Be mindful that having an appointment does not guarantee you will be attended to at the designated time. I took my child for a haircut and deep conditioning at 1:15 PM, arriving early at 1:00 PM. However, the stylist (Makayla) was busy with another client. Fast forward to 1:45 PM, and we decided to leave since it was clear the stylist was far from finishing. I felt frustrated because the stylist didn't even take a moment to apologize for the delay. It seems this salon disregards your time and schedule, yet if you arrive just 10 minutes late, they will cancel your appointment, claiming you're too late. I am completely disappointed.

    Walk-in makeup help

I would like to shout out MJ who was working today. The last time I was at a different ulta beauty, no one talked to me. Today, I was trying to conquer my social anxiety and go in to finally get makeup. I haven't used makeup before so I didn't know what I was looking for or what I needed. MJ passed me asked if I needed anything and I asked her if she could help me find a foundation color that would look good on me. She was amazing. She dropped what she was doing, gathered some foundations and we sat down at the table and she tested some foundation. Then she asked if I wanted concealed, bronzer, blush everything. Asked if I needed brushes too. I wasn't sure what I wanted for the bronzer or blush so she literally gave me two different options and did them on half my face so I could see my options and which one I liked. Then she walked me over to the brushes and helped me find the brushes that worked best. She was super nice, super respectful and super patient with me. I seriously appreciate her. Thank you for making this experience so much better. I walked out feeling happy and like I got everything I wanted.

First Salon hair cut with some bangs
    Faatima M.

I've shopped here a hand full of times over the last 5 or 6 years but I have never been to the Salon they have in the back of the store. My oldest really wanted to cut her hair and add some bangs, so I thought why not ask around and see what the community has to say. My greatest concern was her curls! Not all hair dressers know how to cut or trim curly hair and I've unfortunately have had several bad experiences from an uncounted salons who either cut way too much or decide to cut my hair when I needed just a trim. But after speaking with a friend and verified the person who they recommended, I made an appointment and her new style turned out great! Anyone who is looking for a funny, kind hearted person to do their hair should ask for Lisa. She is fantastic and I will be bringing my other kiddos see her, once you find a gem it's difficult to give that up. Because of covid they don't have much seating while you wait but one of the mangers allowed my girls to sit out of way close by so that we could all stay together. Much appreciation for that accommodation, I didn't want to leave her alone why we wondered the mall. Please continue to do your part and stay safe and healthy out there. Until next time my friends

I think the picture says enough

This was my first time getting a haircut at this Ulta location. I have been to a few others and have had a good experience. The girl who cut my hair was very nice but probably new. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted, simple short bob (about jaw length, slightly longer) with slight texturizing in the back because I have very thick hair. Red flag #1: The first cut was way higher than I had asked for. She put her comb at the bottom of my neck, I guess where the neck starts, and I told her just a tad higher because I had wanted a slightly shorter cut. As you can see by the picture, her first cut was about 1.5in higher than where I pointed out. Red flag #2: I couldn't point out or say anything to fix the first snip because she cut my hair with it all down at once! I told her several times I have thick hair. It should have been sectioned of. She did the WHOLE CUT like this. Red flag #3: Like is said already, and like I told her several times. I have thick hair. When she made that first cut, it pulled my hair as did the next couple snips. Between thick hair being cut all at once and what were probably dull shears it was basically hacked away. Red flag #4: I asked for a few face framing pieces. As you can see in the last picture, they didn't turn out well. Red Flag #5: She told me how she basically just fried her own bangs off I didn't say anything there at the store because a) I'm usually not one to complain and this is only the 3rd negative review I've ever written. b) I had no clue how bad it was until I got home and really started examining it. c) after the first snip the cut was done for. There was nothing that could be done except now I'll just wait for it to grow. She was a rookie with a $45 price tag. She asked no questions. She didn't feel through or examine my hair texture, thickness the way it laid before she shampooed it. She was very nice hence the 3stars. Don't go here. The headshots that I have in 3 days will be mighty pleasant for me we this bowl of a haircut

Before & after with Kristina. She got the brassy orange out with care!

This is the only place I get my hair done because of the great experiences i've had with Kristina in the salon. Came here twice so far, in March and July, to dye my hair one color. I definitly recommend getting hair done here! First experience, I wanted to get rid of the brassy orange left from a mistake at another Ulta location. My scalp was very fragile at this time, healing from a couple scalp conditions. It was a sensitive time. I needed to feel beautiful again and wanted the orange tones gone, but didn't want a hair stylist tugging and pulling at my hair in the process. Thankfully, that didn't happen. During the appointment, Kristina listened to my many requests to be fragile, brush carefully and not leave the dye in too long to avoid irratation. She was very flexible, patient, fragile and adaptable. In the end, she did a fantastic job and offered to curl my hair! I was hesistant to have heat and chemicals in my hair, so she read me the ingreidents and let me look at the bottles with no judgement. I ended up requesting light loose waves at the ends and she delivered! The waves stayed in for three days which was great :). Second experience with her in July was amazing as well. It was a last minute appointment in the late evening, one of her last slots. She carefully got my hair back to one color just as requested. A couple things I like most about her, is she's very effecient, consistent, caters to my requests with no judgement, and doesn't make me feel like I have to talk on and on. (I'm more often a quiet person and most stylists want me to chat with them when i'd rather just listen lol). The little things make a difference! I appreciated her going above and beyond to help me feel comfortable and beautiful. I definitly recommend!

I love Tarte's Shape tape concealer and so does everyone else in the beauty community!

