the cash register to ask if anyone was coming to help me. She came over to see that the price tag did say $8 and I was forced to stand at the back of the line, once again and wait while 5 people were rung up before I was able to check out again. No one was apologetic. I have never been sent out of a lito verify a wrongly marked item in a store, an employee should've been sent to verify the price, especially since I was right. I definitely should not have had to stand in line twice. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Terrible first experience. Made a appt to get my makeup done, she says it will be 3 min before "Bri" comes to do my makeup, I waited 10. Then she asks what I want and I say gold eyeshadow and a wing liner, but no lashes. She does the eye shadow you can barely see it and she says are you sure you want the wing liner? I said yes , she said well can I get someone else to do it????I'm horrible at it. I replied sure. After all that, she says; I don't do make up. Im a aesthetician. WTH? I was so mad, I refused to pay and asked for manager, as I'm talking to her my sis walks in from Mac and got hers done there. And I said look at hers and look at mine. I work at Solano Town Center, and my birthday is coming up soon so after work I decided to head over to Ulta as I saw a few people in the morning in the store as I walked to my shift at my work. As I walk toward Ulta, these two other women also proceeded to walk to Ulta; they manage to get in front of me. It was only us three in life, a worker who was a young lady proceeds to open the door and lets the two women walk in and I follow thinking she would let all of us in. No, she only lets the two in front of me in and proceeds to give me a dirty look and mumbles something that I didn't hear and proceeds to close the door. YES, I was wearing a protective mask. So, I guess that was the signal to wait in line. So, as I'm waiting I'm just observing the store and I see that the employee who let in the two girls and her co worker who seemed older were looking at me and talking and proceeding to give dirty looks. I tried to make sense of the situation, thinking maybe they are looking at something else as this Ulta is a glass store. The employee that let the two girls in I suppose was going on a break walks towards the door I'm waiting at along with the other coworker, the other coworker opens the door for her and she proceeds to come out and leave. As this happened, the older looking employee stood at the door half opened and proceeded to look me up and down with a dirty look, says nothing, no "sorry for the wait" or anything to provide me knowledge on if I should wait or not or any store rules. She shuts the door on me, and at this point I've had enough. I've said nothing so far during this whole situation, and wasn't really understanding why this situation was taking place. So, I proceed to leave to my car as I had to go grocery shopping. Ulta, being a glass store I look at the store to see if anyone else besides the two girls are in there as I walk towards my car which is was parked in front of Macy's. I automatically see the two girls sitting on the floor looking at products, and the older looking employee behind them staring me down yet again with the dirty look watching me leave the line. She did not stop looking until I believe both of us couldn't see us anymore. I'm very confused on this situation, I don't know what would trigger them about me to not let me in, give me dirty looks, and not inform me about anything. Happy they did not let me in, do not want to pitch in my money to a place that doesn't want me there. Vallejo Ulta is the one, will not be returning to this Ulta even if its in the mall I work at. *UPDATE* I did see the we are closed sign; however, but when I saw the girls go in I thought they were finally opening. I continued to stand there for that reason, for the first time I understand that I wasn't able to hear her correctly and have the chance to ask her to repeat herself again, however when the other associate came to open the door for the associate who I couldn't hear well, nothing was said to me. read more

AVOID THIS ULTA AT ALL COSTS. I was stoked when I first heard about an Ulta opening up in my hometown, but I seriously can't think of a single time I've ever left this store NOT pissed off. This store ALWAYS looks like it's been hit by a Black Friday mob. Merchandise is always messy, dirty, unorganized, or just straight up BROKEN. They seriously leave tons of broken and opened items on shelves like anyone would spend their money on trash. I skipped writing a bad review on this store because I had hope that the management would get better the longer it was open... NOPE. The staff is still a joke. Sorry not sorry. Employees aren't helpful, and get visibly upset if you don't agree with their opinions on products... seriously. This store ALWAYS has a ridiculously long line that moves slowly. I've literally watched employees wander around the store while there are 20 people waiting in line and one person ringing customers up. The only reason I'm finally writing a review for this place is because of Jeremy. He was my last straw. He looks like a manager (I don't know who decided that, but it was a mistake). He is SUPER rude. Like, unreasonably so. Now, I understand