Update: 1/13/2008 ****Been using these buds for a few days now and I have to rethink my review. These earphones, although comfortable, and inexpensive just do not create quality sound. The high range sounds are so over powering that NO bass or midrange sounds come through. I really fell for these as they have the complete function of the standard set (Which are very uncomfortable) and they price point seemed right. Why there are so few options out there for the iphone is a mystery to me, seems like many manufactures are just making an adapter which I hate cause it's hard enough managing the cords as it is without adding another 2 to 3 feet or an extra set all together. I have ordered the V-Moda headphones($100) and will write a more critical review for them taking my time and not letting the "New Factor" get in the way. The 2 stars for the Ultimate Buds are for comfort and iPhone functionality. They fail at sound quality. Now, if the $35 price point is something that just really attracts you and you want to take a chance and hear for yourself. GO FOR IT. If one thing has shined through about Ultimate Buds is that they have EXCELLENT customer service. They responded to everyone of my emails within minutes, they sent me a second set when the first seemed to be lost in the mail and when they did show up they told me to keep them both. When I made the decision to return them and try the V-moda (double the price) they refunded me completely without having to ship them back.**** /end update So I got the iPhone and yes it's awesome, however, it comes with some very uncomfortable and low quality headphones. So I set out on a quest to find Quality headphone that would work with the iPhone. I can't just use any headphones you ask, NO. See, the iPhone has three rings on the plug of the headphones, this third ring is the connection for the microphone. Furthermore, they are not spaced and placed in the same location as your typical headphones. Resulting in poppy sound only one speaker working and causing the music/movie to cut in and out. Ultimate Buds has the solution with their custom made headphones ranging in price from $35 to $150. The $35 version is what I have/ reviewing and although they are better than the standard set they leave me wanting more bass and mid-range. The Ultimate buds are very comfortable with a snug fit and have complete functionality of the iPhone headphones. But what if I already have a great set of headphone? No worries Ultimate Buds makes and adapter for the iPhone so you can use your preferred set of headphones. The guys at Ultimate Buds are very nice and unlike many online retailers respond very quickly to emails. I first sent my headphones in to get splice a few years back and they have worked awesomely. (Is that a word?) Now about three months ago my cat got a hod of the cord and I had to send them in for repair. Ultimate Buds fixed them up tand they worked great until one day they stopped working. I sent them back but this time with the new volume control headset that came with my 3G. Ultimate Buds spliced them on to the new cable for FREE!!! Fast service and quick return makes Ultimate Buds my go to place for headsets. Now not only do I get to use my iPhone as an MP3 player, but I get to enjoy high quality sound and take calls at the same time. I figured I was being all smart-ass by hopping on The Yelp, but big props to Eric for getting here first. Ultimate Buds doesn't make the headphones themselves, they merely splice other people's headphones onto the cords from a pair of Apple iPhone buds. Why? The jack is perfectly-sized and it also has the really nice in-line microphone & remote control button. If you're looking for a pair of replacement headphones with the mic/button combo, you've basically stuck with three or four choices. It seems a bit unfair to review them for anything but what they're responsible for. I went with the UB7's and they sound fantastic. The best part of UB is they don't force you into just buying the $150 finished product. If you want to send them a set of Apple headphones and get the Ety's from them, it's $120, saving you $30. Have both pieces (the Ety's are just $70 on Amazon) and want them to do the Frankensteining for you? Send 'em $30 and you're good to go. The craftsmanship looks great. Braver people than I have tugged on them pretty hard and they say they stay in place quite well. the only downside is the warranty. A mere 90 days, as opposed to the full year from Etymotic. I placed the order on Tuesday and they came first thing friday, via USPS Priority. The buds ship with all the Etymotic accessories and packaging (even the little zippy case). I don't know how Apple could produce such wonderful products, such a game-changing phone & mp3 player and release them with such abysmal headphones. read more

I purchased my UB7 12/28/07, back when it was 149.99. The mic was never working but I never got around to having it repaired/replaced. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting modded er6i if the mic doesn't work, dont'cha think? I finally got around to it getting it fixed recently. B**d promptly replied to my email and said he would have another set out for me asap via Priority Mail. Too bad it was the UB3 and not the UB7. I informed him of the error and he said I could keep the UB3 and return the UB7. Will see what happens... Identity concealed to protect the innocent =) read more

These guys are awesome. Back when the first iPhone came out, they had the only pair of high-end earbuds with the convenience of the iPhone remote+mic. Note that tons of earbuds come with the mic now but none of those mics are as light and convenient as the original apple one. I must admit that my er6s (UB7 on their site) broke a few times (I carry them in my pocket every day) but Ultimate Buds was quick to fix them for free with just one-week turnaround. 4 years later, I still have them although the sound is getting tired but it's not their fault. read more
