Everyone who knows me, knows that I am an Ulta addict! I'm pretty sure at any given point I've put a few Ulta babies through college. Walked in and I was immediately greeted, even though the associate was ringing someone up, big plus. This Ulta is pretty big, much bigger then the locales in my hometown, which was awesome for me. My only gripe was that there were hardly any associates working there, and the ones that were never bothered to come up and ask me if I needed assistance they all kind of just glanced at me and kept it moving; if only they knew how much I was willing to spend... that turned me off, so I left without purchasing. I LOVE Ulta, but the Crofton store's staff leaves A LOT to be desired. On two occasions, I've gone into the store and they act as if they are doing me a favor by even allowing me to breathe the same air as they are, never mind help me find products that are never fully stocked on their shelves although they have them. Then, once they realize how crappy their service has been, they try to be disgustingly sweet. Two things: it isn't the MAC store and "fabulosity" is relative, so you should focus more on the customers and less on how "cute" you think you are! read more

I visited the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre, Gambrills, MD location and I was extremely disappointed with the quality of service or lack thereof that I received. I've never been to an Ulta store, so I wasn't really familiar with how to navigate, but the collateral for Men's products was pretty clear and made them easy to find. I was looking for a particular beard conditioner by Jack Black, along with a couple of other things. When I entered there were three Sales Associates who looked up as I came in, but said nothing. I went to the Men's section, looked for the beard conditioner and didn't find it, but saw several other products that I was interested in. As I was browsing, several more Sales Associates passed me, some of them approaching other customers, but most of them canoodling with each other making small talk and the like. I found the atmosphere to be not guest-focused and somewhat pretentious - it seemed as if no one wanted to offer me help and as if my business was not wanted. I left the store, without making a purchase, passed several more Sales Associates, without one of them saying anything to me. As a member of the service industry, I come into contact with many people that would potentially shop at this Ulta Beauty location. I will make sure to direct my customers to places where they will feel like their business is valued. read more

Cool store. Lots of cosmetics from high end to low end. Usually have some good package deals. They have a great selection of salon shampoos and hair products. It's really great when they do specials. Don't bother worth the salon. Got a pretty good haircut and booked a second appointment with the same stylist. Arrived to find out she had quit a few weeks ago. No appointment in system. Offered an appointment about 5 hours later, not at a good time for me. Spike with manager on the way out. She offered to comp me later appointment. I choose to go elsewhere. read more

Great selection, but customer service is legit the most important to me. I was in the store looking around, browsing but I also wanted a specific mascara and left after 30 minutes of not even being greeted. I'll continue to shop, just don't expect too much help or advice read more

I just think customer service could be a little better when I ask about the quantity of an item I was told that supposedly they checked this morning and they didn't see what I was requesting but another customer right behind me came up and asked and they made effort to go look to see if they had item in stock read more

Great selection of cosmetics, skin care products, better nail polishes (Essie, OPI), fragrances, and beauty tools. The staff was friendly and helpful when I visited - no hovering or harassing. I love that they sell Urban Decay. Can't wait to go back and buy more crap I don't really need. read more

Very happy with my salon service (color, trim, round brush blow out). Sam in the Waugh Chapel Ulta did an AMAZING job with my hair and she is super nice. I just wanted to hug her when my hair was finished. Love it!!!! read more

They need to work on their customer service. Blonde short haired lady seemed noticeably unhappy.

Not really a fan of the staff. While I did receive help, I felt extremely talked down to and bothersome when asking for a shade match or differences in brands. There was an eye roll and a sigh when asking about cruelty free and when pointed to a brand I wasn't aware of, it was almost embarrassing as to how the conversation went from there on. I just felt like a child being put in her place. The front counter also wouldn't take no for an answer when asking for my number after a couple tries so the whole thing just turned me off. I got what I needed and spent a little more than I meant to, so I guess they did their part. I'm not entirely happy with half of my purchase as it didn't cover the concerns I specifically requested, but I can't blame that totally on the saleswoman; my skin just sucks. I think I'll just go back to what I was using and order online elsewhere from now on. read more

This place never disappoints! I'm addicted to ulta! I love how there are so many brands and products to choose from. It's a perfect mix of drugstore and higher end products for both hair and makeup. I can never walk out of here without spending at least $100. The staff there is very friendly and always ask if you need help looking for anything, which is really nice, and the cashiers are pretty fast, and there is seldom a line. read more

This place has a great selection but I only enter as a last resort. Why? The lines are excruciatingly slow, even if only 3-4 people. I think it's easier and faster to apply for a mortgage than check out at Ulta. If Ulta could figure out a way to expedite the process I would be a regular customer. read more

