I am writing this review for the sole purpose of commenting on the long lines. While every other part of my experience has been just fine, the lines are always unbelievably and painfully long. Truly, it is mind-blowing. I visit this Ulta location regularly, during different days of the week and different times of the day and, for some inexplicable reason, the line is always so long that it winds through the aisles. I have to wonder if management pay any attention to this horrendous issues. Are there not enough cashiers? Are the cashiers inefficient? Why is the floor staff not called to back up the cash registers? The list of questions could go on and on and on - much like the line! read more

Every time I come to this store the workers stare at me and follow me around. It makes me feel super uncomfortable as if they think I am going to shop lift. I will not be returning to this store. OK, I have given this store 3 chances. No bueno. First time, had the coupon and did some Christmas shopping, it was fine. Got a good deal on Stila lip glosses, which I am still using. Second time, brought my daughter in, we bought some hair product. Nobody helped us, nobody asked. The line was verrrry slow. Third and final time, we went in and I was accosted by a beautiful young lady with perfect eyebrows. She proceeds to tell me she can show me how to shape my brows. I tell her I am hesitant (I have thin-ok shaped brows naturally) because everytime people do them , they use dark brown filler and I look like a cross between Groucho Marx and Mommie Dearest. She assures me: "oh no... it won't" She pulls out the filler-- I tell her it's too dark--Oh, no she says: "it's perfect, you'll see." She fiills in my brows, exactly how I have instructed her I DON'T like them. I tell her I no likey. She wipes it off and offers a discounted eyebrow shaping. Now here's where I get the Stoopid Award: I say OK. Maybe I was hypnotized or somethiing. Or I thought I'd end up looking like her (She was really beautiful). Now, her ASSISTANT starts in on my brows. I express concern. Ms. Beauty says: "Don't worry....I'll be right here." It takes FOREVER... she's waxing, she's tweezing, one brow, then the other, then back to the first brow again... I'm getting worried...Can I see? No, not yet...mmmmkay.......... I look in the mirror, they're fine, whatever. I'm tired. I've been in the seat for 45 minutes. I buy the stupid brow filler. CAUTION!!! They may be OVERCHARGING you! This Ulta used to have a sign on the outside of its doors stating that it had been caught overcharging. I do not know why the sign has gone missing because they are still having issues getting it together. I have been overcharged on three separate occasions now. 2/3 I caught before I got home, so okay not that big a deal. Each time a difference of a dollar for some reason. The first time was on Essie nail polish. When I realized at the counter this time that I was overcharged, I thought let me go home and take a look at my receipt from the other week because I purchased the same item but in a different shade. Sure enough I was overcharged. The sign says 12.99 and it rings up as 13.99. The customer service leaves much to be desired. When I brought it up to her attention initially, no apology was offered for the misunderstanding and inconvenience. I even mentioned how that had happened to me before with nail polish. She didn't say anything. She gave me what was owed and that was that. When I got home to see I'd been overcharged, I decided I would just go back and return the whole stupid thing. I went back and got the same exact lady. I told her what happened and she had nothing to say about it. She just processed my return and that was it. I'm sure she doesn't care at all that I'm annoyed, but she could at least say a fake "sorry about that." I don't understand what's so hard about changing a tiny paper sign. So after perusing the glitzier stuff which includes brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced, Smashbox, Laura Gellar, Benefit, CArgo...I deciding on my pricy eyeliner and was able to get my usual cheap $9 mascara w/o making a trip to CVS. I'm still in shock over the disrespect I received today from an associate by the name of Anwar. I tried to return 2 items that took about 15 minutes to do, because they had to keep calling the manager back and forth to help the employee that was helping me, while the manager kept taking other clients at the same time. When I stated that I thought it would have been much easier if the manager could have just stayed and done the return herself, another sales associate (Anwar) turned around and commented to the person that was helping me, and said, "oh don't worry about it, you're doing fine" then turned to me and said, "you're being aggressive, I know you're Arab" (which I'm not.) I've never had anyone be so blatantly racist to me. She said she's Arab and she knows I'm Arab. I don't know why she thought I was Arab, and why she thought it was ok for her to say I was being aggressive and threw race in there. Then she proceeded to walk around the store talking about me to all the other employees there, which was very unprofessional. I was pleasantly surprised with this ULTA. My very first visit today.. I walked in and everything is neat, clean, and ORGANIZED. I was greeted by the friendly female manager. she was even mopping the floors herself, I commented on how clean the store was compared to the other Ulta's I've been too, she was very thankful and also agreed. I told her all the shelves are stocked up and i found everything, (except for one