The 1 star is because I know they give samples out all of the time to their friends. Yet, every single time I've come, I spend over $50, but have never been offered a sample. This last visit, I spent $200, while my sister spent $80. No sample. I could easily buy these same products at Sephora (free samples), Macy's (free samples), or Dillards (free samples) and get an AMAZING "Gift with purchase", but I chose to come to Ulta because it's closer to home. I have always gone to Ulta salon to get my hair cut. I will never go there again! I had made an appointment to get my hair cut a couple of weeks ago. I went into the place and said why I was there. The lady at the receptionist desks tells me " the hairstylist could not make it and could we change my appointment for either a later time or date." I said, " well I would really like to get it done today." I had other plans the following days, so the only other day I could do it would be Monday. I then said "there is no way you can fit me in now." She flat out said "no" when I walked in she was just standing there lookng on the computer, not really doing anything. Needless to say I was livid. I had never been trerated that way at a place of business. I walked of and put my hand in the air to wave her off and said "ok, cancel it!" I know other people heard me because their heads turned. I did how ever go to Super Cutts in the same shopping center and got my hair cut by their manager who was wonderful and met every ounce of my needs plus, I saved ten dollars. I had placed an order online and sent my alternative person for pick up. JESSICA who was working at the time close to 10:20pm attended my friend. Customer service was horrible, she was disrespectful and I was on the phone with my friend who went to go pick up order. She was giving him attitude and refusing to provide assistance. Made an appointment to get my hair colored. I like the setup at this location better than the Goodyear location. The stylist did a good job and talked me into getting a leave-in conditioner. I never feel like the color lasts as long as over-the-counter dyes so not really worth the money in my opinion. I also bought a peel-off charcoal mask that works great! read more

out of ALL the ulta stores I been to this one is by far the WORST one I been too ! I took my cousin because she got an email with a 20% coupon off ! And when they were ringing her up Alexis the employee rudely declined my cousins coupon with no explanation why without even looking at it, then RUDLY moved on to the next customer then came back and forcefully grabbed the phone to scan and it went through !! I've loved Ulta for years. The Ulta brand is great for the money. I have nail polish, eye shadow, gel eye liner, blush, and tinted lip balm from them and I love it all. They're good for guys too. My boyfriend has purchased cologne and hair products before. For beauty needs they'll usually have you covered. I say usually because sometimes they can be low in stock. Honestly, the person that did my hair was nice. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said she can do that. She did tell me a disclaimer saying that since my hair has red in it, it might be close and not exact. I said that's completely fine. She bleached my hair after she tested it and strands broke.. (so I'm not sure why she bleached it) and then we get started. The picture I showed her was a balayage with the roots coming to at least her eyes. It had blonde in it. So we get started. Something that should only take 4.5-5 hours took 7 after she turned my hair green. She didn't know that since my hair was dry BEFORE the bleach, it would be really porous. Okay, cool, I understand that. She must be new. Nope, she's told me she's done hair for 10 years. So after is all said and done my hair is green the manager is helping her fix it, and the only difference between what I have now, and what I wanted is it is no longer red. (Besides my hair being way drier that I've ever had it). Then after the 7 hours and I go to pay, they of course didn't charge me the fixing, but I had to pay $250 for them to take out the red and that's it. And then the manager gives me 2 complimentary color removal treatments. Which is supposed to help go back to natural color. WHY DIDNT THEY DO THAT FIRST INSTEAD OF BLEACHING AND DAMAGING MY HAIR?!?! Never going back. Not even for that complimentary items. Not worth my hair falling out from more damage. Actually I take that back. I still have red in my hair where she decided to just pretone it before anything else. She decided not to bleach that part of my hair. Which is the top of my head so easily visible. This was supposed to be a birthday gift from my husband. I don't get another and I regret asking for this. read more

I've limited the times I go to this specific ulta, only because the staff never seems to want to help. They either have an attitude, or try to avoid helping. The times I did go, even with someone walking the floor I've had to go up to the registers to ask if someone would help me. And customer service reps (when calling in) are just as rude and not helpful at all. I'm upset with the service I seem to always have the luck on getting. read more

