Had a free Birthday Eyebrow Wax with Makenzie finally after jumping thru a few hoops. When I had contacted Customer Service the first time thru the chat option, I was given a promo code to use in the store. When I got to the store, I was told the code wouldn't work even though I was assured it would as the store said they needed a bar code to scan? Selena, the Experience Manager told me to call Customer Service and speak to a live person. I went back to my car and spoke to a rep and at first the rep didn't know what I was talking about and thought it was in select stores. I explained the memo that was given to the employees who said it was a Pilot Program and that they needed a Bar Code. He said he couldn't email me a bar code and could just give the same type of promo code given in the first Chat. I asked for Corporate's email or phone number but he couldn't give me one? I went back to the store and explained it to Selena and she offered to call Customer Service and explain it from her end. She said it's a hit or miss with the ones answering the calls. She was awesome intervening for me and was put on hold a couple of times til they figured out on their end, me talking to the phone rep and handing it back to Selena. I think this took about 20 minutes while Selena was even multi-tasking! I was so impressed at her going above and beyond to help me out, have a positive, patient and upbeat attitude while we talked about The Spurs making it to the NBA Finals in between holds on the call. I had not been to ultra in a long time and I didn't know or didn't remember that they actually have salon services at most ulta's. I got a haircut and Lily did an amazing job! She's the sweetest and so good at her magic with hair! Pricing is very reasonable as well. After I cut my hair I shopped around for a few things. I could spend hours here lol but thankfully I didn't bc it was New Year's Eve. Service overall was great, staff is kind and helpful. read more

I loved this Ulta because of how fully stocked they were on EVERYTHING! So well organized and everything in its spot. I just kept saying how stocked they were on everything and didn't have any trouble finding my items. The only downside to this location was parking. Very limited parking spots and over crowded. When I walked in two girls were chatting with each other about another coworker and some drama that was going on in her personal life they looked at me and I had to say excuse me to get by them and they still didn't say oh I'm sorry. Can we help you find something. I roamed all over the store and saw at least two other workers standing on their phones in the back corner doing nothing. When I got to the register I was asked who helped me and I said no one, the girl responded surely somebody helped you and I said no and she said well I'll pick a name and I said no don't because no one helped me. products in the store that are not testers have been opened and used, displays are messed up And look like they have been ransacked. really sad for this part of town. The whole ulta policy for online orders is so useless, if someone else is picking up your order you can't just send them your info and the order number, it has to be you who has to pick it up or assign someone to be the pickup person. Because I don't have an ulta account, I couldn't add a pickup person even after creating an account under the same email. The website sucks, and they were no help at all in store, nor online. I came to ulta yesterday to fix my makeup last minute, I asked someone for help and... SHE ATE. She literally reassured me that it was going to be okay and fixed everything. Explaining the products and insuring I liked what she was doing. She literally made my night a million times better and stopped me from wiping it all off and crying. Incredibly helpful staff at this location! Not only did they greet me as soon as I walked in, one of them also helped me match some Nars foundation as well. When the color that I matched with wasn't in, she looked in several places and then sent me to the front where they could order it for me online. Because I was exchanging a different shade, there were some complications but the staff handled it with ease. Every single staff member that I came across today was cheerful, kind and very helpful. 5 stars for the makeup and sales people in this store. They are amazing. I started wearing make up because they helped me find the right products. I even got beautiful scented perfumes. I had my eyebrows laminated and groomed. Amazing job. Now, why am I giving the 3 stars. Well there hair-salon is a whole other story. The hairdressers are super nice. However, they do not follow the directions. This is the hair cut and highlights I wanted pic 1 and the hair cut and highlights they gave me. Total price was $250.00 + $50 tip. I always tip big because I worked as someone who made a living on tips. $300 total. Now. Look at pic 1,2,3,4. It is not the color I wanted for my highlights and it is a rainbow of blonde to Orange. The hair dresser told me that she was using 20,30and 40 developer on different parts of my head. She didn't want to have me sit there all day. The process began at 9:00 and at 11:00 she had a new appointment. So now my haircut got a rush job and it is way shorter than I asked for. I left at 11:45. Look at pic one for reference. Saturday. Sunday, I called to ask what I can do to correct my orange head of rainbow. She never called back. I went to the store and the manager in charge of the salon said make appointment to get more toner added to make your hair brown. I asked if I would get charged for this and the manager said there is another lady in charge of that process. Now, I am unhappy because I wasted almost 3 hours, my hair is damaged, my hair is cut way short. The original hair dresser said I can highlight it again .... really..... or resolution of we can dye it back to brown. You might pay for it... Is this a good resolution. Such a waste of time and energy. Save your self the hassle and go to someone who will not give you orange highlights or a short bob. read more

