I made a 10 am haircut appt with Raushana Legree, which tuns out should be the first appointment of the day since 10 am is when the store opens. I am the first customer to walk through the door at 10 am. I make my way to the salon to find Raushana already has someone in her chair. I check in, and tell the receptionist I'll be perusing the store while she wraps up with her current client. Rashauna was aware I was there, she saw and heard me check in. After 30 minutes of patiently waiting, I decided to leave. Extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate of other's time. I ran into the receptionist on my way out and she asked if I had not been called at all. I told her no and that I would just go somewhere else for my needs. She apologized and I said no worries. This is my go-to Ulta. Sometimes the stock gets patchy on newly released products, but that's pretty common everywhere. The store is clean, well maintained and well staffed and it's very easy to catch someone if you have a question. I usually book my brow appointments with Jimmy. He usually takes me early since I always show up early and greets me and let's me know if he's in the middle of something. He always does a great job on my brows to get them the exact shape I want them and consults me if he isn't sure about certain areas. This review is for the Ulta Salon. I made an apt on April 7th for April 8th. My apt was for a trim and a touch up of my layers. I arrived on time and my stylist took my immediately. She was very sweet and I thought we were on the same page as for what I wanted to achieve- a tiny trim and layer touch up. (I've been growing out my hair for YEARS and stressed I didn't want to take any length off). Not only was length taken but my hair was completely botched. Like, it looks like she just took scissors and went at it with no end goal in mind. She chopped off all the length in the front of my hair, almost giving me a mullet. Its crooked and all over the place. It's atrocious. I'm devastated. Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember my stylist name, when I get it I'll come back and add it to my review. I will be going to a different salon tomorrow to fix this disaster, if it can be fixed. I will not recommend this hair salon to anyone. read more

Excellent service! I am the type of person that has always been super reluctant to get my haircut. Most people that I have gone to either don't listen to me or don't know how to cut curly hair. It has been over a year since I had my last cut and my hair was in HORRIBLE shape. My friend recommended coming into an Ulta beauty, not this exact location but she said her service was phenomenal. Long story short, I booked a last minute appointment with Denise. Ya'll she hooked my head up! She was very friendly and honest about my hair. We ended up taking three inches off, which adds to 6 inches for curly hair. She did an amazing cut, blow-out and flat iron. My hair feels amazing! I will never go to this Ulta Beauty location again. I could not find in the entire store anyone to help me find what I was looking for. Furthermore, I applied for the Ultamate Rewards card here and they were not even going to give me the gifts for applying until I reminded them. They then found a tiny little random moisturizer bottle to give me. My friends have applied for the rewards card at other location and received an entire bag full of sample products and even some full size products. Definitely regretting coming here and applying for the card here. I feel so cheated. read more

First of all I have always loved ulta. I spend a lot of money there. Shh don't tell. This location is the absolute worst. On several occasions and yesterday ,when i went and spent over $100 on products, the cashiers were openly talking about how stupid customers were. Apparently one gentlemen tried returning something without a receipt or a membership and they told him they could not help him. As he walked away they all laughed at him. He probably won't be back. Next, there was a promotion going on and I tried to ask five people which products apply to the promotion. I even brought up the website and showed them. The manager came out and said "um I am not sure, but not those products." I showed her she was wrong and the products did apply. She smirked and walked away. They left me standing there to figure it out myself or just "don't buy it" as they told me. What is wrong with these employees? Do they not know how to treat customers? I will not be going back to this Ulta and I warn you to not waste your time. A very good alternative would be Ulta Carlsbad. The employees were amazing and super helpful. They also know the promotions that are going on and don't look at you crazy. There are a lot of immature employees at this oceanside location and they need to get it together. Otherwise we THE PEOPLE will be taking our money elsewhere. read more