I have been to the salon 3 times now. Had a lip and eyebrow wax. A keratin treatment and then yesterday a deep conditioning for my hair and a haircut. Lindsay was awesome. Took her time, I didn't feel rushed. Gave me the best haircut i've ever had. She is very knowledgeable. Knew exactly how to work with my hair type. The prices might be a little higher but they only use the best products and the stylists are trained for higher end services. Definitely worth it. My hair has never looked so good!! I am absolutely fed up with the staff at the store. In the 10+ years i think that store has been there, I have always been treated like crap. I walked in today and not greeted. Walked around the store, put a couple things in the little shopping bag and I was looking around for something in particular. Walked by people and never once did anybody ask me if I needed anything. So, after 30 minutes of being in the store receiving dirty looks from the staff and no attention at all, I casually walked around and put everything back. I walk up to the door and put my bag back on the rack while there are two sales associates right there at the door. Neither one of them said a word to me as I walked out. She hooked me up with an amazing Foundation, a primer, and skincare products that all help me with my oily skin problem. My skin has never looked better. She is amazing at her job. This it the nastiest ulta I have ever been in. The customer service sucks and it's dirty!!! Not messy but straight up dirty! There's make up smeared all over the displays and the makeup is all dug into. There's foundation crumbled on the floor. They don't have anything in stock and it's a total nightmare. I had to walk out because there is no way in hell I would buy anything from this place. Just gross!!!! This place really needs an overhaul and a cleaning crew. So today ulta is doing 10$ facials and hair cuts for breast cancer , cool. Walk to the back ask about the facials to a rep in the store. She turns and asks one of the stylist in the salon. Replied it's a micro facial. . . Just looking at me (like waiting for more info) so I ask "ok what does that mean?" So they look at the brochure haha at the desk to tell me what it is. It's a 30min facial. But they cut it in half because of today. (Which means that the advertisement which they told me is incorrect ...) So in I still wanted to sign up for a facial. I'm former employee at ulta {aesthetician} so I ask to make a appointment, which they replied they didn't do. I just wanted one for later in the day. But no. They didn't even offer me app for any other service with the skin part of the salon. Just said it was walk ins. For skin??? Now that's not fair for who ever is the aesthetician now. That her team has zero idea on what services offered or would at least offer a appointment. Or that sales associates have no idea what services are offered in that department as well. That sucks. As I was in that same shoes and couldn't say anything. But it drew up the old feeling so I writing to ulta on northern and 101 that your team is unfair to a department. And your expectations for that position suck if a team like yours works as they do. I just wanted to help someone in my industry, instead have to turn away. Because I didn't have time with that hour to wait. But I did tonight. That's why I wanted to make a appointment. This review is for the salon. The store itself, I've never had any problems with them. Yes, some items have been sold out but hey, when it's popular you have to be quick or um.. I don't know order online where it's guaranteed? Anyway. I called to make a same day appointment and I was told I was going to have an appointment at 4pm with Maria. When I got there at 3:47pm, no one acknowledged me or anything until 3:58pm. Considering I've worked retail before, it's crappy customer service to not even acknowledge someone. Even if that's not your job. I saw four stylists, I know two saw me and not one said anything. Then I get acknowledged and told I could sit in one of the chairs and I wait another five to eight minutes. Maria comes and she tells me that she wasn't even told about me. She had no idea I was even coming. That ticked me off because I should have known better to ask who I was talking to because I would have told her off. Maria tells me she's with another client and needs another hour. I'm exhausted from a long day and I contemplate if I should stay or go somewhere else. Somewhere between thinking about it, I dozed off. When I woke up, I figured I might as well stay. It was about 5:20pm when I was finally getting my hair started. I'm pretty satisfied with the hair color I got from Maria. She was very friendly, honest and talkative but not the kind where you'd wish they'd shut up. Also, she spoke very clearly. I have the worst luck with hair stylists and nail techs, they always mumble or speak quieter then a mouse. Not Maria, thank god. Maria's service is five stars for me. The reason why it's not five stars above because whoever answered the phone made me wait over an hour and half because they failed to communicate with Maria. And the fact that I was not greeted or anything while I stood there when I first arrived (Maria was in the back, so she wasn't even out in front when I first came, she doesn't count). And finally, Ulta's price. Good god. I've never spent that much on my hair before. I know I'm a cheapo but geez. It sucks too because I do want to go back and get more purple in, in 4-6 weeks but $141.00? Not too sure. When I went in, I was expecting at the most, $85-$100.00 dollars. Yes, I did ask Maria how much at first and she said about $111.00 but not including some of the stuff it'd take for my hair to get to purple burgandy. But still, that's insanely pricey in my eyes. I mean, it's not Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive. For reference, I do have long hair and I had various shades of red and brown before I went in. My only tiny complaint about Maria was that she didn't do my bangs right when I've gone to get my hair trimmed at Fantastic Sam's for $18 and they do my bangs better. But I'm not really holding it against her. Other then that, she was great. I just hope I can save enough money and maybe not have to pay that same amount or maybe much much less. read more

I've been to a lot of different Ulta's and this one NEVER has anything in stock. NOTHING. And whatever they do have in stock it's either messy or opened, or the least popular shade/formula. It's annoying. Even if I wanted to test things out to maybe buy online or have them hold it when it does come in, I can't because all their samples are disgusting as if little kids went in and messed with every single one of them. The lipsticks are never in the right place and almost melted or broken. Eye shadows are smeared everywhere and mixed together. Foundations are all dried out and gross. Not a good shopping experience. Literally hated my whole experience here. Was supposed to get the $75 cut, color and conditioning special only to find out that I had rushed to get the deal and would leave spending $120. My hair also came out bright orange and when I went back into to get it fixed, the stylist tried to tell me that it wasn't orange and I had to practically beg to get it "fixed" which meant turning my hair back to the way it looked before I had even got it done in the first place. Hated my whole experience and will never, ever get my hair done here again. read more

This store has the worst customer service EVER!! After shopping here for more than 10 years I will never return! I went in and asked for some suggestions on shampoo and conditioner as they didn't have my usual shampoo in stock anymore. The girl I talked to suggested a shampoo and told me to give it a try for about a week before making my decision. It has been a week today. The shampoo made my hair very oily and gross. I took the receipt and the shampoo bottles back to the store to return them. I was told that "too much" shampoo was missing and they wouldn't return it. I told the girl that I wanted to talk to a manger and she said she was the manager. I told her that THEY are the ones that suggested a shampoo and told me to try it for a week and now they wont honor their return policy. She said that HALF of a liter was gone and that was too much....there was about 1/4 of the liter that was gone...what an exaggeration! Not that my purchases matter to them, but they just lost my business. I will never return to that store again.
