My wife had her hair colored by Casey. Apparently, it's "Normal" to have her hair dyed brown and turn two different shades of orange. After dealing with the repercussions for several days, I spoke to Maggie regarding a refund. Maggie was courteous and spoke about the chemistry of hair which I do not understand. I appreciated Maggie's professionalism and she informed me she would have the manager call me. The whole crux of this place is to get you going there over and over again, costing over $100 each visit. I told Maggie this was never explained and we would not be returning. Due to the extreme damage it caused her hair, I wanted a refund. Follow up: Carissa the manager called my wife's phone and I answered. Carissa refused to discuss the matter with me citing she would only talk to the client. Carissa is extremely rude and constantly talks over you. It was simple, now this has turned into something I am going to pursue in small claims court including emotional duress. If you're looking for a reputable place who stands behind their work, this is not that place and Carissa has a lot to learn about management. It's unfortunate it has come to this.... I wanted to go lighter but my hair was already on the verge of breaking; therefore, we decided to fix the orange color issue first then go lighter when my hair was strong enough again. I did have the option to go extremely light but I didn't want breakage. I also liked how she gave me different options and let me be in charge of my own hair instead of just deciding for me. I had appointment today with Casey at the salon. He has the best customer service and listen's to what his clients needs are. I asked to be a total blonde and he made me a complete blonde. My hair was damaged from bleaching and he cut my hair to exactly what I asked for I also asked for layers and he added layers that I asked for. Do not have them cut your hair! I wanted a trim, keep my layers long & get long chin length side bangs. The package I bought was a cut, glossy treatment & blow dry. Seemed simple as my hair is straight, not colored & what I wanted was pretty basic. 2+ hours later I did have the side bangs, that went from my collar bone to a little below my eyes, nowhere near my chin like I'd asked for. My waist long hair that only needed a trim to keep my layers looking fresh was now to the middle of my back, an easy 6 inches hacked off of each layer. I kept asking why so much hair was on the floor during the cut & she said, " it only looks that way because you have a lot of hair". I was there last Thursday night and the lady at the register made us wait for at least 10 minutes with no eye contact while another customer who had apparently been in front of us( her stuff was on the counter) was still shopping. If you have a gift card with a balance less than $10 Ulta is obligated by CA law to give you the rest of the money on the card if you ask for it. The back of their card says it's not redeemable for cash, but in CA under $10 is. The cashier who helped me (Angelica) was very nice about it and after I had said it was CA law another lady came over and agreed with her saying their system didn't allow it. I called the customer service number to find out how to get the remaining cash on the card. The lady I spoke to said they have this problem every once and awhile and yes, they do have to refund the rest of the money if you ask for it. read more

My sister and I came in for manicures as a birthday treat. What a great experience! They only have one nail station but when I booked it and told the salon manager it was a birthday surprise they offered to make sure we could be side by side. When we arrived they had set up at two hair stations so we could talk and enjoy our time together. Alicia and Jessica were great! They explained the products, took their time with shaping and prepping, and were a treat to talk to. We were especially pleased with the cleanliness - they were sticklers about using only clean tools, and they sent us home with the buffers and files to assure us they wouldn't be reused. And the gel manicure was super reasonable in price - $30, or $35 for French, which my sister did and it was beautiful! Email was sent back me 20 min later with confirmation that my ulta order was ready for pick up so when I drove almost 30 min to pick up my order no one answers. Kept calling and calling and no answer I called the ulta corporate to get a answer for them just to tell me all CA stores are closed and it's a "glitch" in the system on why it gives us the option to pick up curbside. I scheduled an appointment for haircut (trim) today. Met with Kayla and she was absolutely amazing !! Her personality is very cute as well! Very bubbly and knows exactly what she's talking about! This review is for the salon only. My daughter had an appointment at 3pm (forget the gals name) and an appt for makeup directly after with Maggie. We arrived on time at 3pm. We sat and waited 40 minutes!!! I asked the front desk how much longer to which Maggie replied from her chair "almost done". It's most upsetting to me that nobody ever even came and said anything to the effect of "sorry we are running behind". They just let us sit there as other