Whose dumb idea was it to hot glue ALL the mens colognes down? They have 3 shelfs with the lowest being 12in off the ground. So if I want to test on my skin, I have to essentially lay down on the floor to spray it as they never have the spray papers filled. Oh and when they do, it's printer paper cut into uneven strips, very professional... "Do not lift testers" my ass. Just go somewhere else that is properly managed and staffed so you can functionally use and smell their testers without breaking your back. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this location and about Korinne. I have a hard time actually taking care of myself and going in to places for appointments. Korinne, with her kindness and personality alone, has made it so much easier to get to an appointment because I know when I get there I won't be judged and I will have at minimum 1 good deep belly laugh. Today, I had a few lol so that's a plus. I like to be comfortable. I come in dressed down and still receive the best service from everyone. I've been to a few places who like to follow you around like you're gonna shove stuff in your pockets lol but not here. Thankful to the manager for helping me with a not so great experience... had an elite stylist cut and total blonde my hair, and walked out dazed and confused by my razor and clipper-based soft pixie cut request, and some shade of greenish, yellowish, smokey grey coloring. Walked in to figure out what could be done to fix the coloring as my primary concern, and the manager helped by having another stylist lift and tone my hair. It looks better than it did, and I can live with it. Now, I just have to wait for the cut grow out. read more

Not only is this a super beauty store with an enormous selection of high quality products, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I was hoping to find a great hairdresser and asked the clerk who she recommended. Korinne! Lovely gal who did exactly what I asked her to. The haircut is perfect. Just perfect. She was careful and didn't get distracted as some do, even though she was the most senior hairdresser and was interrupted for advice from other stylists. This particular Ulta is just not well managed and yesterday was no exception. Right when you walk in, the entryway has dirt/trash on the floor. How hard is it to get a broom and make sure that area stays clean and welcoming? Not crowded and yet hard to find help. There were two people in the nail area where I was gossiping about others. Virtually no sample perfume so hard to know what any given one smells like. Went to check out and there were 4 people behind the counter, one helping a customer, the other 3 were talking/ not looking. The clerk finished and started to help me. She asked for my phone number and I said no thanks. Then she asks if I know anyone else's phone so they can get the points. I said no once so why again? I went into ulta looking for my usual things with one of my friends and like usual the store was moved around in order to prep for the holidays, so lost little me asked Michael for help. He had great energy and not only helped my friend and I get what we needed, but he gave us great make up tips and helped us both branch out (in a completely not pushy way) on products that were equally amazing. My salon visit was just perfect! I went in on a week day to get my hair done and the stylist was very comforting and honest! She explained all the possibilities and outcomes, even gave me a list of all the options I had and of course her professional opinion. The first session was great! Veronicas work was so fantastic and exactly what I realistically pictured, as well as what I was lead to believe it would be. Not to mention she also gave me a lot of genuine and helpful tip and tricks I could do to keep my hair healthy and vibrant. I will definitely be returning to Veronica for my next session! I went in for what was supposed to be a 10 minute appointment, but it ended up lasting over an hour. I love ulta for the products they carry--especially since they have both drugstore and high end options--as well as for the membership offers they have in addition to their frequent sales. I'm a platinum member and ulta credit card holder. I spend my money here frequently; in fact, I probably spend too much of my money here. And this most recent experience has me reevaluating whether I should make sephora my primary make up store, instead of ulta. Even before today's experience I have always found the customer service experience at ulta lacking. Today was no different. I had an appointment at 2:15 for a 10 minute face fit facial. I had never been to the salon at ulta before and I only made this appointment because I had a coupon. I checked in at the salon desk and was greeted quickly, told that my facialist would be ready soon, and was provided with a bottle of water. So far so good. But when 5 minutes go by, I am getting impatient. I return to the desk and am told that she might still be with her previous client; there's no confirmation though and no employee seems concerned enough to double check; There's also no apology. 10 minutes later, she finally finishes with that client at 2:30 and my face fit treatment starts at 2:35-20 minutes late. The face fit treatment itself was truly wonderful and She gave me many helpful pointers and insiders. I would rate that experience highly; however, it's the ancillary issues that are really aggravating. I not only had to wait longer for my appointment than it lasted, but then I also had to wait more just to check out. My facialist gave me my bill and told me that I needed to pay at the front. So that's what I did. Well 20 minutes later and I was still not checked out. I don't know what the deal is but every time I go to ulta the line is horrendously long because they only have one cashier, who is operating at a slow pace. This in addition to the coupon I had really got everybody mixed up and confused--because no one knew how to redeem the coupon--and it took forever to finally pay. It was ridiculous. It shouldn't be this complicated to use a coupon for your store. I was also told that I was supposed to pay at the salon desk; what the heck?! I don't work here--I'm just trying to be a patron but they made it really hard. Again I love ulta, but I don't expect anything beyond what I see on the shelves because the customer service is seriously lacking. read more

