Ulta has been in the Gravois Bluffs plaza for years. They offer both name brands and off brand products. Lots of staff to help and give suggestions. Their return policy is decent (I just recently had to return something for the first time in all these years). Instead of saying excuse me the employee TOLD my mom to move HER customer needed to be there at her register. The employee had left to go help the other customer and when she came back she went in front of the counter to tell my mom this instead of going behind the counter and politely asking my mom to move. Ulta is the best of Sephora and Beauty Brands. Like Beauty Brands, they have a salon and hair products. They have $3.50 off $10 purchase coupons available online and in mailers. However, they're quite a bit larger than Beauty Brands. Like Sephora, they offer lots of premium makeup. Unlike Sephora, they're not located (inconveniently) in malls. They also offer some brands that are available at stores like Target. I really like this because it saves me a trip to Target. I've always loved Ulta, but I've noticed the last few times that their customer service is seriously slacking. When I use to go I wouldn't have any issue at all when I asked for the workers opinions on products or recommendations on new ones, but I couldn't get anyone to help me at all in this store. I had two employees tell me to wait and they would find someone to help me. Then, after waiting over 15 minutes both times, I finally gave up. They are the absolute WORST. I have been in here two times, and both times felt like I was an invisible misfit. They did not acknowledge me whatsoever, despite the fact that it was obvious that I needed help finding something (for over an hour). HOWEVER--the teenage through early-twenties girls, upon walking through the door, were greeted with "Hi, friend!!!" (or buddy, sweetie, etc.), along with "Happy Valentine's Day!!" When it was finally time to check out, I stood directly in front of a cashier who, again, didn't know I existed. Ulta, you provide nothing but a hurtful, sad experience, and I will NEVER be back. I went there to exchange something and the manager was so rude and condescending. She asked why I was taking a product back and when I gave her my reasoning she started arguing with me basically telling me that I was wrong. I was like a kid in a candy shop when I found out that an Ulta was opening in Fenton, which is now the closest location to me. If you go here and walk away without buying something (or being able to find what you are looking for) then honestly we need to have a talk. Ulta is the mecca of beauty products. They sell their own brand, which you can get at a great price or get a steal of a deal when combining their coupon with their advertisements. You can also find your normal name brand cosmetics here and they almost always have a great deal on them as well. They have you covered with anything having to do with anything with beauty. You will save money by shopping here and you will continue to come back. There is a point system so you can accumulate points for every dollar you spend at the store. These add up quite nicely. I go here for my facials and haircuts. Jenna and Alisha are fantastic. Unlike other estheticians, Jenna is so friendly, but doesn't try to converse with you during the entire treatment if she picks up that you'd rather be quiet. She lets you know what she's doing as she does it, makes sure you're doing okay, etc. but doesn't bog you down with asking you a million questions about your life and your opinions while you're trying to relax. This is a HUGE plus. She doesn't ignore you, either, by just plopping you in the chair and getting started, as I've heard some estheticians do. Also you get an arm massage during the facial...I'm starting to sigh, literally, right now, just thinking about it. Alisha always somehow figures out what I want to do with my hair even though I have the explaining ability of a five-year-old. She also lets me know what condition my hair is in. I didn't get my hair cut for what was probably several years and Alisha cleaned it up without any problem. I used to think that if your hair was long, it didn't make any difference if you had it cut regularly; was I ever wrong. My hair looks so much better for Alisha's skill and tips. The only downside is the fact that during sales a lot of the best brands are excluded. I don't mind the prices all that much; it's high-quality stuff, and they do carry the regular, less expensive brands as well. However if you're a Rewards member it really pays off, especially if you get salon treatments there regularly. read more

