I used to love this Ulta, but I recently went to this location and not one single of the girls helped me. I know the girls saw me, but they continued to ignore me. I thought they were busy. I also had my toddler with me and I didn't have time to go look for a lady to help me. This girl working there was just standing there just looking at me I thought if she wasn't busy she would've asked me if I needed help. But I saw her and she wasn't doing nothing just hovering over me. I had a screaming toddler and I wanted to get in and get out. I needed a color match and I was looking at the foundations and clearly needed help and didn't have time to test out all the foundations on my hand with a toddler and instead of talking about me and staring at me like these ladies were doing. Reality of it ladies is that this is a female store and females are gonna have kids with them. I'm going to be avoiding this Ulta location. Kindness and customer service. I usually don't come this Ulta because I've had bad experiences with the customer service in the past, but I was in the area today and thought I'd stop by for shampoo. The store is bright and clean. They have the weekly specials up front when you walk into the store. I was able to find my shampoo pretty quickly thanks to the organized layout. The team member that cashed me out was very sweet. She greeted me with a smile and I asked her how her day was going. I think it threw her off that a customer asked her that because it seemed like I caught her off guard lol. She proceeded to ask me what I had planned for my Saturday. I thought it was nice that she cared enough to ask and made me feel like a valued customer. I ordered on line for in store pick up. When I picked up my order I realized that the shade of foundation was wrong. I wanted to exchange for the exact same product but in the right shade. I was told I would have to come back to the store in 24 hours to exchange. Makes no sense. Won't be ordering there again. I received a haircut and color in the Salon and it was all around awful. I asked the assistant manager if I could get a refund. She refused to provide a refund without a policy explanation. My hair was cut shorter than wanted and I specifically asked for it to be a little shorter in the front and it turned out longer but that was NOTHING compared to the blonde and orange streaks dispersed throughout my DARK brown hair, when I had stressed for a natural color because I had never gotten highlights before. (a sun-kissed natural brown look) The assistant manager advised me to go to a different location about my predicament because only store managers can give refunds and she was not available. I went to the Lakeline Cedar Park location and when I spoke to the manager she said there was no reason for any type of manager not to give me refund due to the cut and color not being what I asked for. They were not able to give me a refund at the Lakeline location because they were not the one's who cut my hair. (which made perfect sense and the lady was very sweet when talking to her) I returned to the Round Rock location and the assistant manager refused to speak with me and I was given a response of "because I asked and got a cut and color there was no reason to give me a refund" though it was nothing close to what I had asked for, actually the complete opposite. The Salon service at the Round Rock location was very poor and unreasoning, every person I spoke to there was blatantly rude and full of shit (the assistant manager and some lady with lavender hair). I have to say as many times as I have come in to this store the one thing that remains the same is knowing no one ever offers to help me, I always have to go searching for someone and when I do find someone they never know anything about the products that I'm interested in. I typically spend about 10-30 minutes in here, prices are typically higher here than your typical grocery store selection of makeup, so on average I spend anywhere between $70-$250 on products. I do recommend this place to anyone looking for high end makeup,skincare, or hair products,they do have a wonderful selection. I just wish the management would make some changes and see that the customer service could use some big improvements. But on a brighter note I do just enjoy coming in here and browsing through all the different brands. read more

He was so friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable and pretty darn cute as well =) I'm not from the Austin area so when I found myself in town and needing a drastic hair change I thought I would check out Ulta, I've been to their locations in other states but never for highlights. I'm not a big fan of blind faith, but "When in....Austin", right? I called and made an appointment for that afternoon. She said it would be with a guy....hmmm I've never had my hair done by a guy before. But, hey, why not! Edmund greeted me promptly and sat me down to discuss my hopes, goals and dreams for my hair. He asked about the products I use, the fact I clearly use a straightener too much and what exactly I wanted to look like when I left (skinnier was not an option). After coming up with a game plan, he started in on the highlights. We had such lovely conversations, I felt like I could chat with him all day, plus I found out we're from the same home town. Such a small world!! After the coloring, washing, conditioning, cutting, drying and styling, I have the PERFECT cut and color. Not only did I leave looking great but he convinced me to leave my old shampoo behind and pick up something that will help me maintain my color and shine. My only complaint is the fact I'm not from Austin, but next time I'm here on business I will be making an appointment with Edmund and you should too!! read more

