Came in as a first timer for the Japanese Head Spa with Bressa. The service itself was great and my hair felt amazing after. Bressa checked in about the water temperature, pressure etc during the visit and explained the process. The room is very relaxing and lovely lavender smell. There is a cute little coffee station up front. The only downside was no one greeted me at the front and I was waiting a while up until close to my appointment time and Bressa came out after finishing with her previous client. I was in desperate need of a hair cut so I did a lot of research before I made my decision to go to Maple Leaf Hair..so I called and "Kaylee" "I think I spelled it wrong"answered the phone and she was the one I wanted to make the appointment with in the first place so it worked out really well for me. This is not a Salon to go to if you have curly hair. The stylist was nice but she didn't know what she was doing. The diffuser she used was a cheap hot tools brand. The diffuser extension kept falling off the nozzle. She towel dried my hair, which you're not supposed to do with curly hair. You are supposed to finger curl the hair while it's wet not half dry. My hair looked terrible. I could have cut my hair myself and did a better job to be honest... Very disappointed in this place. With this economy and as a single parent I can't afford to go to places that mess up my hair. Now I have to go back to pulling my hair in a pony tail and hat. read more

I went in on April 1st to have a consultation with Erin for the minute I met her sat in her chair I felt welcome and comfortable. We talked about how I wanted a change from being platinum blonde to more of a honey blonde like Carrie Underwood. She will be doing an all over color May 27th then I will be getting extensions in September as a birthday gift to myself, as well as being cancer free two years from cervical cancer. I went in to get a trim so my hair would be healthy. I told Erica to please trip the top layer to make sure it was healthy. She dry cut, and then washed the hair, because of COVID they can't dry hair (which isn't true, my grandma and mom went and got their hair dryer last week at their salons). I went gone and dried my hair, and curled it. That's when I realized how bad it was. My hair is naturally curly so it's hard to see when it's wet. It needs to dry to be able to see the layers. My wedding is in 60 days, it doesn't grow quickly, and I even was talking to Erica about my wedding and how I worked for 10 years to grow my hair to the length it is because it grows so slowly. I'm crying, devastated, and angry. I don't know how you even fix this! I will not be going back. I'm so devastated. I got my money back but for $50 it should NOT look like a child cut my hair and I should not be told it's an easy fix. Every layer is uneven, I already lost 3 inches of hair and now I'm going to loose more. That's not easy, that's awful especially for someone who's worked so hard to grow out their hair. read more

Kailey was so friendly and sweet. She knew exactly how to cut my hair so that it looked the way I wanted. She couldn't have done a better job. Right when I walk in I'm greeted by multiple people. Asked to help myself to the coffee bar and have a seat and they will be right with me. I didn't wait long as Erin greeted me. Right away I warned her about how bad my hair. Showed her the pictures of the cut and color i was looking for. I wanted to chop off my hair and put a hard color in my hair.lavender. I had a balayage and cut done which is just ok. I wasn't very happy with the cut especially and have been snipping away at home on my own to fix it, which means I'll probably need to go pay another stylist soon to fix it up right. The 'balayage' technique was done in the same style of foil highlights, just didn't go to the roots... which in my experience is not actually balayage. There is an different way of stroking in the highlights and selecting its placement, which was not the technique my stylist used. Also, my stylist was literally going back and forth between me and another client in a chair close by... she was cutting my hair and doing the other woman's highlights, so she was distracted while doing my cut and on such a tight schedule that I felt rushed out without being able to get the look I wanted in the cut. All in all, it cost me $180. After the response I received from the business owner, I changed my rating from 2 stars to 1 star. The culture of this place is not focused on customer satisfaction. read more

I went in here for a basic women's haircut thanks to a groupon that slashed the price from $45 to $19. I went and got a haircut that was literally worth $19, which I wasn't expecting. My stylist put minimal product (just a spray before she used heat) in my blonde hair so it frizzed out and only got somewhat settled when she curled it. Not to mention my stylist said she wanted to cut my hair conservatively (I asked for four inches off) and she cut off at least four inches right away and I'm kind of uncomfortable with the length now and wish she had been more conservative with it. The cut, even if it feels awkward sometimes, is cute when styled and I really like it. I'm just very upset with how my hair was treated there--I feel like I treat my hair better myself when it comes to post wash and drying care. I've had no lasting negative effects from it but I'm still sorely disappointed for not getting a haircut worth $45. Very cute salon and place though! read more