Wife went here yesterday to redeem her birthday gift that was emailed to her. The cashier was extremely rude and had my wife waiting for several minutes because she could not pull up her email to show barcode for the item she chose. Cashier acted very snobby as if the item was coming out her own expense. Thank you to the other cashier who checked her and included several other gifts as an apology for making my wife wait. I absolutely love this Ulta. Shopping for cosmetics is SO much easier here than at other locations, it's never unbearably packed or a mess. I've had good and mediocre customer service, it honestly depends on the day and the moods of the gals workin' (I don't blame them sometimes I used to work retail and customers are not very bright.) For the most part I've had the pleasure with dealing with some very sweet women at the register. Also, I had my first haircut in 3-4 years at this salon with Katrina. I didn't get anything fancy done just a cut BUT I have stupid naturally curly hair and if it isn't cut correctly it looks HORRIBLE. I've always been timid with letting people cut my hair cause it takes years for my hair to grow out. Katrina gave me exactly what I wanted, a blunt straight across cut "above the boobs" she called it lol. She cut off about 4-5 inches and I felt so beautiful, my hair was so shiny and healthy lookin' o girl. She definitely knows how to work with textured hair, I highly recommended her. She was so gentle with combing out my hair and used the right amount of products when she was done. She was very very fun to talk to and she was hella funny. read more

I had such a pleasant experience at this location. This was the nicest Ulta store that I've visited and I've visited all of them in the Greater San Antonio area. I was having a hard time selecting a foundation from the new Juvia's Place I Am Magic collection. As a WOC just coming in the store from this Texas heat, my face was not looking it's best for matching foundation. The staff was kind, and professional, a nice combination. There was a woman who I think was management stocking items near the Juvia's Place display who helped restock a tester sample for me. Then, Jerrell, another sales associate saw me swiping different colors on my neck and offered to assist. He didn't make me feel foolish for my lack of knowledge and I totally trusted him. The other associates also appeared to know how to wear makeup but I wasn't intimidated by them either. Two other associates offered to help me and had sincere smiles on their face. I was also impressed with the store layout. It was modern, clean and had a good variety of products. read more