The worst retail experience I've ever had. Don't wear a jacket in this store, or keep anything in your pockets. They will probably assume you are stealing. Yesterday, I went to ULTA to buy a new hair product, but wasn't sure what to buy. I was wearing a jacket and kept my phone in my pocket to check product reviews as I walked up and down the aisles. I lingered for a while trying to decide between two products. I would pick them up and put them back down a few times, trying to make my decision. In a store with thousands of products, if you're not exactly sure what you want, this can be a time consuming endeavor. Behind the scenes, someone "saw" me put something in my pocket or purse. Following their policy, they called the cops. I probably waited in line for ten minutes. There was no security guard present. No one ever approached me at any time to "check on me" (make sure I wasn't stealing). I have worked retail and I understand that loss prevention policies vary, but if they were suspicious of me, they never used any recognizable theft-prevention tactics. I WISH THEY HAD CONFRONTED ME! I would have cooperated with an in-store search. If able to speak with my accuser, we could have worked together to clarify the situation. I understand how my actions could be perceived as shoplifting, but I'm sure anyone else would be able to understand the convenience of having your phone in an easily accessible location. Instead, THREE police officers show up at my door after I got home. Excessive and a waste of taxpayers' money? Yes. Definitely. The police officers were respectful and I understand they were just doing their job, but I can't believe all of this happened over an allegedly stolen bottle of AHAVA lotion (~$30). I asserted my innocence and let them search my apartment and car to expedite the investigative process. I asked to see the tape of my theft, but there was no mention of any hard evidence. I called today and spoke with Lindsey, the manager on duty. I wanted to relay my experience so that (hopefully) it doesn't happen to anyone else again. She informed me that their loss prevention policy is never to accuse anyone of stealing. She apologized and suggested that I come in and talk. Unfortunately, I don't see the point of continuing the conversation. She will do her job and stick to the company policy and I will assert my innocence. This misunderstanding and poor corporate policy has made me decide to take my business elsewhere. I will never shop at ULTA again. If you decide to shop at ULTA, please make sure to keep your hands and products in sight of employees at all times. read more

It's fairly large and clean. Not as fancy as Sephora but much closer to my house. They carry a lot of drug store brands and a few higher end beauty products including the store brand, Dermalogica. It's a little expensive but I like it. Ulta also has a full salon including hair, manicure (no pedis), facials, and brows. I've been going to Devina for my haircut, color, and style for about two years. She does an amazing job every time. The cuts are always flattering and grow out well. They keep a record of my colors and have called when they ran out of a color before my appointment. I did have a bad brow experience but they went way out of their way to make up for it. I usually go to Bren but I wanted to just walk in and went with whomever was there. Mistake. I asked for just a pluck but the wax was slapped on anyway. I must have been allergic, it was hot enough to burn my skin, or both. She also plucked my eyebrows way, way too small for my moon face. With the terrible swelling and red bumps from the wax I looked like a freak. So I went in the next day. The manager took one look at me and jumped right into action. They had the aesthetician work with some soothing treatments. I essentially received a free facial. They also gave me a full refund and a big bag of samples and gifts. Moral of the story: GO TO BREN FOR YOUR BROWS! She does a wonderful job. And Devina for your hair! read more