Update: Shortly after posting this review, I was contacted and fully refunded what I paid. The manager also offered to fix my hair for free, but I had already seen a different hairdresser.. For this, I am adding another star. My experience may have been a one-time fluke. *** So upset with my experience. I went in with a photo example of what I wanted and left with nothing remotely similar. If I would have known what my hair really looked like, I wouldn't have paid but I was sent out of the store with wet hair! I asked for a natural baylage-like lightening as my hair was dark brown. I looked like I had been dipped in bleach with a straight line going from brown to yellow. No fade. And for some reason there were a grand total of about 6 hilights over the top of this monstrosity (not even starting at the scalp!) not to mention one hilight on top where my bangs would be that was WHITE. Not the same color as the rest of the bleached hair. With my job, I have to have natural looking hair. I had to go get my hair fixed by another salon the very same weekend and they found SPOTS in my hair that had bleach dropped on and just left as blond polka dots. Too much money went into this place just to give me the worst dye-job I've ever had. They didn't even ask if I needed a trim. I can't help but think the girl doing my hair was just in such a hurry she did the sloppy job. read more

Found maple leaf hair through a Groupon after a few weeks of looking for a hair salon. I decided to give it a try based off the incredible deal available. I am so glad that I did! The studio is super comfy and welcoming. Upon walking in I was immediately greeted and offered a coffee, water, or mimosa (mimosa Saturday's!!). Whitney took the time to ask questions about what I was looking for and explained everything she was doing throughout the process. I had brought in a formula from a previous stylist. Whitney went about and beyond, applying one color than adjusting to the needs of my hair and applying a different color to the bottom to ensure the right look. I have pretty thin hair so Whitney suggested adding some texture to give it body while avoiding the thinness that could come with layers. I will certainly be returning on a regular basis! read more

My most recent experience was what prompted me to finally give them a well earned 5 stars! Whitney (the owner) is one of the most friendly, caring people I have ever met. I came to her with very damaged, brittle hair. Not only did she help me achieve the tone I've been trying to get to for months but she took my hairs health into consideration at every step. On top of it all she got me into the salon a soon as was physically possible, listened to my every concern and issue, and even sent me home with products to try. This was my first trip to a salon in over 20 years and I worked with Kailey. Although she was nice enough, I won't be back and I would nto recommend this salon to anyone. I distinctly told her prior to sitting down that I didn't like hair longer in the front than in the back but that is exactly what I got. My bangs were left blah and when I mentioned it, even the salon owner gave suggestions that Kailey didn't really do much with. In the end, Kailey handed me a mirror and it seemed to look OK in the very dim lighting of the salon....until I got out to the parking lot and could see everything in bright lights. I was devastated. Hair eventually grows out. Prior to today (back in June but Yelp didn't post my review), I attempted to make the initial appointment online but the system wouldn't allow so I sent an email that no one ever responded to. Not happy. Looking over the reviews here I thought I would have had a great experience. Not only did I not get what I asked for, I thought the price was a little steep. I went in for an all over color of mahogany and came out with black hair. The stylist also left dye all over my forehead. For $100 (not including tip), I should have walked out happy with my hair. Erica did an absolutely TERRIBLE job. She dry cut even though she obviously did not know how and made terribly uneven layers and blunt cuts. 4 inches were lost and the wedding is in 2 months. She has been working on growing out her hair for YEARS because it grows so slow. She has went to multiple hairdressers trying to slowly fix it while also trying to keep as much length as possible. It is ridiculous that the virus has been used as an excuse for inexperience and poor skill. She was crying and incredibly stressed after the haircut and after seeing just how bad it was. Someone should not have to experience this ever, let alone months before their wedding. read more