I've had my hair done twice now by Carlos at this location. First time it was just a cut and the second time was a cut and balayage. He is amazing! Very kind and delivers! I went to this store on 13th of November about 830. I needed some help with Mac makeup - girl asked could she look me up then went to help another customer never came back. Tried to use my birthday coupon it didn't work Manager came to help she added it but didn't give me my free gift. They were all in a hurry to leave I told the manager thanks for adding the coupon and she said "yeah." They are always so rude and unhelpful at this location. Worst hair experience ever! The stylist who colored my hair turned me from blonde to swamp brown when I had just asked for a few grays to be covered up. She tried fixing it but after 4 hours I decided to call it a day! The next day the salon manager took off as much of the color as she could but said to get my natural highlights back (mind you nothing new...just to get my hair to look like it did before the stylist turned it swamp color) I'd have to pay another $125!!! Making my grand total to over $300! Which means I would end up with my normal color (as close as they could get it) and a trim at the end of the day and it would cost over $300!!! What the heck?! I arrived early and went to the salon area and nobody was there. I walked around a bit and went back to check in and a guy was now combing out wet hair. I said...Excuse me, do I check in here, he said do you have an appointment and I said yes with TRACY. He said...she'll be right with you. I sat until 1:00 and she came out with a client who had just been washed. She walked right next to me to grab something and said nothing. Not Hi or I'm sorry I'm running behind...not a word! She goes back to her client/friend, and starts chatting about her daughter or friend who had a met a hot guy at a gas station! I sat for 10 minutes hearing this BS and her friend/client says..."Is she (me), waiting for you? Tracy shoots me a look, rolls her eyes and says yeah!!!! Still, no greeting, no...I'll be right with you, not a word is said to me. I waited 10 more minutes and got up, told the person by the check in, how unprofessional Tracy was and she apologized. I told another Ulta employee what had occurred and she said...Oh no! Five minutes later, Tracy leaves a very "cold apology ", on my voicemail, she says she thought the other stylist had let me know?!?! Are you kidding me? She's putting the blame on her coworker? So rude and so unprofessional! If Tracy is a "master stylist", I would rethink that promotion! She was rude, unconcerned about my time and never said a word. Do not go here! The person at the returns who was pregnant was skidish and frankly acted like she had not encountered a person of color. Now I can hear why the staff is not about customer service or excellence. The person who created the voice-mail messed up and instead of erasing and re-recording, she left it that way. WOW! There are 3 reasons I go to this Ulta: it is convenient to where I live, parking is easy, and I can get multiple products in one location (mass produced & prestige brands). I've given it about 3 or 4 tries and this last one just solidified the fact that I am NOT going back. Every time I am in there, the associates act as if it's a bother to have to interact with a customer. For example, in a previous visit, I was buying a gift for a teenage girl and I was told she wished for a gel nail polish set, I know nothing about this. I asked an associate where I would find this, she just pointed in a direction and replied, "over there". I walked "over there" and started to look at all these nail polishes different brands and step 1 and step 2 etc. etc. I asked another associate for help. I asked the difference between 2 different types and her reply was, " I don't know. Read the box." Are you kidding me? This is so rude, what is she there for then? If she didn't know she could've asked a co worker that did. On this visit, I just left extremely disappointed and very surprised that people like that would work there. I'm not sure if I don't fit the "make up" profile or not but it shouldn't matter, they should treat all customers the same because they never know ones needs or how much they'll spend if they're motivated by sales! I get the magazine circular and the emails and usually ignore them but with the holidays approaching, I gave in to some the the deals I saw advertised: Ulta beauty box for $19.99, 5 for $5 items, and a $3.50 coupon. I went in and the associates on the floor were ok and helpful but this time, it was when I got to the register. There wasn't a long line, one individual ahead of me and as I was paying only one behind me that came half way thru my transaction. I asked the cashier if I could use a coupon I found on the shelf, no answer, she just took it from me, scanned it, and said no. I paused and asked her why not, she replied, I don't know pulled the coupon out from where ever she tossed it and said, "its not valid yet until Dec 26." ok. I get it, then give it back to me. She tossed it out. Then as she was ringing up my items, the total price was way over by about $15. I asked her why was it so much, she didn't answer just looked at all the stuff over and over all while having a very annoyed look on her face and a demeanor that was very impatient. What had happened is that the 5 for $5 have to be in multiples of 5 or your charged regular price $2.99, she had skipped one item and when she figured it out, the price was reduced and reflected accurately. All this time, she was NOT friendly and looked super annoyed. The store was not busy and there was only one person behind me and she approached the line about half way thru my transaction. As I wrapped up my transaction, I asked, "oh, is it to late for a gift receipt. Sorry I forgot to ask." She just stared at me.Stared at me! Then I replied, "well, I wouldn't want to put you out and make too much work for you or anything." She replied as she looked away, "next person in line!". I was really insulted at this treatment, no thank you, no not possible, I'm sorry, bye have a good day, thank you, etc. Nope nothing. Yes, I spoke to the manager, yes I filled out the survey on the receipt. And on my previous visit, I call corporate and they didn't care, there was no follow up. So what should I expect but nothing but the same. Next time I will just choose to spend my money elsewhere even if I have to drive a little further but it's not worth this treatment. read more

Ok where do I begin this review?! If you need cosmetics this is really the only place to go, so why 3 stars?! Customer service is not great! Ive wondered around this store more times than I can count and NO ONE asks if I need help. Im not saying I want to be bombarded but when I see workers just standing around they could at least ask me if Im needing help finding an item. The times Ive finally stopped someone to ask for help they have been helpful and nice but I dont think I should have to flag you down. The store wasn't busy, and as I walked to the cash register with my Julep eyeliner, one of the girls standing behind the counter looked at me and then looked at another salesgirl and smirked. I believe this is a clear case of ageism. Although I am over 60 and a grandmother, I still want to be the best me that's possible. The visit before this one, am employee in her 40s was extremely helpful.