Biore item i was looking for) QUICKLY. meaning nail polishes were in the correct place, i didn't have to look very hard to find the item i was looking for. "Yeah" with both hands in the air palms facing her.. so USELESS that guy! he then assists me at the register again, TWICE, once at the beginning for a return, than the second for a purchase. the first time he greeted me, and was looking at my receipt for a good 2 minutes, so i was thinking he was lost, so i guided his eyes to the item on the receipt where he then said, "Yeah" Okay then, wth is taking you so dang long?!! now the second time, he was checking me out, I bought $170 worth of skin care and make-up... after he rang me up he went straight on his cell phone, yes folks, he busted out his cell phone in front of a customer, only problem was.. i wasn't done with him yet, i asked him where my free gift with purchase was (smashbox brush set, free w/ $40.00 purchase) he says. "Oh" ..he turns around to retrieve it, then just puts it in my bag without saying a word and returns back to his personal phone.. I had an upsetting and concerning visit. I came in to this store due to having received a promotional coupon. I was excited that it included prestige brands. Once I found my fragrance I headed to checkout. I waited about 5 minutes before 1 of the 3 cashier even acknowledged me. She said are you ready to check out very rudely. She practically raised her voice. I said yes. I thought maybe she just had a strong voice but I was wrong. She asked for my number and I gave it to her. Than she asked me if I wanted to apply for a credit card, I politely declined. But she didn't take no for answer. I felt so uncomfortable because she would continue to say things like oh just apply, even if you dont get approved youll get the discount. I said no about 5 times. She than said i could call if i changed my mind after doing the application to cancel it and it would be removed from my credit. So many lies and desperate responses. I felt so harassed. The worst part is after she understood I wasn't interested her attitude changed for the worst. I told her I wanted to use my coupon and without even looking at it she shut me down and rudely said it doesn't work on prestige brands. I said okay, I understand. But then I read the email and it did include them except for chanel which was fine since I was purchasing Carolina Herrera. I asked her to please scan it and she dismissed me right away and said no it won't work. I didn't understand why I kept on getting dismissed. I had my baby with me so I didn't wanna argue. I said okay, i thanked her and left. I went online just to confirm that this coupon would work on my purchase and guess what? It did. It worked. I was so upset that I didn't get taken serious, that I was practically harrased and that the employee didnt know what she was talking about. I got the impression she didnt want to be working or she was upset over me not applying for the credit card? This makes me believe that only credit card holders get taken care of. That is not okay. It's unfortunate that this is the lowest I can rate this store. I spent almost 8 hours in the salon for them to completely ruin my hair. Aside from the horrible color my hair is now severely damaged to the point where it is barely brush able. I understand that color does take time and even multiple visits. However I strongly feel that if a stylist knows they do not posses the skills to reach the desired results at some point they should be obligated to say so. Aside from the bad day in the salon, the "Store Manager" Stephanie is the worst person to work with. I still paid for my service because I tried to be fair to the stylist. When I got home and saw the damage in my hair and took everything in I was really upset. I called the Stephanie back and she actually started yelling at me on the phone. "Well I already told you you could come back for a redo" was the response I got. I told her I did not wish to return to the salon and wanted a refund. I was back at the store with-in 20 mins, only to find the manager yelling at another guest. I waited for their interaction to conclude, I was honest and tried to show her the damage to my hair. She started yelling at me again, in which I told her she was being unprofessional. After dealing with all of her eye rolling and sighing, she starts yelling at me that i'm a bully and that she's so offended. After everything she started to play victim. I did not yell, or swear at her. I've worked in customer service my entire life so I never want to be "that" customer. But this is just another level of bad. Learn from my mistake. I have been going to this Ulta for years and getting my eyebrows done. Unfortunately the gals who used to do my eyebrows are no longer with the company and I was recommended to Liz who I was told was great. Great is the complete opposite of what I got. The woman is horribly unorganized. The actual service was okay. I could have gone to any nail salon and received the same service I got from Liz. My first encounter with Liz I was a walk in. She was on her lunch break and I was added onto the appointment book. As she returned she took another walk-in ahead of me. When I mentioned I was next she looked at the book and said she would take me after. Annoying minor oversight. I return after she had finished that first gal and she had taken ANOTHER walk in ahead of me. At this point the manager stepped in and apologized for me having to wait longer than I should have (45 minutes). To avoid this situation again I made an appointment with her for February 13th