I went there looking for shampoo and conditioner for my dry lifeless hair. I had this one girl that works there (I can't remember her name, but she had green hair) help me and she was wonderful! She gave me great advice and insight to a lot of the products I needed for my hair type. Everything she recommended worked great! The next time I go there I'm getting her name and asking for more recommendations. In all, the staff is very nice and very helpful. I get all my beauty products there now. read more

I really dig Ulta. Their rewards program is awesome. It took me a year, but I saved up enough points to earn myself a free Clairsonic! The service is hit or miss and they don't accept manufacturers coupons (hence the 4 stars), but if you need ANYTHING even remotely beauty related, you'll find it here. My fave brands right now are Tarte, Benefit, and Urban Decay, and Ulta doesn't disappoint. They have everything you could want from top name make up brands and carry all of the drug store brands as well. They send a coupon to your house every month...usually a $5.00 off coupon, but I got one last week for 20% off my total purchase. I used it today and saved 20 bucks. Their Ulta line of cosmetics and skincare is pretty good if you are looking to a cheaper alternative to the more expensive brands. I like to come here on a week day evening since Waugh Chapel is a nightmare on the weekends. When I do, there may be 5 other people in the whole place. Just FYI- they sell hair products, hair tools, colognes/perfume, and even have a salon and Benefit Brow bar. Come here and get your beauty on!!! read more

This Ulta is the worst one I've ever been too. There are 4 employees behind the counter and none offered to help me. I came in hoping to have some help I picking out s lipgloss but the store was basically deserted! I'm very disappointed. read more

Excellent store with great employees. I have seen these folks have to deal with some real "winners" that frequent the store and they have always remained calm and did their best to develop a peaceful resolution. The staff always has a smile on their faces and I am greeted warmly every time I go into the store. And the most important thing is that as a father trying to shop for his two daughters, the staff is always willing to help me get exactly what I need :-) thanks! read more

The store is good, with a great variety of products but, I'm giving one star based on my last experience with the Salon. Have been hesitant to leave a review but I figured it could be helpful, since a couple reviews on here mentioned about the bad service at the Salon and I did not take that into consideration. I had scheduled an appointment for the first time a few weeks ago to cut and color and got a call on the morning of my appointment asking to reschedule because there was not enough time to do what I was requesting. No problem. I rescheduled for another day and when I got there, the stylist (Kelly) said she could only cut because she likes to take her time and she didn't have enough time to do color as well. Fine. I was very happy with the cut, so much that I referred her to a few friends and scheduled to go back to get my hair colored. I arrived at 6:30pm for my 6:45 appointment and saw that she was with a client. Another stylist checked me in and asked me to wait. I understand things come up and sometimes they take you in a little later. That's understandable but, when 7:15 rolled around, this other lady who had a client in her chair asked me what I was there for (she probably noticed I had been waiting for a while), I told her and she went to the back to let Kelly know I had been waiting. Fifteen minutes later, Kelly finally comes out and ask me what I was there for, I told her again and she said she is coloring another client and it would take a minute. I was already frustrated but decided to wait anyways. I was trying to be patient but, by 8pm I had lost all of my patience. The first lady (still with her client in the chair), apologized for the wait when I asked to let Kelly know I was leaving. She walked over to the front to get the manager as I see Kelly coming out with her client and didn't even look like they were done. I went up to her to tell her I was leaving because I had been waiting for more than an hour and she said it was too bad I couldn't wait, It was definitely a schedule issue and I could go to the manager to get a gift certificate. No "I'm sorry It's taking me so long" or, "Please come back at another day. Here, lets reschedule your appointment", nope. Just basically "sorry you can wait more, even though we are already 1 hour and 15min into the appointment you scheduled and were here on time for, I'll blame it on somebody else, go get your consolation prize with the manager". I didn't even wait for the manager, but I did expect an email with an apology. Nothing! I work at a place where we deal with scheduling people all the time. Mistakes happen, I get it but, I wouldn't be upset if she had given me a phone call when she noticed that there was a "scheduling issue", or if she just had the decency to come outside and let me know she was going to be late and offered to reschedule or continue to wait. That's common sense, and basic customer service etiquette. Ulta should definitely choose their employees better if one of the main things they are supposed to have is good customer service. Update on 05/02/17 The store manager contacted me to address the issue and she recognized that the customer service I received on my last visit was bad and even offered a service at the salon free of charge. I thanked her but refused. I appreciate anyways that she reached out to me to make it right but, will look for another salon. read more

Sam in the salon is the bangs whisperer. She put a lot of effort into perfecting my bangs and it shows. I like to wear my bangs side-swept, and she cut them just perfectly so they fall that way without styling. I rarely find stylists who do that well. And they even look good straight down, which never happens. My hair is also really shiny after the cut; a lovely bonus. read more