Wow, the customer service here was horrible. I asked 2 clerks very straightforward questions and both seemed clueless as to how to answer my question. Question #1 - I noticed they ran out of Redken Smooth Down Shampoo and asked if they had any in the back. The clerk said they had just gotten a shipment and asked one of the girls and she stopped talking on her cell phone to say no... without checking. A few minutes later I found the product I was looking for in some racks in between the aisles. Customer service fail #1 Question #2 (different clerk) - I was looking for a dark color lipstick, didn't matter if it was dark red or purple. She took me to the lipstick department and looked around and grabbed a few. None of them were what I was looking for, but if someone works in that dept. I expect them to know the product and know exactly where everything was. She helped for about 5 minutes and said, "Oh, I have some customers up at the front." and started walking off. Ooookay, so.... I'm not a customer? Why aren't there backups? FAIL Very disappointed but rest assured I won't be going back. 2 thumbs down. read more

My daughter made an appointment to color her hair before heading back to school. She was excited and even took in pictures of what she wanted. Needless to say, the hairdresser did not do a great job. She came back with the back of the neck on her sweater colored in purple and a couple of spots on the arms. The back of her ears were purple and the hairdressers I'd not clean the area around the hairline. She flew back today to school completely embarrassed and upset on how she looked. Not sure if the weather had anything to do with it since Friday, the 10th a storm was coming through and maybe the hairdresser wanted to hurry. Thank you for making her feel insecure about her looks. I thought ulta would have a professional hairdresser on site! My daughter usually gets her hair colored at Avenno Beauty School. They are hands down better than your salon. I absolutely LOVE this store! You can find anything and everything beauty related all in one place! I heard of Ulta from a nice lady at a salon near my house. I was looking for a high-end shampoo that I hadn't been able to find anywhere else in Austin. She told me "I know Ulta carries that shampoo. You should try there". Finally, a lead!! I followed her directions to the store and braced myself for the possibility that this wild goose chase (for a SHAMPOO!) would continue. Needless to say, I spent a good hour and a half strolling down every aisle of beauty heaven!! I completely forgot about the shampoo!! Long story short...I finally found the shampoo after months of searching. Thank you Ulta!! So, why only 4 stars? Customer service here is horrible. I walked in and wasn't greeted, or asked if they could help me find something. Actually, I didn't have contact with any employee until it was time to check out. Believe me, there were plenty of them walking around. Even though I came here knowing exactly what I was looking for (and didn't need help finding it), it would have been nice to been acknowledged. I come to Ulta a lot and don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but I just don't feel like its anything special like I used to. The clearance section is plentiful, but some of the drug store brands are overpriced and I would go elsewhere to buy if you're looking to save on makeup. Also, the overall selection leaves much to be desired. AND, they tend to be sold out of stuff a lot as you see tons of gaps in product. I'm considering switching to shopping at Sephora from now on. The staff have always been friendly, and anytime I asked where something was, they were always more than happy to assist me. I think Savanah O. is spot on--the customer service here is atrocious. I don't want to give her name but I dealt with a rep who from beginning to end was condescending, insulting, and was way more interested in batting eyes at her man friend instead of, you know, actually working. She acted like I was this huge bother. When she applied gel to my brows it was so sloppy that a five year old could have done better. When I tried to gently point out that the color she was using had too much red and didn't look right for a blonde, she was very snappy with: "I think I would know which color to use." Lo and behold I lean over to the display to pick up the BLONDE gel and it's different (gee, imagine that). Her response? "Oh I guess it would have helped if I actually read the bottle!" What a winner. When I asked her if we could try the CORRECT gel on one of my brows I get a huge eyeroll, a big sigh, and a muttered: "Well I guess you shouldn't have already done both brows." ...she says, after being the one to put it ON me (poorly at that), at a makeup station loaded with remover. What a class act. The one silver lining to this place is the Esthetician Kelly, who was SUPER sweet, immensely helpful with foundation choices and eyeshadow solutions. I love Ulta. I spend thousands each year at Ulta. I'm a beauty blogger so I walk in to Ulta with a purpose, a list of reviews on my phone and a LARGE list of products to get each time I go. However, this Ulta has NONEXISTANT customer service. I'm within walking distance of this Ulta and have been several times, each experience has been disappointing. Today I was very hesitant before ultimately deciding it's only a short distance away and will give it one last try. I came in with the intention of purchasing the entire OPI Starlite nail polish and several other products I've been saving for. Ha! NOPE. I came into the store. No other customers in sight except for 1 checking out. I saw herds of Ulta employees in social circles throughout the store chatting about schedules, getting off work, etc. I frantically was searching for my products which could not be found anywhere. I was circling the store multiple times rushing down every isle. At one point, I interrupted 2 employees socializing in the middle of the isle just so I could walk past them to continue a man hunt for my products. They didn't bat an eye as I had to squeeze behind one of them in a slender narrowing between her and the isle wall. Again, not asking if I needed assistance. During my adventure, I came across at least 3 or 4 different social circles that I had to maneuver around and catch eye rolls as I, the customer, was disrupting very rich conversation. Eh, my bad. Don't mind me. Since this store is consistently disheveled, unorganized and out of stock of almost everything, I had no luck finding my products. However, the closest resemblance I had to customer service was a couple of employees spying on me behind isles making sure I wasn't stuffing my jacket pockets with products. Which, they always stalk me when I go into this Ulta. No customer service but they sure as hell will inadvertently accuse you of stealing any chance they get. That's a whole other story, though. I decided to go wait in line to speak to the rep checking customers out. After waiting for while, I decided it's not worth it. This was the last straw and frustrated so much I marched right home to write this review. I've worked retail. I've worked at make up counters. It takes little to no effort to say "Are you searching for anything in particular?" The management and customer service at this location is poor. Needs improvement. And for the love of God, stop stalking people in the store assuming they are stuffing their pockets with product. Hm, I'd suggest assisting customers with finding products and having more hands on staff as a more effective anti-theft system. read more

