Debated on this one about rating. Honestly it's relating to the cost of items that have shot up recently. I'm not sure if Ulta is maintaining the same margins selling items from suppliers or what but an item just a few years ago that was $5 is now $9.90. Little adjustments like this on everything add up. Very rude workers!, was in perfume isle and bigger white lady was following me and my friends around the store and they were profiling us and clearly assumed we were stealing given we are teenage girls, as well as giving us rude looks. We were having a good time minding our business and one of the other staff was giving us dirty looks and started to mock us and laugh, she asked us what's funny and was giving attitude that was very uncalled for. Service has gone from bad to worse. Will not shop at this store.or salon. Most horrific store and salon experience ever!! My scalp was burned with a hairdryer and humiliated in front of the store by a girl who takes pleasure in doing so. The cashier Emmerson (who goes by Emmi) was very rude, verbally abusive. She announced to the entire store that "you return too much stuff. You have no points because they expired. You are not platinum anymore due to not buying much and returning". When I said "you are rude, thanks for humiliating me" She responded "My Pleasure". I am a minority and this inappropriate behavior was clearly intentional. I am Platinum and for context returned 1 item unused. I did spend nearly $100 at the store on hair services. This girl should be fired. Mckenna who usually does a good job burned my scalp with the hairdryer and fried my hair. They no longer have complimentary flat iron touchups. She said they "updated their prices". She wanted to charge $30 for a flat iron touchup that takes less than a minute. No longer a good value for salon services. Will not go to this salon ever again. Update. Spoke to the only manager on duty at the store after the appointment. Seemed more concerned about the employee Emmi, than me the customer. Escalated complaint to Corporate, where the District Manager wanted to hear about my experience but did not offer compensation for the salon experience until I asked to do so. Initially, she wanted me to go back to the salon for deep conditioning. After that, I won't be setting foot in that salon or the store. I asked for my money back. She wanted me to return to the same store and give me cash! I ended up driving to the next nearest salon which is nearly 20 miles from and did get a refund. read more

The sales women here are awesome! I've shopped at the Tukwila, South Hill, Lakewood & Tacoma Mall location (they closed Tacoma btw). This is my favorite location. The girls are so down to earth. I don't feel intimidated asking for help. I observed one girl having her makeup done. The artist was so mellow & didn't rush. She gave pointers and I could tell the customer was enjoying it. The one flaw is that it's a small store so this trip they were out of the popular colors but it's also the week after Christmas. I'll be back nonetheless. Plus it's in the Issaquah Highlands shopping center so it's close to lots of other stores & restaurants. Fun to make a day of it! read more

This one-star rating is for Ulta's terrible exchange policy at this location. I purchased some foundation from Ulta.com during a sale, and when it came, I realized I'd purchased the wrong shade. I took it to this store to do an even exchange for the same foundation in the correct shade, and the store refused to honor the sale price I'd paid. They said I could return the foundation (at the sale price) and pay full price for the new foundation, but I couldn't exchange it for the same foundation in a different color. (This was the EXACT SAME FOUNDATION, just in a different shade.) I thought this exchange policy was really odd. Almost all stores will let you do an even exchange for the same item in a different shade or size and will honor the sale price you paid. (Source: I worked at a customer service desk for a department store for two years in college.) I usually shop at Sephora instead, and this experience made me remember why! I ended up just returning the foundation. If I'm going to pay full price, I'll do it at Sephora (a place with outstanding customer service). read more