at 1040 am she even wrote me in on the appointment book and gave me an appointment card (which turned out to be useless.) Fast forward to February 13th. I arrive for my appointment and advise one of the customer service girls I'm there for my appointment. She goes to the book and advised me I'm not there. I show her my card for my appointment and she apologized to me and said there was a mix up And the earliest they can get me in that day is 2pm. At this point I told her 1) that is unreasonable. I made the appointment to avoid the previous situation of having been skipped over to begin with. 2) it's not my fault the women is god awful at scheduling and cannot keep an appointment to save her life. Needless to say I'm never returning to this location for any services. I'm so disappointed with how poor the quality service has gone down. read more

I've gone to ulta for years, getting makeup as well as getting my eyebrows done... but never have I been so disappointed. I had my eyebrows done by Liz, who I was told was amazing. I believed what an associate had told me and I was shocked when I finished my service at the brow bar that a huge chunk of skin was missing between my eyebrows, and when I told Liz she said it was a normal reaction and went directly to the paper I had signed for the service and was like "anyways we can't do anything it says here in the papers", as she takes the papers with her. I went to tell another associate what happened but she was already telling her. So I was waiting to see a response, there was none. I never feel judged at any ulta for not wearing makeup when I go in and it's always a good experience. Today however I was kind of disappointed that they didnt have an item in stock. For whatever reason I decided to ask Pilar at the register and she looked in the back, for quite a while, and came back with the last lip pencil they had in stock. To be honest, I haven't been to an Ulta in years. From what I remember, the employees weren't helpful and it seemed like the low end makeup overshadowed the bigger brands. I order most of my makeup directly from companies online or visit Sephora. This Ulta is vibrant, and the employees I came across were friendly and genuine. I was helped by Gabby from Clinique and she was amazing. She color matched me perfectly, which has been a challenge for me in the past. She was super sweet and made me feel comfortable talking about my skincare/makeup needs. I picked up a foundation and makeup wipes from her, plus a new palette from Morphe, Mario Badescu toner, and Urban Decay eyeshadow primer. A very rude woman behind the counter with short red hair snapped at me very abruptly and said,that came out last January, we have been out of that for months. Then went about her business. Placed an online order for pick up yesterday Sep. 10th. I got a confirmation email. Then got an email that my order was ready. 20 mins later at 3pm I get to the store... and it's CLOSED! No sort of sign with an explanation as to why they are closed 4 hours early. I called the corporate number and they as well couldn't tell me why they were closed. Had to go to the West Covina location and spend another $100 on my products and was told I'd have to call the store the next day to cancel my order. Yes there is a fire but Kohl's, home depo, sam's ect. We're open! Was told today when I called they closed early due to the fire.Why was the beauty store closed due to the fire in Azusa. I came in for eyeliner. The brand I like one fine line by baremineral, Ulta no longer carries. The sales associate tried to help find something similar and couldn't find anything. The sales associate suggested I use a brow liner that looked pretty similar. Was happy. Took it home. Tried it on. Did not go on smoothly at all, stretching my eye skin out trying to get it on. Ok so I went there bc I wanted to spend some money hehehe :) so I went empty minded lol and this worker (Nelson) (I love him so much) asks me if I needed any help so I asked for foundation and he helped me find a good one, that's perfect for me (color wise, and I didn't want full coverage so that helped out too hehe) then he helped me find a good concealer, and translucent powder as well. He was giving me good tips as well as being nice and playful with me! He's such a nice person :) The reason why I'm giving it 3 stars was because they didn't really have a lot of stuff, and everything was all over the place (not messy as in things were more harder to find) the high end stands were kind of scattered, and it was pretty hidden. This lady was talking to me and I don't her I didn't really like urban decay and she ended me. Lmao that's okay though, it shows she's passionate about the brand and makeup in general. She was giving me facts trying to change my mind, but one day I'll turn into that side lol all in all I received excellent customer service I just didn't like how everything was so scattered. I wasn't able to enjoy my Ulta visit, because the staff kept following me and my mom. We circled about three isles and this lady who worked there (tall, brown hair w/ bangs, aged) was talking to the other staff as she was following us. She had the nerve to literally stare at us with her arms crossed (with an attitude no worker who's job is too help people should have) as we were grabbing our foundation. None of the staff were helpful enough to come up to us and ask a question, they just decided to talk about us. This was just unacceptable so we bought an eyebrow pencil and just left to prove we didn't steal anything. Also, they were watching us as we left the store.
