I returned to Ulta after only shopping at another beauty store for several years, because they carry the Nest Grapefruit reed diffuser for my home. During my last visit I was not able to try the perfume I wanted to try and they were out of stock in store of an item I was there for. I would recommend to order online before heading out. Since I'll be doing my own makeup, I needed something that was just right for me as far as a natural look and within the realm of my makeup application skills (which are average, at best.) LALI was amazing! She approached me and asked if I needed any help and she listened sincerely to my list of needs and concerns. She took her time with me, finding the perfect shade and coverage level of foundation as well as some supplemental products to help achieve the look I'm going for. She went above and beyond and her demeanor was sweet and sincere, I didn't feel intimidated or pressured into anything. Amazing service. The cashier (I didn't get her name) was also super sweet! The whole experience was a fantastic one which I'm really happy about because I normally DO get intimidated when I go into places like these. DO NOT COME TO THIS ULTA!! The woman at the door letting people in today at 1:30pm was so rude. Every year I come to Ulta for Xmas gifts for 22-25 young women in my office. I spend between $40-80 on each person. I try to buy them all identical gifts because it is easier. For 8 years I have done this. Today, I walked in and a very nice young woman began to help me pick 22 gifts. We counted twelve brush sets and she went to check her inventory in the back to see how many more she had. Once she left, the woman at the door rudely said that we could only have six of any SKU in the store. I asked if this was a new rule and she said she she had been working at ULTA for many years and it has always been the policy. My problem is that first, I have bought my Xmas gifts here for 10 years and have NEVER been told this. Second, she was very rude about it and didn't offer any help or to ask a manager to be sure. Third, I had just touched TWELVE of these brush sets. She put them back on display. What is the point of sanitizing the basket I was holding and not the twelve items I had just handled? Fourth, in the age of Covid, with so may companies losing money, this store doesn't want a couple thousand dollar purchase? And lastly, I don't really go out if I don't have to during this pandemic but now, because the Upland Ulta has a rude person minding the door, I'm going to have to go to another store. I certainly feel for the Ultas of the world because I find customers for whatever reason are particularly judgemental when it comes to customer service. However, there are some things that this particular store can do to improve. Shopping during COVID is a little stressful. Most times you want to be in and out of the store and gone. There were maybe a handful of people in the store on a Tuesday and 3 of us were chasing down the same beauty consultant (advisor?) all around the store. At one point, I started pacing back and forth like hopefully making some sort of imaginary net to catch someone to ask where the milani eyeshadow primer is (it's in a tiny section near checkout). It was awkward because I made eye contact with several other store workers who seemed to be stationed at the checkout or behind the checkout but could not help. In the end, all maybe 10 of us started to form a line at checkout and the store became empty because it was nearly time to close. But only 1 person was checking us all out. Then 2. In the end, the same person who helped me with finding milani was the same person who checked out my products. It's silly to make such a big deal out of these things but the customers can see your inefficiencies, store! read more

Stephanie helped me today! I came in because I wanted my bangs to be fixed (I got them cut the day before and was not caring for how they were looking when I dried them out). I told her I may not have said things correctly, but was able to describe to her what I was looking for. She understood and let me know that they appeared to be a little heavy. She got to work and very quickly thinned and blended my bangs to my liking. She was very professional and did not say any disparaging comments about the stylist, she informed me the cut was even and just needed to be less heavy. My review is only based on the SALON. I booked an appt and went in to get a hair cut and baylage done. When I get there I was introduced to April. She told me I always book consultations so I'm not getting my time wasted because I'm paid by the hour. I told her I wanted a hair cut n baylage and showed her my inspo. Immediately she was like that's gonna take me probably 6 hours and she doesn't want to rush because again she's paid by the hour. She told me she could do a partial baylage and could take maybe 3 hours I was okay with that but It just seemed like she didn't want to do my hair at all. She told me it's gonna take 2 hours to even lay foils in your hair and to tone it. She kept telling me over again she's paid for her time and she was only booked for 2 hours for my appt which online should explain that better and the people calling to confirm my appt should give all those details. I don't get much time to take off to do these things and I paid for a baby sitter and drove 45 mins to get there to just waste my gas and be told she can't do it because she doesn't want to rush because she get paid by the hour! My score is solely on employee friendliness and helpfulness because anyone can buy these same products at Walmart, Target, Sephora, department stores, etc. If I can give a ZERO or worse, I would. I come to this location from time to time and NO Ulta location is friendly really, but this time they had THE MOST employees on the floor I think I've ever seen. I was in there on a very non-crowded late morning Saturday and there were a good amount of employees all around the store and NOT one girl even said "hello" and sure didn't say "let me know if you need help". Two were in the higher-end cosmetics section, so one was helping out a lady, walking to show her things and passing by me a couple of times so she could have very, very easily said in passing, "are you doing alright &/or let me know if I can help!" And when she was done, she came to where she was literally 2 feet from me and still not one damn word. It's like their way of purposefully, tauntingly saying, "I see you, but you're not good enough for me to speak to you." Another was making someone up, but that doesn't mean they become a mute and not say anything to me and she clearly saw me walking through every aisle. Then a few other girls crossed my path in the rest of the store and