Backstory: I had a regular "brow lady" at a small salon close to my home. My mom and I had been seeing her for quite a few months now and would go in every 4 weeks for a brow wax. On our last scheduled appointment date, she called and cancelled on us because she wasn't feeling well. Since my mom and I had a last minute family emergency to attend to, it was fine and I figured we would reschedule. Called in the morning to find out that she isn't there anymore and the rest of the salon was booked! That's what lead me to the ULTA Benefit Brow Bar. I was working a short distance away and called to make an appointment for my lunchtime. Although they only had a 12:20 when I called, I said I couldn't take lunch until 12:30. The girl on the phone wrote me down for 12:40 and said they would fit me in. Showed up a few minutes early and Diana got me right in her chair. She was super sweet. Diana removed my makeup around my brows and cleansed my skin. She told me that she would draw an outline first of where she was going to wax so that I could take a look and be sure I liked it. She showed me in the mirror and explained why she was waxing where she was. The shape and everything looked good so I let her go ahead. She took her time to make sure each part of my brow was done right. She also tweezed a few strays and trimmed my brows down so they weren't too long. Basically, everything I loved about the lady I had been going to and more! I love that I got to see the shape outline before she started. It made me feel more comfortable. When she was done, she put some concealer on the red spots so I could go back to work and nobody would be able to tell. Will definitely be back for Diana. read more

The shape of the eyebrows was fine but not surprisingly took way too much of my eyebrow off. ...so much so that she literally tore off a patch of skin the size of a pea. She asked me if I use acne treatment on my face and that is why my skin tore off. She didn't say anything when I told her I don't use acne treatment. So I starting getting my hair done by Stacia at the Ulta in Tukwila and then she moved to Issaquah. First of all this store is kept up better than the Tukwila one and the staff are really nice. Stacia does great hair, enough for me to commute from Renton. They also have a Brow bar and Diana is the best! They were having a special for skin resurfacing under the products of Dermatalgia and Shana was the anesthetist and she does great work, so now I travel to get my hair, brows and facials done here. read more

So the store was clean and organized but some of their items were out of stock and they only had 2 staff onsite to help. I had to navigate myself around the store to find the makeup brands I was looking for. I was looking for the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea eye liner and they didn't have it yet but had the Tarte shape concealer. There were 2 cashiers at the register that were helping one customer who was making a return while I waited patiently in line. Even after the 2nd cashier was done she just ignored the fact I was in line waiting to check out and was just acting busy when finally she called us up to the register after waiting. My wife and I visit Ulta occasionally to pick up various products. They have a very good selection, and the staff is always friendly. We have had a couple of less than positive experiences that knocked a few stars off. There have been a few occasions where they haven't been able to honor coupons. My wife had her hair done in the salon, and she thought the all-over highlights were not natural looking. While foiling, the stylist clipped my wife's hair out of the way very tightly to her head, giving her a headache. We purchased Christmas gifts from Ulta's website that took a week to ship and didn't arrive on time, and it was a pain to return them to the physical store, but the cashier did her best to make good on it. Overall they have an excellent selection, and if you know what you're looking for and have a coupon, it is good place to pick up products. read more

I had a brow appointment at the Benefit Brow Bar with Jennette the other day! It was my first time working with her. I heard about her from my sister who sees her regularly. Because my sister's brows looked so amazing I've been wanting to get in with Jennette. I had some time that worked with Jennette's schedule and I was FINALLY able to experience the glory of having my hairs ripped off my face. Jennette made it painless and pleasant though. She was very professional and did an amazing-amazing job on my brows! They weren't too thin and her attention to detail was impressive. HIGHLY recommend her. I'm hoping to get in to see her again but because she works Monday through Thursday the times are a little limited with my schedule...but I have to figure out a way to work around it. I have been in three times and am overall pleased. They have a very large selection of everything. That said, I wish they had more information on hairbrushes - kind of like a description when you buy wines. It is one thing to get the info from a sales clerk, but I like to read descriptions on my own sometimes. I sometimes have felt overwhelmed and am not sure how to solve that. McKenna did my hair and she did an INCREDIBLE job. I have very long thick hair that I'm a little wary to let just anyone cut and she listened and cut my hair EXACTLY how I wanted it. Definitely consider her if you're considering layers. Tip: if you're using an offer or promotion tell the stylist BEFORE she does your hair The rest of the girls seem nice enough but it seems that most girls at this store have that subtle "I'm-better-than-you" attitude which can be a little frustrating when you're asking a genuine question.