First off, I do not understand all these negative reviews! Being an Ulta junkie for so long, when I moved to Austin I needed to find *my store*. Needless to say, this has been my store for the last three years now. WIth my birthday coming up, I really want to change up my hair and I hadn't done a dark color before.. Being lazy and cheap, I box colored it (worst decision). I called the salon to make an appointment to fix my hair which looked like a $5 wig. Ingrid was super helpful and nice when I told her about my misfortune & put me in the books. When my work schedule changed I called back and to move the appointment and she got me in there the same day! I've experienced some places that act really annoyed when you reschedule/cancel, but Ingrid was very accommodating. Edmund is a super hero/ life saver/ miracle worker. Not only did my cut and color come out beautifully, but the process took around 5 hours (to strip the color, highlight, color, shampoo, cut, etc..) and he kept me entertained the whole time. My hair was practically black when I walked in here and I came out as a light brunette with highlights! He worked very efficiently while being hospitable. Edmund - THANK YOU!! Today was my first time getting my hair dyed at a salon, and if I ever do it again, it absolutely will not be at Ulta. The stylist liberally daubed dark hair dye all around my forehead, temples, ears, and neck, and did not even wipe it off while she let the dye set. I didn't say anything because I assumed she knew what she was doing and that maybe salon hair dye worked differently from boxed dyes (I always put vaseline around the edges of my hair when I dye it at home, to prevent my skin from getting dyed). Now I have dark patches all around my hairline, and so far, nothing I've tried has been able to remove them. I am ASTONISHED by how unprofessional this is. I could have dyed my hair at home for $10 and had a better outcome. The haircut I got this time was fine, but I've had my hair cut at Ulta once before, and that time, I asked the stylist (a different stylist) to cut my bangs as well as the rest of my hair, and she totally forgot about the bangs. Admittedly, in the midst of her chatting up a storm, I also forgot, or I would have reminded her. But all around it seems like these stylists are very preoccupied and do not pay much attention to the work they're doing. I do not recommend going here. read more