Curbside pickup: Called Ulta to get info on how to do the curbside pickup, I was given simple and easy to understand instructions on how to go online and place the order for a specific location, so I placed an order. After driving 45 min, I get to the location and call in my order for pickup, but the manager Mary says the order won't be ready until the next day. I received no email regarding a time it would be ready, but just the confirmation number and location hours. Manager Mary didn't give us any compensation or sincere help but instead just exclaims, "that's the way the system is". Went to this location with my bonus mom to find a shade of L'Oréal eyeshadow she was running out of. She had previously learned the color was discontinued, so wanted a similar color to replace it. A young woman asked if we needed help. My mom explained what she was looking for and we followed her to the L'Oréal area. She looked through the eyeshadows and eventually found two similar colors, one was considerably darker and the other had more red in it. Nevertheless my mom found one of them acceptable when applied to her arm, so settled on the color. The young employee searched through the bin for some time and did not find the color in stock. She said perhaps it could be shipped to home, then spoke briefly to a co-worker. When she returned she said there is a new way the ship to door (or whatever the method is called) is handled and that we'd need to go through the line and the person at the register would determine if the eyeshadow is available to ship. Immediately I wondered, why must we go through a line potentially to be told this eyeshadow is unavailable?! Shouldn't one of the numerous workers here helping no one be able to tell us if this is available without standing in line?? Who makes you wait in a line for the opportunity to learn if you can get a product by mail? Possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard but my mom wasn't bothered by it and we got in line. Thankfully it wasn't long but once we got to the cashier she also had to confer with a co-worker or two for several minutes to determine the eyeshadow we wanted to buy was not available. Soooo, why on earth is there a product on the shelf that is not available in store or by mail? I suggested they should remove it from the shelf if it isn't available. A co-worker pushed back that it should remain there as it could become available later. So now we've waited in line for nothing and, mind you, not one of the four or five employees involved ever thought to show my mom a similar color in another brand. Not one!!! I came here after a disappointing Sephora visit for a foundation in my shade and I wanted it to be matte and match my neck was the main focus. Anyway I came in on a Saturday in April and walked around the aisles and found myself in the It Cosmetics aisle asking my fiancé if the foundations I picked were good and she walked over to a woman who introduced herself, Stephanie. I told her what I wanted and she mentioned the colors she recommended and then she lead me to Dermablend and matched me perfectly. THIS HAS BEEN MY HOLY GRAIL!! ALSO STEPHANIE WAS so nice and talked to me through the whole process and gave me tips and other products. She has been the main reason I continue to keep going to Ulta. Most of these beauty stores I hardly get great service but this was the best so far! read more

First time this has ever happened to me. I purchased some items online as I usually do, they gave me open/used half filled items. Usually I go to the Broadway location and never had an issue before. They make sure they show you the items so you get exactly what you purchased. This time I had to order and pick up at 4368 N Oracle store. Whoever gave me the order didn't open up the bag to show the items, I thought it was very odd. I got inside my car and started checking myself to make sure I got everything. As I was checking I noticed the deodorant I purchased seem to have product around the lid and on the outside of the container, I opened it and it appeared to have been used, there was product all over it was pretty gross. I went back inside and exchanged it for another one. I went home and I was putting everything away when I noticed that the hair mask and a face moisturizer looked like it had been opened before and It even had dried up product around the lid and on the container, not to mention it didn't even have the plastic layer that keeps the product inside the container and it was almost half way filled. It clearly looked like it was used before. I would understand if it was 1 item mistakes happen, but 3 items? They clearly gave me stuff that had been returned or something, and didn't seem like an accident. Unacceptable, gross, disgusting and unsanitary. I called the store and they placed me on hold for about 8mins. I hung up and called again, and they answered. The woman apologized and said "I'm sorry that this keeps happening to you". I'm assuming it was the woman that exchanged the open/used deodorant. It is unfortunate because usually people do online orders due to not having enough time to go in and purchase a big order. I live about 30 minutes away from that store, I purchased my items from that specific store because they had all the things that I wanted to get. Thankfully I went to the store I always order from (Broadway) and they were able to exchange both the hair mask and face moisturizer. read more

Had a great experience with the staff at this store today. It was Sunday, close to closing and everyone was in happy mood- maybe because closing time was near- ha. I had some questions about products and needed advice and felt like I received some honest feedback. Staff even volunteered information on how to earn more ulta points. Also noticed a huge clearance section I've never noticed at an Ulta before- maybe have just never been there at the right time. Wish I would've had more time today to check out the deals. I've been getting my roots done regularly by Veronica for 2+ years now. She is excellent with matching the color and i love the 10minute express root touch ups. My hair has never been one of my best assets and she has helped me with her tips and product recommendations. No one cared to help and when I did get help I was told to go to sephora for what I need and or they tried upwelling something to me that had nothing to do with what I was needing / looking for. I moved here from Virginia 3 years ago this week. After bad experiences with hair cut and color at Regis in the Tucson Mall and Halo at the Safeway shopping center at First and Tangerine, I gave up. I settled for basic haircuts at Sport Clips (they do a decent job with women's hair) and Great Clips. As a gray haired, haven't colored my hair in 3 years person, I was fighting a losing battle against chlorine in the swimming pool, whatever chemicals are coming from the shower head, and harsh desert sunlight. In other words, my hair looked and felt awful. Brassy, dull, limp, lifeless. Veronica Alegria turned that around for me today. Be sure to become an Ulta Rewards Member, they will give you a card to use when you make purchases (kind of like a Frys VIP card). This card is used for their quarterly incentive program.