just walked on by. Everyone needs to get off their high horses, stop thinking they're better than others, and be friendly and helpful. If it were up to me, all the girls on the floor would have been fired. With employees like that, they might as well not even be there, so they obviously don't need a job to earn any money then. When I went up to pay I was charged $95 I thought they include a tip . The store at the Upland Colonies has horrible management. I have picked up a few online orders in store and twice had issues with my order. The very 1st order I picked up an item I ordered which had a special buy 1 get 1, when I arrived the only time anyone has ever opened my order in front of me to confirm I received everything, I noticed the item was missing. So speaking to the associate apparently 1 if he items was not in stock, when j inquired why j was not notified as this is the reason I ordered the item the manager could not be bothered to stop what he was doing to look at myself or the associate to answer my question, basically felt like it us shat it is so move on or return your purchase. Horrible customer service Today I go in to pick up a order, walked in a lady in all black greeted me I walked over to the pickup stand. 2 associates behind the counter not assisting anyone never acknowledged me, the woman who greeted me had to walk over and ask if I was picking up an order. Shd looked for order matched my name on my ID and handed me my bag. When I got home about 15-30 minutes later I opened the bag, which j must add was stapled close. When I reviewed the contents I realized a item was missing so I immediately call customer service. As j am speaking to customer service the agent jnforms me I have to reach out to the store. So I immediately hang up and call the store. As I explain the issue I am told I have to bring all my items back and they can see if they can figure out what happened. I return to the store 15 mins later, due to Covid once I arrive store is at capacity have to wait outside as instructed by the manager guarding the door. Which I can understand. Once I am allowed in I walk over to the pick up area a cashier greets me and says someone will be right with me. A few minutes later an associate comes over I explain I had just called and my purchase is missing an item. So she looks up my pickup and confirms what I was missing. She immediately tells me it will be 1 moment, she then walks past me to the door and proceeds to talk to the store manger, mind you we are only 10-15 feet apart so i can hear everything. So she explains the issue, which j know hd is not listening because he asked her how I had a duplicate item and she had to explain again that j had ordered 2 similar items but only 1 was in the bag. So he proceeds to ask how us that even possible if we scanned it it should be correct, and while standing there he continues on and finally says well just get her another but make note of the item so we can verify later. Basically insinuating I was trying to steal another item. I understand some people are this shady, but don't include everyone in your assumptions. Oh and the part that really sent me over was the item I was missing was worth $5. No typo i said $5, really j had 2 other items over $15 and I'm going to try and steal a $5 item. I was eventually handed the item but not until I had to her the manger say 2 more times make sure you write down the information from the product. Not once did anyone ask to see id, my receipt or the items I brought back with. I proceeded to leave and no lie took 5 steps out of the store and had to turn around and let the manager know who again was speaking to the associate who helped me, that if you are going to talk "SHIT" about your customers you may not want to do it within earshot of that customer. Which of course his defense was we didn't say anything. When I got home i called to place a formal complaint because it seems like something needs to be said. I myself am a customer service manager and have never anf I would never let my staff get a way with this. Yes an investigation should be done, but to make the comments infront of your customer is in poor taste. 49. When I first came in here, I thought, wow. This place is so spacious and looks bigger than the Sephora nearby. There weren't a lot of people in the store either. Then it went downhill from there. I came here for the Urban Decay Dual Eye Primer (Sin and Original) and proceeded to use the $3.50 off $10 coupon I got in the mail. I found out that Urban Decay is considered to be a "prestige cosmetic" brand, which is not covered under the coupon. Interestingly, the coupon lists Lancome, Bare Escentuals, Dermalogica, Clarisonic, Thermaclear, Philosophy and Benefit as prestige cosmetics. No UD. A bit deceiving here. For the record, you CAN use this coupon to buy UD products online. They need to straighten out their coupon policy. Very disappointing. I bought it anyway. After all, it was two primers for $20, and these items are normally sold for $20 a piece, so it was like a BOGO deal. But after using the Sin primer for a week, I consistently got the same result at the end of each day: a thick eyeshadow crease on my eyelids! Gross. I've been a loyal Urban Decay primer user for the past three years, and this has never happened to me. I ended up returning this product. Very disappointing. They also had a promotion going on in their salon a while ago. A day after I had received this e-mail, I tried to make an appointment with them, but they were completely booked! Really? Just got my hair cut at the salon by Sam. She was so sweet! And she did a great job. I told her I was nervous because I had been traumatized elsewhere- told they were cutting an inch off and leaving three inches shorter. My hair takes a long time to grow so I don't want to give up any length. She was super mindful of that and did a great job. She trimmed off maybe an inch of length and my hair feels so much healthier. She was also sweet and personable. I would definitely come back. read more

I love Ulta, and I frequent the one by my house. Today, I was in the Upland area and decided to stop by this Ulta. I walk in a few feet behind two older white lashes and a girl looks directly at them, greets them and walks away. I was not asked if I need help during the 30 minutes I was there, but other shoppers were (associate close enough to hear). I don't know why I didn't just leave right then. At the register, I expressed that I was upset and explained why. Stephanie listened to my concerns and got her manager. The manager, April, was genuinely concerned and sincerely apologized and gave me a coupon. She even asked who the associates were so that she could address the situation. Thank you April.
