I've gone to Ulta for years and have never had a bad experience until this appointment. I specifically booked with a master stylist, but my appointment was changed to a regular stylist without me realizing until I arrived. Since I've always trusted this location, I decided to continue with the appointment. The stylist was very kind, and my silk press turned out nicely. Unfortunately, the haircut itself was extremely disappointing. I have curly hair, and the layers were not blended properly at all. The cut created a harsh "shelf" effect, with very obvious disconnected layers that make it difficult to wear my hair naturally curly now. I understand mistakes happen, and I do appreciate the stylist's professionalism and kindness, but textured/curly hair requires experience and proper blending techniques. I wish the appointment change had been communicated more clearly beforehand so I could have decided whether to reschedule. However, the company's marketing tactics are unethical. At POS, I was instructed to enter my tel# without a purpose provided. I passed. After payment was processed, I was informed that without providing an email address, they cannot provide a receipt because it is sent via email. I passed again knowing that it was not the cashier's fault that her company is run by idiots. She was simply following company procedures, but retailers cannot hold receipts hostage for an email. The trade was completed when Ulta was paid for goods and in California, receipts are required by law to provide proof of purchase and ensure transparency in transactions. Ulta's aggressive methods to collect consumer's personal data for marketing purposes is invasive and illegal. They are no better than modern day pirates trying to get our data. read more

Customer service at this location is below standards. My sister and I were browsing for new makeup, hair products and perfume. Well, we kept standing around looking for someone to help us. I purposely just stood in the makeup section and no one offered to help. I had to interrupt a conversation between two makeup technicians to get their attention. I asked for a specific concealer and after waiting, was told they didn't have it. Only to walk around and find it myself. Afterwards, I tested a perfume and waited again for assistance. Nothing! I ended up taking the perfume to the counter and requested them to grab one for me. Clearly, this location needs a manager who is manning the floor and ensuring customers are greeted and assisted. My experience with this particular Ulta Beauty was just OK because I feel like the staff had difficulty managing the customers during a moderately busy time. I visited this store several times, both to purchase items and to pickup online orders I placed beforehand. I usually buy hair care products, facial care and makeup. All the times I visited this store, there were good amount of customers browsing and purchasing (but not super busy at all!) but noticed that the staff were scrambling a lot trying to manage the checkout, consulting and online order pickup. The wait in the line was unusually long and the staff looked and behaved very stressed and unhappy! !DO NOT TRUST WITH YOUR HAIR! May 4th, 2024 I had the worst experience of my life with ''master" stylist Tiffany Vargas and the most unprofessional GM, Carol Fontaine. I arrived in the morning about 10:45am and did not leave until 7pm. And I still walked out with my hair a complete disaster and my scalp in PAIN. This is a long story with many important parts but I will try to keep it short and simple. Tiffany needed to correct what she had done from my previous appointment since I made it clear to her I would not want to ever go dark. So this appointment she would be doing a color correction and charging me for it, I did not complain or tell her it was because of what she did previously that that was why I needed the correction in the first place. After her and her assistant (Simon) finished and washed it I went back to her chair and my nightmare began. My hair was extremely patchy and streaky. I did begin to cry and it honestly seemed that Tiffany didn't know what to do at all. She did my hair being 100% aware that they did not have every color in stock and in general were low on many things! But I TRUSTED that she would be honest and if she didn't have everything she may need she would let me know, I was wrong. Tiffany tried to suggest using 1 SMALL packet of color remover since 'that's all they had'. Everyone present that day saw how distraught I was yet I remained courteous. Tiffany asked her coworker (the stylist directly across from the last chair on the left) what she could do and that's where they had me sit under a dryer for about 2 hours + with clarifying shampoo in my hair. Please note I had a concert that day and Tiffany kept mentioning that she didn't want me to miss it or be late and like I respectfully told her I didn't care, my main concern was her fixing my hair. Even after the dryer with the clarifying shampoo my hair still looked horrible but I had no other choice but to come back for her fix it. As she blow dried I informed her my scalp was in pain and for her to avoid touching it with the round brush. Upon checkout she wanted to not charge me for curls in my hair which to me was outrageous. I sat there through her assistants whole shift to end up with a MESS and IN PAIN to pay the full amount she wanted to charge me. That's where she called Carol Fontaine since I did want them to remove the color correction since she didn't correct anything but rather leave me worse than I came in. Carol right away began to say that the price they were giving me was fair and actually low for the hours I was there and that in a regular salon they would be charging me from $500-$1000 for a color correction! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! Like if I was in charge of the actual pricing. Our whole interaction was just horrible, I remained courteous yet she was extremely hostile and not at all understanding. I had never in my professional/ personal life experienced such an unprofessional and rude manager, general manager at that. She made the situation worse. This turned into a nightmare that I still am dealing with as of now due to Ulta still not responding and finding a solution for this matter. It's been months and all I hear is 'we are diligently working on this'. Their general manager LIED when explaining the situation to them as I did record our interaction and I just honestly am still so shocked at her behavior for not just being a MANAGER but an ADULT.