First off let me just say that you should do your own research on the best products for your skin type so that you aren't wasting your hard earned cash on expensive products that do not work well for you. Pro tip: check out the beauty blogs or vlogs or YouTube. You can search "best concealers" or "Best brow products" to aid your research. My favorite beauty gurus on YouTube are of course Michelle Phan, Nikkie tutorials, Nikita Dragun, Emily ghoul, Jeffree Star, bretman rock, James Charles just to name a few. These beauty gurus are constantly trying new products, knows what the best products, constantly tests out new looks, knows what brands work best for what, etc. before I try out anything new, I always check YouTube to see what my credible beauty gurus have to say. Anytime I go to this ulta in particular, I already know which brand I want to purchase, I know what product I'm there to pick up and I swatch everything on my arm at the store so I can see exactly how the product is going to react to my skin. Sometimes, especially for foundation, concealer, primer, B.B. cream I swatch the colors on my arm and then I go outside to the sunlight to see which one fits me best. The representatives at Ulta are friendly and ask if I need help but most of the time, I just need help on where the clearance rack is or if I have reward points on my ulta account. It's unrealistic to think the reps at ulta are going to know what products work best for me, like they just work there. I love Ulta it always has everything I am looking for and if they don't have it, they are happy to direct me to online where I can order it. I love Sephora as well they each have their pros and cons. Some brands have exclusive products only at Ulta and only at Sephora. Thanks to the beauty community for having my back!

(Realized I forgot my review in my drafts! So I'm posting it now!)…read more I usually give a salon multiple chances before writing a negative review--unless something seriously goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, it did. I've been here a few times for lashes and once previously for hair, and my first hair appointment was great. The stylist was gentle, communicative, and professional. I loved my hair, was shown products afterward, and happily purchased them. I left feeling taken care of. This second hair appointment was a completely different experience. I was greeted by a young stylist who seemed pleasant and understood what I wanted. However, once she began, I immediately noticed she had extremely long, sharp acrylic nails (about 1.5-2 inches). While I have nothing against acrylics--I wear them myself--there needs to be a limit in a professional setting, especially when working so closely with a client's scalp and hair. She colored my hair without gloves, which already made me uncomfortable. Throughout brushing, coloring, and washing, my hair repeatedly got caught in her lifting acrylics. My hair was yanked out multiple times, and at points it was genuinely painful. Holding a brush seemed difficult for her, and the brushing was rough and uncomfortable. The shampoo experience was by far the worst I've ever had. Normally, that's my favorite part of a salon visit. Instead, due to her nails, she couldn't properly massage or clean my scalp. The shampoo barely reached my roots, yet my hair was pulled the most at the bowl. My scalp was sore for two days afterward, to the point where brushing hurt. I'm a mom of three and a full-time college student, so self-care time is rare. I was really looking forward to relaxing--maybe even reading--but it was hard to focus through the discomfort. On top of that, the stylist seemed mentally checked out, asking me the same questions twice and lacking awareness of the situation. When the service ended, she simply removed my robe and said thanks for coming. No walk-out, no product recommendations. I had planned on purchasing shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant again, but I left without anything. I still paid for the service and left a tip. After taking a few days to cool off, I felt this needed to be said. This experience was unsanitary, painful, and disappointing. My hair turned out "meh"--the haircut felt rushed, I didn't get the layers I asked for, and highlights alone don't make up for the experience. I truly loved coming here, but after this, it won't be my salon anymore. If you come here for hair services, I strongly recommend choosing a stylist whose nails allow them to work safely, hygienically, and comfortably--preferably ones that can fit inside gloves.

I booked for all over color and later was told it would be a bleaching service instead if I wanted to go lighter. I agreed to all over color and going lighter. So this was fine. I originally had all over hair color that was dark brown with naturally grown out roots (2-3 inches). Then McKenna mentioned she was doing something similar to "balayage" when the other stylist and their client asked what she was doing to my hair. I clearly communicated my preference against highlights multiple times, even questioning the stylist during the process when her technique appeared inconsistent with a solid application. Despite assurances of an all-over color, my hair developed "dimensions" and it was BLONDE with noticeable damage to my hair. I thought she was coloring my roots but she was creating "dimensions". Dimensions is not all over color. Dimensions is "highlights", streaks, and lines that's not all over color. I wanted one solid color and for my black roots to be matching the brown all over color. Does that make sense? Does that mean I want highlights? When I contacted the business via email, the owner responded. We went back and forth few times. She only offered to have McKenna fix it, which I didn't want, and suggested just toning it darker, which I knew wouldn't stop the highlights from reappearing. The salon owner's subsequent offer to explain why "highlights" were necessary, rather than acknowledging the deviation from my original request, further illustrates a misunderstanding of my concerns. This experience represents a critical breakdown in communication and trust, as I was misled about the service being performed and would have sought a different salon. I don't think this salon does lift and color method. Or the owner is protecting the new stylist's mistakes. Regardless, McKenna is busy posting on Instagram. There is a photo of my hair and titles it "Behind the scenes" like it is a proud moment for her to lie to a client rather than reaching out to apologize. She should have been saving my hair from being burnt off other than taking photos at the sink. My hair is burnt off and I'm pretty she noticed it when she was blow drying my hair. She failed to mentioned the blotches and missing hair. I did not even get the deep conditioning treatment that I requested. I did get anything that I requested or wanted! In the end, I have unwanted highlights and less hair than before. My hair color is further away from my intended goal because she ignored everything that I said and gave me brassy highlights. I requested for refund or another stylist at the same location to correct my hair. That's when communication stopped and the owner never responded again. This service totaled $270. Here's the thing. New stylist and seasoned stylists can make mistakes! But the stylist is posting on social media other than apologizing. The business owner doesn't understand why you don't want to be getting your done by the same stylists that did everything other than what you have requested... this is not a good business to support.