Needed some hair products so came here to pick some items up. I'm a club member so I frequently get mailers/deals in my mail, which usually prompts me to come in. I walk in and there were a couple girls at the front conversing about personal business. There was an awkward silence as they stared at me so I said "Hello". It was at that time when I was asked if I needed help finding something. Evidently, they were too involved in conversation that I didn't even want their help. As I perused the aisles, I noticed that lack of product in the store. Almost empty shelves and barely any price points. I couldn't find signage for a lot of products I was reading up on, so decided to defer further purchases. I browsed for my hair products and checked out. Weirdest employee... two kept harassing me as if I was stealing lol it was so uncomfortable I was first looking at perfumes where one with reddish purple hair seen me and started talking about me through her mic . So i decided to just go grab the foundation (nars) where a girl came up to and all I asked was a simple question where she looked at me like I was crazy ... she said I have to color match you because that shade is wrong. Her makeup didn't even look nice and she had the nerve to talk about mine. Then recommend me the most expensive foundations and I just gave her a look and said I'm ok. She was so rude. I normally come to Ulta to get my beauty fix on and can't resist trying out their new products especially when you can use a coupon on a majority of their products and rack up those points to where you can use them towards money off on your purchase. I wish they still had it where you could use your points towards the salon, but I was a bit indecisive on what style I wanted my hair, so I missed out on that. However, I've never been to their salon though and decided to try it out because they had a special for $30 for new guests to the salon. What I loved is that I could make a same day appointment with only a few hours notice and this is very advantageous to me as my week changes constantly and feel as I'm canceling appointments more than going to them. My appointment was at 4 and Denise was available right on time. I needed to get my hair done ASAP so I wasn't particular picky with the hair style just as long as she thinned it out because "big hair don't care" doesn't apply to me! It hurts my damn neck! So I do care! All in all the hair appointment took a little more than a hour and there were many interesting surprises! She actually only cut my hair and didn't thin it out but it felt so light weight! Although my hair to me is short, I know it's still long. Also she never used any hair product other than hair spray and it was so shiny and fabulous! My mind was literally blown! I'm not a hair guru and very challenged when it comes to drying your hair with a blow dryer. Painfully awkward! I'm going to try and use less product. So I guess less is more. Denise was super friendly, had such a great attitude, and even though time was of the essence it didn't feel rushed! Definitely coming back here for my next hair cut! read more

Ulta, we need to have an understanding: Sometimes we all get a little desperate for human contact and strike up conversation with strangers on the barest implied situational causality. There's a time and place for that and it's called a bar and generally only after a handful of beers and an equal number of hours of self affirmation. Or denial and desperation. I get those confused. Now as a fella who really likes this place for it's vast selection of grooming products (guys, gendered shampoo is not a thing, not get caught up on the marketing ya testosterone weasels) I found myself here a lot, but Ulta-good-god-yall I am not here for drunken bar-conversation that I didn't ask for at desperate-o'clock. I've been coming in less frequently and ordering online more and more because I can't step foot in there without having the people that work the perfume isles flinging themselves bodily at me like moths at a campfire who are just tired of it all. A big long winded pitch about the specials that you make them say-never letting me get a word in edgewise is the start of it. And I collect fragrances so you'd think of all the people in the world I wouldn't mind speaking to: it's them, and they make me want to fling myself into the same campfire to escape their saccharine enthusiasm that frankly sounds like a cry for help. Sales associates: blink rapidly if you need help! There is a way out of there! But then they follow you. My most recent visit had the front area woman following me all the way to the back of the store excitedly pointing out the clearance racks and asking if I was shopping for my wife or mother-hey newsflash hunny, I like the way Lancome smells on my skin. Treat myself-leave me alone. I had to firmly state no less than half a dozen times as I walked with purpose towards the beard grooming products that I didn't need help. I knew what I wanted. I was shopping for me. IM FINE JEZUS! This happens every time. I don't know what corporate or management is doing to you gals when the doors are closed to make you thirstier than a pug at a salt convention but for the love of god calm down. My girlfriend and I love coming in here, they always have a large selection of beauty products. Everyone has been extremely helpful each time in explaining the different products and the benefit of using them. Just today we were looking into the Clarisonic system. Looking into the different models, we had no idea what was what. Luckily one of the associates was nearby and saw we looked confused. She was extremely helpful and got us into the right system. My only issue if I had one is the lack of some products, but I believe that to be fixed once the wonderful Christmas season has passed. read more