people have bad days, but this guy seems to have an attitude every single time I see him in there. Last time I went in he was incredibly loud with not just me and my friend, but everyone he rang up. Literally like he was announcing everything he was saying. Customer service is an issue here. I had 2 separate issues with online orders. My first issue was I placed an order 3.5 hours before I had attempted to pick up my order. I hadn't received an email saying it was ready but my experience with online ordering is that it's usually ready within a couple of hours. When I got there it wasn't ready and instead of saying we can get your order ready now, the excuse was we have 4 hours to get your order together. They threw my order together but never told me one of my items was out of stock. So after reviewing my order in the parking lot. I went back inside to find out they were out of stock. My second experience with pick up, I waited at the counter after I had received my confirmation email this time, for 15 minutes before the manager came to give me my order. Might not seem like a long time for some folks but I had a recent medical procedure done and standing is an issue. Her excuse was she was talking to her stylist but she knew I was waiting. She couldn't bother to stop taking to just give me my order so I could just leave. Customers keep these companies in business especially during a pandemic. I absolutely love and am obsessed with my teal hair! Rose who I have been blessed with at concord Ulta has made my hair dreams come true! She has made me blonde which I was obsessed with and loved but dude to work I had to get rid of it. But once again she made my teal dream come true! She is the hair queen and knows what she is doing, shes never disappointed but always cease to surprise me. I always tell her to just make me look good and i trust her 100%. Guess what!?!? She always makes me look good!!!! I was sad to hear she was transferring to Fairfield but that did NOT mean I was NOT gonna follow her all the way there! I can not find anyone else! For the epic tome that is my hair disaster and redemption, read on... Ok, I am not the best at taking photos of myself, so you will have to trust me on this- Jessye is a Superwoman when it comes to rescuing you from hair coloring (and removal) disasters!! I usually color my own hair from a box (yes, I know...) and it usually goes fine, but this time I bought something slightly different because my usual was not available - and TRAGEDY STRUCK!!! That lovely medium auburn that I saw on the box (YES -NEVER trust the picture on the box!!) had become a flaming, fiery RED upon my head!!! Like, SCARY PSYCHOTIC CLOWN red!! Well, I have a very important event for my new job tomorrow and that was not going to do, so I got out my color corrector from Sally Beauty that I had used a couple of years ago on a previous, not quite as heinous, self-inflicted hair disaster and used that (plus some dandruff shampoo) to try and correct it. Did it make it better?? AWWWWW, HECK NO!!! It came out looking like tortured candy corn!!! I FREAKED!!! I was afraid to do anything more to it, lest it look even WORSE!! Needless to say, I decided to seek out professional help. One of my friends and her daughter had their hair cut and colored at Ulta in Concord some time ago, so I decided to look it up and see if they did color correction (or more like triage, in my case!!) Lo and behold, they did. I anxiously called the Vallejo store to see if they could help - and they were more than willing to, but they did not have any time available until tomorrow. Raven was very kind and understanding and referred me to the Fairfield salon, telling me to drop her name (I hear she is a hair color savior, as well!) I called the FF store, told them Raven had referred me, explained my situation, and they told me to come in around 4:30 to assess the situation. I was so thankful that they'd even see me in the same afternoon in which I called! I crossed my fingers and waited until I could go there and see them. I arrived just before 4:30, went to the salon counter, and explained who I was. Wendy immediately called Jessey over to assess the situation. Jessye took me right to a chair, and after I removed my ballcap and ponytail of shame, took a close look at it. She was very professional - she did not recoil in horror or shame me in the slightest! She initially recommended for me to wait a day or so to have it corrected due to the color remover, but after I told her I have an event tomorrow, she thought a bit and presented some options but said it would be tricky. She told me what she thought the best option would be, showed me some photos of what the predicted outcome would be, and asked if I wanted to proceed- of course I said yes, please!! I could not go to the event tomorrow with candy corn hair!! Throughout the process she was professional, light-hearted, and fun. And in the end I had GORGEOUS fall (NOT Halloween) hair !! She did a masterful job of blending and camouflaging the weird horizontal stripes and splotches of flaming red that I had inflicted upon my poor hair with a warm, coppery brown. It is shiny, has depth, and is something I am proud to show off tomorrow at the event. Today, over a week before Thanksgiving, I am giving thanks for the expertise of Jessye - hair savior extraordinaire!! Today I went to Ulta Beauty Salon, I usually go to the Vacaville location, but decided to go to the one in Fairfield for the second time. Long story short, I show the stylist (Erica) a picture of the pixie cut that I want and request a hair dye as well. Upon completing the haircut, It does not look like the picture so I ask her to cut a bit more, and decide that it is good enough. She then tells me that she is done....I notice that she did not clean the dye that smeared all over the side of my face, and back of the neck... until I pointed it out to her and asked her to please clean it off. The stylist then attempted to clean it but it was not coming off , she asked her coworker how to remove it and her coworker told her that she had to have taken it off upon washing my hair because that dye is not going to come off easy now that its dry on the skin. She rushes to get several items/make up remover from the sales floor and very worried starts rubbing that on my skin...some of it comes off but not the majority. I am concerned because the haircut that I got is a pixie cut, so I can't cover the dark brown dye all over my neck. I am running really late for another appointment I have, so I ask to speak to the manager. The manager (Marisa) came over to assess the situation. She very quickly became defensive and said that there was nothing she could do. Her words..."I can only offer 10% off, but know that we don't do stuff like that and next time I wont give you a discount. " she was extremely rude and bothered that I had even spoken to her. She kept insinuating that she was going to go out of her way by giving me a 10 % discount. I asked her that if this was her situation how would she feel? she said she understood but she kept telling me how she was overdoing her kindness this time but not next time, I told her that there wont be a next time. She is holding a position she can not handle...at this rate, Ulta Salon will lose customers for sure. I am not a person that likes to write reviews about everything....only the stuff that is straight out unacceptable. I refuse to go back to this salon for anything, I would rather spend my money elsewhere. Customer service goes a long way, and she was lacking those skills and was very rude. Leaving one star although I wish it could be less. I currently live out of state however while visiting in Fairfield, I stopped in to this location with my 14 year old sister and friend while we were waiting for our movie to start. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. We were in the store for about 15-20 minutes looking around, specifically trying on fragrances and as any women knows looking for that perfect scent can take a little time. While we were smelling around we were not engaged at all since being greeted at the door. We came in looking for a travel size roller fragrance, since I was traveling I wanted something easy to carry around. Again within this time frame besides being greeted at the front door we had ZERO customer service. After some time I decided on a fragrance, it ended up being a full size bottle Givenchy, $75! We took this bootle to the cash register to check out, I also had a birthday coupon for a free mini lipstick or something like that so I also wanted to redeem that. Once we get to the register the manager on duty Cora rings us up, she very short with me as I was asking her the difference to between two scents as if I was bothering her I let this slide and figured maybe she was having a bad day. Then as am I'm getting ready to insert my credit card for payment she randomly asks my younger sister if there was anything she wanted to purchase. My sister said no, I thought that was odd that she asked her when I was the one making a purchase. She then asks my sister again "Are you sure there isn't anything you want to purchase?" Again my sister says "No" I then get involved and ask Cora why does she continue to ask her if wanted to make a purchase. I quickly catch on! Cora goes on and claims she seen my sister put something up her sleeve?!? My sister shook her sweater and said I'm sorry but I didn't take anything! Cora then says are you sure yet again. At this point I'm a little upset. This women is accusing my sister of stealing when if my sister wanted anything she could have just asked me and I would have purchased it for her. I spend hundreds of dollars in Ulta every year and I promise you I will never shop there again especially not at this location! I will gladly be shopping at Sephora! If at all during our visit if we would have been engaged or if Cora thought she seen my sister put something up her sleeve why wouldn't you customer service us on the sales floor? CUSTOMER SERVICE DETERS THEFT CORA! Do Not accuse us of stealing when I'm clearly purchasing! This just really made me upset. I get asking questions but after the first one when my sister responded with a no, she should have moved on. My sister was completely embarrassed she's 14 years old her first time in Ulta and now her experience is ruined as well as her self esteem. She was accused of stealing! How terrible is that. I hope that Cora gets the proper training she needs or gets out of retail because this is unacceptable. You can't just accuse people of stealing because you "thought you seen something."
