Second the staff and managers are all very rude they stare and follow you around as if you're stealing something! Although this store is very clean, well organized, and well stocked, the employees seriously lack even the most basic customer service skills. Upon entering the store today I received no greeting even though there was an employee in plain view. That's fine, I can deal with that. I've been coming to this facility since its been open because I get my eyebrows waxed from Leo he is a perfectionist and the best I've ever had. I called today to make an appointment with him and the employee had told me that she doesn't know where he is and that he is no longer there. I don't understand how they wouldn't know where one of their best employees had gone to. I walked in and had no idea what look i wanted but i needed to look more polished and professional. We talked for a few minutes and he asked me questions then he gave me his ideas. I will never return to the salon at Ulta. I waited over 45 minutes for my stylist "Julie" to arrive. When the manager called her she said she wasn't aware she was working. Then to top it off it was a terrible blow out. The general manger Brittany was very apologetic and only charged me $10, but I would have much rather paid full price for a great job. After spending a good 15 minutes with an associate in the hair salon, not on the phone, in person, explaining exactly what I want, she gives me a quote, in writing, on a business card. I made an appointment with her, in two days. I get a call from them telling me she has called off but someone else can do my hair, no problem. I get there a few minutes early, checked in with an associate, then waited another 15 mins (past my appt time), no one told her I was there. 1st no-no in customer service. So the new girl asks me what I want, I explain to her the same exact thing I told the other girl. Exactly!! 2nd no-no in customer service, they told me they can't take what someone else has quoted and wanted to charge me an additional $57. After talking with the manager, she was no help. Today Casey finished toning my hair after another salon left my dark brown hair brassy with golden highlights. I wanted a balayage, something natural to compliment my dark hair and give it dimension. He saw what was going on and two weeks ago color corrected it. My hair didnt want to take the ashy brown the first time. But Casey did not give up. Today he performed a miracle! I love my hair! It's still dark brown with beautiful ash brown balayage. It looks so natural. He was amazing! I haven't had my hair touched since moving here 6 years ago. I trust him fully and will stick with him! Two days in a row I got nothing close to what I wanted at the Salon. I trusted the girls in the back with the hair gloss and it came out black instead of a light brown. I asked another girl how long the color is supposed to be left in the hair she said 20 minutes but the girl who did the gloss left it for a whole hr. The next day I had an appointment for hair and makeup. For my hair I got curls done which came out super nice but I had so many fly aways and this was for a photoshoot. My makeup was absolutely horrible. The girl who did it caked me up with a lighter foundation that made me look so white on my face when I told her what foundations I use and in what colors. I honestly wanted to cry. From far away the makeup looked okay but up close it looked so white and blotchy. I decided to trust her because of reviews from others and all of her years of experience. I came in for my appointment and was greeted by her at the salon immediately. She's very kind and attends to her guests in ways I've never seen customer service. She has so much knowledge about hair and products to use. She went into detail about everything with my hair and what will be done and how to maintain afterwards. She was processing another clients hair but made sure to attend to us both and as well as help the shoppers inside who had questions on hair products. I've never had a more relaxing and nice experience getting my hair done. She makes you feel so comfortable and she's so easygoing. She's not one of those awkward hairstylists that just does your hair and is quiet. You can tell she has a passion for what she does and she makes sure you're happy as well. This location is known for having poor service but I like to try things about before making an assumption. I booked an online hair cut for 5:15 with Maggie. I got to the store extra early did some shopping around when I finally went up to check in about 5:05 I waited the 10 minutes for my appointment since they did inform me she was on lunch. It was 5:15 and she hadn't came out I started to get impatient but waited ten more minutes it was 5:25 and she came and informed me she'd be out in a minute. I waited 5 more minutes it was 5:30. She sat me down I informed her of the hair cut I wanted she told me I had picked the wrong one online and didn't have enough time since her next appointment was up. She put my hair back in my ponytail and tried to set a new appointment. I politely waited for her card but I will not be coming back. Leaving work early was not worth this time wasted. This a review for the store not the salon. I went in on my birthday planning to pick up a foundation and possibly an eye shadow palette. They don't carry Estee Lauder in this store location. That's fine, so I go to look through the shadow palettes and they were out of the ones I wanted to get. So I go look through the drugstore side and a lot of the shelves were bare. And they didn't have the same brands they have on their website. Like Mac, Morphe, Wet n Wild or Milani. So I get to the register and I couldn't get the birthday gift because I didn't get an email and yes I'm all signed up and everything. read more

It's not like they don't help you find the item that you're looking for, but if you're looking for make up and to try it on and to get questions asked about it I don't think Ulta is your place. I have always been a sephora shopper and i have never been to a ULTA store before so when i noticed that there is one being built across the shopping area from where i lived, i excitedly thought i will check it out once opened. I finally did. I walked in and there were associates randomly infront of the door, some were at the aisle restocking items. No hello, no eye contact. Just nothing. I started walking around and checking out the items they have and i noticed they have a section of some of the items i see at sephora, and there is an area for items from usual stores (target and drugstores). I think that is nice, to be able to choose and still be able to get something not too pricey. And that is what the one star is for. I was able to get some tony moly items and some mask, liptints, toner and primer. The whole time i was shopping, i was asked three times if i needed anything and when i said im ok, i was still followed around by 3 different associates. That made me really uncomfortable. Did they think i was gonna steal something? I hurriedly went to the cashier to pay for my stuff and to cap the rest of the uncomfortable and insulting experience, i waited in line for a while because there was only one register open, but 2 other staff were there just standing and talking. Next time i want to go shopping for beauty products, i will go back to sephora---- and if i want to go to ULTA, i will drive out to tracy or dublin or any branch, but i will stay away from this particular branch. The staff here seemed to be "bipolar" : either snubby or too "clingy" but neither is really helpful. read more

Today while I was shopping, I was approached by one of the esthetician who convinced me to get a facial. I've actually never gotten a facial before so I cannot really comment on the quality of the facial compared to other places. I paid $57 for a hour long facial that was suppose to decongest your pores and included a upper body massage. The esthetician was really nice and explained most of the stuff she did along the way. The massage was very relaxing as well. I was disappointed because when I came home I realized that not all my pores were "decongested." Also half way through my facial, the esthetician starts asking me if I'm on any medications or trying to get pregnant without really explaining why which I found very odd. After I was done with my facial, she tells me to finish answering the questions in the pamphlet that were suppose to be answered BEFORE the facial. It makes me feel uncomfortable that she asked questions about medications etc while the facial was going on instead of asking beforehand. read more

Came to Ulta for the first time ever in December to buy my daughter a gift certificate to have her hair colored and cut as a gift for Christmas. We made the appointment with Casey because she was going to have a very important interview And needed to look professional. He did a phenomenal job on her hair! He was great choosing just the right color that would fit her and look professional yet still young. I went with her and was so impressed I went yesterday and had him color my hair. We had so much fun I even had him put light pink in my hair. This morning when I got up I thought he did such a great job I wanted to go even darker pink so I went back in today and he graciously added darker pink. When I posted pictures on Facebook for my friends and family they were amazed at what a great job he did. He was so much fun to be around yet professional and even showed me how to style my hair so that I could do it at home. Can't wait to go back probably next month and add more color! All the staff that I came in contact with from the ladies at the door greeting me to the stylus in the back were all extremely nice and very friendly! I highly recommend Ulta in Manteca! read more