I was really disappointed with my last visit to this location. I came in to get my color matched correctly (I've always used smashbox in TX and my tone has changed since moving back to Cali)... so I walked straight to 2 ladies standing in the make up section and asked for help. They both said yes but stood next to eachother and didn't budge then finally the pregnant one approached me and I asked if she could do what I needed and she instantly said "I don't know much about that foundation." ???? Sooooo after an awkward moment she goes towards the Smashbox area and grabs what she felt was my shade. Tried it on my check and it was too light and instead of her finding a shade that matched, she asked me to wipe of the make up and grabbed the foundation she always uses. It actually looked good so couldn't be too mad but then I asked her for a concealer, she completely was clueless. Said a bunch of different names and asked the other lady who was jus as clueless. Then they were like "you could find one from Nyx" and pointed me in a different direction so they didn't have to help me anymore. In between that.. I did reach for friendly conversation, it was nice and short. Mind you... I'm a Cosmetologist and was able to spot everything they were doing wrong. No formal introduction, no primer before she added the foundation, no real product knowledge shared, etc. I was better off having my cousin who was with me provide the services. Fast forward... the store had 2 huge metal shelves in middle of store which anyone would mistake for a clearance rack due to the unorganized over load of product. Two ladies and I both thought this so I asked a lady and the cashier and she was like nooo and smiled in embarrassment as if it wasn't the first time she was asked that. Sooooo when I went to check out, I did an exchange and right when my cashier was almost done I asked if I could apply a coupon and she had stopped me and said it was too late. Store wasn't busy at all so I have no clue why she couldn't fix it or apply it for me. Anyways... I've been a customer for Ulta for a very long time and this by far was the weirdest and most unimpressive experience I ever had at a location. When asked to use thinning scissors, they completely ignored the request because they "personally don't believe in using them" and proceeded to cut way too much off while the hair is still dry. I'm a makeup addict! I go here all the time and could spend hours looking at all the products. I love the reward system they have I always get $ off my purchase! From Revlon to Urban Decay the makeup selection is awesome. My only complaint would be I asked an associate to locate some clear brow gel for me not in the high end section and she said there was none -_- however when I was standing in line I found an Ulta brand clear brow gel for 8 bucks. There's usually plenty of conditioners, but no shampoo! They will say they are coming on a certain day, but they don't! Had a really great experience at this Ulta, it's a little out of the way but I refuse to give the San Marcos location any of my time or money. I was immediately greeted by two girls behind the register upon arrival and I headed straight to the Benefit cosmetics section where two other girls were eager to help. I was looking for a foundation that will work with my oily skin. The small blonde girl that didn't have a name tag was SO nice and helpful. She tested 3 different foundations on my skin and gave me her best advice which lead me to purchase my new best friend! ($36) I loved that she wasn't very pushy, even when I asked the price of the bronzers and mineral veils she told me $30-40 but recommended I get something less expensive such as Revlon or Maybelline. Really appreciated that! I searched and searched for the NYC makeup but couldn't find it. It's very cheap but it's the only liquid eyeliner I'll wear. After not finding it, I asked the girls behind the register if they carry it and they told me they used to but no longer. I'm really amazed at the contrast between this store and the other, I'll definitely be coming back here the next time I need to. read more

When my favorite ULTA store in San Marcos was recently out of something I needed, they called this store to see if they had what I was looking for. They said they did, and would hold it for me. So I made the long trek in rush hour traffic only to wait in a long line and find out that not only do they not have what I need, but they don't know anything about the phone call saying they would hold it. No apologies, nothing! Just we don't have it! Stay away from this location at all costs! It's just not worth the hassle! read more

I give Jessi 5 stars. She has been working on my hair this whole year. I get a re-touch every 2-3 weeks, a haircut every 2 months,  and color every 3 months. Jessi pays great attention to detail and has a special touch when it comes to my hair which is not as thick as it was when I was younger lol. All the girls are fantastic and awesome with  their customers. It's fun hearing them laugh. Everyone's so happy!  Staff approach me when I walk into Ulta. The cashiers up front have exceptional service. They're all nice ... they ask how my service was and/or ask me if I found everything I need. Parking is not too bad if you make your appt early or later. Ulta is between Tilly's and Michaels so you can go shopping afterwards if you want. There are also restaurants across the parking lot. I recommend this Ulta to anyone. read more