I love makeup... and I love Ulta. But this location is the WORST Ulta I've ever been to. I've lived all over the US and I've been to many locations and this one is by far and away, the worst. Allow me to enlighten you as to why I feel this way... I went in today to get a liter of shampoo and some eyeshadow. I could tell it was busy from the parking lot but thought nothing of it since I have never had to wait very long before. I picked up what I needed and headed to the check out. The lady ahead of me couldn't remember her club Ulta phone number so it was taking a bit. No one's fault that worked there, so, no biggie. I was up...I give the cashier my phone number and it pulls me up. She starts to ring up my stuff. Gets it all in and asked me how I was going to pay...I had a gift card and cash. As I'm giving her my payment, she asks "oh, did you want to use the coupon?" umm... yes, that's why I gave it to you but I was nice about it... then tells me, oh, sorry I can't use it now that you've already put your gift card info in. Well, okay...I still want my $3.50 off. So she had to return all my shit and re-ring everything up. In the meantime, I struck up a convo with the lady next to me. She was thinking of buying a product I have had for a few months and I told her why I wasn't in love with it... the hag that was ringing her up butts in saying"we've sold HUNDREDS of those and EVERYONE loves them!" I said well, not everyone because I don't love it. She was so damn rude!! I'm also pretty sure she was the lead person or something. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Went in for light blonde balayage. For some reason she added dark brown, and then highlighted all over. I was pretty unhappy with the results so I went back in to have her "fix" it. She added more blonde in the front, and left it untoned. Such a horrible experience that I had to fix myself. Worst part was it cost well over $300. I came here to pick up some dry shampoo and blush. I also happened to have a coupon for $3.50 off of a $15 purchase for recently becoming a member of their rewards program. I brought my items to check out and the total was $56, well over the minimum amount. However, after she scanned the coupon it was rejected. The associate explained that the coupon could not be used on the two brands I was buying. What???? Apparently my brand of dry shampoo doesn't allow coupons and they don't allow coupons to be used on "prestige brands". This in my opinion is ridiculous. Why give out coupons if half the stuff in your store is not eligible? Needless to say I will not be patronizing Ulta anymore. I'll go back to Sephora from now on. read more

This is my favorite place to buy cosmetics. They have a great selection and prices. Someone is always available to help you find what you are looking for, but best of all, if that lipstick you bought doesn't look as good as you thought it would when you get home, you can return it. Woooow!! It's like these girls were trained specifically on how to give the worst possible customer service. Not only is Alex and almost every other employee rude there (unenthusiastic, unfriendly, snobby attitudes, piercings all over their faces etc.), she doesn't seem to know very much about your companies rewards program. When I lived in NJ and CA I NEVER had problems redeeming my points/rewards. I could use them towards whatever item I chose, NOT whatever items Ulta deemed appropriate. Now that we're unfortunately living in central TX while my husband finishes his degree, I can no longer redeem my points/rewards for whatever items I want. Your stores here do not allow that but instead tell me what I can get. I did not know this was the case or else I wouldn't have purchased a very pricey hair straightener here a few months ago or a myriad of other expensive items over the last few months. I'm not okay with this shortsighted policy. For years I've put off buying specific makeup, perfume and hair products from Sephora because I wanted to utilize Ulta's awesome customer rewards program. However, until this policy changes at your location I will no longer give Ulta my business and it'll be Sephora who sees my patronage. It just shows that Ulta's central TX stores don't really care about customer service or customer retention. I honestly try to avoid coming to this location but it's closer to my house so it's easier when I need something quick. I never have a good experience here some of the employees are nice but most of them give you such ugly looks. One lady in particular her name is Jennifer you always remember the bad ones. I don't mind waiting in line but before I got to the front of the line she gladly helped the 2 ladies in front of me. Of course because I'm brown she decided to walk off to do literally nothing. Made an online order for curb side pickup, went to the store, notified them I was there, waited 15 minutes, finally decided to go inside, 4 employees standing at the entrance, when to the pick up counter, told them I was outside waiting for 15 minutes, guy who was waiting on me just shrugged his shoulder and said "oh we didn't her the ring", asked for my ID, gave me my order, never apologized for their crabby service. read more

Thanks Rachel! I came in today with my mom to turn my hurried box dyed Halloween orange hair into a professional look for my new job. I was not expecting such a young professional to be helping me!