I wasn't even inside the door frame before someone from behind the Benefit counter barked at me, asking what I need help finding. I told her I was just browsing and thanked her. Then, not two steps later, ANOTHER salesperson asked me what I needed. She was right there when the first person talked to me! Within less than 90 seconds (because I timed it, since this has happened before), FOUR people hovered and bothered me, sometimes even after being told I didn't need help. My experience here was amazing due to the associate Mirela. I would recommend that everyone asks her for help if need be. She helped me find the right products for my oily and sensitive skin. I walked in being upset about my broken out skin and left with two amazing products and a great attitude about my skin. Mirela was so helpful and made me feel so great about myself! She was so friendly to everyone and made the environment so much better. I'm so happy with what I walked out with and I give all of the thanks to her. She took the time to test a primer, foundation and powder on me which led me to buy two of the three products. I have to say that I had a wonderful experience at Ulta! I had a short haircut that needed shaping and I was afraid to lose more hair. Julia took the time with me to look at the pictures that I had taken of the hairdo that I wanted. It was going to take me some time to get there, because it is a longer cut, but Julia shaped it up as a shorter version of what I wanted! ! I also wanted to have a silver, blonde and purple color and they absolutely rocked it! I took three times coming in there to get the color the way that I wanted it, but Julia and the manager Alicia (hope I am spelling that right) would not give up until I was happy! I have not gone to Ulta before because I had heard that they were expensive. They may be more money, but they are worth it! read more

I went there to buy a chelating shampoo to help with the hard water buildup on my hair. Ended up talking with a salon manager who was very knowledgeable and I ended up coming back to get a cut with Jessica. I also got a clarifying treatment which totally fixed my hair! The Manager for the Salon Alicia called me and spoke to me about my issues and offered me a refund and was very friendly and apologetic. Alicia and the district/regional manager were there when i went to get my refund yesterday. Alicia was again very nice and professional. The other manager seemed to not be so friendly and made some comment of how strong my daughter was....idk if that was in reference to her going to therapy both speech and physical and not really believing what i said to be true but it sure felt like it. My daughter is strong because of the work we've done for 5 months and can move her head any direction now thank you and chokes alot less now but still has to have a procedure done thank you but she wouldn't know anything about that since what my daughter has is very rare so maybe she should just stick to working at Ulta. Alicia was the best part of this experience. You can tell she is genuinely nice and cares about the clients. I hope she moves on to even bigger and better things. I normally love Ulta. However, this location STOLE my ULTA rewards points...$133 worth! I noticed my balance was significantly lower than when I last checked and saw someone used 2200 points at this location. Ulta is supposed to check ID when redeeming more than 1000 points at a time, which clearly didn't happen. I live in Ohio and have never even been to Missouri. Ulta's customer service did refund my points but it still doesn't take away from the fact that someone knowingly stole points and could take yours too! read more

I had been getting my hair done at this salon for almost a year now with no complaints, but on August 31, 2015 I had a completely different experience. The Master Stylist I usually see is no longer with the company so I got put with Evonne and that was the beginning of the END! Long story short, I went in for a routine root touch up and a hair cut/trim. FOUR HOURS LATER, yep you read that right 4 HOURS LATER (no cut either just color) I left with severely damaged hair that was FRIED at the roots and tips. To top it all off they even charged me for the train wreck job they did... but they gave me 20% off, woohoo. It was THE WORST hair experience I have ever had in the past 10 years I've been going to salons. Also, not one, not two, but THREE people had to work on my hair because Evonne did not know what she was doing and she was DOUBLE BOOKED. I had scheduled this appointment 3 months in advance mind you which apparently didn't make a bit of difference. If you have healthy hair and you don't want it to be severely damaged and you don't want to have breakage than I advise you to RUN, RUN AS FAST AND AS FAR AWAY from this salon as possible. Also, if you go into your local Ulta Salon and your person no longer works for the company - LEAVE!!! read more

This place is beautiful! I have been trying to find someone who can do a good perm...I found her. Tara just did my perm and it looks fabulous! She also made it seem like she really likes to do perms. Usually people give me the feeling like they really don't want to do them which can result in not so good results. Been there but not this time! She did awesome! I have been going to ulta since it opened and am a self-admitted beauty product nut who can't leave without spending at least $150. I was also using this salon with a master stylist; however, my fifth (and final) visit did me in. I don't know whether she was busy or what, but the $160 I paid for my color (no cut) resulted in a red that I loved (until it all washed out within 2 weeks)!!!!! and yes I was using sulfate free products -- I'm well acquainted at my age of what will ruin a color job. If she was going to take the time to do the job, she should have taken the time to seal it (particularly since I'd asked her to during the appointment) Highly disappointed to say the least and will never use or recommend the salon at Ulta again. read more