appointments and even walk ins came in and were serviced right away. As we were sitting there I kept hearing the cashiers tell clients "if this is your first time in the salon you get 20% off". I was thinking to myself well at least that's a positive as it was our first time too. So Maggie rings us up after she completes my daughters makeup. She starts punching in a bunch of codes, asking about a tip, etc and then proceeds to tell us our total is $200!!!! I almost shit my pants because I was only expecting it would be about $100 or less. I then wonder why she is not offering the 20% off I've been hearing the other gals offer for the past 2 hours so I question it. She then gets semi irritated and utters something to the effect of "next time you need to tell me before I enter the work order because now I have to redo it all." (Like I know that ) So she redoes it with the discount and now my total is only $100. Like a 50% difference. So idk what the hell she did and I don't think she knew what the hell she did either but it's whatever. I didn't dig her attitude at all throughout our whole experience and I will not be back because of that. The other workers all seemed very efficient and friendly towards their clients though I must admit. Then after we left on the way home she called me to tell me we forgot to purchase (optional) the lip stain my daughter had on. Each person has their own subjective point of view. As it stands from a customer service prospective and a first time experience, I will not be coming back to an Ulta store, let alone this one. There was no welcome greeting even walking into the store. I thought how odd it was. Two associates were talking amongst themselves and completely ignored my daughter and I as we walked past them. We went around the ENTIRE store with no offer of help. We stayed in the store at least 15 minutes before I grabbed a couple items I knew and used before. I am newer to the whole beauty scene and would have loved some guidance. I grabbed my couple things, which were ELF items. Nothing fancy. Finally after walking around the make-up section for a bit, I decided to leave. Walking to the cash register section, a female associate looked down at the items in my hand, looked at me, smiled and kept walking past me. I thought, "wow, that felt like some serious judgement." At the counter, the associate didn't say Hi or how are you, nothing. She said, "is this it for you?" I said yes. She asked if I had the awards program and I said "no, it's my first time in the store." Nothing from her again. She gave me my total, asked if I wanted to donate, which I did. Then, she gave me my receipt and said, "have a good day" very softly. Finally, as we were walking out of the store, a young man by the door told us, "thank you for stopping by and have a great day!" As we were leaving, mind you. I'm not sure what the customer service policy is at this place but wow. I took my sister to the Benefit Bar to get her chin waxed. She had been talking about trying it for a while, but didn't seem to make it on her own, so I took her as a birthday treat. Sienna, who helped us, was very meticulous. She also had good technique, because my sister didn't feel a think. One of the reasons she has hesitated before was because she had been told it hurt so much. The whole process too about 20 minutes. We were already a fan of benefit products. Now we are a fan of their services. I would definitely give Sienna five stars. I have one major quibble. The Benefit bars are front and center in the stores (at least the three I frequent). So if you have a service, you are too. I like a little privacy when I'm having something done, so that bothered me a bit. I also have an issue with the overall service. Some of the ladies are really nice and helpful. Others make you feel transparent. You never know what you are going to get. Still, I love make up and beauty products. So I will keep going in and hoping for the best. read more

I am an Ulta lover. I used to live in Tracy and would go to that Ulta ALL of the time. They were the best. So helpful and polite. When the Ulta in Manteca opened I was pumped bc it's so close to me. Sadly I'm so very disappointed by the absolutely rude, incompetent staff. I have called ulta corporate and complained about the staff multiple times (I'm not the one to ever do that)! Like some of the other reviewers, the staff lacks basic customer service skills! At my last visit, I had an employee color match me and I asked if the foundation would cover my dark spots and she looked at me and responded as if I had some type of disease and quote "oh I hope I don't get that!" WHAT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Thanks. A LOT. Really. I used to work for sephora a few years back and rocked it. I knew how to cater to every customer and their needs. I had a very strong customer return base and knew my stuff. Most importantly, i was extremely empathetic to the customer (something these employees need to work on). Thankfully my background knowledge doesn't require me to have much interactions with their employees. Unfortunately I have to bow down and still go to this location versus tracy due to my laziness of driving 15min versus 3.
